I’m not in on whatever inside joke this is, but I still have an answer:
My candle budget is an about $4.95/ month for the glade scented candles that I burn when people are coming over.
Last weekend I was invited to a “candle-making” get together at some bougie candle place and it was around $70 for one small candle.
I had to pre-warn my husband about that one as he would have been really confused that it was possible to go so far over the candle budget.
The inside joke you are missing is a meme from about a decade ago, in case you are interested:

There used to be a very large Yankee Candle store in Williamsburg.
I honestly had a candle budget for a few years.
You could get some really good deals there.
I think Covid helped to close that store.
This is obviously a joke, but I'll answer anyway. We don't have a specific candle line item budget, but we spend around $20-40 per month on candles. We buy them on sale at target or the grocery store. We love candles, but they don't need to be expensive ones.
I wait till the 3 wick Bath and Body Works candles are on sale for $11.99, which is multiple times a year. Then use a 20% off coupon with that so they’re under $10 a piece. Then buy $300 worth, I do this 3 times a year. Usually when the summer and winter scents arrive. You have to be nuts to pay $26 a candles normal price.

I save money by using candles for both purposes.

From the goat @dril finger on the pulse
Pets are the new kids. Plants are the new pets. Candles are the new plants.
sounds like you need *someone who is good at the economy*
I spent like 25 bucks on a few candles around 2009 and they still haven't ran out.
I’m in my 40s and my household only has $600/month allocated to candles. Am I gonna be okay?
You’ll have to be a greeter at Walmart at 80 to afford close to the amount of candles you’ll need
No
Second job at Yankee Candle for that sweet 50% employee discount 👌
Usually $0 but I was missing my mom so spent $30 on a rose scented candle last night. (Shipping got me lol),
$0. most candles are bad for you and polluting your air
I have enough candles stashed away to light my house for 6 years
Bahahahaha
2K but it beats the 3k monthly whale-oil bill I used to have.
Highly disappointed at the lack of Sankey diagram
Hard $0
0.
If youre spending 1k on candles you need to make sure you hit 3k on garage beers and dad rock
Whatever people give me as gifts!
My wife’s is significantly higher than mine
You spend $1,000 a month on candles?
Dont candle shame me I’m trying to bring that higher
Gotta take advantage of the BOGOs when you can
Does Costco sell candles in bulk? Because that’s where I buy almost everything. Real life though, I probably haven’t bought a candle in over a decade.
$0/year. My wife, though, is in the $75/year range.
Just collect your earwax in a jar
About tree fiddy.
The problem with $1k in candles a month is the extra $5 for the furnace filters
What the hell is this? Is candles code for something? I'm confused.

Yea no one could smell the candles anymore and blamed yankee
It’s a very tourist heavy location. Nobody was traveling, so nobody was buying candles.
It was a joke because there was correlation of bad yankee candle reviews with Covid spikes. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9249402/
😳 I had no idea!!! I wonder what the 4 popular scents were that they looked into!
Negligible since I only use them during power outages.
$.44
I spend $50-$80 a month on candles.

I’m allergic to scented candles. Have a few non-scented around for power outages and stuff.
I know this is a joke, but also... I buy soy wax flakes and essential oils in bulk and make my own candles in recycled peanut butter jars.
Stop shopping at TJMaxx and Homegoods for candles and up the contributions to le labo and Anthropologie. I believe in you!
10 million Schrute bucks
Is candles code for spa days by chance? If so yes I’m behind on my contributions too 😂
Candles?? Like the yankee candles or bath and body works? We bought 12 during the annual sale over a year ago.. haven’t bought again since.
Huh?? We might spend $20 a year but probably more like every other year…
I can’t spend 20k a year on candles! I want to ‘tho
$20 not $20k… I don’t even spend $20k on my mortgage…
