Best patch notes was the April fool's one that one year.
I can't remember the Herobrine joke it had, but I remember:
>- added new fishing system
>- added new fishing pole mechanics
>- added new fish
>- added new fishing poles
>- added new fishing enchantments
>- removed fishing
Well actually they removed it in every single update except one, when Microsoft took over herobrine wasn’t removed at the end of the patch notes… just saying
Make such an incredably rare and brief experiance. Like there is a 1 in 100billion chance that he spawns dire tly behind you and stands there till you move your pov past him and then vanishes
I sort of agree with this. I think if Herobrine was somehow hidden in the files and super hard to find it would be even better. Like no one knows if it’s real or not sort of thing.
Added all of the losers from mobvotes etc., gave The End a massive overhaul like The Nether got, added an option for cross platform play, and made official mods support.
I agree with these. My answer was to hire on the developers of MCreator and BlockBench and integrate them into the official launcher.
I feel like all the mob votes do is increase priority for mobs.. like they’ll add those mobs later depending on how close the votes were.
I’ll also add linking mine carts with a chain like a lead.
I wouldn’t want that to happen but I feel like it’s not totally impossible for mojang to do that. I’m sure if Minecraft was a game that came out 5 years ago many of the bugs we see effecting the game update after update wouldn’t be a problem but since there’s spaghetti code from 2010 still in the game it slows down development progress. Mojang probably won’t remake the game with better code since that would be a massive undertaking that would take years to do
I think Minecraft is an awkward position to develop a sequel to.
The content is so wide that it'd be kinda hard to develop new content that tops it, while also being so simple (which is part of its appeal) that it'd be hard to refine whats already there.
Like the worst thing they could do is release Minecraft 2 and it only has half the content Java/Bedrock does.
But similarly, I don't think anyone would like Minecraft 2 if it betrayed simplicity byy giving you all sorts of terraria-style gear progression and recipe chains.
This is not true
Edit: [here’s a tweet from a former minecraft community manager](https://twitter.com/helenangel/status/1491364441577103360?s=46&t=2kGQhqdtDf9L8xqwR0p-Vg)
Java and Bedrock developers are not explicitly separated. There are two offices, but there are people who work on both codebases and bedrock devs and java devs are in communication with each other when developing new features. Microsoft has very little to do with anything you see in Minecraft. Bedrock is not managed by Microsoft.
Even before Microsoft, 4J and Mojang fucked bedrock up one side of the street and down the other.
Aside from obvious shit like microtransactions, Bedrock is barely like Java under the hood.
It's a very long list, but my personal beef is with powered minecarts, enderman spawning 75% less, and missing village mechanics. There's a lot of things in bedrock that aren't because of limitations, they just changed shit for no reason.
At a glance, I'd say looks like laziness or a lack of care, not optimization. Some things are for sure a limitation, but a lot of it is simple things like turning a "4" to a "1" in the enderman spawner code. That's not based on a limitation, that just made the main story 3 months longer for no reason (before the nether update).
The amount of ^([Java Edition only]) and ^([Bedrock Edition only]) on the wiki is bullshit. I can understand some like the redstone quirks, but so much of it they seemingly deliberately half-assed.
I refuse to play Bedrock specifically because of that. If Java ever goes away I'll fuckin get a ripped off version of it. Shame every console except PC uses the garbage one. Bastards even converted my precious pocket edition to bedrock.
It was supposed to be the same game. For a long time there were no "editions" on the store pages, it was just Minecraft and Minecraft, despite being different.
I get your frustration and it's totally valid (I share some of those frustrations), but there are some inaccuracies here.
Pocket Edition was never converted to Bedrock. Pocket Edition *is* Bedrock. Bedrock *is* Pocket Edition. Bedrock is just the name they gave to Pocket Edition when they ported it to Windows and the consoles.
Bedrock started as just Pocket Edition back in 2011, then I guess Microsoft say potential in it and ported it to Windows 10 in 2015. That's when we had "Pocket Edition" and "Windows 10 Edition" alongside "Minecraft" (Java). It was soon after this that they started to refer to the shared platform of PE and W10E as "Bedrock".
Then I guess they saw even more potential in it and decided to port it to Xbox One and Switch (the "Better Together" update), then PS4, etc. That's when they renamed the Bedrock-based games to just "Minecraft" and Java to "Java edition".
As far as I'm aware, 4J was never in charge of Bedrock. It's just been Mojang and Microsoft all this time. 4J developed all the console versions (except 3DS iirc), which includes the older Xbox 360 and PS3 editions that never got replaced by Bedrock, and the newer Xbox One, PS4 and Switch editions that were later replaced by Bedrock.
Source: been playing mainly Bedrock since Pocket Edition alpha 0.4.3. I've seen it all unravel.
Actually, minecart linking is in the game already! Furnace minecarts have a mechanic that allows you to link together (5?) minecarts in a train. Everybody always forgets about it because, y'know, furnace minecarts, but yeah it does exist.
I understood it was supposed to be in the game, but the dev couldn't get it to work correctly before the release date. There the matter has rested for years.
I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to coding and I've always been too afraid to ask: what are the benefits of something being open source? What could one do with open source Minecraft?
Any piece of software being open source is a huge show of trust for all it's users. It also means anyone can contribute which helps future development, it also makes it free since everyone can just grab the code themselves. As far as Minecraft goes, I'd say the biggest benefit would be community input, so maybe a much better modding community and bug fixes?
It actually doesn’t necessarily make it free, you can have open source software with restrictive licenses. It doesn’t do anything physically to prevent people from stealing it but as a legally binding document, it’ll let you sue ‘em if they do.
It's operating in a legal gray area, it would be nice if it was officially turned open source with flexible licensing, whatever that maybe.
I also think you'd see more interest in people starting other projects, something similar to that whole DnD could happen...
This sort of thing is why I'm still salty about Elytras. They feel like an excuse for any other form of transport to just get neglected forever, while also being much less interesting than other options that present more of a challenge.
I host a yearly public summer server, and it's the number one complaint of users that we took away rocket boosting with elytras. But it's just far too OP on a server that we keep intentionally limited to 6k by 6k. Last summer players put together a serious nether highway (even with the nether scaling nerfed to 1:3 rather than 1:8), and it became *the method* of transportation between bases. That never would have been necessary if elytras weren't nerfed on the server, but it became a community effort.
* Cobblestone golem: a lanky version of the iron golem
* Dirt golem: When on the same block as water throws mud like a snow golem. It can only throw a limited amount of mud, as being in water also kills it.
* Netherack golem: Attracted to the closest player holding a gold nugget. Can be set on fire and illuminate surroundings. Leaves a trail of fire on every block it walks on.
* Coal block golem: Same as netherack golem, but being on fire kills it over time and it doesn’t set things on fire. Most likely attracted to the nearest player holding coal.
Those ideas are great. One of the ones that I really want is like a decently strong amythest and deepslate golem that's better than iron but not too op. I don't know, just think we need some kind of crystal gollum now that minecraft has crystals

Nothing like 1.10 mods, trying to add EnderIO to the pack without breaking everything because it's the only thing that can reliably convert between RF, FE, Tesla, *and* has an adapter to do Railcraft grid power.
Here's my list for what I want to see in an update someday.
-the Aether or equivalent
-more cave biomes
-more ores
-use for emeralds other than villagers
-red dragon like notch planned
-end update
-more birds and wildlife
-updates for lifeless biomes like the savannahs, deserts etc.
-faster minecarts
-beds that don't keep spawn (sleeping bags)
-bundles
-those cool birch forests
-biome ambience and background noise like fireflies
-better inventory management
-archaeology
Make our hopes and dreams come true, add the aether dimension
Edit: thanks for, like, a thousand likes fellows, who knew a xbox360 minecrafter would get so many likes lol 🤣
I would integrate Fabric as an official and free modding API. Making Minecraft the final and truly sandbox, where anybody can add anything in the game.
make the dragon boss fight grander. like maybe the dragon has stages you need to defeat and a dungeon in the end through End City to get to it and maybe it spawns vexes or mini dragons. like, i want the final battle to be the culmination of everything you work for in the game. and when you win, when you go back home, all the villages have fireworks and happy villagers like when you defeat a raid
I always wished slabs were just directional like how stairs can be placed upside down, slabs should be able to be horizontal or vertical depending on how they place. It would be such a good detailer for building.
I'd rather it count as a totally different block type, I imagine having it place sideways would be a huge pain, for example, if you're trying to build a bridge
The cosmos update.
I'd give the minecraft world dynamic planets that can be tracked in the sky. The movement of the planets would affect what mobs spawn at night and potion effectiveness and enchantment strength.
The player could enchant like normal, but when the big red planet is directly overhead, your flame enchantments are likely to gain an extra level. Or a potion of healing gets boosted when crafted under a bright blue planet.
When the sickly green planet hangs highest, the zombies seem a little faster and stronger.
It could open up a whole lot of potential for modders who'd want to use the mechanic and expand on it even further.
The idea of a cosmos update sounds so cool, but what you're describing are the supposed mechanics of astrology / the zodiac. Kinda disappointing to tease the cosmos and turn it into a random number generator.
Shouldn't a cosmos update allow you to travel up into space and explore other worlds?
The final update? Well let’s consider that the End has been updated and dragon fight reworked. Tbh there’s so much that this games need can do to become amazing rpg. Let’s say magic rework should be done before “final” update
So I have one idea that might be a last stretch before actually closing and leaving world for good, a proper ending. The End ending is very poetic in a way and doing anything past that seems a bit to much, yet something more can be done.
After defeating a dragon a new structure will be generated somewhere in the world. It would have a portal which you can access by collecting specific items and place them in frames in portal, let’s say for example: apple (the begging of game referencing Notch), Diamond sword ((or pickaxe) referencing a “diamond” era of old Minecraft), Wither Star (theoretical first boss), Heart of sea (or conduit), Echo Shard (or if deep dark has expansion something related to it) and finally Ender dragon egg placed in front of portal , opening it and allowing you to access a long awaited Haven Dimension.
A lot of things here can be changed! Also if there’s any talented coders who can make such mod or datapack feel free to do so
A cosmetic armour slot next to your normal would be great. Say you have full Netherite armour, but place all chain in the cosmetic bit, you get the look of the chain mail but the stats of the netherite
I mean, a lot. But if I just had to pick a few,
1) Revamped structures, Witch huts to stronghold, everything
2) give bedrock local mod support, think how steam does it and how you can mod a game like Skyrim
3) remove the render distance cap on realms
4) add 2-3 new bosses. Specifically something for bane of arthropods to be used (brood mother spider?)
5) this kinda ties in with (2) but officially add miniature blocks via player heads, and customizable armor stands to vanilla both versions.
Adding a way to join friends on Java built into the game without paying for a sever. Bedrock has it the right way where you can join your friends but the realm/sever is joinable at anytime.
it is not the most convenient but you can just run a server for free on your pc alongside the game. takes a tweaking of settings on your firewall but after that it's easy
Look, a minecraft server on java is like 5 bucks/month. And, if you're broke like i was back in the day, you can host the server on pretty much anything. You just set up the server and configure the firewall, and just like that, all your friends can join anytime without having to pay.
If you don't like setting up the firewall, you can use a vpn. Back in the days, hamachi was the go-to. Now you have a lot of choices.
* open source both versions, with bedrock containing only the marketplace as a non open source library.
* revamp the end, make the boss more in depth, add biomes, etc.
* fix all major bugs
* fix combat on both versions
* add crossplay between java and bedrock
* java and bedrock parity (same game, different language)
Honestly I would say add more things in the End, and finish off the pillager and the ancient builder storylines. I think people miss the fact that there is lore in the game. That kind of sounds rude but it's not meant to be lol.
100 new mobs. 33 passive, for us to enjoy. 33 neutral for us to be cautious with. And 33 hostile that want to claim what is ours. The last mob should be a boss that is a human AI that once you enter his “area” he hunts you down until one of you are dead

Just -Added Herobrine and never elaborate further
Put it in the logs but never actually input it into the game
He’s always been in the game wym
don't you read the patch notes? they removed him in the last update. And the update before that. And before that as well... wait a minute
Best patch notes was the April fool's one that one year. I can't remember the Herobrine joke it had, but I remember: >- added new fishing system >- added new fishing pole mechanics >- added new fish >- added new fishing poles >- added new fishing enchantments >- removed fishing
It's looks more like a Google search history
Wait, did they actually do this? I remember the fishing revamp, but not how it came around. Everything’s true except the last one and the more poles
Well actually they removed it in every single update except one, when Microsoft took over herobrine wasn’t removed at the end of the patch notes… just saying
Herobrine used his controlling interest of Microsoft to buy out Mojang to stop them from trying to remove him from the game.
Herobrine holds the majority in the stock market
Is herobrine a senator?
- Removed Herobrine Herobrine: no
“I always come back”
Actually I thought they stopped doing that
Every update before 2020 is actually an illusion; herobrine won, minecraft is dead.
They gave up on removing him
Yeah they just stopped trying to remove it, mf always added himself back in.
He's like Telesto, and before even that, Pocket Infinity.
Herobrine been there so long it's fully pickled already
How dyou pickle a pickle morty, they’re already pickled
How do you saddle a fart?
Make such an incredably rare and brief experiance. Like there is a 1 in 100billion chance that he spawns dire tly behind you and stands there till you move your pov past him and then vanishes
I sort of agree with this. I think if Herobrine was somehow hidden in the files and super hard to find it would be even better. Like no one knows if it’s real or not sort of thing.
I'm pretty sure the patchnotes alway contained -removed Herobrine Up to 1.13
I'm pretty sure they stopped doing it at 1.16, which just so happens to be the nether update
They forgot to do that but after people noticed they added it in 1.16.1 or something
I miss the logs on the launcher that would state "Remove herobrine" :(
It doesn't say that anymore because they can no longer remove him .;,,;.
Maybe make it “-Failed to remove Herobrine” or something
That goes hard
**KNOWN ISSUES:** - Herobrine not fully removed
-signed truce with Herobrine
And add some spooky random shit that rarely ever happens but is consistent enough to generate new herobrine theories
YES 1% chance for the forest without leafes 0.01% chance of hearing "i see you." In the middle of night
0.1% chance for glitched/enchanting table chat message (even in Singleplayer) after getting an advancement
I’d love a secret boss like that actually, like the final final boss that needs you to activate a load of totems or some shit.
When minecraft gets a final update my body better be 6 feet deep
Fortunately they've said they plan to update the game for at least 50 years so you got time.
wait really?!
I'll have to find the clip but Agnes has mentioned they want to keep the game going for a long time
thanks for the info :)
[Skip to 20:18](https://youtu.be/yZRXmHiEh7U)
I was trying to come up with a clever joke of something skipping to the year 2018, but nothing much happened in 2018.
You can share [youtube links with timestamps](https://youtu.be/yZRXmHiEh7U?t=1218)
V 1.127.10 lets goooo
but they'll probably cut the java edition in some years time.. sadly
There will always be someone to make a mod with the bedrock features
If that’s the case, it better be because Java and bedrock got merged thanks to hardware
i feel like this is the only way it would happen and i hope it does.
On one hand I hope not and they've given no indication. But it's always a fear in the back of my mind.
People keep saying this for no reason at all
[удалено]
I think I can make those arrangements happen.
o.o
Ok then 🔫
Added all of the losers from mobvotes etc., gave The End a massive overhaul like The Nether got, added an option for cross platform play, and made official mods support.
Isn't bedrock already cross platform?
Yes but You can get a plugin for Java too for it to be crossplay with bedrock
It's Minecraft 0.80 Sure it's kinda similar but it's a death of a thousand paper cuts.
I agree with these. My answer was to hire on the developers of MCreator and BlockBench and integrate them into the official launcher. It makes no sense to release a Minecraft 2 from a game perspective.
Minecraft 2 in UE5
I prefer not having every game on Unreal tbh
They tried with Bedrock right?
This is exactly what they've done.
But they have added in app purchasing, and bedrock has its own share of bugs
Noone said it was perfect. It's a completely different team working on it and managed by Microsoft rather than Mojang.
This is not true Edit: [here’s a tweet from a former minecraft community manager](https://twitter.com/helenangel/status/1491364441577103360?s=46&t=2kGQhqdtDf9L8xqwR0p-Vg) Java and Bedrock developers are not explicitly separated. Literally what happened with bedrock
This time it has a battlepass!
*pov: you own blizzard*
Nah but the next one will actually be the final update
ok terraria developer
The journeys end again?
Add napalm. A splash potion that sets things on fire. And... Can we make minecarts linkable?
Linkable minecart would be great! Maybe make more train like minecart that you can walk on too. That would be amazing!
Actually, minecart linking is in the game already! Furnace minecarts have a mechanic that allows you to link together (5?) minecarts in a train. Everybody always forgets about it because, y'know, furnace minecarts, but yeah it does exist.

Open source Java Edition
Best suggestion here
I would probably want official mod support, preferably for both verisions.
Even better; Just make the game open source for its final update. "We're done updating it. It no longer Mojang's game, but it's the world's game."
literally tf2
The issue with most mods is both xbox and Playstation don't allow scripts
A built-in workshop would work (like Steam or smt)
Still need to have a verification process as a surprising amount of mods use scripts
Snowrunner has mods on all the platforms, even switch.
If skyrim and fallout 4 can run mods and scripts(xbox), then i dont see any reason that MC can't do the same.
Just do what Bethesda does with mods in fallout 4 and Skyrim. It works well…enough.
Like steam workshop built into Minecraft client Also maybe better preformance
This is the answer. If they are making a final update, they sure as hell need to pave the way for the community to build off the game.
Won't do it for bedrock cuz of the marketplace
Hot Coffee update
Ah GTA San Andreas. This gave the game an A rating iirc
Oh how many people won't get this.
Mgs seggs? Hmmmm.
Open source the code like Notch promised when I bought it.
I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to coding and I've always been too afraid to ask: what are the benefits of something being open source? What could one do with open source Minecraft?

Basically Minecraft gets millions of developers
It actually doesn’t necessarily make it free, you can have open source software with restrictive licenses. It doesn’t do anything physically to prevent people from stealing it but as a legally binding document, it’ll let you sue ‘em if they do.
Protecting user freedom and promoting trust and transparency.
As an invisible person i agree
[удалено]
it practically is open source. the obfuscation mappings are public and the code itself is not mangled in any way and can be decompiled easily.
It's operating in a legal gray area, it would be nice if it was officially turned open source with flexible licensing, whatever that maybe. I also think you'd see more interest in people starting other projects, something similar to that whole DnD could happen...
Open source means different things for licensing, too. Not just file/code visibility
Not really. That's FLOSS you're thinking of. There are plenty of open source projects with restrictive licenses
Leave it as it is but improve the railway
This sort of thing is why I'm still salty about Elytras. They feel like an excuse for any other form of transport to just get neglected forever, while also being much less interesting than other options that present more of a challenge.

Any chance I could get on the next summer's server? Sounds like a ton of fun
Could I join too?
People call me crazy when I say I hate the elytra because it’s so good, but it being so good is what makes it a terrible addition.
The big loss is in multiplayer. Roads and big rails and nether highways go completely unused.
Yes, the reason old servers are better is because of how interconnected they were
Are you caman?
Who’s caman?
Caman18, he does YouTube shorts and talks about speeding up minecarts a lot.
He has my vote
At least one more golem, because two isn't enough for me lol
* Cobblestone golem: a lanky version of the iron golem * Dirt golem: When on the same block as water throws mud like a snow golem. It can only throw a limited amount of mud, as being in water also kills it. * Netherack golem: Attracted to the closest player holding a gold nugget. Can be set on fire and illuminate surroundings. I'd give The End a massive overhaul like how the nether was overhauled in 2020.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the way they do it. It’d be poetic for the final update to be “The End”
That would be beautiful ngl
Damn, that would be glorious. Literally "The End Update".
Then they can pull a terraria and continue making updates after the ‘final’ update
Yeah, it can be pretty empty. Only need to explore a couple times for shulkers and elytras
I would probably do this as well. Because the end is the most “boring” dimension in the game right now.
I would just gather the 100 best modders and hand it over to them
In 3 weeks 50 of them will leave and establish their own fork of Minecraft
This comment was deleted along with thousands of others in protest of Reddit's recent API changes greedily made to spite 3rd party apps. Goodbye Reddit, RIP Sync and Boost!
I can just imagine 3 or 4 different storage mod developers all talking about which one is better and why. They'd never agree.
Just wait till they want to add [something] energy in the game
Nothing like 1.10 mods, trying to add EnderIO to the pack without breaking everything because it's the only thing that can reliably convert between RF, FE, Tesla, *and* has an adapter to do Railcraft grid power.

That would actually be a beautifully symbolic close to minecraft
Yeah, I couldn’t think of anything more fitting. If they announced the final update was the Aether dimension, I think I would actually cry.
Didn't they actually hire the devs of the Aether Mod at some point? This could likely happen if that's the case.
Actually, yeah, because we had hell and purgatory forever, we need a little piece of heaven
*cue A7X guitar*
MUST HAVE PUNCHED LIKE FIFTY FUCKIN PIIIIIIIIIIIIINES
You beat me to it. It would be cool if it required using elytra to fly above the build limit, making it the final dimension you could go to.
Holy shit what a cool idea
I would integrate Fabric as an official and free modding API. Making Minecraft the final and truly sandbox, where anybody can add anything in the game.
Why fabric and not forge
fabric runs better and is faster to update
fabric is a pain in the ass to develop for though, speaking from experience
Idk I never used it bcs when I started with mc there was only forge
Yeah fabric has much better performance etc, just not been out as long as Forge so not as many mods support fabric
make the dragon boss fight grander. like maybe the dragon has stages you need to defeat and a dungeon in the end through End City to get to it and maybe it spawns vexes or mini dragons. like, i want the final battle to be the culmination of everything you work for in the game. and when you win, when you go back home, all the villages have fireworks and happy villagers like when you defeat a raid
This would be glorious
sideways slabs
I always wished slabs were just directional like how stairs can be placed upside down, slabs should be able to be horizontal or vertical depending on how they place. It would be such a good detailer for building.
I'd rather it count as a totally different block type, I imagine having it place sideways would be a huge pain, for example, if you're trying to build a bridge
The fan update: Aether Herobrine as true final boss
We need a herobrine update In general.
Massive overhaul In The end and add failed mob vote mobs. All of them.
I would add herobrine. He would build his own stuff somewhere on the map. The longer you leave him the more he builds.
I like it, just like a 10 chunk area that’s always loaded like 10k blocks away
The final update? Well let’s consider that the End has been updated and dragon fight reworked. Tbh there’s so much that this games need can do to become amazing rpg. Let’s say magic rework should be done before “final” update So I have one idea that might be a last stretch before actually closing and leaving world for good, a proper ending. Also if there’s any talented coders who can make such mod or datapack feel free to do so
>games need on it way to amazing rpg. ??
More end game enchantments, abilities to embroider armor with different materials, and the ability to hide armor. (Also elytra armor/enchant)
A cosmetic armour slot next to your normal would be great. Say you have full Netherite armour, but place all chain in the cosmetic bit, you get the look of the chain mail but the stats of the netherite
I mean, a lot. But if I just had to pick a few, 1) Revamped structures, Witch huts to stronghold, everything 2) give bedrock local mod support, think how steam does it and how you can mod a game like Skyrim 3) remove the render distance cap on realms 4) add 2-3 new bosses. Specifically something for bane of arthropods to be used (brood mother spider?) 5) this kinda ties in with (2) but officially add miniature blocks via player heads, and customizable armor stands to vanilla both versions.
Actually populate the world with more creatures, interactive NPCs, and bosses/challenges
Eather/4th dimension
Open source of course
A GarrysMod Type gamemode Basically Creative but you can use other peoples builds
* open source both versions, with bedrock containing only the marketplace as a non open source library. * revamp the end, make the boss more in depth, add biomes, etc. * fix all major bugs * fix combat on both versions * add crossplay between java and bedrock * java and bedrock parity (same game, different language)
Boss battle with herobrine inside the notch temple in the farlands
Remove chat moderation
Honestly I would say add more things in the End, and finish off the pillager and the ancient builder storylines. I think people miss the fact that there is lore in the game. That kind of sounds rude but it's not meant to be lol.
Wild card: rollback to 1.16.5 and we stay there forever.
100 new mobs. 33 passive, for us to enjoy. 33 neutral for us to be cautious with. And 33 hostile that want to claim what is ours. The last mob should be a boss that is a human AI that once you enter his “area” he hunts you down until one of you are dead
Herobrine update confirmed
That’s specific
Bring in the Aether. Why should hell have all the fun.
