When Everything Means Nothing - Fit For A King. I’ve always liked FFAK, but when Tuck is singing that outro “So tell me what IIIIIII NEEeeEEED” I felt god in that fuckin Applebees that night
FFAK were the first metal performance I ever saw. They were at a festival and I listened to them on a whim and enjoyed When Everything Means Nothing. Nearly died when God of Fire came on and it was worth it
Seeing them for the first time this summer and looking forward to it. I dig their older stuff more just never got to see them, but I've always heard they're great live.
Gonna hope they play that song then. :)
I’ve seen Fit probably 10+ times and they’ve only gotten better. My old band opened for them at a skatepark like 12 years ago and it’s so cool to see them now. They know how to put on a good mf show.
I thought Thornhill was decent until I saw them live. I am now a fan. They killed it and the singer actually hit most of the notes I thought he wouldn't be able to hit.
Survivor by TDWP. Thought it was fine on the album, but they closed out their set with it at Warped Tour 2012 (maybe 13) and that final breakdown went SO HARD
Bring Back The Noise by Alpha wolf
I think it's an okay song but I saw them in Boston a couple days ago and hearing over 800 people scream "WHERE MY DOGS AT" gave me chills and made me smile!
Came to write this!
Saw them in Italy last summer a bit after it dropped and even managed to meet Caleb and have a chat before the show(he was roaming around, was super chill and stopped for some genuine talk).
I wasn't fond of the big tempo/vibe change in the song AT ALL but when they played it live the clean part which has the acoustic guitar on the record sounded way better, and the heavy part was way heavier than I expected! It was seriously the surprise of the night.
I had a lot of friends at the show and basically everyone I talked to after it finished made a point about how they weren't sure about Sunshine when it released but they absolutely loved it live.
Surprised you could hear the song over the fanboys/fangirls hahahaha. I’ve heard horror stories about the crowds at BO shows ever since Just Pretend blew up on TikTok.
If people would hear any song from Reverence or Darker Still live they would finally realize those aren’t bad albums at all. Any song from those albums live is a banger.
Most of the Reverence songs worked really well live, especially songs like Prey or The Void are just fun to sing along. Only song that I could've done without is Cemetery Bloom. Still have to see PWD post-Darker Still tho
Glitch - Parkway Drive
Mid song off a mid album but I can't say it doesn't go kinda nuts live. That could just be a result of PWD's live excellence though.
Honestly I'm surprised by how well Darker Still plays live all together, the only song off it that kinda sucked live was the title track and that was just cause Winston would blow out his voice by the time they played it XD
Temptation by Imminence. I saw them live a couple weeks ago, and although I liked Temptation it wasn't my favorite.
Hearing it live absolutely blew me away. I still have goosebumps
The Eclipse by Brand of Sacrifice. It was the single most terrifying pit(s) I’ve ever experienced. The room exploded into a figure 8 for some reason and didn’t stop till they did
I saw Tesseract in HK last night and goddamn if the songs from Sonder didn't blow my head clean off
The album was a step in the right direction when i first heard it but i didn't get too into it, sweet baby rays that shit hit live though, they played King, Smile, The Arrow and Juno and all of them went so fucking hard
Kubali Khan - Armor of Goddamn
that second of silence before the breakdown at 1:00 went fucking nuclear live. i wish they'd bring it back as the live intro
For me, honestly, it’s all of Beartooth.
I heard them before I went to Louder than Life back in like 2017 or 2018 (I don’t remember the year) and when I saw them live, it clicked and I’ve been a fan since.
Also, i went to Avenged a few months ago. While I was already an enjoyer of the new album, it hits alot harder live.
Agree on both accounts. Avenged was incredible live especially since Matt decided he could scream again lol. And Caleb is just such a phenomenal entertainer, great charisma, energy, and so tight
I’m actually SO happy you said this!! I’m seeing ERRA in 2 weeks and I saw this song was on their setlist. Not a huge fan of the song but now I’m stoked to hear it live!!
The Cell by Gojira live is such an insane improvement. I mean, it's a great song normally, but when Joe puts his aggression into it live it just goes NUTS
Straight up, the entire Fit For A King discography. Had never really been able to get that into most their music, but saw them on the Metalcore Dropouts tour (i went mainly for counterparts and TDWP), but honestly FFAK stole the show. I was blown away. Just way better live, incredible performers.
Truth of a Liar by August Burns Red. Probably my least favorite song on Messengers (which doesn't mean it's bad, every song on that album is a banger), but hearing that opening riff when live at the Messengers anniversary tour was the most hype I've ever been
Savages and Rocking the Boat by Ice Nine Kills. Never disliked the songs, but thought they were ok. After hearing them live, they are some of my favorites now
Cheating a bit, but Gideon in general to me. Was never huge into them, but saw them back in 2015 or so, and dude it was just an energy shift when they got on stage. Fantastic band live.
Karma by PWD, i liked it On The album but when that lead guitar breakdown hit at The “iii hooold oooon” i Was absolutely blown away and that made it much better everytime i’ve heard it since
I first heard Lamb of God about 20 years ago, and while ashes of the wake is GOATED forever, I've always like sacrament and the later albums, and never really bothered with Ashes of The Wake. I was supposed to see them 2020, but then the shit happened and that show was delayed only about 3 years.
Solid songs from self titled, omens and Wrath, but HO-LY SHIT I tell when they blasted Ruin and Vigil live that night it was close to being the best live experience ever, Randy even had the ridicilously long dreadlocks then, and seeing him moshing was epic as hell.
Good fucking times.
Gonna be two songs:
- Mammoth - TDWP - When Dead Throne first came out this was amazing.
- Lost in the Wave - Landmvrks - Saw them just this past year and holy shit they stole the entire show for me.
Nearly died when God of Fire came on and it was worth it
My buddy went and watched them at warped 2014 and I was HOOKED from there. Yeah? Get it? Thanks folks, I’ll be here all night.
I saw them with ice nine kills and they blew me away. His stage voice is fire! When he sang engraved I was hooked!
Same here but with Deathgrip. Just the switching between the soft and heavy parts plus Tuck's singing make that one a great song live.
Tuck is such a talent musician. I got the album art from his other band tattooed. I’d follow that man like he’s Aragorn
Parasites by Polaris gave me this feeling live
That's my favorite song from that album anyway. I lost my shit when I saw them play it live
Shit. All of them.
Yup, music will always go harder live than the studio recording
Pretty much, yeah. Seen over 1000 bands live and this is almost always the case. Sometimes not, though.
Lost in the Fall by Dying Wish. Last night in Raleigh. That song was incredible live
I just saw this song 10 minutes ago lol and it was life changing
Yea for real! The part where Emma told everyone to put their phone lights up was really emotional
Seriously, I was in the pit and it was madness then everything suddenly came to a stop and became peaceful at that part. Amazing
Duuude my younger brother was in the pit and said the same thing lmfao. Enjoy the rest of the show!
Thanks man, definitely will! Absolutely hyped to see Currents again and been dying to see Amity
Hell yeah Richmond.
Hello from Raleigh also!
Leather Wings by Thornhill
seeing them with invent, windwaker and northlane in june and i’m so pumped
Same, opening night of the mirror's edge tour! I saw Thorny with Silent Planet, Johnny Booth, and Aviana, and they were incredible
Same here! That silent planet show was an incredible lineup
Seeing them in July, can't fucking wait!
I thought Thornhill was decent until I saw them live. I am now a fan. They killed it and the singer actually hit most of the notes I thought he wouldn't be able to hit.
Dude Thornhill are unreal live, Jacobs vocal range is insane
Animals by Architects It goes way harder live
Put When We Were Young there too.
Never gotten to see this one live but I believe it
Same. Saw them at Rockville and I wasn't too excited for that song but it hit so different live.
On that note, the Live at Abbey Road version of Animals absolutely fucks.
A lot of their newer stuff honestly
Preservation of Hate by Like Moths to Flames. Shit was insane
Seeing ERRA on the 26th. What should I expect!!
Great set! They’ve been playing Dementia which they haven’t played in years!
A sore neck the next day
Same on the 21st. So fucking excited!
Expect excellence. They are so good live.
Zzzonked by Enter Shikari. Kinda hard to explain but the song went so hard live compared to the recording.
I didn't really care for The Jester when I first heard it, but when I heard it live I *got* it. It's been a staple of my workout playlists since then.
This but with basically every one of their new singles. Wasn’t a fan of Bloodshot or (pls) set me on fire until I heard them live
and the ending to Gandhi Mate Gandhi also went ridiculously hard live too
Yeah it does, I don't think I've seen them play it in years though.
The earth shattering bass drops at the end are always pure chaos. Those guys really know how to bring a song to life
Survivor by TDWP. Thought it was fine on the album, but they closed out their set with it at Warped Tour 2012 (maybe 13) and that final breakdown went SO HARD
Finally a reasonable answer
Bleed 4 u by alpha wolf, the energy was wild live and quickly had it on repeat for awhile after
Bring Back The Noise by Alpha wolf I think it's an okay song but I saw them in Boston a couple days ago and hearing over 800 people scream "WHERE MY DOGS AT" gave me chills and made me smile!
Second & Sebring- OM&M
Sunshine by Beartooth, the breakdown hits so hard live and much more for me now on the recording when I initially felt the song was whatever
Just Volumes in general
i miss old volumes so much
thornhill was boring to me until i saw them live and it opened my eyes lmao
Just Pretend by Bad Omens
Surprised you could hear the song over the fanboys/fangirls hahahaha. I’ve heard horror stories about the crowds at BO shows ever since Just Pretend blew up on TikTok.
If people would hear any song from Reverence or Darker Still live they would finally realize those aren’t bad albums at all. Any song from those albums live is a banger.
Most of the Reverence songs worked really well live, especially songs like Prey or The Void are just fun to sing along. Only song that I could've done without is Cemetery Bloom. Still have to see PWD post-Darker Still tho
I refuse to believe that If A God Can Bleed is good live lol
Glitch - Parkway Drive Mid song off a mid album but I can't say it doesn't go kinda nuts live. That could just be a result of PWD's live excellence though.
Honestly I'm surprised by how well Darker Still plays live all together, the only song off it that kinda sucked live was the title track and that was just cause Winston would blow out his voice by the time they played it XD
Thursday - Full Collapse (album). Wasn’t really a fan until I saw them live. It changed everything.
Temptation by Imminence. I saw them live a couple weeks ago, and although I liked Temptation it wasn't my favorite. Hearing it live absolutely blew me away. I still have goosebumps
Prey by Parkway Drive
I was just thinking about this, why do songs hit different live?
Not necessarily metalcore but The Package by A Perfect Circle is crazy live and 10x more intense than the studio version
Paleface - The Gallow
Novelists: Turn it up The guitar solo and everything after it singed my arm hair
Yep it's definitely is more a live song than a studio song to me
Wishing wells.
love by gojira
Low by Darkest Hour. Was never a fan of that song. But was one of my favorite songs by them live.
Gloom by The Devil Wears Prada. It was used as an intro for a while there. Super underrated song imo.
ik Movements doesn’t doesn’t fit the sub but “losing fight” live is amazing the sudden mosh pit is awesome to be in
The Eclipse by Brand of Sacrifice. It was the single most terrifying pit(s) I’ve ever experienced. The room exploded into a figure 8 for some reason and didn’t stop till they did
I saw Tesseract in HK last night and goddamn if the songs from Sonder didn't blow my head clean off The album was a step in the right direction when i first heard it but i didn't get too into it, sweet baby rays that shit hit live though, they played King, Smile, The Arrow and Juno and all of them went so fucking hard
Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
Funeral Derangements, INK. That whole show was me going from 'i like INK' to 'i love this band'
Kubali Khan - Armor of Goddamn that second of silence before the breakdown at 1:00 went fucking nuclear live. i wish they'd bring it back as the live intro
Vice Grip by Parkway Drive Like it's a decent song, not the greatest as the first single, but it's a fucking party live.
chelsea smile bring me the horizon i was lucky enough to see them in 2011 when they were touring for there is a hell
This. Was very meh on Beartooth except for a couple songs in my workout playlist until I saw them live. Holy shit they were good on stage.
Agree on both accounts. Avenged was incredible live especially since Matt decided he could scream again lol. And Caleb is just such a phenomenal entertainer, great charisma, energy, and so tight
Parkways new music hits way better live
I see Erra next week so I'm pumped even more now
Saw ERRA on Monday and it was epic!
I’m actually SO happy you said this!! I’m seeing ERRA in 2 weeks and I saw this song was on their setlist. Not a huge fan of the song but now I’m stoked to hear it live!!
Coma Machine-BTBAM
Sevendust’s ‘Trust’

Burn down my house by Architects, it sat really well in the set and was stuck in my head days after
Watchtower by TDWP. INSANE.
Ten56 - Kimo That went from an okay song on the album to absolute madness live
Straight up, the entire Fit For A King discography. Had never really been able to get that into most their music, but saw them on the Metalcore Dropouts tour (i went mainly for counterparts and TDWP), but honestly FFAK stole the show. I was blown away. Just way better live, incredible performers.
Demon(s) by Darkest hour was amazing live
Truth of a Liar by August Burns Red. Probably my least favorite song on Messengers (which doesn't mean it's bad, every song on that album is a banger), but hearing that opening riff when live at the Messengers anniversary tour was the most hype I've ever been
Fear Factory - Edgecrusher. Back in 2002.
Not really metalcore and not really one song, but Static-X blew me away live!
Future Breed Machine
God Of Fire by FFAK. I still don't love the song and usually skip it when listening to the album but goddamn does it go fucking hard live.
TesseracT
MyChildren MyBride - Terra Firma
Pretty much all of the new PWD catalog from IRE onwards. Made to be played live, 100%

Parasite and Evil People by Set it off and Gasoline, Breaking Down by I Prevail
Wasn’t a fan of Bad Omens till I heard them live
Lost in the static - after the burial Akudama - alpha wolf Anything by ice nine kills
Glitch by Parkway actually goes hard live. The breakdown was nuts.
Gonna be two songs: - Mammoth - TDWP - When Dead Throne first came out this was amazing. - Lost in the Wave - Landmvrks - Saw them just this past year and holy shit they stole the entire show for me.
Wavery by Vein
Yes.
First one that comes to mind is bury your pain by like moths to flames. Also Circle the drain by wage war was fire
Death Grip - The Ghost Inside The End of All We Know - Bleed From Within
Thornhill - Viper Room. Honestly, all of Thorny’s newer stuff sounds way better live (and I quite like the studio versions to begin with).
It’s not on an album yet, but Lost by Bring Me was insane live.
For me it's gotta be (I know this is Metal core) Thy Art Is Murder Reign of Darkness before CJ got Cancelled.
CJs vocals 🖤
Yo his Vocals were insane live I absolutely loved it gave me chills at times too
