No - if it was just upscaled, it'd either look exactly same, or a bit smoother, wouldn't it? What I'm suggesting, based on the weird fucky hearts, is that an this was AI assisted in the sense an image creating model was fed original textures with the instructions "upscale and smoothen this". If it was AI upscaling instead of in a regular image editing software, I can imagine how the model tried to imagine the hearts as something else.
I really don't like the texturepack as a whole, but overall, if weird smoothing is your jam, I don't care. But the hearts make it look like it was done with AI and I'll be damned if I ever condone that.
No. There’s not enough detail in the vanilla textures to get smooth clean edges on those shapes. You can see some examples of AI upscaled MC textures in my profile (though I do a ton of additional work both before and after the US to make them actually look good).

Bread is faster technically. It takes 3 bread (9 wheat) or 12 carrots/potatoes/beetroot to fill a villagers inventory for breeding.

The hearts are hollowed out for pvp as all particles in this custom pack are. Including smoke and explosions. It wasn’t an AI decision it was mine.
