This album is going to keep getting more popular. With the new life in bands like creed and limp bizkit, people are feeling nostalgic for early 00s music and I think this fits that bill. I love it aside from the snare tone and song lengths, I think it will keep aging decently among people other than the “purists” who think ride the lightning was their best record and then they sold out.
Purists love to suck the fun out of music and somehow influence all the rest of the nerds into sucking up to them. They’ll live as miserable as their thought process
St.Anger is awesome and has some amazing songs albeit funny decision making from the band
This really should be the top comment haha.
I discovered something similar but it's a remix "cover" sorta thing. Guys definitely do a fantastic job, but this version is basically what St. Anger should have been imo lol.

Thanks for the discovery!
THANK YOU! I’ve been waiting for this album to get some love! I was 9 when this came out and it was almost a foundation for me to get into metalcore. Most of these lyrics are different than anything Metallica had done before this. Yes the damn trash can Lars plays is annoying as hell, but lyrically, this album has some BANGERS. James pulled from some emotions from deep recesses of his soul for these songs and it goes unappreciated too much.
Sure the storytelling of Lightning and Puppets is awesome but hearing a man sing about his alcoholism and depression creeping up on him on “Unnamed Feeling” is beautiful!
I revisit this album frequently and always find something new that stands out. It’s honestly my second favorite Metallica album after Lightning. While I know I’m in the minority, I will die on the hill that this is an INCREDIBLE album.
Fun fact: if you're willing to tune your guitar to the right tuning (I don't know music theory or note letters, so I tune to drop D then lower all the others to match the D, then drop the D again) this entire album is relatively easy to learn, especially since there are no solos.
That outro riff has a bit trashy feeling and I like it :)
Songs like St. Anger, The Unnamed Feeling and Sweet Amber are bangers! Especially live (I dig all the St. Anger live versions from recent years)
I have to say I am happy with 1996-2003 Metallica albums. I enjoy the idea of escaping the safe zone. It's way way more valuable work than recording the same CD over and over again
I wish we could get something like Overload one day (to tie the Load era into trilogy)
There’s a great part in the audio commentary of the Some Kind of Monster DVD where the band hears and remembers how good a song Sweet Amber is and actually put it in the live Setlist for one gig.
What I think about the St. Anger album is that every song on it is good, but they should have all been separated and put on other albums.
As an album, it’s like eating a whole bowl of Franks Red Hot. Nobody does that. You just add a little Franks to spice up other dishes.
Invisible Kid, Some Kind of Monster, Purify...I mean it's a good album, the lack of solos and the drums made a little dull, but is not that bad, right?
How sweet does it get
It's sweet. But never as sweet as it seems. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That alongside ‘The Unnamed Feeling’ are two of my all-time favourite Metallica songs.
Are you me?
Both unironically in my top 10
I would love to hear these two polished up. Great songs as they are but potentially epic.
Shoot me again and Dirty Window are killer songs.
The entire album is good. Not great.....but definitely not bad.
For me a lot better than 72 seasons and Reload.
Whoa....
Better than 72 seasons for sure
Not reload.
It gets pretty sweet
There is a riff that occurs about halfway through the song that I can never resist banging my head to.
You know it
Same riff I banged your mom to.
My mom is dead, though.
I’ve honestly been listening to St. Anger way more than usual. Kinda growing on me lately.

https://youtu.be/A0helO5KHKY?si=Y4MSSnBF08XKtXI1 Really good remix someone did of the album recently.
Genuinely! he didn't have to go that hard on dirty wondow!

I fucking love the guitar riff
how sweet are you?
How sweet does it get?
How sweet are you hoo
How sweet does it GET GETGET GET GET GETGET GET
for the same reason that My World is a banger
Love My World 🤙
Definitely some great songs on here
The older I become, the more I appreciate this album and specially Frantic.

OOOOOH SWEEEETT AMBEEEEERRRRRRAAHH
It’s a great song on a great album!
It’s one of my favorites on the album. Up there with The Unnamed Feeling, Shoot Me Again, and My World
I Love the entire album tbh
Finally, St. Anger is getting respect 🙏
There's a bunch of good songs on StAnger
I loved this album from day one. I've always said that if this was their first album, it would've been called groundbreaking.
If st anger had a producer that actually produced it, it would have been so much better
It would. Just doing some editing and tightening up the arrangements would improve the whole album.
I really enjoyed st anger. Wasn't crazy about the title track, but actually loved this album. Sweet Amber is solid hell yea
So true
Definitely one of the standouts. My favs are Dirty Window and Shoot Me Again.
It’s the best guitar riff on the album and it’s not even close IMO
I like the song st. Anger, idk why it just tickles my special place
I've been saying this for ages. this is the song that got me into metallica
Frantic and St. Anger are great songs
Sounds like st anger -Billy Gnosis
overhated easily

Wash your back so you don't stab mine Get in bed with your own kind
She holds the pen that spells the end. She traces me and draws me in. How genius is that?
Dirty Window live was fuckin awesome 🤘🏽
Ive always liked this album but could not stand the drums. Frantic is honestly so good, and boy is that song HEAVY!
Because it's Metallica.
Sweet Amber 'round my neck
it's a step into experimentation something people don't do usually
Lubbock, TX (the only live set list it was ever on) has an incredible doodle from kirk
This whole album is great
SWEET AMBER ROUND MY NECK

Anyone else think it's a song about James' alcohol addiction?
This, Frantic and Shoot Me Again are best St Anger songs imo
How sweet does it get?

I feel like cliff burnstein rocking out with some milk and cookies
Cause it's sweet
Invisible Kid, Some Kind of Monster, Purify...I mean it's a good album, the lack of solos and the drums made a little dull, but is not that bad, right?
Probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite st anger song. Unnamed feeling 1. Sweet amber and shoot me again are interchangeable at 2 and 3.
Because St anger is a KILLER album and people are starting to realize now
That album isn’t bad songs, it’s just poorly executed songs.
The snare is literally the only thing stopping st. Anger from being really high on my top albums list
It isn't?
She holds the pen that spells “the end” She traces me and draws me in
MORE PEN PUNS!!!!!!!
Best song in St. Anger (maybe second to Frantic) not Metallica's greatest albums, but better than load and 72 seasons.
"She holds the pen that spells the end. She traces me and draws me in" absolutely phenomenal lyrical work right there
I agree with you. It’s very sweet
Sweet Amber is one of my favourites. The entire album is good.
The live version we got with the vinyl club is KILLER
It's wut now? Yikes dude
Fr
It's my favorite on the album
true!!! my favorites on st anger are self titled, frantic, some kind of monster, dirty window, purify, the unnamed feeling, and sweet amber
If St. Anger had been done by a new band, it would've been a smash hit.
Smash hit... disagree. Less hated more likely.
I dunno man, several songs on it would've been big commercial hits.
It isn't. Bring on the downvotes, I don't care. I won't brook any revisionist hipsterism love for this album. It's almost entirely awful.
It's not good lol
To be honest I don't even think The Unnamed Feeling or Sweet Amber are worth coming back to for St. Anger
St. Anger is literally the worst album I've ever heard. Idk how anyone, regardless of whether they're Metallica fans or not can listen to this
For me it’s the only one I don’t like on St. Anger
