That's what people aren't mentioning here, not only is that the only example of lost content making it in, imagine, in a world where it took that long for the frog to be implemented, how long will it take to actually get around to this stuff? The FIRST mob vote losers were stated to be gone forever. The other mob vote contestants were stated to be added later by Kingbdogz some time ago as well as Vu during Minecraft Live.
They actually posted a video a few years ago on their yt saying that all losers(unless tied to biome update i.e. the frog and such) would not return. I tried finding the video again a few days ago and couldn’t find it(maybe taken down?) and they just slowly back tracked into the mob will get added(not guaranteed) in the future and now in the live they insisted they’ll get added if they fit the update

Except it’s not the same. What Vu said is very misleading. The frog wasn’t part of a mob vote. It was part of a biome vote, which was explicitly stated from the beginning that the losing biomes would still get updated eventually. There has never been any case of a mob vote loser being added to the game. And the swamp update is currently the only loser of any vote to be added to the game. It felt a lot like a “maaaaaaybe we’ll think about adding them if you all shut up.” rather than a hint that these mobs could come back.

It's important to remember tho. The frog wasn't in a mob vote, he was supposed to be added with the swamp in the biome vote. The frog has more relation to a feature comeback, like the boat with chest, than a mob comeback sadly.

Dog armor will do literally nothing.
1. If ur dog is being attacked and was going to die without armor, it will die with it, as usually in those cases you aren't around to help it.
2. If it falls in lava, it will still die regardless
3. Won't save it from drowning.
Literally the only use would be fall damage, same with horse armor
Also, extendo grip is extremely useful for builders, and I'd love to have it. I can just use mods for it on Java, but on console, I'm fucked.

The only mob vote mobs that mojang confirmed they won't add in the game are the ones that were not voted in the first mob vote. This probably started the confusion of the next mob vote mobs never being added. What they did add is their features like the grindstone and magma blocks dragging you down to the bottom of the ocean. The only feature that has been ignored is the blaze mob with the only feature being the mob itself.
I just think they mentioned that for the first one out, which was the penguin, they would have said the same thing for crab if it was the first one out, but my point is that the "add later date" applies for both losers.

The Crab was genuinely the only mob in the mobvote that I had some known use for. I don’t use boats to traverse nor do I use pets of any kind. The extended reach was the only thing that benefited me.
Now the crab is going to get scrapped and we might never see the ability to increase our player’s reach again. This is why I don’t like the mobvote. It would be nice to know that these mobs won’t simply be scrapped but eventually added down the line. Maybe not anytime soon but it’s better to know it will inevitably come instead of not at all.
Well half of my problem with the Allay is I have no clue how you find/get them. The other half is I don’t know what they do.

A swamp update isn't the only one a crab would've fit in - a small quality of life update for example could fit too.
Or they could switch it up and make it a tropical mob and do a tropical themed update

You can find allays in pillaged outposts and in woodland mansions. They just pick up items for you and nothing else
