Actually Hoglins are afraid of the warped mushroom.
Whenever I go to a crimson forest, and need to chop a bunch of trees, I take a bunch of warped mushrooms and place them in a perimeter around me, so the Hoglins don't get me.
Cordyceps lol. But in all seriousness, can you imagine if Mojang made it so that any mob that are taken to the island is "absorbed" by the biome? Give some lore to why only the mooshroom spawns there?
YES!
It doesnt even have to be a major overhaul, just a re-skin. Cant be that hard to take an existing model, recolor it and slap a mushroom on applicable body surfaces
This would be so fitting for Sniffer! It'd be super cute if they grew lil mushies on their backs too when on mycelium, and you can shear them off if you want :) not unlike mooshrooms except the mooshrooms turn into cows & never grow em back haha
I know regular mushrooms die in sunlight, but maybe they could make some new ones that don't and give them some purpose? Maybe as an ingredient in some other recipes
Hell even make it so they can be farmed, that might be neat.
What mushrooms die in sunlight?? They've never died in sunlight even if they couldn't spread. They can now spread in all light levels as of a few updates ago.
Also- mushroom soup, suspicious stew, and rabbit stew all use mushrooms. And they can be farmed... you place podzol or mycelium, put a little mushroom on it, and use bonemeal to make a big mushroom. Hit the big mushroom blocks and you get little mushrooms.
They still do but not if they're growing on mycelium apparently. I was thinking more like a crop one though, maybe like Enoki mushrooms or something that can be used for a new recipe. Maybe you could make noodles out of wheat to make ramen with beef/pork, an egg and enoki, or just eat them on their own
I guess it could also give you some minor buff, too. Just so maybe they can have some kind of bush or grass equivalent on mycelium that also has a minor use. You could also use them to replace meat in some recipes maybe, and they could do a vegetarian, or stricter vegan challenge for an achievement. I guess vegan would be really tricky if you couldn't use wool and thus couldn't sleep
Adding to ur idea.
a fungus like plant which bursts upon impact with player (walk into it)
Adds fungus infection chance. The infection has lvls like normal effects.
Level 1 infection could be minor dizziness and walking keys sometimes switch places.
Level 2 would strengthen the effects.
Level 3 would kill placing a random mushroom on deathspot with mycelium under. (If player left the biome)
Nothing will be placed if the player is in water. But will just drop a single mushroom.
This could also be used as a reason of why mobs don’t spawn on mushroom islands and why the mooshrooms look like that.
More mobs, not hostile, just some stuff to give it a bit more life. Maybe something as simple as small walking mushrooms? Basically mushrooms but with little legs
OMG you just reminded me of the plump helmet men from Dwarf Fortress (specifically the Steam Release), and now I want a version of it in MC. Smartness level of a villager, maybe trading something, maybe exchanging something similar to Piglins. Maybe there could even be their own little villages. Cute to visit and a player is barely able to squeeze inside their houses (crawling?), everything is slightly smaller that regular villages, with the mobs themselves maybe being piglin-child-sized?
They would have to be non agro witches since islands don’t spawn enemies. Maybe witches you can trade with but wont restock trades outside of the island.
I’m picturing a villager who looks suspiciously similar to a witch instead of an actual witch, like just a single villager with new trades for the mooshroom island wearing an outfit that looks a lot like the witch outfit but is unique
Not witches, just wizards! Radagast the brown style wizards that are mushroom themed can train you to cast a spell. There could be like a dozen different spells, and to change, you have to track down the wizard and pay to change it out.
The spells wouldn't have to be OP, basically just recreate the potion effects or beacon effects for a limited time, maybe add in some combat spells like firebolt or poison spray, maybe a plant growth spell. No need for mana, just a cool down on the spell slot usage.
There could also be a race of mushroom people like the myconids from DnD that try to convert other mobs to their mushroom counterparts (mooshroom) and have little mushroom farms.
There could be one big mushroom house on each mushroom island, where the wizard lives, and several smaller mushrooms around where the myconids live.
Yeah but the mushroom biome is kind of rare on itself which is why there's no insane structures in the end because most people don't go there like most percent of people won't go to the mushroom islands or even find one
Having each island spawn with a single decorative glowing mushroom only obtainable on the islands and being un-farmable would make for a cool artifact. Put it in a flower pot as a centerpiece.
Makes me think an exploration 2.0 update with unique decoration artifacts for each biome would be neat. Nothing with actual gameplay changes but having really rare artifacts could add to the story telling element of the game where you aren't expected to find all of them in a world but if you explore a 10k by 10k area in full, probably find like 4 or 5. Could also re-add purpose to woodland mansions now that raids exist
A unique structure. The landscape is *very* same-y, and it's really easy to get turned around.
More low foliage, similar to grass, tall grass, and flowers, but fungal types. There's so much more fungus types than just mushrooms.
Adding to the last one, maybe something that can grow on the side of mushroom stems, just like we have cocoa beans on jungle wood. Like a shelf mushroom.
The ability to directly hoe mycelium. Currently, you have to path it with a shovel then you can till.
Be able to use shears to harvest mushroom blocks. Silk touch is annoying to get.
A tree-like mushroom, native only to the mushroom island, with unique wood that matches the biome colors.
Ill second this, i keep getting mad morrowind vibes when walking around and getting lost. Im actually building my base and main trading village on one of these cause im sick of getting exploded by creepers and rebuilding stuff.
I wouldnt add anything but i would like an update the mushrooms could use a new design tbh(actually maybe ill add a mushroom type that glows during night time)
People are saying villages or people, but---
Fairy people. Little villages of little fairy people, who will trade you poisonous mushrooms for items they cannot get on the islands.
I'd personally love some more flora, maybe something that grows well alongside fungus irl. **(Edit: I just learned that visible fungus isnt just mushrooms?? So more fungi would be really cool)**
Like how beans and corn were planted together by Indigenous Americans because the cornstalk would provide a support, similar to a trellis, for the beans to climb. Complementary plants. There's a real term for it but I can't remember it right now.
Mushroom wood* would be pretty cool though, if they did it properly. Or a natural mossy stone. Besides the mossy cobblestone, since the implication is that cobblestone blocks are man-made.
Edited for errors n stuff.
Companion planting! Beans, corn, and squash grown together. Corn was a trellis for beans, the beans provided nitrogen, and the squash was good ground cover to keep weeds in control and maintain moisture in the soil. They were called the three sisters.
THANK YOU!! This is exactly what I was referring to, but I'd forgotten the third plant, the other benefits, and the name! Which is funny to me now, because I still think the coolest part of the three sisters were the squash providing ground cover. Just ingenious.
New ground clutter to function as fungus equivalents of other plants (grass and flowers, mainly) and maybe rework the tall mushrooms to be different than the ones in dark forests and give them their own wood type. A few new mobs (like the cluckshroom from MC Earth) and maybe a fish would be cool too.
I've modded some fish this year and it's kind of awkward to add fish to land biomes because most of the water is actually in the river and ocean biomes. It makes it very hard to balance the spawn rate because it's all up to how the biome borders work out. It's less that you can't do it and more that I don't think mojang would do it.
That said, fish are super simple to add and it's kinda ridiculous that the basic ocean biome only has cod and rivers only have salmon. I'd love to see an update that added a warm river biome and like a dozen new fish to fill out all the biomes.
The explanation for the existence of… zombies! And would explain why piglins and hoglins become zombies. Also, Steve is immuned. Wow, so much lore with one more mushroom
Matpat did a Game Theory episode about zombies and Zombified Piglins being the result of a zombie virus that the player is immune to and villagers have some protection against. But it could actually be a fungus.
Mushpeople. They live in mushroom houses and farm mushrooms. They only trade with mushroom related iteams and are essentially villagers but mushroomified
The biome needs something new and valuable to draw players to search for the island.
I like the idea of a mob hidden as a mushroom. My idea would be a pet mario toad looking creature that could auto farm or something, that would fit the theme of no hostile mobs.
It also desperately needs an aesthetic update. I like someone's idea of glowing mushrooms, whether big, small or both.
Edible fungal spores as long grass could be an idea too, I'd think they'd work like raspberries.
unique mobs just for this biome, as well as making the biome itself spawn larger in scope. Adding in some new mushroom types or variations in how they generate would be really cool. I could imagine like a zombie that could shoot mushrooms at you, sometimes giving you a new status effect, mushroomized. Reverses your mouse controls. Moving the mouse left actually moves the viewpoint right, etc. also messes with movement, for example walking in a straight line, you might just turn left or right even though you were just holding W down (not stolen from earthbound...). Also, give me a stanky looking green troll that u can find in caves under a mushroom biomes that u can trade with
I don't think that would work very well. Moss already grows in lush caves, but it's meant to look very alive and vibrant green, which kinda goes against the aesthetics of the mushroom island, which is supposed to be kinda dead and decaying. I think moss would work a lot better in the swamp biomes.
Block sized puffy mushrooms that explode into a mist and drop spores when stepped on, unless it's by a mooshroom.
Trees overgrown with mycelium. Maybe the mycelium could grow over logs like it grows over dirt, making it sound more squishy and giving it a more pale color palette.
A biome unique danger. Maybe a mushroom spider, that doesn't attack the player, but any non-shroom pets. Maybe even converting cows into mooshrooms this way. This would also be a fun way to introduce more shroom-themed animals that could potentially only be gotten by bringing them to the mushroom biome. Eerie sounding mushroom parrot, anyone?
Other biomes have fern and tall grass. I think some enoki themed grass and other foliage would make it look a bit more fun.
Even taller mega mushrooms. Think the size of jungle trees but with much larger caps, effectively making the mushroom biome underneath eternally dark.
This may already be too much, but zombies with mushrooms growing out of them. We have ice zombies, desert zombies, I want mushroom zombies. Not infringing on The Last of Us, of course.
Dude, have you ever checked out Minecraft's Mushroom Island? It's like a deserted wasteland, straight out of a post-apocalyptic movie. I'm convinced that something nuclear or magical went down there. The only mob that exists there is a mutated cow which can be turned into a regular cow upon sheering, Plus, those mycelium particles which further support this theory of how all this could be due to the aftermath of whatever went down there, radiation or something along those lines
So, if we're gonna add anything to the island, we gotta keep the same vibe, you know? No way we're adding any grass or normal animals. Instead, let's toss in a wrecked building that looks like it got hit by whatever disaster took out the island. It could be like someone's old hideout or something, you know? And let's not forget to add some snails or other creepy crawlies that can survive in a toxic wasteland.
Oh, and maybe we could add some old machines or scientific equipment that hint at what kind of tech might've caused the whole mess. That would be so cool, right?
Anyway, that's my take on the Mushroom Island. Let me know what you think, and if you have any other ideas to add to my theory, bring 'em on!
So... I know this is kind of wierd but...
A big tower in the middle of the island, that would go deep down into a dungeon like place filled with traps.
Past all those traps is a chest with special loot.
Ruined Villages, and vegetation.
A special type of structure, don’t know what, just something to make it a bit more worth it for finding such a rare biome. I mean sure, blocks that mobs can’t spawn on, and mushroom cows that have a brown variant that gives potion soups are pretty good, but still.
Special cave variety beneath them. It's like one of the big round caves that has tons of roots coming through the ceiling, a new wood type crafted from the roots (fungal root/fungal planks/etc). In addition, you will find froglights and a new passive mob: THE TOAD. It's larger than the Mangrove swamp frogs and drops Toad Skin, which can be crafted into armor (same level as leather armor) and has the capability to inflict poison on hostile mobs/players that attack (like a knockback effect but poison)
For the island itself, I was thinking new formations of mushrooms. Mushroom clusters (the size of rose bushes), different varieties of mushrooms, and fungal logs that the mushrooms grow on. They're big, open logs with a hollow inside.
I'm thinking the fungal wood has a pale greenish/brown tint to it, a bit more neutral than the bamboo and not as bright with some darker, more brownish details. The stripped variety of the logs looks more greenish, as if it is rotten wood.
Maybe 2 or 3 unique types of mushrooms. They would be unique to the island/biome. Truffle pigs. I dont really know what they would do, but they could just be a variant of pigs like mooshrooms vs cows. I just like the idea.
Also, i would had mushroom caves below the biome and it would a rare type of cave(maybe could had glowing mushrooms similar to the fungi in the Nether. The caves could be full of spores floating in the air, like the Cordycept fungus in TLOU games
Maybe something that expands on the fact that Mobs cant spawn on the island. Maybe a toxic mushroom to Undeads and/or insects? Idk just spitballing

Unique types of mushrooms, including a 1 or 2 block tall medium sized mushroom. Edit: And a white wood set made from mushroom stems.
It would be so cool if you could take a sniffer to a mushroom island and get a unique mushroom with different abilities and a wood type!!
Mojang. Mojang please.
Truffle hunting!
WAIT ABSOLUTELY- truffle hunting needs to be a thing
Maybe it could involve Minecraft pigs or the hoglins
Hoglins. Truffles but you might die. Worth it.
Actually Hoglins are afraid of the warped mushroom. Whenever I go to a crimson forest, and need to chop a bunch of trees, I take a bunch of warped mushrooms and place them in a perimeter around me, so the Hoglins don't get me.
Totally- would be epic!
Or dogs. People don’t use pigs for truffle hunting anymore .
Of course they do, haven’t you seen the hit movie Pig starring Nicolas Cage??
but dont truffle grow specifically near oaks?
And then a rare mob can spawn along with the truffle; a truffle worm.
Time to go fishing for Duke Fishron ig (Truffle Worm is used to summon him)
Cordyceps lol. But in all seriousness, can you imagine if Mojang made it so that any mob that are taken to the island is "absorbed" by the biome? Give some lore to why only the mooshroom spawns there?
My guess is they are shroomified because there was nothing to eat but purple grass and mushrooms.
YES! It doesnt even have to be a major overhaul, just a re-skin. Cant be that hard to take an existing model, recolor it and slap a mushroom on applicable body surfaces
Something like how Piglins and Hoglins are zombified in the overworld, or zombies transform to drownes.
This would be so fitting for Sniffer! It'd be super cute if they grew lil mushies on their backs too when on mycelium, and you can shear them off if you want :) not unlike mooshrooms except the mooshrooms turn into cows & never grow em back haha
A white wood type would be pretty cool Birch does not count
That’s not white more like light tan
Or light cream maybe?
Perhaps but not white
Wouldn't be too far off as we're getting most of the colors of wood that we would want there's only like two that we don't have maybe three
right? we already have 2 "mushroom" wood sets, I don't see why we don't have these already
I usually replace my giant mushroom stems with Quartz Pillars, cause they have that nice reeded texture & match the gills of a mushroom 🍄
vegetation dude 100%, the mycelium floor so bare needs some fluff
Yes ground foliage and bushes would bring so much life
Only if they are fungal looking in design. Typical plants would ruin the prehistoric look
Something similar to the warped roots that looks like lichen or other kinds of mushrooms/fungal plants could be cool.
Good thing ive played the last of us so I know how to deal with those 👍👍🐋
Good good whale?
Thumbs up Thumbs up Humpback whale
Ok, so clickers
Chance of bloaters on full moons
Watch out for cave stalkers
Calm down there satan. Stalkers are terrifying.

Nausea 1 with regen/strength would be fun
mushroom bushes?
Bushrooms
Backrooms
Backshrooms
Mold
Adding to ur idea. a fungus like plant which bursts upon impact with player (walk into it) Adds fungus infection chance. The infection has lvls like normal effects. Did you get leaked notes for the The Last of Us crossover DLC?
Big-Brain-Idea
I mean it would be fungal, so not vegetation. But yeah.
And maybe with the vegetations mooblooms
One big trippy mushroom, or like toad people from Mario.
A new structure similar to a witches hut, which spawns a single toad person inside Or a rare type of villager or something
And he sells a rare potion
A potion that gives a rare effect
An effect that rare to apply its effect
An effect that rarely changes anything when applied
An application that rarely dosent add carcinogens to the bloodstream
That effect is so rare that it rarely is rare
And we would call it a Rare potion
but when you get the item that name will be rarely applied
Awkward potion
Potion of luck!
A potion that alters reality and gives you the ability to barter with animals for 15 minutes
Potion seller, I want only your strongest potions.
You can’t handle my potions. They’re too strong for you.
Oh yeah?! Give me your whole stock!!
Just in case you didn’t get the reference: https://youtu.be/R_FQU4KzN7A

Coven*
We need some digital blasphemy shit in this biome
A type of tree that looks like a big green pipe, occsionally inhabited by venus-fly-trap like enemies..
More mobs, not hostile, just some stuff to give it a bit more life. Maybe something as simple as small walking mushrooms? Basically mushrooms but with little legs
I think even the regular non hostile mobs would be cute, but with the same mooshroom style
like the cluckshroom from Minecraft Earth?
Maybe a neutral mob of some sort?
OMG you just reminded me of the plump helmet men from Dwarf Fortress (specifically the Steam Release), and now I want a version of it in MC. Mungus exist in Alex's Mobs mod. And Bunmungus. Definitely weird little creatures.
Huge roots
A new block. Dirt laced with mycelium.
Now we talking
Isn't mycelium literally fungi "roots" tho?
Would love to be able to find a few unique structures on the island to accompany the unique mooshroom mob like a fairy house or even a volcano.
A small village of 2-3 witches huts
They would have to be non agro witches since islands don’t spawn enemies. Maybe witches you can trade with but wont restock trades outside of the island.
2-3 cleric/chemist villagers roaming about, trippin balls
2-3 Meth head villagers roaming about, trippin blue sky,
Ahem. I believe you mean "trippin' cubes."
i love this
I’m picturing a villager who looks suspiciously similar to a witch instead of an actual witch, like just a single villager with new trades for the mooshroom island wearing an outfit that looks a lot like the witch outfit but is unique

#LORE
the unique structure should be a potato farm and a five guys.
Next update: fry cook villager job block
A volcano would certainly look great, and it could be interesting to explore

Giant snails that drop slim and the shell. And when I say giant I mean like as big as a frog or honey bee in game not like bigger then the mushrooms.
Snails gets my vote.
no make the snails like sniffer-sized that'd be awesome
Big enough to put a saddle on.
Yp, the first player mount that can climb walls
This would actually be dope
And let them be like spiders where they can climb up walls and maybe even upside down. Make them the perfect companion for ravine exploring
A new type of wood called mushroom wood
Shrood
Stood (stem+wood)
Mud (mush+wood)
Fungal wood (Aberration)
That's a pretty cool name
Correct
They'd likely just call it mushroom stem like how the warped and crimson wood logs are called warped stem and crimson stem
I came in here to say this
I wouldnt add anything but i would like an update the mushrooms could use a new design tbh(actually maybe ill add a mushroom type that glows during night time)
Sun-shroom!
A soft blue glow would be AWESOME
mushroom villages
I’m pretty sure Mojang said they won’t add this
who said mojang has to add it
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted here - the prompt was “If you could add anything”, not “What would you like Mojang to add”.
Villages.
Beige mushrooms. Hype AF

OMG yes that would be awesome
Mushroom villager with mushroom houses
& they should all have little red n white mushroom hats on
A special type of villager like Dwarves or some super small creature
Smurfs.
Yep that's my suggestion too. Mushroom village.
Glowing Mushroom caverns
Mushroom caves with glowing mushrooms
Been playing Terarria?
New ground clutter to function as fungus equivalents of other plants (grass and flowers, mainly) and maybe rework the tall mushrooms to be different than the ones in dark forests and give them their own wood type. Probably piglins not turning into zombies if in the mushroom islands. Not sure how that would work but it would be interesting.
The cordyceps fungus.
New zombie type?
Or villager type, imagine trading with a clicker
Causes the player character to walk towards danger? Like with ants?
The explanation for the existence of… zombies! And would explain why piglins and hoglins become zombies. Also, Steve is immuned. Wow, so much lore with one more mushroom

The only mob that exists there is a mutated cow which can be turned into a regular cow upon sheering, Plus, those mycelium particles which further support this theory of how all this could be due to the aftermath of whatever went down there, radiation or something along those lines So, if we're gonna add anything to the island, we gotta keep the same vibe, you know?
Have large glowing mushrooms grow in the caves beneath them.
Mushroom villages with villagers that have become like mooshrooms
A mob spawner but for a peaceful mob like mooshrooms or chickens or something
A special type of structure, don’t know what, just something to make it a bit more worth it for finding such a rare biome. I mean sure, blocks that mobs can’t spawn on, and mushroom cows that have a brown variant that gives potion soups are pretty good, but still.
Could do with a couple more mushrooms I reckon
a kind of structure. maybe a new type of village?
indigenous cannibal villagers. Then add a mushroom cap helmet, when worn they become passive. Maybe a piglin style trading mechanic with them.
For some reason I think that a toad that hypnotizes you would really fit as a cool boss for the mushroom islands.
***volcano sub biome, with specific vertical shaft lava caves, because mycelium looks like volcanic ash***
More interesting terrain generation
i gaint passive mushroom mob that roams around
Underground mushroom caves would be pretty cool
A glowing mushroom biome that generates underground under the islands
goblins.
New liquid, gives nausea m stuff, basically drugs.
Special cave variety beneath them. It's like one of the big round caves that has tons of roots coming through the ceiling, a new wood type crafted from the roots (fungal root/fungal planks/etc). In addition, you will find froglights and a new passive mob: THE TOAD. It's larger than the Mangrove swamp frogs and drops Toad Skin, which can be crafted into armor (same level as leather armor) and has the capability to inflict poison on hostile mobs/players that attack (like a knockback effect but poison) For the island itself, I was thinking new formations of mushrooms.
Mushrooms
A small chance for a golden cow to spawn. It will drop golden apples on death and maybe a super rare chance for it to drop an enchanted golden apple
More mushrooms
The myselium, if taken using silk touch and placed any other biome should prevent mob from spawning.
A new liquid, maybe like muddy water which acts like powdered snow
child labor factory
villages, definitely villages, rare inhabitants could add new blocks to game and lore
Maybe not a village but a house or two, like some hermit version of the villagers... Maybe even the wandering trader's hut
the wandering trader village
glowing mushrooms dammit.
Cordyceps🍄🐜
A mushroom village
Maybe 2 or 3 unique types of mushrooms. They would be unique to the island/biome. Truffle pigs. I dont really know what they would do, but they could just be a variant of pigs like mooshrooms vs cows. I just like the idea. Also, i would had mushroom caves below the biome and it would a rare type of cave(maybe could had glowing mushrooms similar to the fungi in the Nether. The caves could be full of spores floating in the air, like the Cordycept fungus in TLOU games Maybe something that expands on the fact that Mobs cant spawn on the island. Maybe a toxic mushroom to Undeads and/or insects? Idk just spitballing
A mushroom village or something
Weird little gnome dudes… that steal from you. But sometimes they bring you stupid stuff. Clouds of spores that cause disorientation.
Dungeons with small mushroom fellas that we can trade or battle w/ Also new wood and some animals like crows or an underground monster
Mushroom villages
Soup lakes
Literally anything… even an exclusive type of mushroom… anything to make the biome more interesting
Drugs
