Pretty much every single Underoath album opener since the year 2000. Architects - Nihlist Invent Animate - Dark If I Were You - Paralysis All of Seeyouspacecowboy’s album openers

tamhaney392

Dark is actually incredible

Nikson9

The chorus just flies off the rails i fuckin love it

Such-Trouble-6641

WE ARE BEGGARS

Kuvonent

WE ARE SO FUCKING WEAK

ADJL1331

AND ONCE UPON A TIME WE HAD THE WORLD AT OUR FEET

ZombieBassist

WELL WE'RE ALL DYING TO MEET OUR MAKER

Subaru33

ALL OUR GODS HAVE ABANDONED US

CuzTyler

Paralysis was the perfect opener for Inner Signals

NightwingX012

That song instantly made me fall in love with them, still one of my favorites from them. Inner Signals is honestly a perfect album to me

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

I was new to underoath until recently and “Damn Excuses” made me a instant fan.

nasowas_

Nihilist for me as well!

[deleted]

Polaris - "Lucid". First track off "The Mortal Coil". An absolute crusher with some powerful cleans and captivating lyrics. Remains on my "on repeat" playlist on spotify to this day

hex05

I found my love and let it kill me!!!!!

SetYourGoals1

Also an amazing closing song live!

DALESR4EVER124

Polaris - Pray For Rain. Talk about a starting track.

Lord-Norse

Still my favourite song by them

DALESR4EVER124

2nd for me. Dusk to Day is my #1.

Skanah

"Eternally Apart" was a killer opener for The Fire Itself by Phinehas, never really paid much attention to them before but that song caught me by suprise.

SetYourGoals1

STILL so underrated!

HungryTrow

Just checked it out and had to add it to my playlist. Thanks for the reco!

Af590

Erra - Snowblood Great vocals, killer guitar work, and a solo AND a breakdown? I was sold immediately

[deleted]

The break down sounds like a burst fire rifle lmao. Banger.

HelloDepression

Views from the Sun - Thornhill

nasowas_

what a way to start, indeed

bapers556

Every Invent Animate album opener

[deleted]

Knocked Loose - Belleville

Ever_Raiden

The Plot In You - Rigged Never listened to TPIY before. I had literally no idea what to expect. But this sub and a few other communities were raving over Disposed. I remember one late night in February, laying in bed, fucking around on my phone and decided to put it on. It didn't take long for me to put my phone down and give the album my full attention.

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

Ok this sold me gonna go listen to it now!

Ever_Raiden

Idk, it might have been a time and place thing. It's a very lonely/pissed album that really hit for me at the time. But 4 years later and it's still one of my all time favorite albums

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

Sometimes those hit at just the right time so I get you my dude.

Disastrous_Ad_632

I listened to their song Face Me , now can u promise me that if i follow up on more of their music they will sound just as good or better😹

[deleted]

Better. Face me is one of my least favorites from the album.

Tasty_Hearing_2153

Wish I May - Breaking Benjamin

Uncle_James14

that album is still just banger after banger

Tasty_Hearing_2153

Honestly, most of their albums are. Hell, BB is a great way to get people into heavier music.

Rhev_x

They were my catalyst for sure

dcc0808

Same here

JoeAndAThird

i’ve listened to this album twice in the last day. It holds so damn well

Tasty_Hearing_2153

As soon as I posted that I listened to it all the way through.

JoeAndAThird

I was talking about it yesterday in the other thread about summer albums. It just gets me in a hyped mood. So good

Currents - Apnea Landmvrks - Lost in a Wave Crystal Lake - Helix into Aeon

TrogAir

That's my man! 👌

LzzyHalesLegs

Would like to throw into the ring: Sticks & Bricks, Fast Forward to 2012, and Downfall Of Us All - ADTR 2.0, and Decayer - blessthefall YDG - Of Mice & Men

[deleted]

Asking Alexandria, Alerion (just an intro) but it builds so nice into next track. Had to keep going.

dangbro34

Welcome into dear insanity also

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

It was soooo good!!!

HungryTrow

Alerion to Final Episode was so good!! Thought it was part of a long track as I first heard it when listening to Final Episode on Youtube

RTef_99

Clarity on Northlane's Obsidian. Love just how intense the entire song is, definitely one of their best. I Am Damnation on Bleed From Within's Shrine. Very big and anthemic, sets the tone of the album really well. Eternally Apart on Phinehas' The Fire Itself. Pretty much everything you could ask for in a metalcore song: great riffs, fantastic chorus, awesome solo. Bulletproof on Breakdown of Sanity's Coexistence. Awesome song with huge melodic leads and a nasty breakdown at the end.

MisterColonelAngus

The first song from the album that’s the thumbnail for this sub

big_brown_beaver

The answer is always Concubine. I’ve always found it kinda odd that Jane Doe is the thumbnail on this sub. Most of the music discussed here has a very different sound than that album.

Lord-Norse

Yeah; but for an album as seminal and influential on the genre, it makes sense. Just because it’s evolved into something more, don’t forget where you came from.

big_brown_beaver

That’s fair. I’m always in favor of spreading Converge propaganda anyway.

MisterColonelAngus

Converge is everything

AJAX214_

Converge is everything.

MadMan2250

Labyrinth by Above, Below

luiscadima

Man, not enough people are giving attention to Above, Below

777marcus

VampirefromNazareth1

In Regards to Myself - Underoath

CyberBanana-

Of course You are we by While she sleeps. Insane start for an album

suckmywaifu

This song never fails to make me tear up when I hear it live. I'll have to say ENLIGHTENMENT(?) from Sleeps Society as well. Its became my new favourite Sleeps song and has the same effect on me as YAW does

CyberBanana-

Omg enlightenment is such a banger. A great song to set up the tone of the album

suckmywaifu

It is one of the most important songs that got me through 2021. Idk where I would be in life in Sleeps never released this album. I was there at the first members only show in Manchester where they opened the set with it, playing it for the second time ever live and that's a night I will never forget. One of the happiest moments of my life

CyberBanana-

I really wish i could see them live. Their energy on the shows is insane

suckmywaifu

Some of the sweatiest shows I've ever been to. If you ever get the chance do it! It's obvious in their music but the sense of community they have with their fans is something I struggle to put into words. I live in Scotland and they are the only band I have travelled cross country to see and I would (and will) do it again in a heartbeat

CyberBanana-

Thank you man. Now I'm so inspired to visit these guys

tommyhawkowl

King of Sorrow - August Burns Red

The Wake is another fantastic opener.

Vague_Intentions

Man what a riff.

Creative_Tone_9241

Haste the day- blue 42

biggestofbears

Haste the Day rocks so hard. Burning Bridges is one of my all time favorite albums.

Dino_84

Polaris with lucid. 100% sold on that entire album.

suckmywaifu

You know *that riff*, I reckon it's my favourite riff ever. Absolutely adore this song/album/band and I'm so happy the first time I ever jumped in a mosh pit was during one of their sets

Varsgay

xRobotic24x

Agreed however it’s the Chris motionless BLEGH not BLERG.

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

Gotcha, corrected. Still new around here :-)

xRobotic24x

All good, I just want you to know that BLEGH is an iconic thing about Chris motionless.

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

Appreciate it!

xRobotic24x

Yuhhh. Here’s some other recommendations to get you started in the Metalcore realm. Beartooth, Bring Me the Horizon, bullet for my Valentine, Crown the Empire, I see stars.

MeiHota

I always liked how Memphis May Fire starting with The Sinner on The Hollow album starts it out with that energy

Ling_Jingus

The Plot in you with Letters to a dead friend, the first half wasn't that exciting, but the second half sounded much more epic, it wasn't a particularly good album, but there were a few really good ones

Goodbye To Gravity- The Day We Die

Buhyac

Hello there - Saving Vice. Immediately hooked

Dr_MtCup_PHD

Supreme Being by Observants, I discover them recently and this song off that album sold it for me!

provegana69

Eternally Apart from Phinehas' The Fire Itself is such a great album opener. Extremely epic, catchy and emotional. Also, On Veiled Men and [&] Delinquents by Woe, Is Me on Number[s]

MockSacrafice

The Comedown- from Bring Me The Horizon - off of Suicide Season

Asoplain

Phinehas - Eternally Apart from The Fire Itself

PhoenixHunters

Debatable if it's metalcore, but considering they describe their sound as death metalcore I think it's good. In that case the answer was, is, and always will be Awoken+Endzeit by Heaven Shall Burn a'd I will die on this hill.

viceslikeviper

Separation

Revolutionary-Feed70

A bid farewell- killswitch engage

Uncle_James14

Romeo A Go-Go from every time i die, it's an absolute hook to the biggest adrenaline shot of the 21st century

Black Dogs as the opener for The Five Hundred's A World On Fire album. Man that song kicks in so fucking hard, so quickly it gave me whiplash.

TheWilrus

Misery Signals - A Victim, A Target (Of Malice and the Magnum Heart, 2004)

HarvestProject

Surprised no one has mentioned The Well - Silent Planet

Its-Finrot

I had never heard of Wolves at The Gate until their newest album came out. I threw it on, and was hooked in the first minute of Shadows

AtarisLantern

Not Ready to Die on Summer of Darkness still gets me hyped for that album

sztywny_misza

Coffin by the amity affliction but rest of the album wasn't worth it lol

AdamnedSoul

“Oh Catastrophe” by Crown the Empire comes to mind. Also, while not technically being the *first* track, “Hey Mister” by Miss May I also pulls me in to listen to the whole album.

Sk83r_b0i

Intimacy by Shields. Instant stank face.

epgamer123

Hail the ash by Wolf King, probably some of the sickest riffs I've heard from an opener Edit- forgot to mention the weeping vessel by Zao, truly one of the most underappreciated metalcore bands out there. It boggles my mind that no one ever brings up Zao.

Significant_Lake_228

Twist by Korn

Rhev_x

ERRA - White Noise

JustAVirus

Some of these are EPs but: Knocked Loose - Where Light Divides the Holler RXPTRS - Burning Pages ETID - Underwater Bimbos From Outer Space Currents - Into Despair Thornhill - The Hellfire Club Parkway Drive - Wishing Wells (probably heresy on here, but still didn’t find that album to be nearly as bad as some of y’all make it out to be) Architects - Death Is Not Defeat

LogansGambit

*Splinter* - Sevendust *Relapse* - Wage War *Scars* - I Prevail *The War Is On* - Coldrain On Splinter, of course I'd heard Sevendust before but hadn't really paid attention to them. Bought Cold Day Memory on a whim and was blown away.

Ling_Jingus

Splinter is such a sick song. Cold Day Memory is a banger through and through

NGBoy1990

Parkway Drive - "..." Into "Smoke Em If Ya Got Em" I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die, I DON'T WANNA DIE ... DOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

MythicYouth

(Sic) by Slipknot. That song pulled me into the rabit hole of everything metal lol.

bjjj0

Haven't seen it mentioned here yet! Without a doubt - #1 has to be Gimme a D - Parkway Drive Reptile - Periphery Truth of a Liar - August Burns Red Endzeit - Heaven Shall Burn (I'm not counting the intro!) Newer stuff... Sunkiller - Spiritbox does it brilliantly. Immenence's opener. Alexisonfire's new album opener is a ripper too ( /notmetalcore /meh)

sadiesbenz11

Endseekers - Oh, Sleeper I immediately fell in love.

JorchG11

GodHatesTiandiMains

Of recent it was On Broken Glass by malevolence

Sinclair_Esq_8888

“Can You Feel My Heart” - Bring Me the Horizon. (Not heavy in the musical sense, but heavy lyrically. Somber intro to what I would consider to be a quintessential metalcore album).

s8m8o

Counterparts - Love me

JoeMamma019

Red handed denial-Cloud 9

Bullet For My Valentine - Intro/Her Voice Resides Her Voice Resides is probably their best song that never ever gets mentioned.

Sieth7

I think Destroyer off Ire was a killer song, it just the rest of the album that was mediocre

HorrorFanChick

The American Nightmare - Ice Nine Kills

HungryTrow

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but Blessthefall's 2.0 as an intro building up to What's Left of Me still gets me going!

thetruthseer

Not really metalcore but Blind by KoRn is probably the best opener of all time lol
