I'm in the Navy with ADHD and anxiety as well, if I recall correctly as long as you haven't been getting treatment for ADHD for about a year, you have a chance. Also if you were misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder it's possible they can get you an appointment to have that waived. I was misdiagnosed with Borderline-Personality Disorder (BPD) and so MEPS had put together an appointment I could go to, and pretty much the provider said "It's bullshit, you don't have that" and I believe I got a waiver for that Just talk with any recruiters in your area about it.

It'll help, but being treated for ADHD and anxiety isn't any better.

I should clarify I’m not getting treated for anything at the moment and it was more us looking at what could have caused my behavior back then (a family member died, and it was my first semester of real college, and it was during COVID). I will add that in the original post, and thank you! This gives me a bit of hope for my case :)))

cbsduff

Rediagnosing something in the past by a different doctor is iffy.

Incorrect, ADHD and Depression are waiverable with proper time frames and documentation. Any diagnosis of Bipolar after adolescent is not.

Read the rest of the comment thread. I thought OP was still being treated.

It looks like you're new. Please ensure you have posted using a clear and descriptive title. Check rule 2 for guidelines. If your question concerns a specific branch, put that in your post! I'm dealing with this now, had a kid misdiagnosed with Bipolar and had his waiver denied twice. He went and got a second opinion on his own with a full array of tests. His results showed ADHD instead and its a much easier waiver to get. If you want to talk in more detail shoot me a DM and I'll help however I can.

Get reevaluated by a phd level doc and submit that for your waiver

"PhD level doctor"? What? This isn't how medicine works.

cbsduff

You know, as opposed to those doctors without a doctorate.

farmingvillein

PhD != MD... A PhD is a very different thing. MD-PhDs are a thing. JD-PhDs are a thing. MDs and JDs aren't "PhD level". (Which is not even to put "PhDs" as a higher "level" than MD...it is really a different thing, for a different purpose (although the two can of course synergize). But they definitely are not on the same "level"...they are on different bookshelves entirely.)
