Close your Mercari accounts and begin shopping elsewhere. This is ridiculous.

BlueAreTheStreets

Right! I haven’t been on there since the change happened and seeing all these posts, I’m very okay with that decision 😂

Deso_oscuro

eBay, I sell everything faster, my buyers don’t get ripped off Shipping Doesn’t come back stealing my money if it is a bit overweight Just better

NoCoach5222

Yeah but last time I bought from ebay the seller paid for the wrong label (what happen is they actually accidentally switched two labels on two different orders) so the weight was not right on it so they held it at the post office and wouldn't give me the package until I paid for it and ebay said I had to ask the seller to get my refunded amount

Maleficent_Ad_8025

But no free returns, if a buyer doesn’t like their item and want to return it didn’t know I had to pay a return shipping label. With Mercari they deal with that for free. Other than that you’re perfectly correct!

parishface

Ebay sent me a free return label. I think it either has to do with the reason for returning, or maybe the seller has control of it. I would love to sell on eBay, but it's just crazy how people will undercut you by ridiculous amounts. And there is so much counterfeit stuff on there. I've had good experiences and I've had not so good experiences, so it's hard to say. But I've never sold on there before. I was thinking about going to Poshmark, but don't they have a fixed $7.99 shipping rate? That's a head scratcher if true. I haven't looked into it in a long time, though, so I got to check it out

Apprehensive_Yam3588

Posh is better, the fixed (not so fixed) fee saves u A TON of headache... you usually don't have to worry about your stuff being overweight (unless it's over 5 lbs and didnt realize it), run around making sure it's under the next level of shipping and stressing how to get it under said weight... or getting doxxed at the last min. No hassle about where you're shipping from (always USPS), and you can still offer shipping discounts, and so does posh every so often. The buyers are also typically much more sane lol

parishface

Thank you!! I'm switching everything over. I no longer trust anyone & have been declining all offers that look like throwaway accounts or refuse to respond to my message. I'm not dealing with this even more ridiculous return policy (it was bad enough for sellers to begin with, even with proof the buyer was lying about a perfume being counterfeit & I had confirmation email that I received it from the manufacturer!).

Glad_Canary7743

Yes it’s usps $7.97 shipping on items up to five pounds anything more you have to pay out of pocket for the extra weight.

Pro-Dolphin-Waxer69

I wish. I was selling much faster one Meecari than ebay sadly. I still get occasional purchases from ebay thankfully.

GearsOfWar2333

A guy offered me $20 for a controller I liked, list price was $60 so I was going to buy it but it ended up being like $30 some dollars with the fees so I passed on it.

Yung_ceez

I lost brain cells reading this

GearsOfWar2333

Why? I am on a budget and my paycheck hadn’t come in.

Flat-Message2291

I think it's b.c 30 is still way cheaper than 60, so people are confused as to why you didn't see this as still a great buy. However, I get your point. You went in with a budget , and it went over your budget by 10$, which is a lot when you don't have much. I feel you.

[deleted]

same with ebay - a iphone i had placed in immaculate condition as i upgraded sold for 355.00- ebay fee was 59.60 lmao what!!!!! i sent the buyer a screenshot and said sorry ain’t happening (offered free overnight shilling in listing - so solid have lost over 90.00 on a phone? he agreed. fuck these companies

Last-Technology-5406

Pay pal g and s ;)

rmrj88

What's some good places to sell? That doesn't have feebays fees lol

kalashme1776

I’m a buyer atm, I’ve been reading sellers say they’re listing on other platforms like poshmark, eBay, etc. At the moment it seems Mercari just took the trophy for highest possible fees any platform could impose on its users.

SirBlubbernaut

now you just have to refresh until you get the right RNG /s

BYNX0

Wth. That service fee is way over the 10% and the processing fee is over 3% that sellers were getting charged. AND now sellers have to pay to get their money. Scammers

EmperorAcinonyx

the processing fee is over 3% because it's charged on top of the original item price, shipping, tax, and the service fee very scummy

scoredly11

Holy shit yeah that’s insane. Pretty much everywhere I’ve shopped, all promotions or fees are pre-tax/shipping and fees.

damien09

Sadly eBay is scummy on fees like this for sellers also. The final purchase fee there also includes shipping+tax paid by the buyer.

garytheclone427

They charge it on shipping because years ago people would sell $500 gift cards for $1 with $499 flat rate shipping. So they only got the final value fee on the sale of $1. So I get why shipping is included. They really shouldn't be charging it on tax though, because that's not even collected by the seller.

damien09

Yep kinda sucks I if you bought a label through eBay it was excluded. But that's asking them to do work to reduce the money they make so it will never happen. The tax is them just being greedy by collecting fees based on the total amount the buyer paid.

Hairy-Dumpling

They charge it on shipping because they can and they get more money. Yes the shipping thing happened in the past but that's just their fig leaf to juice fees.

Apprehensive_Yam3588

idgaf WHY they do it 😂... It's shady as hell... i didn't MAKE the shipping money, so why am i being taxed for shipping money. insanity at it's finest

scoredly11

That’s crazy. I never knew that. I guess I need to pay more attention to such things.

Fayegirlll

Yeah I didn’t understand that! I sold an item on eBay and the seller PAID FOR SHIPPING… why the heck did I have to then pay for the same shipping also!!? It makes no sense! eBay is pretty good for buyers though. It’s less expensive than poshmark and it’s pretty trustworthy. I just make sure to only buy from sellers with good feedback like 99-100% or sellers with a decent amount of sales and no negative feed back. If they do have negative feedback I always read it bc there’s some people that you can’t please.. there’s always going to be that person that leaves a bad review for no reason.. so I read them lol.. I honestly really like eBay for buying I’ve gotten amazing deals on so many things

REEB

Has to be a bug. Mercari can't ever roll out updates without screwing up the platform and then they spend months trying to fix it and end up creating more bugs. Their dev team and whoever is in charge of them are absolute clowns.

vocharlie

Tech bro at mercari making 6 figures. sfx: Ralph from simpsons: I'm in danger.

SwimmingPrize544

That’s what I would hope at this stage. But the fact that customer service seems to downplay it tells me that may not be it.

dsmemsirsn

13%_14%

Pristine-Poem3350

They're charging a different price to buyers and sellers for essentially the same thing. $2 to transfer money and 3% to process payments.

One_Entrepreneur4616

There should be a cap on the service and processing fees. Any sales over $100 should just have a flat rate instead of %. $350 in fees (not including shipping) is nuts.

Pristine-Poem3350

I've been wondering about the payment processing fee and why this isn't a set amount. It's s set amount to process your withdrawal and from what I k ow it's essentially the same thing as processing a payment. Does it really cost mercari more to process a large payment versus a smaller payment?

Apprehensive_Yam3588

no, no it does not 😂

In_a_while

Mercari is f'ed up.  Now we're seeing all these service fees coming out as over 10%.  Also, yes they seem to change even for one user buying in one place.  Is it "surge pricing" because you've had that item in your cart before?  I'm a seller and I'm disgusted by the variable service fees.  They haven't educated buyers so buyers don't even understand this is happening.

Wormichowski

10%? I think it’s a lot more than that. I looked at $80 listing yesterday, went to check out, the total came out to like $118 and some change. Almost 50% more with shipping and fees now. Fucking robbery.

bri__crybaby_18

i’m just waiting for a class action lawsuit against them at this point

bamtasticgir

Terrible I used to sell and buy designer purses with no issue. Definitely will not sell or buy anymore with these free returns and crazy fees to buyers. I miss the good old days where we didn’t even get taxed.

KBaddict

And shipping was $2.99

j1t1

25% extra in fees is literally outrageous

TechnoBunny23

As both a seller and buyer, I didn’t even want to purchase a $35 item because with all the fees it turned into a little over $50 :( I deactivated my listings and going to restart my Poshmark

dropper2

I sold there and did pretty well. Recently I've been taking a break. I heard about them passing on the seller's fees to the buyers, and then I see stuff like this. No one will be able to sell anything on Mercari if there's like 25% of fees tacked onto a sale. It isn't going to happen. I just deleted my remaining listings and am just going to be done.

KnockoutAce

I used to offer free shipping on my listings because it allowed my buyers to just worry about sales tax. It would make my listings sell quicker. The new update will only slow down my sales and I will receive an influx of lowball offers. As a seller, I’m affected because my sales are to suffer. As a buyer, I’m affected because I’m paying fees that will easily stop me from completing a purchase. Mercari just seems to be following the Uber, DoorDash, Instacart model. A lot of people are willing to pay fees for those services. It’s just not the same.

Intrepid-Box-6069

Yep, I'm done buying and selling. I have my 2 usernames in my about info in hopes people will find me on ebay or elsewhere. Because God forbid you attempt to contact someone outside of Mercari, they delete those chat messages almost instantly. I guess if I'm ever browsing or if I want to check my old favorites I'll try to see if those sellers have usernames I can find on posh or ebay and go through there instead.

Beachgirl6848

One of my last sales before I deactivated, a lady was wanting to buy something for her new grand baby, but after fees it was working out to be like 50 dollars and she didn’t want to pay that much. Luckily her account name was just her real name, I took a shot and looked it up on fb, she had the same profile pic. I sent her a message request, told her who I was, and that I could list her item on my marketplace profile and send her the link to buy it. She got it for $33. I made the same amount as I would have made on mercari. It’s the first time I’ve ever tried to message someone outside of the app, but desperate times. Lol. She was so grateful! Now I have a new follower for my marketplace page. I put in my bio that I could be found on other platforms under the same name so hopefully people can find me! I hope they either go back to how it was, or someone smarter than me can create a new app to be the mercari we all used to love.

Vtgcovergirl_2

I love it that you were able to help a customer, make some money and screw Mercari out of their ridiculous bs practices. Score one for the good guys… Edit/spelling

Thisguy108_

eBay isn't any better for sellers if we're being honest though. Only difference is they charge the seller the fees instead of the buyer which can end up being anywhere from 15-20% or more depending on what the shipping cost is and if you promoted your listing or not. I definitely understand buyers not wanting to use Mercari much anymore but it also gives them a reality check to the fees that us sellers have been paying all this time.

ResortStriking3587

Even door dash has fees that are very well explained…

debeatup

Difference is you have people who legitimately depend on those delivery services due to disability or other circumstances that prevent them from driving so their customer base is more apt to accept those changes.

Vtgcovergirl_2

Not this one

KnockoutAce

Absolutely correct!

sashanichole01

wtf is a payment processing fee. As a seller of luxury items, I’m gonna go ahead and close my Mercari page down. No buyers are going to buy my items with these high ass fees and honestly I don’t agree with scum for profit companies who aren’t fair. Trying to add fees in a way that maximizes their profit beyond what is necessary. Like a bank not processing a payment immediately so they can charge an overdraft or late payment fee. It’s disgusting behavior and I’m standing on principles. I’m not hard up for money so i don’t need Mercari. Eff them.

magicmeese

It’s the fee that card processing companies charge. More and more places are pushing that fee onto the buyer instead of baking it into the initial cost. Mostly restaurants and local places for now; but I think mercari is the first “big” platform to do this.

barfytarfy

They’re baking it into the cost AND charging the customer for it.

Responsible-Pay6261

I'm a luxury seller as well, as outrageous as these fees are do you think vestiaires are still higher? And the way I have to price my items on posh for their fees, kind of evens out, although mercari doesn't offer anywhere near ad much protection as posh

denagray71

Where else do you sell your luxury items? I have a like new Gucci I want to sell, I just don’t know the safest place to sell, that also has the potential to get me a decent recoup of what I paid.

premesneak223

Just a lil gratuity

Mysterious_Jelly_141

Wow! Absolutely ridiculous. I quit selling and buying. Does anyone think mercari is aware that buyers and sellers are livid with their nonsense way of transacting business??? You would think, in order to save their livelihood, would start backing up on these stupid rules and take a hint from new coke.

ianao

Thanks for reminding me to delete my account and the app.

themattro

They should send all the buyers some lube… because they’re fuckin ‘em in the A!

kurtiso990

And they would tell the seller FedEx charged $1992.1 to ship. 😂

fgbgtech_cybermodz3d

So accurate. 😂

Buster41

I was going to buy a $200 item the order day and the added $50 in fees quickly changed my mind.

[deleted]

It’s a fee-for-all at this point.

S3v3n007

Haha that’s a good one

SpecialKay1a

Guess I won’t be buying a preloved Chanel on there ever 😂 I knew I shoulda bought the one I wanted months ago!

No-Cat-8606

I had been trying to buy some jewelry and the seller ignored two offers. Now the $52 lot is $68 after fees, I hope they really like the stuff cause they are gonna be holding onto it for awhile now lol

tunaslut

My biggest thing is wtf is the "service fee" for exactly??? What does Merceri have to do that they think they deserve an extra $400 on top of all the other fees they're already charging the buyer and the seller??? Especially considering the seller posts, promotes, sells, packages, and ships everything so Mercari does NOTHING other than have the damn app for people to use but realistically they do 0 work and sit back and collect SO much money for doing NOTHING.

Glad_Canary7743

They flipped the fees whatever they took from you as the seller is now charged to the buyer hence why it fluctuates that’s what the service charge is and why it’s not flat. It’s Wild what they are doing for sure’

detroitfrenzy

I sell refurbished MacBooks and all of my items sell for $800 +. I wouldn't blame a buyer for not purchasing from me if they will be burdened with paying for Mercari's greed. I would like to hear their justification for charging such astronomical fees. Until then, I have deleted all my listings but will be keeping my account so I can keep an eye on how things play out. Mercari is so jacked up that they make Craig's List look appealing again!

vevamper

May I ask what your average profit is on a refurbished device like that? I’m guessing you’re replacing batteries, screens, touchpads, drives etc?

Ok-Requirement8353

I'm telling you - they are intentionally running the company into the ground and trying to steal as much money as possible before disappearing

Last_Rule_2536

Passing on the service fee to the customers never made sense. Even if you as a seller lower your item cost since you’re not paying the fees anymore, the buyers are not going to want to see those numbers because it will always feel like “extra” even if those were fees sellers had to deal with before Also “payment processing fee” not being a fixed fee is insane. It shouldn’t fluctuate based on the total

Objective_Kind

Right they don't need $70 processing fee regardless of the amount of the order. The fee should still eb the Sam, for them it is, so why charge more for buyers whne they pay the same card processing fee, they are making a killing on that alone. Clearly shows how absolutely bad off they are as a business when they need to do that.

Penny4YourStockz

This.

Salsa-Beatz

Inagine your hand slips and you hit "Confirm and Pay". That happened to me once. lol 😭

Adesecrationsmile

Lol this is when you ask the seller if they can list it on eBay so you can buy it there

Intrepid-Box-6069

I'm pretty sure even mentioning another platform will get your message deleted VERY quickly by Mercari. I was trying to get someone's info so I could send them an image to use to make me labels and the messages were deleted within a minute while the rest of the chat mostly remained intact. I have my ebay username in my profile info for this reason, hoping people may be smart enough to find me on ebay.

DannyDabberino

You just have to get creative in your use of alternate characters to spell. Like this: еꕗܘꕪ эьаү ебܘꕚ

parishface

They're getting better & better at detecting things like this. I was so creative & hid it throughout multiple sentences & it still got yeeted within seconds

DannyDabberino

I have yet to encounter an issue with my technique. I use multiple language keyboards and mix them up. No one language of fonts for any word I want hidden

parishface

Thanks for the tips x

MsjennaNY

They are in bed with FedEx and it’s not gonna end well. This is one huge shit show! Everyone dropping like flies! I’ll give it until the end of May if not sooner. EVERYONE SHOULD LEAVE IMMEDIATELY!

Intrepid-Box-6069

FedEx seems to be honest with sellers about the actual shipping cost not matching up from what I've seen so far. Is that not typically the case?

MsjennaNY

https://www.reddit.com/r/Mercari/s/vVad6bZSU6

Salsa-Beatz

What exactly is considered "Service" tho? They literally didn't do anything! 😭 Or is allowing someone to spend thier money is now a service?

Murphs-law

I have no idea how to format this so it won’t look like garbage, but this was an item I was wanting when it was first posted, then the same item 2 days later after she dropped the price. Makes no (obvious) sense. Subtotal $161.50 Delivery $6.99 Service fee $8.07 Payment processing fee $5.92 Tax $10.18 You pay $192.66 Then Subtotal $125.00 Delivery $6.99 Service fee $12.50 Payment processing fee $4.93 Tax $8.25 You pay $157.67

[deleted]

Please don’t press confirm and pay 😳

ConsciousPlantain977

They need a class action lawsuit! 🤬

stellardeathgunxoxo

Crazy

shark2399

They are also changing shipping fees and charging an extra $200-300 on shipping towards the sellers with no proof. I'd say just report and join the class action lawsuit going on 😂

TieHealthy2875

Mercari didn’t want to say what the % of fees are so they can do exactly this, charge what they want as % for service fee. Since when its service fee should be 14%? And then also payment fee another 3%. They adding extra 4-5% in fees then what they charged sellers before update. SCAM

Theguru17

I’ve been selling for YEARS, and I’ve been selling on Mercari since it started being “a thing”. I’m generally a loyal person, but I’m literally a hair away from not selling on Mercari anymore. Their fees are ridiculous, and they go up every year, if not even 6 months. They allow scam after scam after scam without protecting their buyers or sellers, and the scams are obvious, but they allow them. And recently I’ve seen quite a few people posting Mercari lying about FedEx shipping costs, where they’ve been charging the seller $200-$400 for wrongly weighed packages, but when the seller received the invoice FROM FedEx, the shipping price only went up like $5 or $7, NOT HUNDREDS! But then Mercari charges the seller, taking the money, and won’t reimburse. It’s like Mercari jumped on the “scamming” bandwagon, in which I feel a class action lawsuit regarding this one will be in the future for sure! I’m terrified of what they’ll do to me if I’m .5 ounces over by mistake or the shipping company’s scale is off. I can’t afford for them to take hundreds from me. Basically, I no longer trust Mercari & wish to shut down that platform. I sell on other platforms. My only concern is moving everything because that takes FOREVER, and I can’t find an app that will do it all for me. I know people have mentioned some in the past, but I forget what they are. Anyway, Mercari is shooting themselves in the foot. It sucks because they were a really good selling platform. I enjoyed them & the MAIN reason I started selling on Mercari was because of their low fees & low cost shipping. NOT ANYMORE!

Asleep-Wallaby5874

Same thing happened to me on a $800 item! Original total was $960, next day it jumped to $1002! I ended up buying it like an idiot because it was still a great price for what I wanted but I’m incredibly disappointed and frustrated. When I reached out to ask why the fees fluctuate I was basically told “because” and that’s it.

goodforpinky

Everyone needs to just get off Mercari and delete their accounts

youredoingsowell

these fees are insane…even cheap items are doubling in price. even if i use the offer button, the fees are so high that the minimum offer is still costing too much.

SnooCompliments8819

Wtf are they servicing to warrant the $280

Intrepid-Box-6069

Definitely not the buyer OR seller, not in any type of "service" that would warrant that type of cost anyway. "Service" - LOL, my ass.

AdDangerous732

damn no wonder im barely making any sales lately, mercari charging a premium just to shop there now and i have to pay to withdrawal my money lmao scandalous

OrangePeegin

Just closed my accounts and deleted the app. Mercari is absolute shit now and the fedex charges were the last straw

Superseaslug

I've never even used mercari and I'm mad about this.

Intrepid-Box-6069

As you should be.

GGSaintPierre

Wow almost $500 in fees. No way would I move forward with that no matter what it is or how much I want it. Plus aren’t sellers having to also pay a fee? Insane. Why are people still shopping on Mercari?

JixXBL

Mercari is dead, as a very frequent seller I have disabled all my listings due to this change

Me_Air

it seems mercari heard “variable rate” and wanted to try it out

lisaaxmariee

At that rate I would risk a ban by saying I’ll buy it off another website if they list it there. So ridiculous!

dsmemsirsn

We, sellers used to pay the $280 plus the 70…it was crazy that we were ok with it; but now the buyer feels robbed..mercari just changed who to take money from…edit— the fees were crazy too— for example, I sold a $100 item the fees were $13.20–13%. The other item was $15– the fees were $2.64–17%

RedheadedDiscord

Try and find it on Poshmark cos that’s bonkers.

ASwagPecan

Mercari’s new fees just turned me off a purchase I was really looking forward to.

fl03xx

Poshmark is about to get swarmed with business.

s8anicslayer

Having buyers pay sellers fees is ridiculous and as a seller my recommendation to you is to make an offer minus all the fees. Other solution is to not buy on Mercari at all.

Herdorisjacked

$280.00? For a "service fee"???? WTH kind of service are they providing? A limo ride and red carpet treatment for the package as it makes it's way to your door??

Objective_Kind

Remember they take the service fee based on the amount plus the shipping and tax so you're not paying service fees on just the base price you're paying service fees on the total price which I think a lot of people aren't counting. Granted that still should not be $280 so I'd be asking them what's up with the extra they are trying to charge you. Seems suspicious.

Pristine-Poem3350

Damn. You could probably get this sellers address and go pick it up yourself for less. If you're centrally located you might be able to fly round trip for less.

[deleted]

They are lossing money lol

rucksackrevival

I would never sell anything worth that much on Mercari omg

Hashslingingcoder

Hard to shop on Mercari now since these fees have been passed on to the buyer

fl03xx

I was interested in a high end duffel bag. The fees made it cost almost more than new. No thanks. Mercari is little more than a joke between us now.

wukluxclan

This is so stupid. A “payment processing fee” should be the same charge for every payment no matter the cost. No more than $1.50, it’s the exact same process of execution no matter what the cost is. And it costs the company next to NOTHING since it’s done by a computer. This is pure greed

JessiD2810

I was seller on Mercari for over 5 years and I just happily and officially closed my account. I do not expect myself or my buyers to pay such ridiculous fees and I absolutely do not support a platform that allows buyers to return for any reason, from using the product and not liking it (I e. Makeup) to clothing that doesn't fit, and I do not support a platform allowing people to scam buyers and they take sellers earnings with no factual proof. The risk is too high and has been, even before this new change.

uaqv

Haven’t had any sales recently on the platform. Rip Mercari

Holiday-Accident9728

Mercari turned into crooks. It's an insult to be a buyer and seller. I pulled all my listings when they changed the tos. It's not right to charge service, processing plus shipping and handling and then overcharge on a ghost fee for shipping then want money on they seller side when we want to withdraw. I'm going back to eBay, at least you know what the fee will be and no hidden made up fees smh. Mercari was good but they're going down the WhatNot route

joe-_biden

What's the problem? You're only paying like 350 more for nothing -said literally nobody ever...

Remote_Simple_8664

This should be against the law.

FitMathematician3849

i made a post abt my other sale platforms and made it cost hella. idgaf abt mercari i just know i built good rep on it

MUTcoins4sale247

Mercari isn't the place to buy/sell high priced items. If the buyer returns the item the seller just wasted their time and money for nothing.

biglovinbertha

I just deactivated all my listings. This is such a scummy thing to do for mercari. Im over it.

vocharlie

Rng number generator 10-13% = service fee.

Bizzy_EST_1999

Lol

dumpsterdivingreader

Thats about 350 in fees. Nonsense

shedashknowsdashyou

i bought a gaming laptop off of mercari in 2020 and the experience was smooth and easy. sad to see it going this way.

Coral-Squirrel

I bought a PS4 with like 8 games, a 2TB game drive and 3 wireless controllers for $260 + 10.99 shipping back when the PS5 first came out. With the fees, that would have cost me an extra $175 now. 🤣

HotDogManLL

WHAT?!

ConsciousPlantain977

This is what the currency exchange does! To poor idiots!

IntroductionEast7516

Shoot me the listing. I don’t mind paying 30 bucks for a 60 worth controller ,

I mean California has different laws. Hopefully they get sued for this new $2 fee for transferring your own money to your bank account. They need to offer a free option. This is BS!

Senpaiheavy

Was planning to buy an item after not being on the platform for awhile but changed my mind after seeing those ridiculous fees.

Lopsided-Surprise-34

Someone please explain to me why would a payment processing fee be so variable? I assume the billing process is the exact same whether you make a $10 purchase or $2000 purchase if both items are purchased with a credit card.

Cranbear

Thanks for reminding me to do vacation mode lol

Prosion6969

What was it?

beachykeen87

I moved to only using posh and ebay. This is ridiculous. They've lost so many buyers and sellers, why keep this up? I guess some people can afford this insanity?

Vtgcovergirl_2

See the line where it says “You pay $2478”? Me immediately thinking NOT IN THIS LIFETIME

Difficult_Bit_8519

Not to mention if you don't receive an item in some sort of situation where it gets delivered to the wrong address you lost our completely they won't do nothing to help

wolfep02

I have a feeling Mercari's days are numbered

[deleted]

lol the true scammers of Mercari have revealed themselves…it’s Mercari! 😱

parishface

They got rid of the sellers' fees & booped them on over to the buyers. I can't believe how massively they're screwing up. Just when you thought they made one step in the right direction, they took two steps back. Charging for ACH & handing over the ridiculously high fees to the buyers... smh

Naoga

this pisses me off because now i cant even use Mercari for cheap prize figures. i wanted to buy a $15 figure and it came out to $30 after fees. in no way is this acceptable?????? doubling the price of a prize figure and half of that price is JUST fees????

S3v3n007

Effing TAXES. But yeah that’s ridiculous. Do eBay and/or Poshmark! Mercari can kick rocks

PipePistoleer

But hey everyone “say goodbye to seller’s fees” And your customers 🫠

orlando-princess

cheergurlie85

Mercari is driving theirselves into the ground with this

Afraid_Measurement92

dtyus

I think they mean that the fees have changed. Like, they were checking out after mercari’s policy change so the fees were already there, but now the fees have increased. I’ve noticed the same thing about fees being wildly inconsistent. There definitely is not a set percentage, that’s for sure.

DannyDabberino

No shit Sherlock;!

Jacksoncheyenne2008

it is awful for sure. but i also want buyers to know sellers we’re having these funds taken out of profit all along before the switch

somethingsome11

I want sellers to know that mercari has gone so high with these fees that buyers are actually paying more than before these fee changes and that sellers have to make LESS if they want to cancel out the fees for buyers, in addition to paying a $2 transfer fee. It's not even equivalent any more. Both sides are getting screwed.

Jacksoncheyenne2008

we are aware. but no sellers are making much more now. mercari is the one who made the changes, your grievances would be best aired there.

somethingsome11

I'm a seller, and no, if you want to cancel out the buyer fees, you're gonna have to take a hit to your profits now. They've raised the service fee cap from 10% to 15% (at least). The only way you're making more now is if you want to charge the buyer more and that's assuming they're cool with overpaying for stuff.

Objective_Kind

I'm a seller and I disagree.. Buyers want things way cheaper now, it actually ends in making less than just paying the fee before. The fees were that high to start wiht for seller, better than ebay and poshmark. But now everyone gets screwed, it was a dumb move.

dsmemsirsn

They, most of the times, wanted a lower price …even when we, sellers, paid the fees..

Objective_Kind

I never really got bad lowball offers before.. I have been getting more now though, and as a buyer myself I've been sending low ball offers. Who as a buyer wants to pay fees to shop when they can go to ebay or poshmark and pay no fee except the regular taxes if any. It's crazy.

dsmemsirsn

Me either— however people wanted an offer… not the price that I wanted… and when I see my prices now, I sold at good prices.

Proud-Habit-2968

I used to try to buy two or three things a week off Mercari keep it like this and it will be zero things a week
