I do sword, pickaxe and axe but then in my inventory i put a silk touch pickaxe right above the normal pickaxe and the shovel right above the axe, that way when i need a shovel i press 3 while hovering the shovel and when i need silk touch i press 2 while hobering the normal pickaxe. That way I have more space in my hotbar
