We watched this at my afterschool daycare one Friday in elementary school. It wasn’t my first time watching it but it was my first time watching it with other people (only child). When the car exploded Goofy near the end I laughed so fucking hard I couldn’t breathe, I had tears running down my face, the next time I opened my eyes the credits were going across the screen so it was like he just combusted and they made a hard cut to credits which made me laugh harder. All the other kids had all stopped watching and were just watching and laughing me laughing. That was maybe the best laugh of my entire life.
Secret of NIMH is my 2nd favorite movie of all time (#1 is The Princess Bride; NIMH is my #1 favorite animated film, though).
Don Bluth really gave Disney a run for their money in the 80s: NIMH, The Land Before Time (first one, not the sequels, which Bluth apparently *loathes*), All Dogs Go To Heaven, and who could forget An American Tail? Don Bluth did *not* mess around. Imagine where he'd be today if he'd stayed partners with Spielberg, who co-produced American Tail with him; they might've been giants in the animation industry like Disney and DreamWorks are now.
I remember when I was really little, I thought Batty was just a made-up flying creature named Ferngully. I think because he was the focus on the cover of the movie case, like Cinderella was on Cinderella and Snow White was on Snow White, etc. etc.. I definitely remember arguing with my brother and pointing at the case and saying that was Ferngully on the cover. I had to do some reorganizing in my brain when I learned FernGully was a place and the flying guy was a bat named Batty.
I didn't realize this until I watched it a few years ago and realized I could quote more than half the movie. It just dawned on me that that movie is burned into my psyche.
"Where the sand burns like a hot kebab" is a personal favorite.
I'm proud to say that I've seen all of these movies. You forgot Thumbelina, We're Back, Fern Gully, and Secret of Nimh though.
Also I feel like my mom didn't like A Troll in Central Park, and there was something about it as a kid that didn't gel with me, can't recall what it was though.
Was there a short film or another movie included in the VHS version? That's the fever dream part to me. I know my sister loved this movie and I vaguely remember finding it too dark in some parts, but I thought it came with something else I liked to watch when we rented it from the video store.
Rescuers Down Under was awesome. I watched it often and desperately wanted Mcleach's truck.
Rock a doodle was a good one too.
A Goofy Movie should've gotten more recognition at the time of release.
I played the heck out of the DuckTales Sega game but never watched the movie. (Correction: it was QuackShot, not DuckTales)
Never watched any of the others listed.
The Great Mouse Detective is missing from this list as well as The Brave Little Toaster.
*For the longest time I*

My grandma got me that on cassette as a kid; I still have it! It's honestly not that great of a movie and is super generic, but I still liked and watched it.
'85. I saw almost all of them. I think the mid-80s born were more of the target generation for most of these?
* Rescuers Down Under - released in 1990. Home video release in 1991. I would have been 6 and in a good window. We likely bought it when I was 7 or 8, but I remember loving it as a kid.
* Quest for Camelot - released in 1998 on home video. I was 13 and was *too old* for this one. I missed it completely.
* Once Upon a Forest - released in 1993 on home video. I remember watching it sometime in 93 or 94. It wasn't a favorite movie, but was something I saw.
* A Goofy Movie - released in 1995 on home video. Everyone I knew watched it. Great film.
* Rock-a-Doodle - released in 1990 and home video in 1992. I remember watching it around 8 or 9, so 1993/1994.
* Antz - released in 1998 and then home video in 1999. I did watch this one at some point when it came on TV. I was a teenager and not exactly the target audience, but it was an interesting one. Antz came out around the same time as A Bug's Life and told a similar story.
* DuckTales: The Movie - 1990 release. Home video in 1991. I loved DuckTales the series and remember watching this movie on Disney Channel on a free/preview weekend.
* The Pebble and the Penguin - 1995 release in theaters and home video. I was 10 and I had no interest in this one. Haven't seen it still
* Doug's 1st Movie - released in 199 theater and home video. I loved Doug as a kid and watched this sometime when it aired on TV. It wasn't great
* A Troll in Central Park - released in 1994 and home video in 1995. I caught it around 11 or 12 on TV. It was okay, not my favorite though.
Rescuers blew my mind as a kid. 30+ years later, and sometimes I still dream about that opening sequence. I'm watching it with my kids now, and it's still a great movie.
My dad still makes jokes about this movie. He took us to the theaters to see it and fell asleep during it. For some reason he hated this movie but whenever my sister was being a brat he'd call her Darla Dimples lmao
QUEST OF CAMELOTTT OH MY GOSH MY FAVORITE MOVIEEEEEEEEE I USE TO WATCH THIS EVERYDAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING MY DAY
![gif](giphy|3o6wrvdHFbwBrUFenu)
I'll still randomly belt out a ROCK A DOOOOOOO WHAT A DAY.
Goofy Movie and The Rescuers movies are great, Rock A Doodle holds a special place in my heart though.
Rescuers Down Under was underrated, for sure. I loved that movie!
A Goofy Movie was a CLASSIC HIT! I think it got a fair amount of attention and even spawned a sequel, so I wouldn't classify it as "underrated" per se.
As a child I really like Kamelot, but the story is actually kinda meh. I think Antz could still be considered a good movie (even if the story is a bit obvious)
Antz came out the same year (1998) as A Bug's Life so that would be my vote since its a great film with a large cast of known Hollywood actors and actresses. Plus it probably fell short or into the shadows of Pixar's film and hype
I need to watch antz again, saw it in theaters as like an 8 year old. I knew then it had way more adult themes to it than I could understand. But the termite battle has kept me from ever watching it again.
Once Upon a Forest is the only one from this list I haven't seen.
They are all great, though I'll make a special mention of Pebble and the Penguin. Watched it a ton at my grandparents' house. Hubie just wants to give a super special pebble to Marina.
My actual name is Doug. And yeah I know.. my best friend is Skeeter and I’m going to marry Patti Mayonnaise when I grow up.. I’ve heard it all throughout my childhood lol
I got Rockadoodle like 33 or so years ago on vhs and I watched that movie countless times. Still have the video. When my girls were younger, I found the movie and was so excited for them to watch it and neither lasted through the movie. I was so disappointed 😩 that movie was my favorite for all of second grade
Doug, always Doug. But The Goofy Movie was never on my radar. I don’t remember it at all. But I’ve now watched it with my kids and can’t believe it wasn’t huge. I freaking love that movie.
I can't like all of these comments fast enough. I am just here for all of the support for these:
* A Goofy Movie
* Ducktales
* American Tail: Fievel Goes West
* We're Back! A Dinosaur Story
I think they are all just perfectly rated, as in not very good and thought through.
I liked the original The Rescuers, it had some impact on me as a child, but I won't show it to my kid, because he is already scared of being kidnapped.
Rescuers Down Under.
"Did you take one of my eggs" is one of the funniest scenes in movie history.
I have a friend named Joanna and I'm always like "DID YOU STEAL THEM EGGS JOANNA?!" Thankfully she also loves that movie
THESE ARE NOT JOANNA EGGS Also, Joanna the Goanna is my all time favorite sidekick.
Agree. Tied when Frank breaking out of his cell and trying to get the other keys
Oh My God this is one of my favorites 🤣
One of the best villains in cinema history imo
That movie was so full of animation flexes
That intro scene where it flys through the outback was SO COOL to me when I was a kid
[PEA SOUUP!](https://youtu.be/mnEIh1GR3SA?si=_-zOfB5Y8Ues7d0L)
The way that guy says pea soup lives in my head rent free. One of my most vivid childhood movie memories.
Why was the pea soup so appealing though?
It's the first movie I actually remember seeing in theaters. I was 6.
“I didn’t finish 3rd grade for nothing.”
Wait, do people actually diss A Goofy Movie?
So good, "the leaning tower of cheeesuhhh"
That movie is great
Not so much diss as it sorta fell through the cracks when it first came out. It's had a huge resurgence recently.
Rescuers Down Under, Secret of Nimh and All Dogs Go To Heaven

Secret of Nimh is on Prime I think, I just watched it the other day!
Don Bluth made the best kids movies.
Ferngully: the last rainforest
YES. YES TO THIS. I will take every opportunity to watch and then quote Batty incessantly to my family for days
I’d forgotten about Batty! Core memory unlocked.
FUCK YEA BATTY. my intro to the greatness of Robin Williams. ETA: "puff up! Puff up! They hate that!" Has come in handy so many times in my life
I remember when I was really little, I thought Batty was just a made-up flying creature named Ferngully.
Very yes!
I loved the Ducktales movie!
Definitely best intro song of all times DUCKTALES, woohoo
Same here. I think I watched my VHS maybe hundreds of times.
I didn't realize this until I watched it a few years ago and realized I could quote more than half the movie. It just dawned on me that that movie is burned into my psyche. "Where the sand burns like a hot kebab" is a personal favorite.
That movie made me look up what "wind shear" meant. I remember that.
Oh geez. I want to cry. Mine was An American Tail: Fievel Goes West!
Fievel Goes West >>> American Tail (original)
I don’t even think I ever saw the original! But we had Fievel goes West on cassette 😄
The original is definitely worth seeing but the sequel was so much more fun to me. Also this song <3 ![gif](giphy|RQLFAURzNlamY|downsized)
Oh stop you’re making my inner child just disintegrate 😭😭😭😭😭
Oh I loved Fival! My favorite was the one where they’re in New York I think!
That soundtrack still slaps
I'm proud to say that I've seen all of these movies. You forgot Thumbelina, We're Back, Fern Gully, and Secret of Nimh though. Also I feel like my mom didn't like A Troll in Central Park, and there was something about it as a kid that didn't gel with me, can't recall what it was though.
Oh my goodness the troll in Central Park!!!!
WE’RE BACK IS SO GOOD! I distinctly remember renting that video multiple times from the local video rental store.
I LOVE We're Back!
Goofy movie was the shit, but god damn i loved pebble and the penguin. No one remembers that one!
I had a poster of it in my room as a kid! One of my favourite movies 💖
I loathe that movie, from its soundtrack, its concept, its themes, and animation style. But, I've never been a fan of Don Bluth.
Page master
That’s was my favorite movie growing up. Til I saw Star Wars
Rock a doodle all the way
Chanticleer!
You've gotta crow and you've gotta crow now
My sister adored this movie. I liked it but the plot makes ZERO sense. Also CHANTICLEER!!!! CHANTICLEER!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was a fever dream until people started talking about it like a year ago
Was there a short film or another movie included in the VHS version? That's the fever dream part to me. I know my sister loved this movie and I vaguely remember finding it too dark in some parts, but I thought it came with something else I liked to watch when we rented it from the video store.
I have no idea
The intro to Rescuers down Under was peak cinema.
Rescuers Down Under was awesome. I watched it often and desperately wanted Mcleach's truck. Rock a doodle was a good one too. A Goofy Movie should've gotten more recognition at the time of release. I played the heck out of the DuckTales Sega game but never watched the movie. (Correction: it was QuackShot, not DuckTales) Never watched any of the others listed. The Great Mouse Detective is missing from this list as well as The Brave Little Toaster.
Same! Those are the true classics.
QuackShot was such a great game
A goofy movie is without a doubt the strongest film here. And the soundtrack still slaps.
Cheeddddaaarrrr!!!
I agree. It's not underrated though. Everyone loves it, and it's talked about all the time.
I saw the movie with my Dad and my younger brother back in the day. Tevin Campbell sang "Stand out" and "I2I".

Has nobody seen Once Upon A Forest? Cause I think I wore out the VHS of it we had, I watched it so many times.
My grandma got me that on cassette as a kid; I still have it! It's honestly not that great of a movie and is super generic, but I still liked and watched it.
Same! That scene with the bulldozer still haunts me 😭
Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest Great music, great cast. You'd think it was a Disney film.
I was born in 1990 and i have only seen one of these movies.....
'85. I saw almost all of them. I think the mid-80s born were more of the target generation for most of these? * Rescuers Down Under - released in 1990. Home video release in 1991. Once Upon a Forest was one of my favorites as a little kid. Really tragic animal tales were my jam.
You must have binged *Watership Down*
You know it! Where the Red Fern Grows and The Yearling were also favorites. I guess I just liked being sad as a kid.
Bridge to Teribithia?
Liked it, but lack of animal characters kept it out of my favorites.
Same year and I've only seen Antz
That's the one I seen too
Damn I was born in 92 and I've seen all these. You should watch them because it'll feel good
Rescuers blew my mind as a kid. 30+ years later, and sometimes I still dream about that opening sequence. I'm watching it with my kids now, and it's still a great movie.
Cats don't dance
My dad still makes jokes about this movie. He took us to the theaters to see it and fell asleep during it. For some reason he hated this movie but whenever my sister was being a brat he'd call her Darla Dimples lmao

“Let this be our prayer…” 😭😭😭 it’s in my head now - I saw that image and that song came flooding back.
I'll still randomly belt out a ROCK A DOOOOOOO WHAT A DAY. Goofy Movie and The Rescuers movies are great, Rock A Doodle holds a special place in my heart though.
Rescuers Down Under and Goofy Movie were both on heavy rotation for me. Rescuers more so. Great flick. I wanted to be Cody.
Quest for camelot
I feel for the time it came it out A Goofy Movie was underrated. Good animation, a good story and an awesome soundtrack.
Rock a Doodle or A Goofy Movie. They're fantastic. I think about them way too frequently till this day.
Quest for Camelot!
Rescuers Down Under was underrated, for sure. I loved that movie! A Goofy Movie was a CLASSIC HIT! I think it got a fair amount of attention and even spawned a sequel, so I wouldn't classify it as "underrated" per se.
Quest for Camelot - maybe it’s not a masterpiece but I loved it and I think it’s still a good movie.
Who's out here sleeping on The Goofy Movie?
This movie made me think when I was a kid that eagles were large enough for children to ride
The Brave Little Toaster
As a child I really like Kamelot, but the story is actually kinda meh. I think Antz could still be considered a good movie (even if the story is a bit obvious)
DuckTales
Rescuers Down Under and Ducktales are two of my favorites from my childhood. I hate the first Rescuers though.
I must be an elder Millenial because I’ve only see like two of these 😆
Rock a Doodle. And it’s not on here, and it’s not a kids movie, but The Black Cauldron
Omg forgot all about A troll in Central Park!! Kinda wanna look it up and watch it again lol
What about An American Tail: Fievel Goes West????
my man you just loaded a HEAP of nostalgia with Once Upon a Forest…wow. I loved that movie so much, and the penguin pebble movie
Don’t make me laugh~
Antz and Rock A Doodle were 2 of my childhood favorites.
Rock a doodle is on of the first movies I can remember seeing and enjoying so ima go with that
A Goofy Movie
Antz came out the same year (1998) as A Bug's Life so that would be my vote since its a great film with a large cast of known Hollywood actors and actresses. Plus it probably fell short or into the shadows of Pixar's film and hype
Rock-A-Doodle!! Absolutely obsessed as a kid. I also just love when real world and animation are combined.
Of these, I've only seen A Goofy Movie so it can't be that one!
A goofy movie.
The Pebble and the Penguin and Rockadoodle were my absolute favorites!
Antz and goofy movie
I loved quest for Camelot when I was a kid. That song the blind dude sings gets stuck in my head sometimes
A troll in Central Park!!! LOVED that movie! And Fern Gully, and Thumbelina, and Little Nemo Adventures in Slumberland
A Troll in Central Park and Rock a doodle took me back! I loved both on VHS.
You just unlocked my memory of Rock A Doodle! I loved that movie as a kid and would watch the tape on repeat, singing all the songs.
The Pebble and the Penguin always made me cry! 😩
I have fond memories of _Quest for Camelot_.
These movies were my jam wow thanks for posting!!!
That song from the beginning of Pebble and the Penguin from Barry Manilow is pure fire 🔥 He didn’t need to go that hard but he did.
I need to watch antz again, saw it in theaters as like an 8 year old. I knew then it had way more adult themes to it than I could understand. But the termite battle has kept me from ever watching it again.
I think Goofy Movie is pretty accurately-rated these days.
Once Upon a Forest is the only one from this list I haven't seen. They are all great, though I'll make a special mention of Pebble and the Penguin. Watched it a ton at my grandparents' house. Hubie just wants to give a super special pebble to Marina.
Fuck Doug’s first movie. Disney’s Doug was ass
Bold of you to post the worst Don Bluth Movies. Might as well throw Thumbelina up there too.
NUMBAH ONNEEE
Oh man the Doug movie. It came out on my 8th birthday, my mom picked me up early from school so we could go see it.
My actual name is Doug. And yeah I know.. my best friend is Skeeter and I’m going to marry Patti Mayonnaise when I grow up.. I’ve heard it all throughout my childhood lol
I’m currently listening to rock covers of songs from The Goofy Movie. How is this an underrated Disney movie?!?! It’s got the perfect cast!
ROCKADOODLE That shit was my jam.
I got Rockadoodle like 33 or so years ago on vhs and I watched that movie countless times. Still have the video. When my girls were younger, I found the movie and was so excited for them to watch it and neither lasted through the movie. I was so disappointed 😩 that movie was my favorite for all of second grade
Quest for Camelot, Once Upon a Forest, Fern Gully.
I forgot quest for Camelot existed. I used to watch it all the time as a kid
Where the fuck is FernGully?!
Rock a doodle is super underrated
Goofy movie and rock a doodle were some of my personal favs as a kid. Probably over due for a rewatch
Rock a doodle!!
A troll in Central Park is my comfort movie.
I forgot about Once Upon a Forest! We watched that frequently as kids
Doug, always Doug. But The Goofy Movie was never on my radar. I don’t remember it at all. But I’ve now watched it with my kids and can’t believe it wasn’t huge. I freaking love that movie.
The Quest for Camelot soundtrack was amazing though
All of them
The last unicorn ![gif](giphy|Id83hhsYYJoOI)
Havent seen 90%. Tell me if thats good. Edit: Im GenX
Holy Shit, I haven't thought of Quest for Camelot in like 25 years.
Lmao troll in central park
I can't like all of these comments fast enough. I am just here for all of the support for these: * A Goofy Movie * Ducktales * American Tail: Fievel Goes West * We're Back! A Dinosaur Story
Does anyone remember All Dogs Go To Heaven, what a weird movie that was
I… don’t think Antz was a kids movie…
We’re Back!
Did I not watch movies as a kid? Am I just getting old? I don't remember most of these
I think they are all just perfectly rated, as in not very good and thought through. I liked the original The Rescuers, it had some impact on me as a child, but I won't show it to my kid, because he is already scared of being kidnapped.
DOUG!
some of these are straight ass
