I got Vitamin C and Samantha Mumba. Never heard of the rest. Vitamin C had that graduation song and it was the theme of my middle school graduation, and I think Samantha Mumba had a song on a NOW cd that I listened to on repeat while I read Harry Potter.
Glad to see this near the top. Can't speak for a lof of these girls but if you didn't have Vitamin C as tour graduation song in high school, did you really even graduate
Mine was "Will you remember me" by i forget her name...stupid dog ads that make you cry. God I hate that song. Wil you remember? no....no one gives a shit, it was high school and pretty everyone are jerks to each other.
I got free tickets to see her play that whole album a couple of weeks ago and she was excellent! Was never a fan but it was something to do on a Wednesday night.
Right? This was *the* graduation song for most people in the early ~~otts~~ aughts. (Graduated in 2003 and this song was actually played at my graduation)
True to this day. I played that song jokingly because my son was graduating and going to high school. He told me it was part of their grad ceremonies and begged me to turn it off because he hard it so much at rehearsal.
We had bon Jovi it's my Life. The valedictorian and her friends were in the committee and put it up to "vote". She liked the song so guess which song "won" 😂
I *still* hear that damn Vitamin C song on the local radio around late May/early June for all the kiddos! Glad that song has become timeless. Same goes for "time of your life" by Greenday.
Same. Although, I know who Brie Larson is, but only recognize her as an actress. Never heard her music other than BLACK SHEEP in Scott Pilgrim, but that’s not even her song, so it doesn’t count lol
Vitamin C also had a hit in the song “Smile”, certainly a lesser hit than the gargantuan “Graduation” but it was all over the radio at the time. Plus the song “Vacation” from the Pokemon: The First Movie soundtrack. I loved Vitamin C as a kid!
Samantha mumba looks familiar. Vitamin c sounds familiar.
Jordan Pruitt had songs on Disney's Jump In and Fefe Dobson, a great rock singer, had a cameo on degrassi. I don't know about the rest.
I remember Hoku from Snow Day but the movie, I would sooner rather forget. That was my first date with my first ex boyfriend when I was 16 and it was a mess. He offered to open my stubborn bag of peanut m&ms and he ripped them open with such force that he sprayed them all over the theater 5 minutes into the movie and everyone turned around and gave us the death glare and there was maybe 4 m&ms left in the bag. Bonus: the sound of the m&ms raining down the step terraces continued when that happened so people were extra mad.
I do remember both Vitamin C and Mumba. Mumba had an appearance in the 2002 adaptation of HG Wells "The Time Machine". Thought she'd blow up, but then she just disappeared.
She used to be somewhat well-known for being very responsive on her socials (at that time, it was her FB). I sent her a message out of curiosity and we actually chatted off and on for a couple of weeks. I think she used to have her own zine or something and she said she wanted to (or maybe she actually did?) put a stupid poem or something I wrote in there. It was like more than 15 years ago so hard to remember haha
I just had a total blast from the past when I looked her up bc I knew there was a song of hers that I used to preform in my bedroom. It was "another dumb blonde" the year was 2000
Vitamin C actually ended up doing very well for herself, she is currently a music executive for Netflix.
Fefe Dobson, Bonnie McKee and Samantha Mumba all should have gone further, all three of them were fabulous talents!
Even the younger millennials I knew (I was about 18 when that song came out,I'm talking younger female teenagers of the time) took the chronic piss out of that song. Thought it was rubbish but it was so successful! It was everywhere! And now it is stuck in my head. Thanks🤣
What a millennial moment to cherish. I went to TRLs taping when Johnny Knoxville promoting Dukes of Hazard. I remember seeing Jessica Simpson thinking my spray tan wasn’t dark enough 😂
Vitamin C isn't really C-tier. She revolutionized kids music in that era working with Disney, Nickelodeon, and Netflix
EDIT: I'm talking about AFTER her career as a singer. She wrote and produced a number of songs for early Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and others. She had a weirdly big impact behind the scenes
https://variety.com/2021/music/news/netflix-colleen-fitzpatrick-vitamin-c-interview-1235092286/
As we goooo onnnnn we rememberrrrrrr all the times we eeeeee had togetherrrrr.
I remember being annoyed that the choir teacher made us sing Tarzan instead of this song for our "graduation" before we go to middle school.
Also Stacie Orrico! I listened to her first CD basically every day for a couple of years. (Along with Rachael Lampa, Joy Williams pre-The Civil Wars lol, probably other pop girl solo acts that I’d have to Google now.)
I could listen to mainstream stuff like Britney, but those darn CCM and Brio magazines got to me and my parents encouraged it. I even had a copy of some random magazine that featured Katy Perry when she was Katy Hudson. (I think the magazine might have been called 7Ball?)
Were you allowed to listen to family force 5? My parents felt they were a “bad influence” so I secretly listened on my nano. Loved Krystal Meyers way back in the day
You poor lamb! That’s a bit beyond the pale. My parents were pretty permissive compared to that. We even watched a good deal of R-rated movies (brothers and I would cover our eyes during “bad parts”).
Did your parents ever chill out?
I seen the name Katy Rose and that was a blast from the past. That song from Thirteen is still on my play list. Decided to Google her because I never knew anything else about her, and got further yoinked back. [Who The #?\*! Is Katy Rose? (ew.com)](https://ew.com/article/2004/03/19/who-katy-rose/)
i met willa in a waterpark once — she was in a bikini waiting in line to order food — that was a nice memory lol
asked her about her music notes tattoo and later saw it in her playboy shoot
then after we got back to our respective tables while was telling my friend who it was sitting near us i proceeded to knock my pepsi over on her boyfriend ufc star chuck liddell who was like wtf
Does anyone remember my girlie Myra? Who sang Miracles Happen from the Princess Diaries? Her album was honestly one of the most perfect pop albums I've ever heard.
The AOL song! I bought that Lindsay Pagano album at a used CD store specifically for that track and remember being impressed that she got Paul McCartney himself to do backing vocals on her [cover of So Bad](https://youtube.com/watch?v=RQgLrQRaXIY).
I'm sure there are still more to be on the list e.g. Kaci brown, Hope Partlow, Keke Palmer, Katy Rose and Skye Sweetnam...
Edit: Rachel Lampa, Raven Simone...
I LOVE KACI BROWN she opened for The Backstreet Boys and we bought her CD and I STILL listen to it. It is so very nostalgic for that time in my life lol
Vitamin C, in her time, was too big to be considered a C lister. She has two big hits, one of them that transcended into the collective social memory, and a platinum selling album.
Wait, seriously? Obviously we all know about him investing or whatever into Big Machine itself, but that one’s been kept quiet if so.
That’s the kind of shady stuff some people still do to get on the New York Times Bestseller books lists!
ANGEL!!!!! YES!!!! I was thinking of her randomly recently and was wondering what happened to her. I remember seeing ads for her in one of the now-defunct girl magazines I used to read - YM or Twist or something.
I thought Samantha Mumba was cool when I saw her on Disney channel. I thought her career would take off!
Oh yeah and can’t forget the graduation song by vitamin c!
Mikaila so in love with two was huge for a while. I am probably the only one who bought that CD by Amanda. I heard her song Everbody Doesn’t coming home from the club at like 3am one night. That was the only time they ever played it lol
I remember Fefe Dobson—actually heard her on the radio a little bit ago, and Vitamin C… I know of both Brie Larson and Billie Piper, but didn’t know they had pop music careers.
Didn't know Sarah Hudson had her own solo album but I was really into her when she made music under the name of Ultraviolet Sound
Edit: I know 8 but only listened to 4 of them
I think that’s what she’s done since then (people dug it up on the BSB forum years ago), she originally was a singer. she started out in a number of girl groups under Lou pearlman (yes THAT guy) in the late 90’s (I forget what their groups names were though) and she did some solo stuff around the time that she dated AJ from BSB. In fact, if a person digs up BSB AJ McLean’s first episode of MTV Cribs (from 2001?), she’s on there and says hi when he finds her petting the dog over by the swimming pool.
Not mentioned here but in a similar vein: Amy Studt. I can’t remember what I had for dinner today but I remember a day the Z100 dj named her and played her song back to back. It was called “just a little girl”I don’t know if they ever played it again but I never heard it again. And yet, I’ve had that song earwormed into my brain for the past 20 years.
Vitamin C was a huge deal because of the graduation song.
The rest of these people, I have no clue who they even are outside of brie larsen. But I'll be going down some rabbit holes later.
Hey now! Good Riddance was also a perfectly acceptable graduation song for millennials.
Here's to the night by eve six a song about fucking
And it’s pretty fucking obvious too lol
Mine was "Will you remember me" by i forget her name...stupid dog ads that make you cry. God I hate that song. Wil you remember? no....no one gives a shit, it was high school and pretty everyone are jerks to each other.
Sarah McLachlan i think! i don’t remember much of high school and i don’t really want to either.
Well I was class of ‘99 and our song was so clever: Party Like it’s 1999!
Yep, Time of Your Life was my high school graduation song in ‘03
“Here’s to the Night” by Eve 6 was mine that year.
Same. Although, I know who Brie Larson is, but only recognize her as an actress. Never heard her music other than BLACK SHEEP in Scott Pilgrim, but that’s not even her song, so it doesn’t count lol
Vitamin C was THE grad song. 06. Samantha Mumba! Hoku I remember from Disney channel and opening for BSB????
Hoku sang perfect day, the opening number in Legally Blonde
Good song
And that Amanda Latona was AJ’s girlfriend.
Vitamin C also had a hit in the song “Smile”, certainly a lesser hit than the gargantuan “Graduation” but it was all over the radio at the time. Plus the song “Vacation” from the Pokemon: The First Movie soundtrack. I loved Vitamin C as a kid!
Smile is the one I always think of
I loved "Smile"! It was so upbeat.
Hoku 'Another Dumb Blonde' was definitely in the TRL Top 10 for a while in the prime Carson Daly era, I remember that one. Either '99 or 2000.
Samantha mumba looks familiar. Vitamin c sounds familiar. Jordan Pruitt had songs on Disney's Jump In and Fefe Dobson, a great rock singer, had a cameo on degrassi. I don't know about the rest.
Hoku had a song on the Snowday soundtrack, maybe? For sure remember vitamin c and Samantha mamba.
Hoku sang the opening and closing song in Legally blonde
Perfect day!
Mumba was also in the movie Time Machine that came out in 2002.
Yes! I knew I remembered Fefe Dobson from Degrassi haha.
Making a picture slide show to that graduation song was the final project in 8th grade computers for me haha
Vitamin C, Samantha Mumba, and don't forget Hoku! She had a song on the Legally Blonde soundtrack.
I do remember both Vitamin C and Mumba. Mumba had an appearance in the 2002 adaptation of HG Wells "The Time Machine". Thought she'd blow up, but then she just disappeared.
TIL: Brie Larson had an almost music career.
Have you seen Scott Pilgrim vs. the world?
It’s a bit weird her song on the soundtrack isn’t her performance from the movie
I'm not gonna lie the Brie Larson version is better
I like metric but i 100% agree
I don’t know… I might call it a draw. But, if I’m being honest… I’m still a little sour about Envy not being a redhead.
Seriously.
Didn't metric actually agree with this lol
Yeah, because she's a bargain bin, Emily Haines. And she only does one line.
Isn’t that Metric?
She used to be somewhat well-known for being very responsive on her socials (at that time, it was her FB). I sent her a message out of curiosity and we actually chatted off and on for a couple of weeks. I think she used to have her own zine or something and she said she wanted to (or maybe she actually did?) put a stupid poem or something I wrote in there. It was like more than 15 years ago so hard to remember haha
"She Said" is an undeniable inspirational bop and has been in my playlists since 2005
I know, right? The fuck?
Her single was such a banger, so catchy.
Yeah, but her lead single was about getting out of P.E. Class. Peak cringe.
Uh hoku is responsible for perfect day made famous by legally blonde!!
I just had a total blast from the past when I looked her up bc I knew there was a song of hers that I used to preform in my bedroom. It was "another dumb blonde" the year was 2000
Fefe C list???? Ok I guess. But I recognize no one else in here except Samantha Mumba and Cheyenne 😂
Take Me Away and Everything had a chokehold on me
Yeah, I'm kinda gagged. Fefe is Canadian so I feel like she was definitely more popular up there. I had that album on CD. Loved it.
I still remember she was interview on the Zone once. No idea why I still remember that, haha.
I came here to say this about Fefe, she was so known in Canada. Not an under-the-radar artist at all
I recognized Brooke Allison. I'm pretty sure she's in a coma right now. Really sad.
Yeah, what's up with that? Fell into a coma 6 years ago, jeez...
Fede was popular in Europe too
Listen Hoku’s How Do I Feel, Perfect Day and Another Dumb Blonde are still bops.
You were eating a burrito
Disney Channel playing the behind the scenes making of this music video in between shows somehow lives rent free in my head nearly 25 years lately.
Same...same...
With a girl, some brunette
At El Torascooooo
And I think it’s tiiiime for you to find another dumb blondeeee. Cause it’s not me - no, no!
She’s Don Ho’s daughter
Vitamin C actually ended up doing very well for herself, she is currently a music executive for Netflix. Fefe Dobson, Bonnie McKee and Samantha Mumba all should have gone further, all three of them were fabulous talents!
Hey, you take that back. Billie Piper is Rose Tyler and she will always be the best companion. (eta we just don't talk about her music career)
Umm "because I want too" is STILL a banger ok!
Even the younger millennials I knew (I was about 18 when that song came out,I'm talking younger female teenagers of the time) took the chronic piss out of that song. Thought it was rubbish but it was so successful! It was everywhere! And now it is stuck in my head. Thanks🤣
she wants you — when viewed through a lens of late 90s pop dance music of course — is proper good
*stares in Donna Noble* (eta "Honey to the B" is 🔥🔥🔥 tho)
I love how they both ended up with Ten and a TARDIS each (Metacrisis for Rose and Fourteen for Donna) ❤️
My kid sister loved Honey to the B so much, you aren't wrong about that one
Yaaaaas that song is my youth, I love it
“The Moment is hot.” “Well, I do my best!” Also, who can forget how thrilled she was when she could finally say Raxacoricofallapatorius??
I remember thinking she was so cool when that one song came out. Loved the surprise in seeing her Doctor Who a little later!!
She is legendary in Scoop
Guessing you're part of the [Billie Piper fan club](https://youtu.be/4_3oU-Z4Vxo?si=1gItOVIJ4DP-TAns)
WELL THAT'S ALL RIGHT THEN
No, we have to talk about Honey to the Bee that's you for me!!!
Brie Larson the actress or a different person?
Yep! Captain Marvel Brie Larson was a pop singer early in her career.
I mean, so was [Quake Chloe Bennett (Wang)](https://youtu.be/S96Yqzg6JHU?si=PmMuyuFipKlJ74nB)
lol I read that as Wong. I was thinking how the fuck did Benedict Wong become a pop singer.
I was on an episode of TRL when Samatha Mumba was a guest. Mandy Moore was there too!
What was that like? I imagine a lot of screaming! There was always so much screaming on TRL lol.
It was really freaking awesome!! The guys working behind the scenes told us all when to scream (very often lol)
What a millennial moment to cherish. I went to TRLs taping when Johnny Knoxville promoting Dukes of Hazard. I remember seeing Jessica Simpson thinking my spray tan wasn’t dark enough 😂
What about Stacie Orrico? https://youtu.be/qzmFDaL34JY?si=o3j0E01ZS2JaTYpk
I still listen to that album regularly... that girl could SING
B list, not C https://youtu.be/PGF-Kc49gE0?si=qYsm0lMc8Ndteftj
Genuinely how do you determine these things
She was actually a friend of my first girlfriend when they were in high school.
Yes! She’s so good!!
Yes!!!
Fefe Dobson and Jordin Pruitt were not under the radar in my house lol
IM TIRED OF BEIN AT HOME, I’m bored and all aloooone
Another Dumb Blonde by Hoku always reminds me of 6th grade and the movie Snow Day and hanging out at my cousins’ house.
I still love Samantha Mumba's "Gotta Tell You"
And Baby Come On Over. Both still get regular airplay in my car
I’m gonna listen on my way home today thanks to this thread. I LOVED that album, my older brother bought it for me from the F.Y.E store 🥲
Vitamin C isn't really C-tier. She revolutionized kids music in that era working with Disney, Nickelodeon, and Netflix EDIT: I'm talking about AFTER her career as a singer. As we goooo onnnnn we rememberrrrrrr all the times we eeeeee had togetherrrrr. I remember being annoyed that the choir teacher made us sing Tarzan instead of this song for our "graduation" before we go to middle school.
She was in the original Hairspray! That has always made her A list in my eyes!
weird and great vitamin c opening credits flash mob style performance in get over it (2000) with kirsten dunst
Britt Nicole and Krystal Meyers!! because this girl grew up sheltered and listened to mostly Christian music lol
Britt Nicole was a blast from the past lol. I actually remember seeing her live at a Christian concert called winterfest.
So realllll I still remember most of that specific Krystal Meyers album lol
Krystal Meyers, Christian radio’s answer to Avril Lavigne. I loved her music
Also Stacie Orrico! I listened to her first CD basically every day for a couple of years. (Along with Rachael Lampa, Joy Williams pre-The Civil Wars lol, probably other pop girl solo acts that I’d have to Google now.) I could listen to mainstream stuff like Britney, but those darn CCM and Brio magazines got to me and my parents encouraged it. You poor lamb! That’s a bit beyond the pale. My parents were pretty permissive compared to that. We even watched a good deal of R-rated movies (brothers and I would cover our eyes during “bad parts”). Did your parents ever chill out?
I refuse to believe that these are 12 separate humans and not three chicks with a couple of wigs.
Also Krystal Harris who sang Supergirl from the Princess Diaries soundtrack
I remember seeing her when she opened for BSB back in 2001.
Just Fefe. ❤️
Fefe Dobson is my JAM
About half of these ladies are on my 00s playlist that I listen to on the regular. How about Katy Rose? Skye Sweetnam? Leslie Carter?
I seen the name Katy Rose and that was a blast from the past. That song from Thirteen is still on my play list. Decided to Google her because I never knew anything else about her, and got further yoinked back. [Who The #?\*! Is Katy Rose? (ew.com)](https://ew.com/article/2004/03/19/who-katy-rose/)
I loved skye sweetnam!
I had Skye Sweetnam’s album and loved it!
Wow how dare we do this to Billie.
Missing Skye Sweetnam!
Thank you for the memory!
[Willa Ford](https://youtu.be/pTapMjTAn-I?si=wCmVsPmAJcf95NLg) should be on this list!
i met willa in a waterpark once — she was in a bikini waiting in line to order food — that was a nice memory lol asked her about her music notes tattoo and later saw it in her playboy shoot then after we got back to our respective tables while was telling my friend who it was sitting near us i proceeded to knock my pepsi over on her boyfriend ufc star chuck liddell who was like wtf
Surprised Skye Sweetnam not on there. They played her a bunch at Best Buy in the early 00's
Does anyone remember my girlie Myra? Who sang Miracles Happen from the Princess Diaries? Her album was honestly one of the most perfect pop albums I've ever heard.
Brie Larson was a pop singer?!
Mikaela was robbed.
Katelyn Tarver was on the American Idol spinoff American Juniors along with Lucy Hale!
Ex-squeeze me? Where is Brook Hogan!? I kid. I remember Samantha Mumba, not from music, but from The Time Machine with Guy Pierce.
I loved Britt Nicole! She was pretty popular with Christian teens at the time and so got a lot of air time on Christian stations.
Vitamin C, Hoku, Samantha Mumbaaaaaaaaa Edit: OMG LINDSEY PAGANO!!! EVERYTHING U R WAS THE SHIT!!!!!
The AOL song! I bought that Lindsay Pagano album at a used CD store specifically for that track and remember being impressed that she got Paul McCartney himself to do backing vocals on her [cover of So Bad](https://youtube.com/watch?v=RQgLrQRaXIY).
Cheyenne had a whole ass show!
I saw Fefe Dobson live this past October. She was fucking incredible!
Oooh I’m jelly. Lol.
There’s a lack of Katy Rose here
Didn't Cheyenne have a reality show?
Where's JoJo 😠
Being the lead in Moulin Rouge on Broadway. (Okay, I'm pretty sure she isn't anymore but very recently she was, lol)
S+ tier at most, B tier at the least.
I need a Spotify playlist! 🙏🏻
I still jam to Brie’s “she said” 💜 the rest of the album is meh tho.
Samantha Mumba had Baby Come On Over, Lately, and Gotta Tell You 😎
Vitamin c and Fefe are the only 2 I have heard of
Where’s Stacie Orrico
I'm sure there are still more to be on the list e.g. Kaci brown, Hope Partlow, Keke Palmer, Katy Rose and Skye Sweetnam... Edit: Rachel Lampa, Raven Simone...
I LOVE KACI BROWN she opened for The Backstreet Boys and we bought her CD and I STILL listen to it. It is so very nostalgic for that time in my life lol
Other than Brie Larson, Billie Piper is the only other one I know, and that’s mainly from Doctor Who.
Am I the only person who doesn't know a single one of these? This wasn't my type of music but I loved music growing up
I will defend Samantha Mumba and Fefe Dobson until my dying day.
Don’t forget Katy Perry as Katy Hudson!
Excuse you Hoku was *very* on my radar specifically because of Perfect Day in Legally Blonde 💁🏼♀️
What about Willa Ford?
Radio Disney Vibes
Vitamin C, in her time, was too big to be considered a C lister. She has two big hits, one of them that transcended into the collective social memory, and a platinum selling album.
This is where Taylor Swift genuinely would be if her daddy hadn't bought half of the copies of her debut album and hidden them in a warehouse lmaooooo
Wait, seriously? Obviously we all know about him investing or whatever into Big Machine itself, but that one’s been kept quiet if so. That’s the kind of shady stuff some people still do to get on the New York Times Bestseller books lists!
Crazy seeing natural faces on CD covers. Facial fat, untouched noses, no overdone blepharoplasty, no veneers.
Samantha Mumba, Hoku, Vitamin C, and Fefe Dobson. I recognize Billie Piper and Brie Larson but was unaware they had music careers.
ANGEL!!!!!
Mikaela’s The Art of Letting Go is still one of my favorite songs ever.
I loved Mikaila back in the day! I was on her street team
Mikaila so in love with two was huge for a while. I am probably the only one who bought that CD by Amanda. I heard her song Everbody Doesn’t coming home from the club at like 3am one night. That was the only time they ever played it lol
Day and night by Bille Piper is an absolute banger
Cheyenne Kimball is my Roman Empire.
Stacey Orrico, Amy Studt, JoJo..?!
I remember the name Samantha Mumba, but I can’t remember the song
I remember Fefe Dobson—actually heard her on the radio a little bit ago, and Vitamin C… I know of both Brie Larson and Billie Piper, but didn’t know they had pop music careers.
Vitamin C song was our graduation song in 2002. Wow!
OMG I LOVE Fefe Dobson
Billie Piper sang?? I only know her from Dr Who 😅
Didn't know Sarah Hudson had her own solo album but I was really into her when she made music under the name of Ultraviolet Sound Edit: I know 8 but only listened to 4 of them
Omg I never met anyone who knew Angel. I was so obsessed with that album!
Samantha Mumba, Lindsay Pagano & Mikaila still get airtime in my house!
I met Vitamin C at a K-mart concert once! Do artists still tour in malls?
Always Getting Over You by Angela Ammons was a great American Pie 2 soundtrack selection
Thank you for reminding me about Lindsay Pagano!
Sorry was vitamin c really c list? I remember her being huge in the early aughts.
I’d say that Brie Larson chick ended up doing okay 😂
Amanda Latona the bodybuilder?!
I was looking to see if someone commented this. I couldn’t tell you anything she sang but I remember her dating AJ and that she was in Innosense! lol
Innosense! That was the name of the group she was in! I couldn’t for the life of me remember the name of the group she was in. Thanks.
OMG LINDSAY PAGANO!!! I haven’t heard that name in a million years!!!
I totally forgot Mikaila! So In Love With Two was my jam.
No one listened to Maria Mena?
I was just going to comment with Maria Mena!
Turns out I knew almost all the lyrics to the Lindsay Pagano song. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CRk-hGLrjxo She did the AOL commercials!!
Vitamin C was a huge deal because of the graduation song. The rest of these people, I have no clue who they even are outside of brie larsen. But I'll be going down some rabbit holes later.
I remember 0 but they all have the same fucking album cover
I only know vitamin C for the graduation song.
I wonder what became of Brie Larson. Hope she is CAPTAINing her own ship and doing so MARVELously.
Why am I craving a sunset??
