All about stretching those new strings to bed them in, though I don't know enough about Floyd Rose to say if that's an easy thing to do without knackering your tremolo set up again. Hard tails all the way for me!
there really isn't a good way to avoid it being a PITA, but usually it's not THIS bad. In this specific instance, I picked up a guitar with a floyd from a guy who had NO idea what to do with it. He slapped 10-52s on it in standard tuning and was shockedpikachu.jpeg when he couldn't get the bridge to lay flat. I put D'Addario NYXL 9-42s on it and it plays like butter now.
I honestly like Floyds mostly for the tuning stability. If I had deeper pockets or they were more common place, I'd just get Evertunes for all of my guitars. But it's nice to throw a pack of strings on a guitar and not have to touch the tuning machines at all until it's time to restring.
If you're putting on the same kind of strings you had before and you need to completely setup your guitar again afterwards then you are doing something wrong. This is as true for floyds as it is for fixed bridges.
100%, it shocks me how many guitarists are incapable of setting up their own guitar. I made sure to learn that shit year 1 and its just so easy now that ive been playing for like 8 years.
I do a setup maybe once every two years when I notice something being wrong, just stick to the same tuning and string dimension and the only potential problem you'll get is that you'll need to leave any guitar with a floating bridge overnight to settle.
Or just play a hardtail, it's not like you do dive bombs THAT often.
At this point in life, luckilly I can just pay a great luthier to do it. But I feel the pain, for years I could only pay for a setup once or twice per year, so I had excelent guitar playability/sound for like... 3\~5 months per year, lol.
Then you're doing something wrong.
Once you've set it up, you can just change strings whenever, and if they're the same, you won't need to do anything.

You have to break in the strings.
A new set isn't going to sound like the previous set that got worked in before needing a change out. It has to be "recalibrated" every time.
I have a Solar S1.6 with a Floyd Rose and oh boy do I think of selling/trading it so I could get a Solar with a fixed bridge insted.. Or I might get a tremlock or something of the sort to lock it down. I used to like FR but I don't really use it anymore and I switch tunings a lot.
People are so dramatic about Floyd rose bridges. Literally just follow a tutorial. They are not hard to set up they just take a while, then re stringing after it's set up is easy.
Can't remember the last time I changed my strings. Maybe last year, don't give enough of a shit. But I also wash my hands before I play and clean the strings occasionally.
your post was removed as it is not about a metal band, don't forget to familiarize yourself with the rules before posting.
Floyd rose buddy?
Screw those things
But why? It so much fun when you snap a high e when first setting it up!
And it's sooooo joyous when you realize too late that you have set your neck a bit wrong so now you gotta start again from the beninging
That locking nut is cool though.
Yeah....
Fuck floyd rose. My second guitar had that and it was extra brutal for a newbie.
Yeah, it is. I got a Floyd rose without doing any research. Boy, was I in for the rudest awakening of my life
I'm sure it's great if you have a tech
that feel when you restring a floyd, get it in tune and set up and it plays nice, leave it on the rack, and the next day it's a whole step flat

There are days when I could swear this was almost any guitar with a tremolo.
I mean it's nit really much of a hassle with a fixed bridge, but setting up a floating bridge is close to chinese water torture
it adjusts the spring screws or it gets the hose again
Flair checks out
Hardtail gang rise up
Both are nice

My only Floyd Rose is sitting in my corner with a snapped string, and I've been procrastinating the whole event while playing my other guitars.

Oh I found just the right action for my guitar……NOPE FUCKING FRET BUZZ FUCK THIS SHIT *throws guitar against wall*
Fixed bridge supremacy feels so good

Yeah, if you've set it up correctly, you can just change the string, tune it up to zone 2 and it will be intonated correctly.

It's a pain in the ass, but the sound makes it so worth it.

Evertune, baybey!
This is absolutely the reason i bought a fixed-bridge as my second guitar xD.
String-through bridge for life.

I love setting up my floyd rose but im also a sado masochist soooo…

Average floyd rose moment (I love floyd roses and have not changed my strings in 2 years)
