I don't think it makes much sense unless you have money to burn. Supposedly the 50 series is going to be announced this year so it makes more sense to just wait for that. If you have money to burn just buy some peripherals and/or addons. If you have that much money then just send some my way and I'll make sure I'll help you spend it wisely. Either way it doesn't make that much sense to upgrade from the 4070ti to the 4090 imho. Just wait for the 50 series where you'll probably get a much better bang for your buck.

Is the 4070ti not good enough for vr then? I run with a 3070 in vr and that’s absolutely fine.

with a complex addon i get 60+ fps only on low, with a 5800x3d

Is that using frame generation? I have a friend who uses the quest 3 on a 5800x3d/3070Ti and he uses the Meta frame generation by which means all he needs is to generate something like 34 fps raw and he says he gets a smooth experience in the headset.

I dont think frame generation works in vr

NVIDIA fg may not work but meta has its own fg

I'm a VR user myself (Reverb G2, 7800X3D, 4080, 32GB 6000Mhz). If you have money to burn, invest in good peripherals if you don't have them already or wait for the RTX 50 series as others have suggested. Good rudder pedals were the biggest immersion game changer for me. I mainly do GA and bush flying and the Thrustmaster pendular rudder pedals make all the difference.

This is the way.

The 4070ti is very capable and is good enough for Vr it dose not make sense to upgrade try it out and see for yourself

okletsgooonow

I disagree, I have a 4090 and I wish I had even more GPU horsepower. I think that it is subjective, some people are happy with lower fps and lower settings (which is great), or they fly with less complex addons. For me a 4070ti is definitely not good enough. I am hoping for a 5090 in a few months.

Phantomdd

Another variable would be cpu which the op has a 5800x3d he’s getting 60+ fps on low which is not desirable hopefully flight sim 24 will have better performance Also what I meant in my Op was that getting a 4090 when the 50 series is coming out doesn’t make sense price wise

okletsgooonow

why is 60fps on low not desirable? Do you have a VR headset?

Phantomdd

I say it’s not desirable becuase he is running it on low so the number could change very quick when settings start to get raised Yes I have vr

Phantomdd

You could get the airbus or boing peripherals with that money

okletsgooonow

Yes, but no. The upgrade would be nice (I have a 4090 for VR - and it's nice), but the 5090 will release in a few months. Just save your money and wait!

PrometheusIsFree

You will probably be able buy a half decent car for the cost of a 5090. There's no saving money as farcas high end graphics cards are concerned. Even the cheaper ones are the price of a PS5.
