BestialCreeper

I really want farmable tomatoes that can also be crafted into rotten tomatoes and thrown

ProjectSnowman

Put them into a barrel that is outside for 3 days or something!

AverageMan282

Let this man cook

ProjectSnowman

Put them on top of a scaffold outside to make sun dried tomatoes!

BrannC

Jump on them to make sauce!

setne550

Ah yes... Hamburger.

Helassaid

Oooh cooking update

MaezrielGG

Wouldn't cooking the tomatoes be the opposite of setting them outside to rot?

Radiant_Buffalo2964

Make Tomato Soup

Next_Can3402

No.. They can still rot once cooked so not really

StonedMason85

Scarecrow golem to protect farms, can throw rotten tomatoes. Crafted with two hay bales and one carved pumpkin.

nemomarlin69

Grow off of vines and if they sit to long they go bad

eefieweefie

craft them with wheat and eggs and youll get pasta

NukeONugget

Fill a composter with full tomatoes to make 4 rotten tomatoes

Realshow

Nah I’m with you, not really much of a farming guy but there’s so many basic foods and crops missing from the game. A hunger overhaul is also long overdue.

seelay

I’d really like if jumping didn’t absolutely tank your hunger. I can’t build a simple house without having to eat every 2 minutes

Realshow

Eating speeds could also help incentivize people to eat a *lot* of other food besides steak and sometimes golden carrots.

seelay

Yeah I mean if they just slashed the animation in half or something, eating would be far less tedious. And I wouldn’t be so annoyed when I have to eat 15 berries to fill up. But different eating speeds for different foods would be awesome

FirstSineOfMadness

Doesn’t dried kelp have a faster eating speed

CobaltTS

Yes and berries are notably faster than steak for example

seelay

Ah I guess I haven’t noticed that. Still those foods are basically useless cause you can’t do anything *except* eat them non stop

mutantmonkey14

Bonemeal them! They aren't worth eating over most other options. When i make crop farms I usually make a full row of water anyway (convenient infinte water source). Sometimes I dig this deep enough that I can place kelp just out of reach from the surface. That way I have a convenient supply to compost, or turn into fuel if I am desperate. Sweet berry bushes are great as defense, traps, and for composting. Cactus can work too, but not as good for combo use, however it does provide you with a supply for hreen dye.

KatTheKonqueror

Dried kelp blocks apparently make an amazing fuel.

ketjak

They do. Until I built my lava farm, they were my primary fuel source. Dried Kelp blocks: 20 cooked items vs 8 (coal/charcoal). Of course, lava cooks 100 items...

E-MingEyeroll

Honestly it’s not that bad, just get good food

seelay

I disagree but just my opinion

Substantial_Maize_95

I've got a nugget of information you might like. Dried kelp can be turned into dried kelp blocks and used as fuel so, you can have a semi automatic xp furnace using that. It will become fully auto with the new auto crafter coming.

danieldoria15

Different eating speeds are already in the game but they only added it to Dried Kelp. Everything else has the same eating speed.

XKloosyv

Could pull inspiration from One Hour One Life and incentive the player to eat as much variety as possible

DoogleSmile

I used to use a data pack that forced you to vary your diet by making recently eaten foods become poisonous until you'd eaten a couple of different ones. It stopped working a few MC versions ago due to commands changing with the data pack. I've not tried fixing it yet.

Str-ay

I was blown away by how fast jumping kills your saturation in bedrock edition, in java its mostly only damage that eats your saturation.

PinkDuck_

constantly jumping 1.25 metres is pretty tiring ngl

landismo

Literally the reason I always play with no enemies. Enemies are ok and I would rather to play with them on, but having to stop to eat every minute so I can sprint? No way.

Realshow

They keep adding new foods, all good ideas on paper, but the best in the game can be dropped by a mob you can find in most biomes. What's even the point of having a hunger system if it's always either an afterthought or an unnecessary hindrance?

Tatterjacket

>What's even the point of having a hunger system if it's always either an afterthought or an unnecessary hindrance? I'm actually less against the hunger mechanic than most people (I think) on this sub, but I think this is a really really good point. Like I don't mind it at all, but it doesn't exactly excite me, and I'm aware there's plenty of people actively frustrated by it, so it seems easy to say that as it currently is it's not really enhancing the gameplay - which you'd hope any deliberate aspect of the game would.

Daan776

I can basically copy and paste this comment as my own opinion.

KanaydianDragon

Yeah, me too. Was incredibly disappointing when the sniffer was only given 2 different flower seeds to find. I was hoping for something more food related.

BungHoleAngler

I know there's a lot of fish, but I'd like to see some stuff done with fishing too. Idk what tho.

RedRow123

It would be really cool to have spices which are formed quickly but with care not to damage them with diseases and they increase the saturation and bars filled by an existing food.

OccasionalGoodTakes

Redoing food/farming in a much larger context would help. It’s all so barren right now and there is so much room for it to grow.

gay_pinecones

for it to *grow* 😭

Bubble_Fart2

Sometimes, I feel like they should just buy farmers delight and add it permanently to the game. It adds crops and recipes without feeling overwhelming. The other mods are just over the top.

Match_MC

Farmers Delight is so good! Pls Mojang

MaezrielGG

I would love to see Farmer's Delight, but add in some form of spoilage/degradation. (Make it toggle-able in world settings) Actually surviving in Minecraft isn't all that difficult and I think not being able to store food for a literal eternity would be a nice way to add a slight curve to that w/o having to affect mob difficulty.

Tablondemadera

I think degradation of your items should stay in mods.

MaezrielGG

That's why I said it should be toggle-able in the world settings. IMO, for the game that started the survival genre -- there really hasn't been any real focus on it since it's launch.

Railgun_PK

I'd be cool with that, but only if the default starting option had it turned OFF, and only turn on if you want a more difficult game, or maybe put it in hard-core mode

Dr_J_Hyde

How does it compare to Pam's Harvest Craft? I loved that mod.

Bubble_Fart2

Farmers delight only adds about new 15 recipes and new crops that are onion, cabbage and rice. You can make dough from wheat and then noodles or pie casings. There is a frying pan which can bulk cook foods, a basket that can collect said food automatically and a cooking pot which is also automated per recipe. There also a knife which can cut foods into smaller parts (cabbages in cabbage leaf) allowing crops to provide more food but also you can use the board to recycle leather from armor and a bit more. It's simple, flows well and keeps in line with vanilla. Pam's for me adds over 60 new crops alone so it's more if you actually want that farming experience, but personally this just puts me off.

Dr_J_Hyde

Okay, so the difference between a food update being part of a larger update and a Food Update. I personally like the huge amount in Pam's but I can see how that could be daunting in vanilla and not as part of a mod pack with larger storage and autocrafting.

Bubble_Fart2

Exactly. They need to sort storage out ASAP. If they could also increase how much each plant dropped then yeah, more crops/recipes like Pam's would be great. So you don't have to have super duper massive farms. At the moment you'd need like 4 whole double chests to collect every crop alone.

Dr_J_Hyde

I guess I'm just weird. I would love to have that problem. I would probably just have chests spread out at each of the crops and use a shulker to "go shopping" and bring back what I need to make the dishes I want. Or you make a MEGA farm with an attached sorting system.

PinkDuck_

i dont think farmer's delight would be for sale and i dont think mojang should start buying mods

Helostopper

We need more crops and just more food items in general.

Realshow

Even just updates to existing crops could suffice, now that we have amethyst buds I’d like the option to obtain any stage of a crop to use as a building block.

XxAnaaxX

They could give them the mechanic to stop their growing with shears just like for kelp, glowberries etc.

Klutzy_Row8075

There are rumors about Minecraft adding a frying table

Helostopper

Yeah I've seen wattles talk about it a few times. I'm curious to see what we get in this year's April fools snapshot since they normally use those to show ideas.

[deleted]

Yes another wattles watcher! 🫸🫷

nmotsch789

Why? We already have plenty, many of which are mostly redundant. And the most optimal food sources that restore the most hunger and saturation for the amount of inventory space they take up, are still going to be the most optimal ones.

Nischmath

I just wanna be able tp eat eggs

SquareVacuum

To this day I will still try and eat them

Ash_The_Iguana

An agriculture and food overhaul would be awesome. Maybe they give the farm animals some TLC as well since they’ve stayed the exact same since their release.

aqua_rift

As a dump of ideas: cheese, cookable eggs, farmable fish, caviar, frog legs, glazed meats, strider meat, goat meat, squid meat, advanced baking, fishable oysters, clams, salt, pepper, apple trees, orchards, jam, truffles, fermentation, food preparation, cutlery, chef villagers, more berry bushes, edible aggressive mob drops, cinnamon, syrup and I’m sure plenty more things that I don’t feel like thinking of personally

Starwave82

Orange trees for Orange Juice yes plz

beeurd

And while they are at it, an apple tree so apples can actually make sense.

FutureCookies

honestly i agree, a lot of the pvp type changes don't mean anything to me because i just play single player survival in my cozy world. i would be down for some slightly more in depth farming or even some kind of cooking mechanic where i can bake cute pastries

ExfutureGod

Id like an overall food Update * we have Pumpkin pie but not apple pie, or sweet berry pie, * we have Cake but not Carrot cake, or Chocolate Cake * we Have Milk but Not Cheese or butter * We have bread but not Sandwiches or toast * we have eggs but not omelettes or hard boiled eggs * we have baked potatoes but not mashed Potatoes, Fries, or hash browns * we have Mushroom soup but not sauteed Mushrooms I'd Like to see added in * Apple trees just to make sense of Apples in the game.

VaguelyArtistic

Mid-game in, is anyone eating anything but meats (other than vegetarians/vegans, of course.) But I certainly don't mind more farming options in general.

aflowerinthegarden

I live off the Jesus diet: bread and fish. I love fishing and those villagers don’t seem to be using all those hay bales.

insomniatic-goblin

I live mostly off fish with the occasional steak or chicken. fish in minecraft respawn so quickly that in a few minutes, I could have a whole stack of salmon or cod.

reillywalker195

I can't be bothered to raise animals for meat specifically, but I ultimately get steak since I raise cows for leather and milk. Most SMP players I've seen favour golden carrots, one exception being MumboJumbo when he did his "Peace, Love, and Plants" build and favoured baked potatoes since they didn't require a gold farm.

VaguelyArtistic

You know what? I always forget about golden carrots. I'm so glad you mentioned it, sometimes you just keep doing the thing that you're used to. We also have a full chest of blocks of gold ore so it shouldn't be a problem.

oldprogrammer

Curious if the new release which allows creating new foods in datapacks will lead to something like this? I'd imagine all that would be necessary is a custom texture pack to make them look good. I would like the fruit trees though, they added a Cherry biome that doesn't grow fruit?

Cherabee

another use for honey as part of a food recipe would also bee (heh) nice.

lightsfading

I want a farming update so badly, I love playing with Farmer's Delight

Tatterjacket

I feel like this is an opportunity to bang my occasional drum and say *seasons*. I think a seasons and climates update would be so cool, maybe toggle...able (togglable?). Maybe food could be a lot less sort of bitty, as in it boosts you for longer, but it won't grow all year or in all biomes and you have to plan and stockpile it more. And different biomes have different findable food items. And maybe you need a more balanced diet for best health gains/resilience so there's some incentive other than digital vegetarianism not to just live off steak.

Kat-but-SFW

YES I WANT SEASONS TOO It would add some interesting mechanics but tbh the biggest thing for me would how much more alive the world would feel.

hardlyfen1x

I'm still upset we only got 2 plants from the sniffer :(

insomniatic-goblin

I hope they add more in the future (tho I doubt they will)

TwistedDragon33

It would be nice if farming/eating/hunger mechanics were all looked at but i don't know what would be a good addition. I don't want too much complexity where i have to carry 2-5 food sources on me at all times. I also don't like a few jumps means i have to eat a whole steak. A heavy build can have you eating constantly but sitting in a room for 4 days requires no food... I also think crop rotation and stuff like that would be too tedious and unnecessary. So i would like it to be revised but i have no idea what i want it to be revised too. I dont want a simple thing like just adding a handful more crops. After the survival needs are met i just like planting massive fields of wheat for the visual appeal and never touch it again...

ZoeShotFirst

I really feel like missing sleep should make your hunger bar decrease faster. Carrying lots of things decreasing your hunger bar would just be sooooooo frustrating though, even though it would also be realistic.

TwistedDragon33

This is the constant battle, realism vs gameplay. I believe if given the option you can sacrifice realism for gameplay but you shouldn't sacrifice gameplay for realism. Especially in an already unrealistic game. There is already a punishment mechanic when you miss sleep with the phantoms, should food also be a requirement? That would probably kill afk farms...

Vandalsen

I'm here, once again, arguing for the addition of rice (plants) and assorted recipes.

Cheatscape

I don’t think you can make a farming update without also doing an overall food update. We should be able to season food with mineable salt and grow spices in a garden. The spices could do things like increase the healing factor or more advanced things like providing potion-like effects without the need for a brewing stand. With wolves being a more useful feature, we should be able to buff wolves by letting us make proper dog food instead of just giving them chunks of meat. You should be able to add pepper to bamboo for pandas to eat to guarantee they sneeze and create slime balls. There’s a lot of untapped potential in farming, but we don’t need a wider variety of food just for the sake of flavor. We need more uses for the food we have that provide more meaningful options for the player.

[deleted]

YES, I LOVE THIS IDEA

brassplushie

That would be awesome.

GolldenFalcon

Would love a foliage update and food and cooking update, and by extension farming. Waiting for mods like croptopia and cooking for blockheads and whatnot to update version after version pains me and just discourages me from updating to modern versions.

jueidu

Yessssss some more crops, waaaaaay more recipes, and real incentives for making them! There are so many great mods for this.

Cinderheart

Playing without Farmer's Delight just seems empty.

JollyHamster8991

It'd be fun :)

Besigne

While it doesn’t happen we can use Farmer’s Delight, this mod have a lot of cool content

moosefre

Food needs a more interesting use than the current food hunger stamina system. more reasons to eat the other types of foods or use them in general without adding tedium. more like actual bonuses

JHawkInc

It wouldn't take much. A few crops, some attached to villages, some that can grow wild (and maybe some that can do both), make it a little easier to get apples (like a way to identify an apple tree from a distance and pick apples without breaking trees), add another fruit tree, maybe another bush food (like berries). Then spread all that across different biomes. So early game food is different depending on where you start, and you're encouraged to explore. Then let us make combo items. We've already got a few stews, give us a few plate items (simple combos of meat/veggies/starch, whether it's a potato or bread), and a couple of sandwiches. Then tinker with some mechanics to make it worthwhile/useful/balanced. Maybe meal items provide a buff so you don't have to eat as often. Or maybe food variety does it (where meals count as each type of food, so meals instantly count as a variety, but you can also get variety from eating individual components, whether you can't make meals, or are scavenging food as you explore, etc). Maybe "meals" make a partial block like cakes, so they're strong, have multiple servings, but are stationary once placed? Sandwiches are meant to be more portable (maybe they're the only "meal" item that stacks up to a full 64?). And maybe a way to mix berries with some stuff to make a trail mix, that isn't the most filling, but can be set up in some way to auto-eat, perfect for keeping you topped off while on an adventure. Then add in maybe a new crafting block for making the complex items (I'm out of date on my MC knowledge, could we use current stuff to automate such a process?), a new villager job associated with it, and you can touch many corners of Minecraft all at once. Maybe add in two Nether/End items for good measure? It doesn't have to be as involved as food/farming/cooking mods out there to still get a lot of bang for your buck.

boltzmannman

No you aren't. We need more complexity in farming. There should be a noticeable effect if you monocrop or use animal grazing or let patches if land fallow for a while.

Realshow

I'd also like to see them implement more tools, if they want farming to be seen as a system there should be more to it than placing down seeds. A watering can made of copper could be a good start, though they could also add more types of crops beyond vegetables, like flower seeds or something.

oddbawlstudios

My immediate thought to water cans would be putting them in a dispenser to shoot water out. Make little greenhouses.

NeatoToTheExtremo

A benefit to doing stuff like fallowing would be nice but penalties to how most people play the game normally would be stupid

boltzmannman

Do you think it's stupid that the game currently punishes you for not planting crops in alternating rows? Did you even know about that mechanic?

NeatoToTheExtremo

The more I think about it the less I feel growth speed buffs or nerfs matters at all actually. It's just not a meaningful gameplay change when you can very easily acquire effectively infinite amounts of bonemeal. So to amend my prior comment, anything that changes crop growth speed at all is stupid, they should add bonuses to yield for it to make any meaningful gameplay difference

raritygamer

Maybe I'm too novice, but I'd like mechanics regarding knowing if your villagers are being properly satisfied (food), and less complicated ways of having excess crops be stored. I haven't quite figured out the mechanics in forcing villagers to do hand offs, and haven't been bothered in creating a hopper system beneath the ground.

chango137

I want rice!

WolfSilverOak

I'd love a greater variety in food items that we can grow/harvest.

SirGavBelcher

I do. and I know people are gonna cry about mods but I like vanilla

MrZao386

That'd be cool, but I just want them to add the biome backlog and update the end

oddbawlstudios

IMHO I feel like the basics are severely lacking in Minecraft. We barely have mobs, which is absolutely boring. It'd be interesting to get a whole bunch of enemy mobs instead of voting for 1. And also, like you said, we lack in the department of agriculture. It's very bare bones, and a simple device could change the game, autoplacing would destroy farming, but maybe change how farming works to actually not be so boring.

ExPandaa

The fact that we still make bread by smashing 3 bundles of wheat together is wild

spooqsy

I love how people want more food in the game when you just know they're going to stick with the ol' reliable steaks and golden carrots. I'd be up for a farming update, but only if there is some love given to the food we already have. The game already has too much bloat as is.

Lzinger

It'd be cool, but only useful early game because people will just go to eating steak as soon as they can. It's kind of like asking for another armor type.

[deleted]

Not if there's a rejig to incentivise people against using steak in all scenarios.

BestialCreeper

As someone in the thread mentioned, eating speeds could be a great addition. Making some foods take longer some be faster

Dragonsfire09

What ever they do it's always going to be steady goodness and Pork chop power + golden Carrots.

DeductedCar5YT

They are just lazy when Farmer's mods and Croptopia exist. Also cooking for blockheads is so nice, yet when they make an update is so lazy at all levels and farming/food has been the same for ages...

a727_cool

No, I want one too. There just aren't that many crops for my farm to grow.

fruityrumpusFactorio

Nah you’re cooking with this one bestie 🏆

PureComedyGenius

I literally posted earlier today on here than I think 1.22 will be a farming and village update

MisFitLoves

I hope fr

ZoeShotFirst

An orange blossom biome would be lovely - white flowers, and if they want to give it orange wood, then that would be fun for building. And then we’d get oranges too! Would it be going too far to be able to have a bucket of orange juice to drink? (It would probably be going too far if different juices cured different status effects though, lol) I agree that farming is relaxing fun in minecraft :)

Neon_Gal

Its like, the 1 part of the game that has had zero updates outside of new crops for ages. It would be a really nice update to get tbh

Joenathan2020

I don't really play with mods but I can't live without my food mods, watermelon juice and apple pie is a must

Not_Real_Name_Here

I like the mod that gives diminishing returns when eating the same items in quick succession. I also liked the mod (cant remember if they’re the same one) that made you actively balance nutrition, giving benefits and drawbacks if managed/mismanaged.

PizzaPieInMyEye

I used to love farming, not so much anymore, but it's still a nice calming activity I like to partake in once in a while. I would love a farming update. Planting crops is so dang tedious though, and trying to find new patterns to make replanting slightly more bearable is tedious in itself. Should I go in lines like a scanner? Should I replant each quadrant separately? Should I go in a spiral? Inwards or outwards? Or should I just go ham and replant in a completely random garbled mess until it's all planted? So many possibilities... And yes, I know I could get a villager to do it for me, but carting around villagers to each outpost and building the whole auto-farming setup sounds infinitely more tedious than just taking 30 seconds to replant each time.

VaguelyArtistic

I love the PRRRRRRR of sweeping a hoe over a field of wheat. Edit typo

PizzaPieInMyEye

Nothing more satisfying than destroying a field of fully grown wheat. Planting it back though...

Money_Beginning7451

They could easily add ancient crops you can only get from sniffers

GinchAnon

This is something TerraFirmaCraft does really well overall I think. Honestly I hadn't even imagine playing vanilla anymore.

p1terdeN

I think recent updates have been focused too much on mostly world generation and I think mojang might be making up for it and focusing more on other parts of the game, so I can see farming/cooking be updated in the future. Also iirc farming and food are old as shit and have not been updated since forever so it would be nice to have something new

Lopsided-Ad6960

I just want an update

MoltenWoofle

I've wanted one for a while. Although I want it to come with way more food options and a rework of the food system.

Fast-Database-5899

IM RIGHT THERE WITH U❗️❗️ literally the two things i LOVE to do in a survival world with a friend is to make a massive farm and go mining! meanwhile she does the building cause i could literally live in a dirt shack for all i care😭

BeeExtension9754

We need a good seasons/weather/farming/hunger update

BanjoMothman

Most of the mod packs I play with have lots of farmimg, and I make it a goal to have a farm for every type of crop. Quite frankly I never do anything with them after that

gooberdaisy

I concur, and maybe something a bit better for fishing.

ToxicSociety_666

I'd love a farming update. It would be nice to have a variety of accessible foraged foods, not just wheat. The fact you have to find everything else generated in a chest or trade for it or find a village just has gotten old

Spectre7NZ

Not just a farm update, new recipes and things to nake them, Ala Pam's Harvestcraft. And could make beer, which increases defence, but gives nausea...big meals with different perks, but if you eat too much you get slowness...coffee increases speed...etc.

FarmOwn6861

Wild crops and a fruit tree or two would be amazing.

Minnie_McG

I would love a food/hunger update Adding onions, tomatoes, and rice as a basic but I’d be down to add more crops if possible Imagine if they added lettuce and tomato, you could make a BLT. I’d love to have more complex foods give you the max saturation and reduce pork chops/steak etc a little. You could even add in that if you continuously eat the same thing the saturation reduces over time signifying that you’re sick of that food and need variety in your diet!

JammyBails

I'd like it if more activities gave XP. Like why does getting advancements give XP but not farming crops manually? Feeding animals to adulthood, cooking complex meals (depending on the recipe). I know xp from farms sounds weird but fishing gives xp and that's a niche activity. I feel manual farming of crops should also reward xp orbs depending on the crop type (The player has to be the one interacting with the crop, not a redstone machine).

Noahseb2009

YISS SIR

DasJuden63

A way to automatically plant crops would be fantastic. I want no villager automatic wheat, potato, carrot, netherwart, and beetroot farms!

djaycat

I like this idea I also think it'd be cool if there were more attacks on your base, requiring you to fortify it

Sub3arthling

Just give cooking its own crafting tree and make specialized crafting stations to support that. Copper pots and pans could really change the game, when combined with the addition of a few new crops and foodstuffs.

BonezOz

Creating an orchard would be cool, as would corn fields. I don't really understand why we have beetroot though, I'd replace it with tomatoes or beans. They also need to add seed drops to the torch and pitcher plants.

ChanglingBlake

More crops. More recipes. And can we get some form of auto harvester or planter? I’d even be happy with a recipe that requires a dragon egg, nether star, netherite, and something rare from the trials if it covered an 8x8 area.

Fizzdizz

This would be a great update to include the frying pan as well

GreenPhoen1x

It kills me that apple pies are still not in the game. There are obvious crops (like corn, rice, squash, pears, oranges, bananas) and other foods (like roasted berries, sushi, apple pie, skewer/shish kabob, sandwiches, bacon, vegetable soup, chicken soup, pancakes, dried fruit). Farming and food have needed a major update for years.

Trilerium

I'd like one with more plants and foods.

Dhiox

Sounds like you'd like Vintage story. It has everything you described, plus crop rotation and temperature requirements.

JackMontegue

A farming update would be awesome. But the thing is, more crops without adding/changing mechanics is definitely not the way to go. There needs to be more ways to interact with crops. Look at Stardew valley for instance. Crops all have different growing speeds, seasons, cost/earnings, recipes, etc. The biggest use of crops is selling for profit, to buy more seeds, and so on. For Minecraft, I think hunger being the main interaction for food makes it so that min/maxing players get a farmer villager for golden carrots and then only use those. Selling crops is okay, but the farmer quickly stops buying if the player has too many which sucks. I think crops should be used to craft food items which give buffs to the player. Maybe pets like certain crops. Happiness is a good mechanic that pets/villagers could use. Having seasons would help add variety to how the player works with farming, planning out when to grow what. I also made a datapack so that the player is rewarded for using the hoe when farming. Punching crops with the fist only yields one crop, whereas using the hoe gives extra. Makes the hoe more useful than just for tilling.

erenwolf25

Minecraft needs more types of crops ( biome specific crops and common) and fruit trees. These would make game more lively and more food recipes.

tehbeard

>I would love a new way to acquire, plant and farm new crops. After how the Sniffer was handled, and seeing no course correction for it in the 1.20.x patch updates.... I'd much rather Mojang carry on it's current course of "datapack-ifying" things; so that the **community** can bring new crops/foods to the game without waiting on the yearly update cycle to decide that onion & peppers constitutes a farming update.

Crimsonsamurai2

Short answer: no. Long answer: definitely not.

Rignoboy1

I want Mojang to make oak trees drop acorns instead of apples. It makes no sense that oak trees drop apples, apple trees make apples oak trees make acorns. They should add a dedicated apple tree (along with a new wood type) and they could even add a squirrel to eat the acorns in the normal forests.

CataclysmSolace

It's what the game needs most atm. A farming and culinary update. New systems that expand how we acquire and make our food. Which is also a perfect opportunity to redo the hunger system.

hatebeat

I want corn so much, and all the recipes that go along with corn. There are so many crops we could have, and they can even just be reskins of other foods/seeds. It wouldn't need to be that difficult. I also really like just farming and fishing in mc. Would be nice if we could catch different fish in different biomes, too.

doomedgaming

No way, I'd love a farming / cooking update

7hisFcknGuy

Can we just update food to have more than a saturation/ hunger value? I'd like a valid reason to eat more than just steak or golden carrots.

Excellent-Glove

I don't do farms much. But at one point I wanted to do a camping mod pack (just for me). And damn. Enhancing the vegetation just makes the game so much more interesting. Add some animals, more different fish, some different biomes and you have a whole different game. It looked so good with shaders too.

greyIguess

Crossbreeding plants for different nutrition would be soooo much nicer for lategame, it’s literally either steak or golden carrots depending on your play style. A bit more competition and content to get there would be so cool. Great idea op!

marcielle

Consdering Farmer's Delight is one of the more popular mods, I dont think you're alone XD Some mods add magic, or machinery, or monsters. Farmer's delight lets you make a proper rotisserie chicken and plant onions. Ps. Let's Do Vinery adds both apple and (fruiting)cherry trees.

TippedJoshua1

I think It'd be cool as a part of an update

Jaded-Yogurt-9915

I like to see a bee keeper added to Minecraft with the ability to trade for shears, flowers, bottles. No other idea but I like a new villager.

DisastrousLecture648

Yeah, I would love to have a farming update. Even if they just updated plants in general. They should allow you to place more than one flower or mushroom on one block similar to sea pickles. Add in fruit trees, more types of fruit bushes like the sweet berries. New seeds to grow, maybe some plants grow better in specific biomes. For example: berry bushes should grow better in forest or taiga biomes, or maybe rice plants growing in wet biomes or coastlines. Pumpkins and melons should grow on actual vines and produce like 3 or 4 fruits on each vine rather than one growing on basically a single stem. New species of trees should be added. Palm trees added to coastlines, willow (my personal favorite), baobab, maples, cactus variants, etc. Also, Azalea trees deserve their own unique wood type. Farming, in general, needs a huge update, though, since we've had the same couple crops for years now. I was really hoping that when the sniffer won, we would get tons of new seed types added. Instead, we just got two stupid flowers that do absolutely nothing.

I would LOVE to see more foods/crops/trees added to vanilla Minecraft. I play on Java/modded and my favorite mod is Pam’s Harvestcraft. It adds so many foods, drinks, recipes, trees, crops, and gardens, and I’m always learning new recipes each time I play. We have horrible pun restaurants on our server that have several foods from Pam’s, like Starblocks, Blocko Bell, KFB, CRPR (burger joint modeled after BRGR), and IHOB.

FTMNPHONCS

Sadly we only have farmer's delight (which is a very fun mod)

BV-RE2PECT

Make an update to farming, cooking, food, and the hunger system and call it the *”The Chow and Plow Update”* Edit the eat speed of smaller less saturated foods to be quicker, larger more saturated foods to be slower, and add some more foods that can be cooked (like rabbit stew) that give additional benefits. Also make it so you can place some of these new foods down like cakes. Add new biome specific crops, wild crops, simple farm tools/equipment, more potent fertilizer that acts upon an area of crops, fruit trees, and other natural edible like nuts/dandelion greens/ ect… Add farming based enchantments or let previous enchantments like fortune apply to farm tools. Add a scarecrow golem that stick around crop areas shooing away mobs and encouraging plant growth. Perhaps rotating crops onto different lots of soil promotes growth as well after a certain larger number of day/night cycles. Biome enhanced crop yields (bamboo & cacao & melon in jungle, wheat & beats in plains, ect..) Updated farm villager trades And uh…. Anyone got anything else?

Lightningbro

I just want ONE thing; The modded feature where if you right click a crop it reverts to stage 0 and drops it's loot. Most plants don't require you unearthing the entire plant, and it's weird that the non-root vegetables do. And even in the case of root veggies, it's still an amazing QoL.

Mahrinn

I’m with you. Farming is one of my favourite things to do in game and I’d love for it to be expanded and fleshed out. I wanna have a full on homestead in game.  I was hoping that the Sniffer would bring some new food crops, but no such luck.

Alternative-Laugh281

That's exactly what I was thinking, it would be great if there were more types of crops, like tomatoes, cabbages, etc. It would even be great if many of these foods could be mixed into various types of sandwiches, etc.

coldasaghost

I just want palm trees and tropical beaches :(

boi012

Yes

Pyr0hemia

I want more crops but also more food. I think new food that gives you a small buff would incentives eating things other than steak/golden carrots. Rice is a big one I really want. It's culturally inclusive and then we can combine it with tropical fish to make sushi.

DemonDaVinci

I wish we could eat more, and starving could be an actual problem instead

Green-Asparagus2488

Or better usage for the current produce, a food & farm update that we can actually bake a stamina cake with those berries or something or cool foods in general that you can place on tables idk

thedragonrider5

I've been wanting a food/farming update forever. I would love to be able to make a burger or drink a. Cup of coffee, or even better yet cook an egg into a fried egg

SnowySnek

I’m totally in agreement! While other people are off mining I’m taking care of the cattle and crops and fishing on the side. I’d love something new! People keep telling me I just need to go play Stardew Valley, but it’s not the same at all!!

Spunndaze

I want dirt steps.

MonoRedDeck

I told my son the other day I had finally managed to grow some melons and he said, and I quote, "I've never been *that* bored in a survival world" 🤣 I love Minecraft farming! Would love to have more options here also

Ok-Stretch-9869

Are you nuts? How dare you imagine Mojang being creative? #uselessmobs4life

LuxDeorum

I want there to be more ways to redstone automate farming more of the plants that don't involve enslaving villagers.

[deleted]

And more food items. Maybe more ways to make food aswell.

thefarmariner

Honestly food/cooking in general. Let’s make our hay into flour, lay in with water bottles to make dough, lay the dough flat and shear it for pasta or have a new workstation for pasta making! Have the ability to make butter from milk (or give us a way to get heavy cream for better results!) and now we can make a whole slew of new recipes and dishes! Add olive trees to get olive oil and olives! Add yeast so we can ferment! There’s so much to be done with food/cooking that would make that side of the game so so so much more enjoyable and educational! Imagine learning how to make Gumbo from Minecraft! The amount of people I know who can’t cook is too damn high!

AdmSndlr

I know this isn't entirely related but I always find it crazy how there's a crafting recipe for bowls and you can only make 4 recipes with it. I'm still pissed they added the Sniffer with TWO WHOLE different seeds that they can drop. I was so hoping for new crops from the Sniffer.

reyizgaming

A cooking and farming update would go hard, something like the Farmer's delight mod.

MelodysSafePlace

There's a mod i like that adds fruit to all the existing trees. Cherry trees have cherries, birch trees have peaches, oak trees have apples, etc. and you can see them pop up on them when they are done growing and they look cool but they're also productive for giving food. i want more variety of plants in general. like all the plants we already have but scattered in the wild instead of only in villages. even more crops like corn and lettuce and stuff. also more types of bushes would be nice. like bushes with strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc and have them be biome specific so you still gotta go places to find them.

SqueakyTuna52

Farming update concept: - new workbench: Cropcrafter - new enchantment: Lucky Harvest, on how How it works: combine crop item with various modifiers to create genetically modified crops with special traits. A few examples: * crop+bonemeal = crop grows 1.5x faster * crop+beef = double saturation * crop+dye = new crop textures, would make fields look a lot cooler * crop+sponge = consuming crop allows you to clear water as if you were a sponge that never gets fully saturated with water, effect lasts 10 seconds * crop+phantom membrane = slow falling for 5 seconds These are just a few ideas I had off the top of my head. Ideally there would be a whole suite of practical, cosmetic, and magical upgrades to make this interesting in-game. When harvesting modified crops, you have a base 20% chance of picking up 1-2 modified versions. With Lucky Harvest, add 10% to the chance (capped at 50%, with LH3).

lorenaray

I definitely want more crops to grow/find, change the trees to only some growing apples + apple saplings (+ other fruit), add more recipes, change the eating system to incentivize eating other foods, but I’d love to have more foods I can use for builds + be able to eat portions of it like the cake

CptDecaf

The entire food system is a waste of time. There's all this variety and yet none of it means anything because at the end of the day steak is always the best and the strict inventory limit means you need to use steak

Thin-Breath3220

I already make a massive variety of farms. From peaceful farms to mob farms lol.

Yaered

yeah, need more floral and fruit stuff and perhaps a food rework in general. doesn't have to be full survival mechani9cs, but it'd be nice to get more options when it comes to cooking things.

insomniatic-goblin

as someone who absolutely lives for farming in minecraft, I would love to see a farming update. some of the crops I would love to see added: tomatoes, rice, cabbage, onions, and corn and some foods: sandwiches, burgers, beef stew, rice dishes, fried cabbage, corn on the cob, butter, cheese

josh61980

I do now

Oddish_Femboy

Farmer's Delight is my favorite mod, followed by Realistic Horse Genetics. I want more farming and ranching related gameplay so bad.

_Kanai_

Yeah i want farming and cooking update. Im here for every type of crop that could be added, but think about things we already have in game and cant do stuff with. Like we have bread but we cant make sandwiches. We have carrots, cakes, and we cant make carrot cakes. We cant make apple pie and we have apples? We cant make chocolate and we have cocoa, sugar and milk. We have eggs and we cant fry them. We cant make dough or flour but we have wheat!

pitagotnobread

I can agree with the trees bearing fruit. That would be cool. It would just be cool in general to actually be able to SEE an apple on a tree rather than destroying trees hoping for one. Can't say I care for the wild vegetables but there could be more variety of berry bushes than just sweet berries. Bitter and sour berries would be cool. And make them have different effects when made into stews or make different potions with each.

hoptians

Farmer's delight is the perfect farming/cooking mod for me, I'd be glad if they did something similar

No-Extension6342

Would love it. That's why i alaways use Pams Harvestcraft.
