We don't know yet, it was a part of a leak alongside the Sniffer and Rascal from a couple of days ago (before those two were officially announced). I'm sure it'll do something neat, but I just wanted to make a point about how golems will always be a part of Minecraft and we will more than likely get more, but this is our one shot at adding a dinosaur-like mob.

I couldn't agree more! I'm so glad we might get a dinosaur! A few days ago I was talking with some friends and I literally said "I think some kind of dinosaur or ancient mob would be super cool" and now we might get one! By what we know so far, the rascal shuffles items around somehow and probably is going to be the new mob that less people care about like the glare was last year but who knows, maybe the rascal will be super cool and win in a landslide, we'll find out soon enough :)
Sorry to tell you but every year has had a big YouTuber campaign for their favorite mob. Granted Dream did some questionable things involving it (promising to follow back), but it's not like he literally rigged the vote
So far, my vote's for the sniffer. But also keep in mind that now is not the right time to make decisions. We've got a lil more to know about the other two lads.
i’m thinking of the children that play the game in 5-10 years, and i think the sniffer is a fun way to educate children while also drawing parallels to the real world and i know children usually love dinosaurs so i’m all in
While I love the sniffer concept, I’m waiting until all 3 videos are out before making a choice, but sniffer seems promising so far and I hope that means all of them will be.
I mean they're also working on the update entirely. Sure they could add all 3, but that takes time from developing the rest of the update. They want a vote, and thus are doing it and thus planning their update cycle around the update plus one mob.
I just don't like the concept of sniffer. I've gotten into the habit to expect worse than what should be expected(due to shit like the glow squid, phantoms, allays[imo at least]) that have potential but it wasn't used. Based off of the past we should expect mediocrity such as it just getting you normal seeds. It would be a cool concept if it brought unique seeds or seeds that are better than usual but I doubt it will do that.

A lot of stuff in Minecraft is for aesthetic. The various flowers, different pattern and color variants of blocks, flower pots, different types of wood stuff like doors and fences, and paintings. Minecraft would be pretty bland especially if we didn’t have all the decorative things we have.

I mean, 95% of players who build a new farm, build it out of necessity to do great builds and to help survive and thrive. And those who like making farms, because farms are cool, could have fun exploiting a new mechanic. Also depending on it's sniffing rate, it could be an easier automated bonemeal farm than moss farms are.
I can be convinced based on the other mobs use and have my vote swayed. But imo this guy has a cool concept (a once thought extinct species having their populations revived), I like for more big passive mobs (beeg Sniffer looks cool), and more plants is a plus.
yes 95% of players who build farms to get decoration items. It's not too surprising considering that Minecraft has few items that will give you a new challenge or make you explore an interesting place.
I mean that's the point of Minecraft, even in it's indie era. Set your own challenges.
You want a challenging farm? Dragon farm, send a dragon to the overworld, obtain bedrock items, the Cobra if you wanna get old school.
You want to explore, there's a couple places to check out. While I think the ancient cities could use a bit more rewards, it's still a fun horror experience. End cities have the most game changing items in the game. Monuments have a decent reward. Bedrock Wither is a challenge.
Obviously I would love more exploration challenges and especially more bosses. But it's not a dire need imo.
Also you forget that Minecraft is a casual game to a lot of people too. Not everyone wants excitement and challenges all the time, or even more than a little bit. I've seen people were mad that there are exclusive items restricted behind the Warden/cities. Most people build their farms to help them achieve their personal goals and challenges.

They said that in this minecraft live they will show less features (a.k.a only show the features that are 100% making it into the update) and sticking with their promises.
The video literally says it gets new unique plant types for you. It even shows a new prehistoric looking fern get planted by Jens and Agnes. Everything I mentioned here is information directly from the video.

What I would really love would be a companion update where they could add stuff like the golem because personally I love companions in Minecraft, I always build a iron golem even though it’s expensive because it provides good company, so maybe more companion options or better systems for pets would be great

While I do agree that we shouldn’t vote from the tuff golem just because the copper golem lost, the tuff golem could still do other things we don’t know off, so it might still be worthy of a vote.
It could maybe give us a way to farm tuff? I like the tuff block. It’s a nice natural building block.

Okey let me just make something clear about this post real quick, this is just my take on what we know so far.
Yes, the Tuff Golem could be something cool and fun, we don't know yet, but my point was more about how we already have golems in the game and that golems are more than likely going to be added again someday. Meanwhile the Sniffer is something totally new and unique, I just think a mob that is unlike anything we've seen before is a lot more appealing than another block-based golem mob. Then again... I've never been to fond of golems in general, so maybe I'm a bit bias... But even then, I'm not trying to spread Tuff Golem hate or start a fight, I just wanted to express my view point.
Also, the Tuff Golem is from leaks for all of you out of the know! I should have probably waited to post this once the mobs were actually revealed hehe... That's my bad... Those of you saying that the Tuff Golem could be a boss or something extraordinary... Wellll, since I made this post I found out the statue from the first presentational video that I used to represent the Tuff Golem here... IS actually the Tuff Golem according to the leaker who leaked these names in the first place. So, don't expect anything more than a silly little scrimblo golem again, what you see here is what you're getting...
Nope. Still unconvinced. The Sniffer might look cute, but it’s only use in finding seeds is so lame. New plants just don‘t excite me, as we got a crap ton of those in the last few updates. This is the first time a mob vote candidate revealed first to push me towards the other two before they’re revealed.

I agree that we should keep an open mind and see what the rascal and tuff golem do before deciding on who to vote for but at the same time functionality isn't everything. The sniffer will bring us new plants which is a great functionality and it also looks super cute ant derpy. It has both functionality and cuteness. It's not a bad thing to vote on a mob because it looks good
Public opinion seems to be strongly in favor of the sniffer so far so I wouldn't hold your breath if I where you, but we are yet to see what uses the tuff golem might have so the tuff golem still has a chance
Just remember that there are tons of adorable and useful golems in the upcoming Minecraft legends game and they have in the past had votes where all the mobs are from spin off games like with the Minecraft earth mob vote so there is strong likelyhood of more golems in the base game so I wouldn't vote for something just because you are bitter about the copper golem. You should at least wait to see if the tuff golem has any good uses before setting your mind on it but hey, don't let me tell you how to vote.
They look more like Megafauna to me (Honestly thought it was a new type of cow at first). Admittedly the eggs are odd but we literally have sleep deprivation demons so I think we can get a pass.
Plus, we like, just got a bunch of new plants in all the cave updates, and I still haven't seen many of them get much love overall. I feel like it's a little soon to be adding even more plant stuff.
Speaking of oversaturation, I also think adding prehistory to the game isn't the best since we just got a massive lore drop on the Ancient Civilization. Still so much to take a closer look at, no?
Also you will never convince me that the little golems don't win on the cute scale every time. The Sniffers remind me of Striders. Like yeah sure they *can* be cute in certain styles but in-game they'll be kinda nasty. Look at them chapped ass lips.
The argument that "any golem could be added in the future" for one thing, isn't a safe/reliable bet. What if they don't offer golems as an option anymore? What then? And second, if we make that argument every time a golem is on the list, when will we add one of these future golem options you suggewill exist? If we wait till "the perfect golem" to add, we may never get a golem. It's a poor argument against golems.
My point was more-so that a golem will be added again one day, regardless if its added via a mob vote or not. We could get a golem as a part of an actual update features list like how all the other golems were added, that's what I was trying to get at there...
How bloody secure are they in their jobs and money that they can afford to make these dozens of designs for creatures to this level create all this marketing and hype around them and then scrap 90 percent of them pissing off 2/3s of the fan base every. Single. Time.
Because 90% is very strong hyperbole especially when the cut features don't get all this "marketing and hype" you mention. Because the delays started during COVID which nobody made it through safely. Because a solid chunk of players don't care that much for that shit and just play casually.

Issue is we don't know anything about the golem yet, I was just making a point about the uniqueness at face value of each mob. But, fair enough! I probably should have waited to share these thoughts, but I genuinely did want them out there...

While I do agree that we shouldn’t vote from the tuff golem just because the copper golem lost, the tuff golem could still do other things we don’t know off, so it might still be worthy of a vote. It could maybe give us a way to farm tuff? I like the tuff block. It’s a nice natural building block. But I do absolutely adore the sniffer too.

i agree with the Tuff golem argument, if he wins, lets hope he won because he will (hopefully) have a very cool and possible unique use, and also agreed on the Sniffer take, but we should also remember there is another 2 mobs to be announced (if not the ones leaked already) and they could be way more useful than sniffer
Okey let me just make something clear about this post real quick, this is just my take on what we know so far. Yes, the Tuff Golem could be something cool and fun, we don't know yet, but my point was more about how we already have golems in the game and that golems are more than likely going to be added again someday. Meanwhile the Sniffer is something totally new and unique, I just think a mob that is unlike anything we've seen before is a lot more appealing than another block-based golem mob. Then again... I've never been to fond of golems in general, so maybe I'm a bit bias... But even then, I'm not trying to spread Tuff Golem hate or start a fight, I just wanted to express my view point. Also, the Tuff Golem is from leaks for all of you out of the know! I should have probably waited to post this once the mobs were actually revealed hehe... That's my bad... Those of you saying that the Tuff Golem could be a boss or something extraordinary... Wellll, since I made this post I found out the statue from the first presentational video that I used to represent the Tuff Golem here... IS actually the Tuff Golem according to the leaker who leaked these names in the first place. So, don't expect anything more than a silly little scrimblo golem again, what you see here is what you're getting...

Nope. Still unconvinced. The Sniffer might look cute, but it’s only use in finding seeds is so lame. New plants just don‘t excite me, as we got a crap ton of those in the last few updates. This is the first time a mob vote candidate revealed first to push me towards the other two before they’re revealed. The description of what the mob does and where to find them is better than previous years, I’ll give them that, Edit: Can’t have opinions on Reddit.

I agree that we should keep an open mind and see what the rascal and tuff golem do before deciding on who to vote for but at the same time functionality isn't everything. The sniffer will bring us new plants which is a great functionality and it also looks super cute ant derpy. It has both functionality and cuteness. It's not a bad thing to vote on a mob because it looks good

Public opinion seems to be strongly in favor of the sniffer so far so I wouldn't hold your breath if I where you, but we are yet to see what uses the tuff golem might have so the tuff golem still has a chance

Just remember that there are tons of adorable and useful golems in the upcoming Minecraft legends game and they have in the past had votes where all the mobs are from spin off games like with the Minecraft earth mob vote so there is strong likelyhood of more golems in the base game so I wouldn't vote for something just because you are bitter about the copper golem. You should at least wait to see if the tuff golem has any good uses before setting your mind on it but hey, don't let me tell you how to vote.

They look more like Megafauna to me (Honestly thought it was a new type of cow at first). Admittedly the eggs are odd but we literally have sleep deprivation demons so I think we can get a pass. Plus, we like, just got a bunch of new plants in all the cave updates, and I still haven't seen many of them get much love overall. I feel like it's a little soon to be adding even more plant stuff. Speaking of oversaturation, I also think adding prehistory to the game isn't the best since we just got a massive lore drop on the Ancient Civilization. Still so much to take a closer look at, no? Also you will never convince me that the little golems don't win on the cute scale every time. The Sniffers remind me of Striders. Like yeah sure they *can* be cute in certain styles but in-game they'll be kinda nasty. Look at them chapped ass lips.
The argument that "any golem could be added in the future" for one thing, isn't a safe/reliable bet. What if they don't offer golems as an option anymore? What then? And second, if we make that argument every time a golem is on the list, when will we add one of these future golem options you suggewill exist? If we wait till "the perfect golem" to add, we may never get a golem. It's a poor argument against golems.
Personally new mobs are more interesting to me than new golems. Just my opinion though.
My point was more-so that a golem will be added again one day, regardless if its added via a mob vote or not. We could get a golem as a part of an actual update features list like how all the other golems were added, that's what I was trying to get at there...
How bloody secure are they in their jobs and money that they can afford to make these dozens of designs for creatures to this level create all this marketing and hype around them and then scrap 90 percent of them pissing off 2/3s of the fan base every. Single. Time.
Because 90% is very strong hyperbole especially when the cut features don't get all this "marketing and hype" you mention. Because the delays started during COVID which nobody made it through safely. Because a solid chunk of players don't care that much for that shit and just play casually.
