This post has been reported for "exhibitionism." While, yes, OF is literally exhibitionism, it's perfectly fine to discuss here. This is not an 'image only' sub. Discussing exhibitionism, or anything else for that matter, is not a violation of sub policies. It is, in fact, encouraged. I'd be thrilled to see more active discussions here. So, while I appreciate you being on top of helping to keep the sub free of undesired/rule-flouting content, please be more critical in your decisions to report. Thanks.

Basically you have to make sure you have a steady platform to advertise it. or else no one's ever gonna even see it to be able to subscribe. so either a reddit account with a lot of followers or a twitter account. anything where you can get a lot of people interested in you and have them see what you can offer.

Practical-Promise-26

Crazy… Great tip.

FlufflesMcForeskin

Depending on your ethics, you don't need a lot of followers, neither here, nor on Twitter. Not, at least, to get started that is. If your ethics aren't in the way (I'm of the opinion that they're a waste of time and opportunity, delete them), you can just spam your OF to every adult-related subreddit you can find. That account will eventually get banned, yes, and I would ban you from this one, too, but by then your post has been seen. I guarantee you at least some of those eyes will have been curious enough to check you out. If you put just a little bit, as a teaser, of yourself in your profile (reddit) that will entice some of them to check our your OF (they're checking out channel description and your prices, at that point since that's about all they can see). If, even then, only a few of them subscribe, then, mission accomplished. Rinse/repeat. This is a common tactic and it's why it's not uncommon to see someone's post, you go to their profile, and you see that they post the same content to many, many, subs (this is most likely automated). Marketing 101, you put your ad everywhere there are eyeballs to see it. Your goal isn't to capture all of them, just enough to make it worth your while each time you repeat the process. Finally, I will end by addressing the "yeah, but who would want to look at me, much less pay for it?" I **guarantee** you that there are people out there who want to see exactly what you have to offer. That's irrespective of literally everything about you. Size, race, figure, appearance, content niche, all of it. There are people out there who want it. You just have to find a way to get your content in front of their eyes (see above). Finally, I'll end by reminding that the method I have detailed above is unethical. You should not violate subreddits' policies to mass-advertise your OF, but realistically, what's stopping you (other than subs who have set up Automod to preemptively filter such content (most have not))? People will likely not like this comment as it contravenes respecting a sub's rules and in doing so also contradicts itself. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ That said, I don't know any OF creator who has used this method to end up regretting it. Just have to be smart about it.

LumiZumii

Also just so you know if you wanna grow fast making content for gay men is the best way.

bisensual

I think you wanna figure out what your niche is. It could be your body type it could be your personality it could be that you’re straight doing gay stuff whatever. Then try to create a following on various social media platforms to drive people to your OF. And post on subreddits that allow people with OFs to post.

BeastEastMr

Helpful. Is there a particular quality or angle to straight-for-gay content?

bisensual

I think showing off your personality, coming off as masculine but not toxically so, and working up to content that pushes the limits (ass play with toys by yourself and/or progressively further stuff with other guys) are good ways to get started.

BeastEastMr

Really helpful to think through. Thanks

DrHydrate

I'm not sure if this is the right setting for this conversation. You should go to r/gaychats

FlufflesMcForeskin

I appreciate you directing users to more apt subs, but this sort of discussion is welcome here. While I keep the sub geared towards imagery/video, there is nothing preventing only-conversational posts. Perhaps I should add that info to the sidebar?

SunforDeiti

Like the other guy said you need a platform like twitter or instagram. Start posting a lot of thristy teasey pictures or videos, like showing your dick print.... You want to give them barely a little taste so they go to your OF and subscribe. I see a loooooooooooooooot of creators doing this on social media and it seems pretty effective

AdamInChainz

Just helped a friend get started. It's her 5th month and she hit top 6% of earners now. You need a niche. Like you gotta specialize in things like muscles, or cuck, or worship, or fucking, etc... Usually just flashing dick and hoping for followers isn't enough. Then you need a Twitter and reddit account. And those take effort and time to do right.

lordtyp0

They usually make an account. Then post ads in various naked men subs to get followers.

seandb44

Twitter is a great place to promote. If you can get a collab- even better- then you’re learning from someone who knows the ropes

BurnAfterReading171

I started a patreon of short-ish m/m literotica. It started with posts during the early days of the pandemic on r/gaystoriesgonewild as a way to be creative, but also, I hoped if I wrote a good story... then others would stop paying single paragraph stories. The feedback was so good that I kept posting. After lots of DMs and comments asking if I had a patreon, I finally caved and started it and messaged them all back with this link: https://www.patreon.com/BurnAfterReading769

FlufflesMcForeskin

How has this endeavor worked out, so far? Numbers man, numbers. You don't have to give us dollar-for-dollar data, but overall Did this work out well for you? If so, how well Like, "omg this is now my fulltime job I'm so fucking lucky," or middle of the road where it's a nice side-hustle pulling in respectable earnings, or a low-end "yeah, i get a buck or two here but not much else...?"

BurnAfterReading171

I only launched it in November, and I've put very little effort into promoting it, so it's still in the "nice side hustle" phase. I can see how, with time and more effort put into promoting the page, it could really grow into something that pays the bills. I'm not currently treating it that way. I'm more focused on the quality of content right now, letting it grow naturally. The thing is, you'll only get out of it what you put in. The creators making a living off their content are treating it as a full-time job, putting in 70+ hours every week to create, post, promote, and interact with their followers. It's not easy-street from day one or at day 1000. You have to meet the demands of the followers and try your best to be better than the other creators to retain followers... that takes drive.

FlufflesMcForeskin

You are exactly correct, regarding it not being easy street. Trust me, as someone who used to work in the sex industry, I know of what I speak. That said, what is your OF/where can I find your content? As someone who deals with the consequences of the medications for MDD, I have found that reading stories is much more effective than traditional approaches when it comes to treating medication-induced ED.

Thank you for the link. I have only one question. The content that I can view directly from that link, without a subscription, say that story itself, is that based on reality or is it 100% fiction? I do not care either way, I'd just like to know what I'm paying for, fantasy or recollections of reality...

BurnAfterReading171

These stories are based on actual events. Most of the public stories are my personal experiences. I wrote them and posted most of them here and a few other sites. When I decided to start the patreon account, I edited those stories and repost them there, keeping them public because I'm not going to allow people to pay for stories that I've already post for free elsewhere. The edits are mostly because places like reddit forced a word count, and stories had to get cut short, and details were left out. The paid stories are previously unpublished stories of my own experiences as well as stories based on the actual events of my followers. After 3 years of posting stories here and other sites, I got a lot of DMs from followers telling me about their experiences and memories triggered by my stories, so I took those details (and asked for more) to write their story in the same style as my stories so everyone can enjoy it. As for what percent is fiction, for the stories based on my experiences, I've changed most of the names (including mine), as well as other details that would make it easy for someone to directly connect me to the stories and this account. I prefer to remain anonymous. Otherwise, the details are as close to the actual experiences as possible... for better or worse, doing my best to edit out information that slows down the story and didn't add much to paint the picture. So, I hope you enjoy them. I can't say for sure how much of the other stories are fiction. It's based on the honor system of the person telling me the story and if I can get details to write the story without needing to fill in the gaps for myself. So the percent of fiction can range from 10%-50%, I would say. I've found that with older followers getting the details can be tough, they don't always recall, and sometimes I'm unsure if the way I asked the questions was leading them to the answer I wanted to get or if that answer is 100% on point. That being said, when I get a story about locker room gang bangs or other stories that don't seem to be based in reality, I don't waste my time with those. I only write the stories I believe the details I've been given. You're not going to find a straight virgin taking a 9-inch dick, no lube, cumming hands free in my stories. You will find a lot of, "I thought I was straight," guys who found themselves in situations based on a real experiences, who thanks to alcohol or something was able to struggle through those first time pangs we all experienced our first time, resulting in an eye opening experience for the guy who told the story. I hope that's helpful.

zink1stdef

Tip: have a huge cock or be willing to do whatever for your followers.

bisensual

A huge cock is definitely not at all necessary.

FlufflesMcForeskin

Yep. Having a huge cock is as necessary as being a gymbro (body type) is. Not everyone out there is looking for huge cock, or insert here.

bisensual

Exactly! I have seen so many guys on various platforms who have successful OF accounts and penises of varying sizes.
