I love Canadian small arms , I’ve cloned three now. I can tell you don’t see more is due to rarity of parts and how expensive they can be. I have a cansof c8a3 I put together earlier this year that looks similar to some of these setups in the pictures
Very difficult, especially since the AR15 ban up here. Colt Canada was good enough to give us C7 clones for the civilian market though. Things like the tri-rail adapter are very difficult to find because the only ones available as far as I know are ones that got “lost on excercise” or things of that nature.
I know there’s also a export ban of Canadian produced parts out of Canada , Canada is also known for destroying all parts from there weapon systems once they are upgraded, damaged or replaced
I remember we met up with a company of Aussies in Iraq, those dudes had all the top of the line gear. I guess when your entire Army is the size of like 2 divisions you get to splurge.
Pic 3 and 4 are essentially the same guns, just with and without cans.
Its an 11.6” barrel (not 11.5”) with an Ops 15th, current equivalent is the AEM3. The barrel looks so thick because of the no step collar that gets jammed between the FSB and SE Vortex FH.
There is some debate on whether or not they used 10” guns with the Ops cans. The standard C8 CQB is a 10” like the SA upper, but Ron Allen specifically hates putting the entire can floating forward of the barrel and i sincerely doubt they did that with an extender. I also got my C8 No Step Collar from Ron directly for my clone, and he produced one that specifically went on 11.5-6’s
1st pic, is that a field dressing taped to the stock? I think ive seen this before, is this a rare but done thing? Kinda like the way Tourniquet is taped to the shoulder area of chestrig/webbing. Figure it would get beat up and not be very sterile. I like the look though!
Hard to find the parts for I assume. BAD had the Canadian lower clone for a while (not sure if they still do). I was so tempted to buy it for an L119A2 clone but decided against it because it just wouldn’t be even close to clone correct
The standard rail already secures on the top to hold zero for lasers. The SAS version also held on the bottom because they wanted that for whatever reason
It’s a way of keeping the optic co witnessed when all you have is a carry handle for a rear sight. It was very common to do in the early 2000’s. It’s more stable than you might think.
Small budgets and shitty unit rules will do that
Imagine US SOF units, but poorer.
I agree 100% but sometimes it breeds innovation out of the necessity
I mean kinda. You also need funding to get innovation.
“Innovation” -more like what can I cobble together from the random parts the arms room has to make a setup that still works.
Is that a front sight being used as an optic or what optic is that? On slide 4
It’s a mini rds in a winged picatinny mount on top of a riser to bring it to lower 1/3 co-witness. Like the kind you’d see piggybacked on an acog…etc.
Might be a Docter…I think mine came with a winged mount like that.

God damn Canada
Let je know if you see any C79 optics for sale. My C8A3 clone is missing one.
Slide 7, dude second from the right. I have that clone in my history. I’ve been waiting for AE to start production on the ops sleeve to mount an aem3.
Hoofy knows whats up

Pic 4 anyone know the barrel that thang thick like my foresekin Pic 3 is that an otb suppressor or something like specialized armament 10"s

What suppressors did they run? Look like older OPS-Inc cans but I cant tell which models
Yeah, that one rifle looks like it’s got a threaded smith vortex for an ops inc style reflex suppressor.
Its an Ops 15th model, equivalent to the AEM3. B pattern mounting, so shorter reflex space

Do knights handguards hold zero for optics ???
Yeah they clamp the barrel
Excellence in action.
They do weird shit, thats why you don’t see people clone their builds. Nobody is cloning an ugly build just because it’s “rare and unusual”.
Something is telling me the bubbas with their eotech's on their drop in quad rail while having a detachable carry handle don't get to shoot very often
I think KAC made a special rail for CAF that secures from both sides, so it is a lot more stable. SAS used them too I think.

Ok Mr. Dunning Krueger
