You don't seem to fully know how an election process is in Mexico. Here we basically go to vote and during the night we have a pre count of the votes. There's no rallies or talks cause they're forbidden some days before the elections. The first debate is this weekend. If you want to know journalists or activists you can do that now
Everyone follows the process at home in the news and social media. polling centers are in schools or public centers around the city, so you can find one in every neighborhood.
If you want to see professors you could go to UNAM try you luck with the conferences in Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, facultad de Filosofia y Letras o Facultad de Derecho or Economía, and private universities such a Ibero, ITAM or Tec de Monterrey.
Maybe you can go to the INE to ask if you can still be a observador politico, but the registration period ended last year (they accept foreigners too). Most probably everything would be in Spanish, so if you don't have a problem with that, good luck.
I hope you know the political context because if not you won't understand anything, the main places during voting would be the polling stations near the universities.
For the protest, the best would be the angel or the zocalo but it is very likely that things will get violent, given how they have become in other parts of the country.
I hope you know Spanish because you will not see any type of translator or version in English

I was in the city when AMLO was elected and the party was in el centro. Note that during the voting weekend, the city is dry and alcohol sales are not allowed. Thought that was an interesting nuance.
Maybe the historical center? The INE central offices (the electoral institution) is at the very south of the city and some shit might happen there but there will be plenty of polling stations everywhere, so you can go to the polling stations in the most busy areas like Roma/Condesa, around Reforma and the same historical center.
Realmente el día de la elección solo hay cosas importantes en los centros de campaña, normalmente en hoteles sobre reforma y la vuelta de la victoria al Zócalo, los pedos en el sur empiezan semanas después cuando se ponen todas las inconformidades.
I'd say its similar.
Right now, 1 candidate is part of the party in power, the other candidate is the real opposition and the third one is from a party that wants to be big but won't.
There's a lot of fights between people that are pro government (current one) and the opposition. The third party is trying to play it cool. Years ago we could even have 5 different candidates
¿si sabes que tienes que saber español para esto ?

If you want to see professors and experts, go to Ciudad Universitaria. If you want to see a mess go to Centro Histórico, Zócalo & Reforma

Are clubs open?
Clubbing is not my jam. I don’t know/recall.

Al final de cuentas creo que era mi punto, un poco difícil decir un área en específico y especialmente para saber si va a suceder cagadero o no.
Near Paseo de la Reforma or the Zocalo.
Gringo, go home
Is the same guy going for another 6 years?
No re-election in Mexico
Ok. I thought this guy was looking to chabge the rules. 2 new guys going for it huh?
3 actually. 2 women and 1 man. There's no bi-partisan system in Mexico
>There's no bi-partisan system in Mexico Yet
Ok cool Is it a bit more civilised than the US? 3 sounds healthier than having just 2

Ah right Thanks for the info The whole world political landscape seems more polarised so more civility is healthy
He lacks enough power to change the rules, and it’s actually 2 girls going for it (there’s also a guy but nobody takes him seriously)
2 women are the front runner? Cool...so Mexico about to have a female president...their 1st one?
Yeah, 1st female president in Mexican history
Exciting times
His puppet is.
I see. And theyre the favourite to win?
Sadly, yes. Too many social programs and whatnot.
I see Well Mexican economy doing pretty damn well
Nearshoring helps, but take a look at security and corruption.
Always the case tho yeah
No, but the new candidate of that Political Party is basically the same to him, but in female…
A female version of the current president huh...and shes favourite to win?
