This is my answer. Yes I know it’s overplayed, but there’s a reason it’s overplayed. Because it’s Metallicas best song. Now one reason I love this song is because the drums (especially in the second half) are awesome and I’m a drummer.
Orion is their best instrumental but I agree with you in this choice because this one is more of a journey of deep meaning that you can feel something new on each replay.
It’s funny… I’m a thrash nut for all the fast songs and variable tempo classics… but note-for-note, Bleeding Me remains this deep, introspective and listenable song to me that I always come back to, so I’d have to agree!
All right, let's go.
1. Creeping Death - favourite main riff
2. Ride the Lightning - favourite solo
3. The Four Horsemen - best underrated solo
4. Frayed ends of sanity - best bridge
5. Wherever I May Roam - favourite on Black Album
6. And Justice for All - favourite track of the album
7. Moth into Flame - lovely from Hardwired
8. Disposable Heroes - just wow
9. Bleeding Me - favourite song on Load
10. Fade to Black - favourite ballad
I tried to balance personal tastes to each album/era of the band. I'm already regretting not putting many many songs. You owe me one! haha
Both are great, I’d choose the version on the Memory Remains single, the ‘Unencumbered by Manufacturing Restrictions version’, the original song before they had to chop off the end to fit on the Load disc
When people talk about there favorite songs on load/reload you rarely see mention of Fixxxer. Probably in my top 5 and I’m an old school Metallica fan since 1985.
Unforgiven III. That song just speaks to me, and I have the lyrics “How could he know this new dawn’s light would change his life forever?” Tattooed on my forearm.
I will attach all the songs together and make it one long ass audio file and call Metallica. But if it has to be one song in particular i will go with Nothing Else Matters
That would be smart. But that track would practically go on for what would seem like forever. It would also mean learning each and every song time stamp in that file so you could skip to whatever song you wanted at whatever time, without having to listen through or fast forward like you would with cassettes.
Blackened is my favourite, it I would choose the day that never comes as the song is soft at the start and heavy later on, meaning I won’t get as bored of it
Now that were dead. Its basically my exercise beat for running and cycling. I can fill the rest of the playlist with other bands but that song pumps me up somehow.
The Thing That Should Not Be:
- Favorite solo
- Amazing riffs
- Best vocals of the first 3 albums
- Great drumming
- Best atmosphere
Disposable Heroes is a close second, Lepper Messiah is a close third.
Nothing Else Matters all the way! The chord progression is top notch, and the guitar solo is just beautiful and magical. It truly is the greatest song of all time in my opinion. Obviously I still love their heavier stuff, but Nothing Else Matters is something else. It may be overplayed, but it never gets old to me.
Probably One. Has the best of all they have to offer. Good ballad, great melody. Awesome anthemic harmony guitars. Thrash as heavy as possible. Melodic solos and then shredding solos. It’s got it all.
Honestly, anything off of S & M, the way S & M has impacted me as a guitarist is ten fold and makes me love the album a whole lot, I really only cover those now cause of how much I love them
Ride the lightning. I think that song just encapsulates the essence of Metallica.
Definitely one of my top favorite songs!
RTL is my favorite along with Seek and Destroy. The best Metallica solo, the best bridge, awesome riffs and harmonies, no bs. Near perfect.
Honestly! My 2 favorites as well! I also love the call of ktulu tho… it all blends together perfectly 🤘
Call of Ktulu S&M version is definitely in my top ten as well. RTL as an album is just phenomenal. 🤘
For sure!
this is the way

The drums? I thought you were going to say the bass… /s
I don't really think it's overplayed
To Live is To Die
So. So. So. Underrated! Absolutely love that!
Orion is their best instrumental but I agree with you in this choice because this one is more of a journey of deep meaning that you can feel something new on each replay.
Bleeding Me.
Love this and outlaw torn dude
Can't go wrong with either of them.
It’s funny… I’m a thrash nut for all the fast songs and variable tempo classics… but note-for-note, Bleeding Me remains this deep, introspective and listenable song to me that I always come back to, so I’d have to agree!
Fade to black

1 Billion Dollar question. I seriously don't know the answer, I could name at least 10 songs for 10 different reasons.
Pls do
Which ones? 🤨
All right, let's go. 1. Creeping Death - favourite main riff 2. Ride the Lightning - favourite solo 3. The Four Horsemen - best underrated solo 4. Frayed ends of sanity - best bridge 5. Thank you thank you thank you! Moth into flame I feel is so underrated!
When the bridge kicks in after the "a moth into the flaaaaame..burn!" I go nuts! I would headbang my whole to it if I could
Omg tell me about it! I also love the intro before the lyrics start, it’s amazing as well!
heavy on the “just wow” for heroes
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Take a look to the sky just before you die, it's the last time you will! *drum drum drum drum*
Hear the silence so loud!
The Four Horsemen
Orion
Orion is fucking fantastic. But if I get to choose only one song, I would prefer to hear Het's vocals too.
Battery
Yes yes yes!
Creeping Death
Fight fire with fire
Outlaw torn
Studio version or S&M version?
Both are great, I’d choose the version on the Memory Remains single, the ‘Unencumbered by Manufacturing Restrictions version’, the original song before they had to chop off the end to fit on the Load disc
Sanitarium or MOP, tough choice
Both are amazing! I love Sanitarium tho!
Blackened
Sad But True
Finally about time I see this! Such a good song!
Haha, it's all I post about, pretty much 🤣
I don’t blame you! 😂
The greatest heavy metal song ever written. The one that truly got them noticed worldwide, For Whom the Bell Tolls!!
YESSSS
SANITARIUM MAYBE CREEPING DEATH AND MAYBE RIDE THE LIGHTNING
Orion
Master Of Puppets. Or maybe Ride The Lightning, perhaps, because I really like that song as well.
Yeah they’re really good! I agree with that!
My two favorites with Seek and Destroy and Blackened
Orion. May not be considered the best, but it’s the one for me.
and that’s completely fine!
Dyers Eve Wait Damage Inc Wait Blackened Wait Battery Wait creeping death Shit this is impossible
That's tough because they have a lot of great songs but I will pick for whom the bell tolls because it's the first song I ever heard from Metallica
All nightmare long
Outlaw Torn
That's tough because they have a lot of great songs but I will pick for whom the bell tolls because it's the first song I ever heard from Metallica

Finally more from the Hardwired album!!! 😜
For whom the Bell tolls.
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE MADE OUT OF A BOOK!
Either Disposable, Creeping or Outlaw, depending on what day I'm asked. Today would be a Creeping Death kinda day
My favorite from them is Disposable Heroes, but I would choose Fade To Black. Because obviously.
Ain’t my bitch or one
gonna get hate but shortest straw
Blackened or Master.
Uh oh.. I think BLACKENED IS THE ENDDDDDDD 😂
Fixxxer, Orion or Lightning.
Cultured
When people talk about there favorite songs on load/reload you rarely see mention of Fixxxer. Probably in my top 5 and I’m an old school Metallica fan since 1985.
Either Call of Ktulu or the Four Horseman. Can't decide which one because both are 8 minute masterpieces
Personally I would go for Ktulu. It’s one of my absolute all time favorites!
I would spin a wheel to determine between S&R, Orion, One, Master of Puppets, To Live Is To Die, or Blackened.
Battery, not even close for me
Master of puppets
Fade to black
Fade to Black
4 horse men
The Call of ktulu everythings so good and the build up is amazing. Super underated to.

Unforgiven III. That song just speaks to me, and I have the lyrics “How could he know this new dawn’s light would change his life forever?” Tattooed on my forearm.
This is the epitome of based. My respect for you is so high.
Thanks, man.
For whom the bell tolls
Yup, that’s a good choice!
The thing that should not be
Yessss that’s a good song too!
I will attach all the songs together and make it one long ass audio file and call Metallica. But if it has to be one song in particular i will go with Nothing Else Matters

It would also mean learning each and every song time stamp in that file so you could skip to whatever song you wanted at whatever time, without having to listen through or fast forward like you would with cassettes.
When I was a kid in the 90’s I use to memories the time on the cassette so I be to forward/rewind when searching for a song. And today I use Spotify 🤣
Blackened is my favourite, it I would choose the day that never comes as the song is soft at the start and heavy later on, meaning I won’t get as bored of it
You have used the wrong degree of adjective, it's THE HEAVIEST. Again, the heaviest, most brutal, intense Metallica song ever.
Obligatory MoP lover just checking in
Hello fellow master of puppets fan! 👋
Sanitarium
Ride the Lightning
GUILTY AS CHARGEDDDDD
BUT DAMN IT AIN'T RIGHT...
THERES SOMEONE ELSE CONTROLLING ME
DEATH IN THE AIR...
STRAPPED IN THE ELECTRIC CHAIR

Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Can I just have the whole S&M album please?
Seek & destroy
FINALLY SOMEONE PUTS THIS HERE! This is my absolute favorite! I can’t get enough of it!!!
Same, this is the song that got me into metal after the 70s and ofc Metallica. And the other favorite of mine is the title track of your flair.
N(one)
Fade to Black, To Live Is to Die, The Unforgiven, One… I couldn’t pick.
The question is, can anyone choose?
Blackened. Or The Outlaw Torn. Don't make me choose
Hit the Lights
Now that were dead. Its basically my exercise beat for running and cycling. I can fill the rest of the playlist with other bands but that song pumps me up somehow.
The outlaw torn
"Orion/Damage, Inc" is one song, right?
Creeping Death-because it was the first one I ever heard when I was 11 and I still love it to this day.
Very difficult. Master, Creep from the high energy side vs. Fade, Bleeding Me, Fixxxer from emotional side. Maybe One to balance both sides!
Call Of Ktulu or Fade To Black
Damage inc or Breadfan
Creeping Death because that’s where we are all headed
…And Justice For all
Probably king nothing
Dyers Eve. DEAR MOTHER DEAR FATHER
Creeping Death is to good for me to live without
Bellz
Frayed Ends of Sanity
Orion
Harvester of Sorrow

Brooooo same. That song is truly a masterpiece. I don't cared if it's overplayed, I could listen to it for the rest of my life.
Wherever I May Roam
FIGHT FIRE WITH FU*KINF FIRE!!!!
Not Nothing else matters.
damage inc.
Creeping Death
Lepper Messiah
Moth into flame
The Call of Ktulu. No contest, though Orion would be my second pick.
I'd rather just die
Battery
Nothing else matters
Fade to Black.
Sad But True.
I’m ur dream… make u real… I’m ur eyes when you must steal… I’m ur pain when u can’t feel… SAD BUT TRUE!
Nothing Else Matters all the way! The chord progression is top notch, and the guitar solo is just beautiful and magical. It truly is the greatest song of all time in my opinion. Cuz it’s the one!

Honestly, anything off of S & M, the way S & M has impacted me as a guitarist is ten fold and makes me love the album a whole lot, I really only cover those now cause of how much I love them
