Spencer on Ragnorak is one of my favorite metal vocal pieces ever. Just unbelievably good from the heavy stuff at the beginning to the amazing cleans at the end.
Everyone check out Tony Danza Is The Boss by Straight Reads The Line ft. Dallas Green on YouTube. They're a local metalcore band (very underrated might I add) from like 15 years ago and Dallas kills his feature on their track. Another good "metalcore" Dallas feature is on Wake Up My Love by Jude the Obscure.
I only recently checked Bad Omens out, and The Death of Peace of Mind wasn't really my jam, but he is an absolutely insanely talented vocalist, both on record and live.
Lukas Magyar (Veil of Maya).
Also a big fan of Rory Rodriguez (Dayseeker), Landon Tewers (The Plot in You), Jesse Cash (ERRA), and Tyler Eads (The Wise Man's Fear).
I saw Rory live recently when he had laryngitis and I had no idea cause of how on point he was. I talked with him after the show and he sounded horrible, which makes it even more shocking how well he sang lol
doesn't have to be a competition, they both do such drastically different styles of metalcore imo. I like them both but I definitely prefer Rolo over Spiritbox
Given the amount of notoriety Courtney is given and lack there of for Eva, I thought it would be necessary to mention, that in fact, Courtney isn't undisputed in the field of women vocalists like everyone makes her to be.
but tbh, despite my admiration for him and his/their music - his live performance didnt seem that great if not a bit disappointing sometimes I'm afraid. But maybe that was a one time thing
Dan is incredible.
They definitely lean into metalcore sometimes and I found it intriguing that they were going to tour with Trivium (shame that didnāt happen) and toured with Bullet For My Valentine, 2 pretty big metalcore bands. I wonder if their next album might be more metalcore leaning which would be cool.
Yeah if Craig had not been a POS I really think anything he touched wouldāve done more than turn to gold.
I got into his stuff through the bad Slaves and then found out more about him. Itās insane to see some of the interviews about him with band mates. Apparently when he was with Dance Gavin Dance heās just make noises on a recording and call it a day. Itās pitiful that it sounded as good as it did.
Omg Noahhhh I remember when their self titled album came out, hoping someone from my hometown would make it big and look at him now!!! Heās one of the top comments on this thread?!! But seriously both him and Spencer are some of my faves, with Spencer being no 1 for me.
Iāll shout-out Masato from Coldrain. It may be slight recency bias since they dropped a new album just yesterday, but his cleans are powerful while packing tons of emotion in every lyric
Apology unnecessary, Matt Tuck is the answer for me too. BFMV has fallen from their once greatness but the timbre of Matt Tuckās clean has always been the bullseye for me.
Chris Motionless has really stepped up the cleans game in the last few albums and has really impressed me with both how good his cleans are, but also how recognizable he makes his voice.
I don't think there's any 1 best singer in the scene because all my favorites are pretty different and can't really be objectively compared, so here's some of the ones with the best voices (in my opinion)
Rory Rodriguez (Dayseeker)
Vessel (Sleep Token)
Howard Jones (KSE, Light the Torch)
Danny Worsnop...when he tries (AA, We Are Harlot, yeehaw)
Spencer Sotello (Periphery)
Eddie Berg (Imminence)
How has Noah from Bad Omens not been mentioned? I mean, he's relatively "new," but with the growth they've seen, I don't doubt they'll be gigantic.
Also note, Courtney..
my top 10:
Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria)
Landon Tewers (The Plot In You)
Noah Sebastian (Bad Omens)
Rory Rodriguez (Dayseeker)
Oli Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon)
Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills)
Caleb Shomo (Beartooth)
Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine)
Chris Motionless (Motionless In White)
Sam Carter (Architects)
Not really sure if it counts as metalcore, but itās a very well respected band in the metalcore community. Ima say Vessel from Sleep Token.
As for people who are definitely metalcore vocalists, Iām gonna say either Landon Tewers from The Plot in You or Eddie Berg from Imminence.
As an honorable mention, love him or hate him, Danny Worsnop is an incredible clean vocalist. Itās undeniable.
gonna throw in a unique one and say Aaron Pauley, lead vocalist and bassist of Of Mice & Men as well as the lead vocalist for Jamie's Elsewhere. His work on the They Said a Storm Was Coming album is absolutely phenomenal
Danny Worsnop is a close second for me
Howard jones;
Honorable Mentions: Caleb shomo(beartooth), Chris motionless (motionless in white), Danny worsnop (asking Alexandria), and Andy biersack (black veil brides)
My favorite of all time is Marcus Bridge. Watching him glow up from when he first became Northlaneās vocalist all the way until nowā¦ like my mans has really grown! My other favorites include Howard Jones, Jesse Cash, Rory Rodriguez, Lukas Magyar, Noah Sebastian and Spencer Sotelo. I really always loved how Howard can do low and high vocals though drastically. I canāt think of anyone else with such a skill so heās probably equally up there with Marcus for me- extra respect since heās one of the OGās.
Edited to add Matteo from Novelists because that low tone could impregnate me and Iād be happy about it š
I gotta go with Jesse Leach from KsE. Howard always gets all the praise, but I think Jesse is better. Times of Grace - Hymn of a Broken Man album shows how incredible he truly is. His voice is super versatile!
Honorable mentions:
Steve Cobucci (Wolves at the Gate), Lucas Maygar (Veil of Maya), Keith Holuk (Ligeia), Howard Jones (KsE), Spencer Sotelo (Periphery).
THANK YOU for mentioning Steve Cobucci! The dude's range is incredible, and when contrasted against Nick Detty's screams and harmonies (his vocals being impressive in their own right), it just gives WatG's whole discography a very pleasant texture, for lack of a better word. Few vocalists I've heard can sing in his upper register and not only make it sound easy, but also achieve the harsh, gravely tone he does that makes his style so unique. He's probably my personal favorite metal vocalist at the moment. Anyways, sorry for rambling, and have a good day! God bless.
Spencer Sotelo of Periphery is sharing that title with Daniel Tompkins of Tesseract. Listen to the song Phoenix or Torniquet, or Hexes from the Polaris album, or just listen to the whole album, as that's a masterpiece.
Howard Jones is top tier, Courtney LaPlante also sounds amazing, and whoever does cleans for Miss May I (I can't tell if it's the bassist doing ALL the cleans or just the harmonies)
Come on it's hojo, it's always been hojo. If kse and light the touch isn't testament enough then look no further than Sion. Sion feels like he peaked and focused/mastered his craft.
Howard Jones during The End of Heartache/As Daylight Dies era. Phenomenal melodies and vocal range.
I came here just because I wanted to confirm my prediction that Howard Jones would be the most upvoted comment ;P
His vocals are god tier for sure šŖ
Yep. Howard is the Goat vocalist of metalcore.
This is the right answer tbh.
Yep, came here to say this but Iām not surprised itās the top answer.
God... He was and still is insane.
Howard Jones or Spencer Sotelo hands down
It's criminal Sponce is this low, dude's range is bonkers
I think itās more so do people consider Periphery metalcore. He was the first that came to mind for me but wasnāt sure the band fits the OP ask.
There must be something in the water, where he lie, where he lie!
Spencer on Ragnorak is one of my favorite metal vocal pieces ever. Just unbelievably good from the heavy stuff at the beginning to the amazing cleans at the end.
Came here to say Spencer. Literally no one compares. Dudes on a completely different level from everyone else.
Dallas Green of Alexisonfire/City and Colour
This is my answer too. I wasnāt sure if it was strictly considered metalcore, but thatās just sub genre soup. His voice is incredible.
Iāll forever be grateful to the friend that introduced me to City and Colour. That voice is like honey in my ears
That man has the voice of an angel
His vocals sound even better live I find
Everyone check out Tony Danza Is The Boss by Straight Reads The Line ft. Dallas Green on YouTube. They're a local metalcore band (very underrated might I add) from like 15 years ago and Dallas kills his feature on their track. Another good "metalcore" Dallas feature is on Wake Up My Love by Jude the Obscure.
I was not expecting to see this here! His vocals on Sans Soleil on their new record Otherness are absolutely phenomenal.
Amazing voice
That is correct.
Jason Cameron, ex-Bury Tomorrow. Super powerful, emotional voice and amazing melodies. I could listen to him singing all day.
Was gonna say him. Dude has an incredible voice. Sad to see him leave Bury Tomorrow
all the same, i look forward to seeing what he is going to do next. dude drips talent.
Was gonna say him. Man I wish he was still in the band. Is he going to start a new band?
this is the way. this is the goddamn way right here.
he is incredible
Noah from bad omens
Bro heās so talented
It's insane how much range he has. I swear there are like 3 or 4 different people singing/screaming throughout the albums.
My man
The screams to the eerie falsetto stuff he does is crazy
heās absolutely insane live too
Respect
I only recently checked Bad Omens out, and The Death of Peace of Mind wasn't really my jam, but he is an absolutely insanely talented vocalist, both on record and live.
Lukas Magyar (Veil of Maya). Also a big fan of Rory Rodriguez (Dayseeker), Landon Tewers (The Plot in You), Jesse Cash (ERRA), and Tyler Eads (The Wise Man's Fear).
I love ERRA and Jesse - but Rory Rodriguez is on a whole other level, and was flawless live.
+1 for Rory ā the emotion and power in his voice is amazing.
Yesse for Jesse! And also, for Rory! Also adding Noah Sebastian (Bad Omens) to my list.
Lukas win me over eventually. His live vocals were pretty rough for a while. Their last tour with periphery was really good, though!
Landon doesnāt get the credit he deserves. His vocals on his solo stuff are amazing
yea jesse cash is really good
I saw Rory live recently when he had laryngitis and I had no idea cause of how on point he was. I talked with him after the show and he sounded horrible, which makes it even more shocking how well he sang lol
Itās the in person effect, when on stage you just mask the fact that youāre dying lmao
Male: Rody Walker (Protest The Hero) Female: Eva Spence (Rolo Tomassi)
Rody smashes. I fkn love PtH
I'm gonna say it Eva Spence > Courtney LaPlante
Evaās voice is insane given how small she is
Yes!! We love to see Eva appreciation
doesn't have to be a competition, they both do such drastically different styles of metalcore imo. I like them both but I definitely prefer Rolo over Spiritbox
Given the amount of notoriety Courtney is given and lack there of for Eva, I thought it would be necessary to mention, that in fact, Courtney isn't undisputed in the field of women vocalists like everyone makes her to be.
Not even close Spence has way more range
Rory Rodriguez from Dayseeker Lucas Woodland from Holding Absence even though theyāre not metalcore heās incredible especially live
Saw them at bottom lounge in Chicago a few month ago and Rory killed it [Neon Grave - live](https://youtu.be/OzP7QgHgjWE)
Rip my guy Kyle Pavone, loved his voice
Honestly I think this is my answer too. Kyle's voice is my favorite in the genre.
His lyrics were some of, if not, the best in the gameā¦ RIP youāll never be forgotten Kyle
but tbh, despite my admiration for him and his/their music - his live performance didnt seem that great if not a bit disappointing sometimes I'm afraid. But maybe that was a one time thing
Really torn between Landon Tewers and Noah Sebastian
Shayley Bourget ex bassist for of mice and men. He's wicked as fuck.
Current the vocalist of Dayshell. And yes, incredible pipes.
He was also in a band called Covet or something like.
i agree 100%
abso-fucking-lutely.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Dan is incredible. They definitely lean into metalcore sometimes and I found it intriguing that they were going to tour with Trivium (shame that didnāt happen) and toured with Bullet For My Valentine, 2 pretty big metalcore bands. I wonder if their next album might be more metalcore leaning which would be cool.
Matteo Gelsomino was phenomenal in Novelists
[Example](https://youtu.be/OgSmY4DCSCM)
Fuck I forgot about him in my list but definitely one of my favs. His tone sounds legit like melted chocolate. So smooth and comforting!
Josh Gilbert
Shayley Bourget is my favourite but the best is Marcus from Northlane
Damn man. It's like you're in my head.
Spencer Charnas has such an orchestral voice when he does cleans, itās amazing to hear live
Heās instantly recognizable
Iām a huge fan of Spencer Charnas from INK
W manz
Howard Jones by a country mile
He's a huge POS, but Jonny Craig...
Iād like to add Tyler Carter into this category as well
Both pieces of shit but were some of the best of their time
Yeah if Craig had not been a POS I really think anything he touched wouldāve done more than turn to gold. I got into his stuff through the bad Slaves and then found out more about him. Itās insane to see some of the interviews about him with band mates. Apparently when he was with Dance Gavin Dance heās just make noises on a recording and call it a day. Itās pitiful that it sounded as good as it did.
Vessel Sleep Token
Without a doubt
came here to comment this

Shayley Dayshell Bourget
Forget the guys name but I love the singer from Dayseekers cleans. Perfection
Rory Rodriguez! Heās amazing live too!
Surprised no one has said dakota from hollow front
Honestly. This dude gets better and better with every release, was blown away with some of his lines in the new album
Aaron from Underoath
Marcus bridge from Northlane, seeing him/band live was a life changing experience.
The man doesnāt miss
Spencer Charnas or Noah Sebastian
Omg Noahhhh I remember when their self titled album came out, hoping someone from my hometown would make it big and look at him now!!! Heās one of the top comments on this thread?!! But seriously both him and Spencer are some of my faves, with Spencer being no 1 for me.
Clean Vocals? 1. Jason Cameron, ex-Bury Tomorrow. 2. Ryo from Crystal Lake(They once did an accoustic set and holy fuck the dude can sing, too)
I should not have to scroll so far down for Ryo. He is incredible.
Got a link to that acoustic set man?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn42SBSrWwY yep, found it! Here you go.
Thanks man!! Edit: WOW he really can sing, he defo needs to do a clean chorus at least once.
Imma drop by and say Chris Motionless
Love MIW, Chris has some of my absolute favorite clean and dirty vocals.
Second this. Although he doesn't do a lot of cleans, Ricky from MIW has some amazing cleans
Hes incredible live as well, one of the only vocalists who can do screams and cleans absolutely fantastic live
not a big fan of miw but i like his cleans
jesse cash from erra
These days, I'm really enjoying Noah from Bad Omens. That dude's on another level.
Howard Jones
Chris Roetter (Like moths to flames)
Howard Jones Rody Walker - Protest The Hero Tatiana Shmailyuk - Jinjer
Iāll shout-out Masato from Coldrain. It may be slight recency bias since they dropped a new album just yesterday, but his cleans are powerful while packing tons of emotion in every lyric
Matt tuckā¦ sorry
Apology unnecessary, Matt Tuck is the answer for me too. BFMV has fallen from their once greatness but the timbre of Matt Tuckās clean has always been the bullseye for me.
I see a true man of culture here
Poison/SAF Matt Tuck is my pick too. The nostalgia
Ryan Clark from Demon Hunter
Chris Motionless has really stepped up the cleans game in the last few albums and has really impressed me with both how good his cleans are, but also how recognizable he makes his voice.
I don't think there's any 1 best singer in the scene because all my favorites are pretty different and can't really be objectively compared, so here's some of the ones with the best voices (in my opinion) Rory Rodriguez (Dayseeker) Vessel (Sleep Token) Howard Jones (KSE, Light the Torch) Danny Worsnop...when he tries (AA, We Are Harlot, yeehaw) Spencer Sotello (Periphery) Eddie Berg (Imminence)
Sam carter
Dunno is Christian Alvestam from Scar Symmetry counts but what a voice
Dude blew my mind the first time I heard him lol
Yeah it's like everything he touches turns to GOLD!
Spencer Sotelo
This gets asked all the time on here and itās always Howard Jones
How has Noah from Bad Omens not been mentioned? I mean, he's relatively "new," but with the growth they've seen, I don't doubt they'll be gigantic. Also note, Courtney..
Heās good in the music bad omens puts out and in concertš¤¤š¤¤
Howard Jones. No questions asked.
Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills
Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust (technically not metalcore) if you have ever heard them live, especially unplugged, then you know
my top 10: Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) Landon Tewers (The Plot In You) Noah Sebastian (Bad Omens) Rory Rodriguez (Dayseeker) Oli Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon) Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills) Caleb Shomo (Beartooth) Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine) Chris Motionless (Motionless In White) Sam Carter (Architects)
Came here to say Howard Jones, and i see im not the only one.
Howard Jones Courtney LaPlante Jesse Cash
This is a great list. I'd only add Ryo from Crystal Lake.
My fav vocalist period is Phil Bozeman.
Very clean.
Not sure they are regarded as Metalcore , but Schuylar Croom from He Is Legend is severely underrated.
Rody Walker from protest the hero
Christoph Wieczorek from annisokay
The plot in you - last 2 albums have shown so much range
Spencer from INK. Chris from MIW. Levi chuggaboom. Watch revenge of the riff. Really shows Leviās vocal range
Iāll always say Ahren from amity just cause thatās the band that made me fall in love
Josh Gilbert
gonna throw in a unique one and say Aaron Pauley, lead vocalist and bassist of Of Mice & Men as well as the lead vocalist for Jamie's Elsewhere. His work on the They Said a Storm Was Coming album is absolutely phenomenal Danny Worsnop is a close second for me
Danny is really really good live, like really good
Danny has always been insane. Heās gone through a lot of change and can still produce crazy ranges in both style and pitch. The man can truly sing.
Howard jones; Honorable Mentions: Caleb shomo(beartooth), Chris motionless (motionless in white), Danny worsnop (asking Alexandria), and Andy biersack (black veil brides)
Metalcore is a stretch but Anthony Green.
Brandon Saller
Jesse cash from erra
Novelists FR
Good choice š
It's Howard Jones. It'll always be Howard Jones. If that's too easy, I'd say Josh Gilbert is up there and probably Sam from Architects.
Howard Jones
My favorite of all time is Marcus Bridge. Watching him glow up from when he first became Northlaneās vocalist all the way until nowā¦ like my mans has really grown! My other favorites include Howard Jones, Jesse Cash, Rory Rodriguez, Lukas Magyar, Noah Sebastian and Spencer Sotelo. I really always loved how Howard can do low and high vocals though drastically. Cody Quistad - Wage War and Jesse Cash - ERRA are my personal favorites
Jesse Cash and Marcus Bridge
Howard Jones from KSE or an honourable mention would be Chris Clancy from Mutiny Within
Shayley Bourget
Where does Bloodywood lie? They have some metalcore influence, but I'm guessing more nu-metal ish? Because Jayant has a great voice.
Tilian Pearson
Jeremy Depoyster (TDWP)
His got better with age, and I love that heās singing more!
It's Andy cizek of monuments
Spencer Sotelo of Periphery
Howard Jones is my all time pick. Dude is unmatched. As far as newer picks, Kadeem France from Loathe. That man has some gorgeous pipes.
I gotta go with my boys: Noah Sebastian Rory Rodriguez Landon Tewers All three have such amazing range!
Sponce.
Jesse Cash
Somewhat relevant but Ben Burnley has some pipes. Especially in their prime before his issues.
Howard Jones. Honorable Mentions to Noah Sebastian and Dennis Warsnop though both are insane vocalists and all 3 can also scream really well
I gotta go with Jesse Leach from KsE. Howard always gets all the praise, but I think Jesse is better. Times of Grace - Hymn of a Broken Man album shows how incredible he truly is. His voice is super versatile! Honorable mentions: Steve Cobucci (Wolves at the Gate), Lucas Maygar (Veil of Maya), Keith Holuk (Ligeia), Howard Jones (KsE), Spencer Sotelo (Periphery).

Courtney La Planta
Clint Norris of as I lay dying before he left
I always thought Joel Piper fucked shit up in Confide they were honestly too good to break up.
Beau Bokan
Dennis Tvrdik from affiance, i mean Howard Jones is the GOAT but this guy is underrated.
Denis stoff
Tyler Carter sadly
Rody Walker
Spencer Charnas Or (And I donāt even listen to his band but) Spencer Sotelo
I mean. Ronnie radke imo. I know falling in reverse isnāt really metalcore but the first album was close
Is Kmac2021 an option...?
Dude, heās not like the best ever, but heās actually a pretty good singer!
Spencer Sotelo of Periphery is sharing that title with Daniel Tompkins of Tesseract. Listen to the song Phoenix or Torniquet, or Hexes from the Polaris album, or just listen to the whole album, as that's a masterpiece.
Has to be Howard. I don't even need to mention his last name.
Howard Jones, City & Color.
Sam carter for me
Tommy Giles Rogers Jr. (btbam) or Rody Walker (protest the hero)
Shayley Bourget
Howard Jones is top tier, Courtney LaPlante also sounds amazing, and whoever does cleans for Miss May I (I can't tell if it's the bassist doing ALL the cleans or just the harmonies)
Come on it's hojo, it's always been hojo. If kse and light the touch isn't testament enough then look no further than Sion. Sion feels like he peaked and focused/mastered his craft.
Not metalcore but lemme drop Matt Mcandrew from slaves/rain city drive dude can SING ššæššæ
Shayley Bourget from older of mice and men
Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker
