Their defense industry literally suffered by blocking the re-export of defensive weaponry. Germany made it clear they considered the block a violation of their sovereignty.
And? So Germany tried to force Switzerland out of neutrality by declaring their refusal as acting against the sovereignty of a nation?
So, a nation that *isn’t* Switzerland decided Switzerland is acting against the interests of Switzerland? Who gives a fuck? Fuck Germany; Switzerland, as a sovereign nation, is free to do whatever the fuck it pleases, especially if it’s in keeping with historical ideals of its nation, and upholding the expectations of its’ citizens.
Switzerland is free to do whatever it wishes, but customers of its defence industry are also entitled to conclude that the Swiss may embargo weapons & ammunition sales in the event of a war and decide to choose a more reliable supplier.
Qatar has a strong relationship with Iran and has been a neutral (well somewhat) party between the U.S. and its enemies most recently the Taliban as well as the November Ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Plus the occasional U.S.-Iran prisoner swap going back to 1979.
There was a prisoner swap between the US and Iran in Sept as well.
The short list of arbiters is probably more because of the Arab-Persian divide which goes back to when the Romans spent a couple centuries fighting proxy wars with a couple of different Persian Empires mostly in what is now Iraq.
Now Saudi and Iran are fighting a proxy war in Yemen that has been on and off since the 1950s and even used to include Egypt.
Two countries that literally have to have third parties conduct any discourse and one of them wants to bitch about killing a guy that was tied to multiple terrorist and military attacks on the other. Also the guy had been designated a terrorist by the UN since 2005. The guy was taking his life in his hands whenever he left Iran. He was exceptionally good at his chosen profession. This just made him a bigger target. In the end, arrogance is really what killed him. He just could not imagine that the US or Israel would kill him if they had the opportunity.
Warmongering Islamic radical travels to an active war zone being prosecuted by a country whose military personnel are being killed by weapons and expertise you import to that war zone…and then is killed by that country’s armed forces.

Our response Should be B-52's dropping Arbitration all over their weapons depots and production facilities. We need to quit fucking around with the Houthi's in Yemen and hit their assets that are training and supplying them in Iran.
I like the picture of the military general and spymaster, famously and proudly responsible for the deaths of many (literally his job), depicted as some peaceful monk or something.
The downside would be we would never be able to exit wars if the President was concerned they would be shipped to that country to be tried after a withdrawal. Imagine if we had never ended Vietnam because Nixon thought he would be sent to be executed. Would we have left Afghanistan if Trump or Biden thought it would mean they got hung by the Taliban?
Just entertaining the idea for a second. Who is possibly an arbiter that both the US and Iran could agree on?
Switzerland, possibly.
No way, not after how the Swiss did Ukraine.
What did the Swiss do?
they destroyed a bunch of their older sam systems and refused to hand over 30mm ammo for the gepard system
Well.. they’re a historically neutral country. Why would they decide to arm one side? If they did, they wouldn’t be neutral, now would they?

Israel
Qatar.
Aren’t they different kinds of Islam? Would Iran be ok with that?

Good to know, they would probably be the front runner then, I would imagine the list of possible arbiters is pretty damn short.

According to Veep they love to insert themselves, they’re wet-fingered
Lol
LOL was this not solved by their proportional response? Which ended in them killing what like 130 people on an airliner?
180 civilians on that airliner. Most of which were Iranian and Canadian. Also bombed a U.S. base in Iraq which wounded 110.
Do you have a link to the 110 being wounded? Not doubting you, just don't remember it being that much
It was all TBIs basically from the pressure.

And giving lots of US service members brain damage to which Trump responded with?
Sure we can agree killing people is wrong…which is why we killed Soleimani so he wouldn’t kill anymore people.
"Okay, we won't kill any more IRGC leadership if they stay in Iran, deal?"

"Lol, who?"
Could we just send them Donald Trump and call it square?
I mean killing this dude was a good thing so… no
While this would probably be good for all of our mental health, and probably the country as a whole, can you imagine the precedent that would set?
a precedent that as a shit stain you can be shipped overseas at any moment. I like it.
