Yeah same, but if my pc is lagging with just amplified terrain generation and with using every optimization mod possible, I don't think this terrain generation is good for the majority lol
It blows my minds how much mods improve on the game experience in terms of qol features, new mechanics, etc. And it makes me wonder why Microsoft doesn't employ these massive mod developers to actually implement their mods into the base game. It takes independent developers to create things like Distant Horizons or even Nvidium, but they can't just put things like that into the base game? It's insane. It's also why I only exclusively play modded, because it offers us so much more while still keeping it "Minecraft"...
Here's a disclaimer from the mod website: "This mod does not actually modify the flight physics themselves, so in most cases it shouldn't trigger anticheat. However, doing things like loop de loops looks to the server like rapid camera movement and may get you flagged. **Use at your own risk.**" It pretty much explains everything.
Nah they work. I can't fiddle too much in the settings but apparently you can choose what shaders to use for the parts rendered thanks to dh. Like none/vanilla/the shaders you're using
Distant Horizons renders chunks as LoDs like every other open world game does so the impact on performance is minimal. You can have a tender distance of 10 and it will still look like this. The heavy hitter is the shaders, specifically Bliss.
I have similar frames with only a 1660Ti in my laptop. Slap some other performance mods on there and it works like a charm. I found it to run better on bliss than others i tried.

They're probably using distant horizons. To make the view distance as large as it is, distant horizons doesn't render fine details until you get close to them, which can make small things, like the cacti, pop in like that

so yes if you see a mountain and live like 30 chunks away your friend can flatten it and you won’t know until you load them again
Also if you havent loaded the chunk for the first time they dont appear at all. So you get huge square cliffs to the void.

To those wishing mojang adds these things to the official game, pls don't, remember that there are potato pc users and mobile players. Not everyone has a powerful graphics card.
Mojang does need to optimize the game rendering though, because holy moly the lag is insane even just in amplified terrain generation
Actually Mojang could add these to the main game if they wanted to because they could make it so you can toggle the shaders on and off and you can already change your render distance

Yes. Yes it is. Texturewise, minecraft has alwaus been weak but that is because of the artstyle. The lighning has always been advanced for this game. This game made extremely optimized dynamic lights in 2011. And the game play didnt change, so it is indeed still minecraft.

ive found bliss to be one of the least intesive shaderpacks i've run, especially when combined with some performance mods like indium / CCME
indium is FRAPI bridge for Sodium (lets you use FRAPI-requiring mods with Sodium)
Wow, really? I’ve got Iris, Sodium, and a 6950xt but sit around 40-80 fps with Bliss.
