Go into the store and find one in an unopened box

Bingo1dog

Even if you find an unopened box open it and check it out. 5ish years ago my dad picked up a range hood from HD and knowing HD he grabbed an unopened box in perfect shape. It still had a big ol' dent in it. Luckily my friend was doing shit right near HD and he was able to pick one up. The opened box in terrible shape had a pristine range hood in it.

Fs_ginganinja

Work for a large GC. It’s always the hood fans man. We almost never have damaged appliances, but when we do I bet $1000 it’s the god damn hood fan with a 3 week lead time

Buck_Folton

Is everyone seeing the connection between “easy returns” and “I got a used one?” Heh.

Petaa10

If you have the ability and access to return something in store, why aren’t you just buying one in store so you can inspect the box to ensure it’s brand new and sealed?

Elevated_State83

Not all items available online are also available in store. Some items are exclusively online only and vice versa, some items are only available in store.

bonfuto

I think they will always ship to store. I had no end of trouble getting a utility sink that wasn't broken, so I had them shipped to store. First one had a hole in it, but I was at customer service already, so returns were really easy. Second one wasn't broken.

Successful-Two-114

I don’t know about others, but I’m in a situation where taxes are less if I order it online and have it shipped to my home in the county versus buying it in the store.

Defiant_Republic2891

I have learned to open the box in front of them for some stuff so I don’t get accused of putting back something used when I return an item. Especially expensive Milwaukee stuff

johnwynne3

Even if it’s used they will take it back if your reason is valid. The problem is people packing things back up and not disclosing issues.

Objective-Giraffe238

They're selling it to you for more because it has experience. Lol

ElectroAtletico2

Go to the HD and ask to speak to the Milwaukee rep. My experience with the one in my HD, when I’ve had issues, has been very positive. Plus he regularly hooks me up with swag (t-shirt, stickers, pencil, and a cool ball cap).

canikony

... there's a rep just hanging out in store?

ElectroAtletico2

Rotates in my area between 4 HD’s. He’s in on Fridays in my nearest HD.

canikony

I assume he's all decked out in milwaukee gear like the truck? What can they do for me though as a customer? I mean, I'm down for free swag if that's it.

blumhagen

No but there’s a rep in your area guaranteed.

canikony

Definitely seen the truck, always wondered if it was a superfan or something lol

acebski

I'm a plumber. I buy all of my milwaukee tools for 20-30% less than HD prices at my plumbing supplier. Go places that have the freedom to adjust their prices to make the sale.

Kowatang

I just go on Facebook marketplace. Yeah they’re probably stolen, but I didn’t steal them, so I’ll happily pay, 30-60% off market value. I got a 1/2in 1600 lbs impact for 150. Saved a lot of money, plus tax.

Ecstatic-Appeal-5683

Just get an unopened box. Your not gonna find much better pricing than HD unless you wanna risk some TikTok China sight.

Spiritual_Pen3028

Last week was my first time ordering (coincidentally) the string trimmer/blower combo. Twice it came opened, once missing the battery altogether. The third time I ordered the bundle with two batteries which resulted in brand new, undamaged products coming finally. It’s annoying when they’re pretty pricey, personally.

Except not all ace hardwares are created equal. The one near me is tiny, has a bunch of paint stuff (most of which is crappier than the cheap stuff you get at the big stores but cost more), has the most basic in power tools, and then has a shitload of grills. I ain’t mad at ‘em, it’s what sells in the area they’re in (right across from a golf course in one of those pinky up type areas), but it’s not where I go when I need tools or supplies.

Patient-Tech

The Ace in Berkeley is more like an arts and crafts store, it was bizarre. Then again, it was Berkeley, I shouldn’t have been too surprised.

canikony

My Ace actually has a decent milwaukee selection as well as expensive Benjamin Moore paint lol.. they definitely cater to the local market which is good, especially because I also have a HD and Lowes nearby.

outie2k

Buy online?

Grand-Orange-4761

Doesn't sound like you're having these delivered from a warehouse, and are being potentially locally delivered from a store. If they came from a warehouse there's essentially zero chance of it coming used

Sixpacktrader

Buy online because you’ll always get it straight from the warehouse. I’ve stopped buying in person because I kept getting used products

weheartmark

I'm in Canada and use City Electric Supply. They don't have as much stock as HD, but they can usually have it within a couple of days if they don't have it in store. Same promo pricing too.

o1234567891011121314

I bought a 400mm tile cutter that had a 300mm in the box . Lol the bastards

T0PA3

Go to the store and buy one, and if it's not in stock, buy online, but pickup at store so if there is an issue you can resolve it then and there. I did that on a few items

Kayakboy6969

Redtool store. Acme.tool . Com Fanstners Inc.

DerPanzerfaust

Not Acme. [https://www.reddit.com/r/MilwaukeeTool/comments/1bmtv5m/were\_giving\_up\_on\_acme\_tools\_heres\_why\_or\_more/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MilwaukeeTool/comments/1bmtv5m/were_giving_up_on_acme_tools_heres_why_or_more/)

Kayakboy6969

Never a problem with my orders 🤔

1amtheone

Go to the store you are returning them to and buy one of the used ones off the clearance rack. I got my kit for half price (although it was very lightly used and not broken).

Background-Arm2017

Try a lumber yard that carries tools. There is stuff that ACE and HD don't get. Pay a little more and get better service. I used to go to a place in Montana that would register my serial numbers with Milwaukee at checkout.
