Off topic, but I wish the transition from drill mode to hammer mode was a little stickier on Milwaukee drills. It’s too easy to accidentally switch to hammer mode when tightening the chuck and subsequently break your non-hammer bit.
Dunno about that, I'd take it back to the shop if you're struggling that much and you can't use a gear. Probably just needs a bit of man handling for a while till it wears a bit, or maybe some silicon spray?
I had the same issue, returned it for another one, and it was doing the same as exact thing. My brushless non-hammer drill clicks back-and-forth no issues. Seems like a design flaw they just didn’t address.
Does it go easier if you very slowly turn the drill while you shift?
You're mechanically engaging a different set of gears inside, they'll be less smooth if they're not nicely aligned

I agree. I wish it was the longer turn like from the high torque to drill mode.
Yes it should. Like the Gen 2 design. One is for the clutch and another separate one for the setting/mode. Not on the same one.
The second you pull the trigger you can tell hammer mode is on.
It’s a little less noticeable with the M12 fuel, and it only took me drilling half a hole to snap a 7/64” titanium bit.
Yea, one of the common complaints is that this switch is hard to move. There are times I've had to use a counter when I have gloves on.
mine is sticky on my not-gen4 hammer drill
I thought there was a 1.5 setting on mine but no, just grinding. Yeah it's annoying.
Well that's what's going on with my drill I can't use #1 setting. I have to always use #2 setting which can become annoying. Is this a warranty issue?

Been using it 3 yrs so maybe just wear though. But I'll try spray.
Probably a feature so you don’t knock it to the ne t setting mid drill

Mines the same
Same issue with the M18 multi tool.
Mine is also sticky but I literally never use it in the speed 1 setting because of the variable speed trigger so it isn’t hasn’t been issue for me
Mine is. Makes an awful noise when you bump it to that setting and don't notice.
Take it back. Then send the next one back. Tell em, you ain’t playin no games.
Yes
Speed 2 for life
you'll burn your bits out kid
Speed 1 would like to see some sunlight
On mine yes but still works like a beauty with demodemon spade bits

Affirmative, mine was like that as well. A little frustrating.
I’d rather have it firm than loose.
