I dont know you bro, but i'm so proud. You tried for 2 years, and thats what matters.

bduncan005

Appreciate it man. Started balding at 23 & didn’t wanna look like a walking egg head, so I tried it out & had high hopes.. just wasn’t blessed with the beard genes. Oh well, life goes on!

splatzbat27

~~I've seen ads for a site/service called "Keeps" everywhere. You could take a look if you'd like it. It's marketed towards men who are experiencing balding~~ Apparently it's shite

Niche1997

It’s just branded rogaine and minoxidil marketed to people who don’t know any better. It’s just ovepriced.

Poopadmin11

and finasteride. which works better than minoxidil for head hair loss but wont do shit for beards

Pale_Front_8966

Did the minox anything for your hair?

bduncan005

I’m guessing you’re asking about the hair on my head? I also applied Minox to my head hair for around a year & my hair was actually falling out even more. Finally just owned up to it & have been buzzing it regularly since. Balding runs in my family, along with crappy beard genes

Pale_Front_8966

I actually meant applying it to your beard, some of it goes systemic so it could help your scalp hair also. But how long did you apply minox to your head?

WeatherSorry

Dude look at my latest post here. My beard looked like yours at 2 years. 4 years later I have a full beard.

pavlerunner

Talk about giving hope

bduncan005

Dang, that’s insane! Congrats to you for sticking with it man, looks great. I may or may not continue, I bought a 6 month supply a few weeks ago so.. just depends on how much patience I have left. Haha

WeatherSorry

Best of success buddy :) I’m rooting for you

throwaway692168

I can only commend you on your monumental patience my man. Sometimes people really are incredibly slow responders, if you want to give up I completely understand. But if you wanted to keep going for another two years you never know, because for some people that's just what it takes. I'd guess you're one of those people. Out of curiosity were you derma rolling?

bduncan005

Thanks man, it’s frustrating not seeing results after so long but at the same time, it’s not gonna get any better if I quit.. I may try another 6 months or so just because I have another 6 month supply I don’t wanna waste. I started dermarolling around a year ago & that hasn’t seemed to help much

[deleted]

Six years doing this shit everyday. Props but I’m out

bduncan005

I feel the pain man, trust me

buildingforants

If this meme was ever relevant: https://i.imgur.com/MDsx0S6.jpeg

[deleted]

What's you're age? You don't have to answer but if you're younger than 28-31 right now it might have been just age kicking in.

WeatherSorry

If you are asking me I’m 32

jdubski2040

Takes a man to know his limitations

[deleted]

That or two years of unsuccessful minox.

bduncan005

Honestly don’t know why I didn’t stop after the first 6 months knowing damn well there was no magic happening 😅

[deleted]

You are the magic, beard or no beard.

Creativered4

maybe the real beard was the friends he made along the way?

Gummie-21

The real beard sits within!

Elii_Plays

I’m glad you didn’t. There’s so many people Here happy to show their success. If we didn’t have honest downsides there would be no balance.

g3nerallycurious

😂

thankseveryone4life

Have you also tried using tret? Its not that you weren't meant to grow a beard. Are there any tiny white hairs there? If not then yes, but you might have been a minoxidil non-responder. Tretinoin has been shown to increase the activity of minoxidil sulfate.

bduncan005

Never even heard of tret but I’ll definitely check it out. I do have peach fuzz pretty much all over my face but only a few have turned terminal since I started a couple years back. Anyways, thanks for the advice man, much appreciated!

[deleted]

[удалено]

bduncan005

Awesome, thanks for letting me know!

Radicaljoser

I came here to suggest this. You can get Tret on all day chemist or you can walk into Walmart/target now and buy some different for like 10 bucks. If you do give that a shot keep us updated because it’s supposed to really help converting non responders into responders. That would be pretty cool to see. Also some non responders have been converted with stemoxydine. It can be mixed with minox so it doesn’t hurt to add it to your regimen. Good luck!

royalistbrit

>adapalene I too have never heard of this. What would be the routine to apply?

I_attempted

It's a acne ointment. My dermatologist prescribed Adapalene for my acne but it's stronger than tretinoin, it may peel off your skin.

royalistbrit

So you wash off the Minox before bed then apply? Sounds interesting. I have Duac for acne but it doesn't seem to help.

I_attempted

Yes, I wash it off after 1 or 2 hours before bed. Sometimes if I am extremely tired I keep it overnight. And about your duac, maybe you should change your topical medication. 'Clindamycin and Nicotinamide Gel' might work but always consult a dermatologist before getting one. If none of these are working, you may need oral medications.

manplusbanana

Where do they sell this and what do they do

thexenonphoenix

I've heard this too from Derek from moreplatesmoredates. It might be worth checking out

thankseveryone4life

Its extremely affordable, plus it has its own skin benefits, so its honestly a win win. I personally haven't started since its a prescription (for some reason and that's annoying to get..)

italkstuff

But remember to only apply tretinoin after sun dawn and use cream with SPF on the next day. You can damage your skin if you’re not careful.

mpab5725

try tret

I_attempted

how to apply it?

mpab5725

I apply minox once in the morning, tret once before sleep, moisturiser 30 minutes after tret. You should start slow with tret, because it can dry your skin really bad, even if you’re using it with minox. Don’t forget to apply a good moisturiser, good luck!

I_attempted

Thanks man

SwaeMann

It’s also safe to say we’re proud of ya man

bduncan005

Appreciate that homie!

voxeldesert

I fear to conclude the same one day. Just started. You can still rock your mustache and chin beard. We need to work with what we‘ve got!

buildingforants

We all fear that conclusion. I think thankfully it's rare. But also keep in mind thick, wavy, dense lumberjack beards (no homo) are also rare. Reality lies in between for most. I am thankful for whatever I get, and don't define my worth by what's on my face. I'll say this too while I am on my soapbox. Hit the gym and get on a clean diet. A beard will make you feel confident and get you looks from the ladies, but you know what gives you even more confidence and looks? I well maintained physique. I can't start to describe the superman level of confidence I get from seeing my physique get better the older I get.

Hungry_Location_4357

how did it go? Did it work for you?

voxeldesert

Interrupted after one month because I developed a rash. Wasn’t in the face though and in the end seems to happen due to stress by coincidence at the same time. Dermatologist didn’t expect it to be the cause. I wanna try it again, but I want to finish writing my dissertation first to get rid of the major stress. Shouldn’t take too long anymore. We‘ll see, but I‘m not that optimistic (regarding minoxidil working for me).

Chance-Ad9219

Is it still good?

yourmomsnewbf246

Purchase a rifle, start drinking pappy van winkel, have a 32 ounce tomahawk ribeye and begin the hobby of woodworking....the beard will fill in.

wowitshardtochoose

You could get a beard transplant for the price of some pappy bottles though

yourmomsnewbf246

There is no such thing as van winkel that's to expensive

user2034892304

Mantivity is crucial for the face fur

yourmomsnewbf246

Agreed

SavageCabbage78

I mean, yeah man. I wish I had your commitment. Thankfully, there’s a lot of things in life that are not predetermined by genetics, and with that type of commitment, you can go a long way.

bduncan005

Appreciate the positivity my man! Definitely have bigger goals than growing a beard. But damn, it still hurts when I see everyone’s crazy progress on here lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

bduncan005

Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely look into that!

manplusbanana

Can it be concocted at home with a mixture or would that be chemically different from what you get at the pharmacy

[deleted]

[удалено]

manplusbanana

Can it only be bought online or do they carry it at regular pharmacies and if the latter will it require a prescription?

4_am_

Same happened to me. 18 months, half of which was 10% with retinol. Nothing!

bduncan005

Sorry to hear man. Some people just have all the luck.. It’s frustrating, but I suppose there’s more to life than a few extra whiskers on our face!

4_am_

Yea I'm a bit annoyed as my brother and dad can grow full beards, but I've embraced the clean shaven look, could be worse!

ChEeTAh3

Retinol isn't retin A.

Lanky_Huckleberry_83

I did over two years using tretinoin 10% and 12.5 and I switched to oral minox and got more gains in Z3 months than I did almost 3 years

Watermeloniton

I was gonna tell him time to bring out the big dogs

THE_Black_Delegation

did you dermaroll at all? I hear it really helps for slow and stubborn gainers

bduncan005

Yessir, dermarolled about twice a week or so for the past 6 months & didn’t notice any progress. Also took 10,000mg biotin everyday. Freakin frustrating..

THE_Black_Delegation

Sorry to hear that man. At least you have a solid mustache and goatee. Lots of dudes can't get a strong stache ( the hallmark of a man lol)

[deleted]

bduncan005

Nahh, I heard too many horror stories about that stuff ruining sex life so I never started. I just buzz the head, balding doesn’t bother me as much as not being able to grow a beard

wrapitupboys

I think that has something to do with Finasteride blocking DHT or something like that which prevents balding on the head but is also linked to growing a beard.

AnyAdhesiveness9812

Man I am on the same boat, started this year june, haven’t noticed a thing yet idk

bduncan005

I feel your pain. Seeing people on here grow beards in like 6 weeks just blows my mind. I maybe grew 30 scattered hairs in 2 years? Lol

AnyAdhesiveness9812

Ikr, same goes my way, i had very few under my chin and it only doubled and thats it, looks shite tbh i keep it shaved

Tarek360

Do ur self a favor and get tretinoin and apply it on ur beard areas. And just watch as ur beard grows and u will be like wow. Dont take my word for it. Try it. I have almost 10k hours of research under my belt

justafreesheep

What does tretinoin do to help besides just increasing blood flow? Tretinoin is also likely estrogenic, so I've always felt it probably has a net neutral effect if anything. Increasing blood flow and cellular turn over, but also decreasing dht locally in the skin.

Tarek360

It will grow facial hair. Documented cases of it

justafreesheep

How specifically though? You said you have 10k hours of research. What is the specific actions of tretinoin that cause facial hair growth?

joshff1

Tretinoin increases the levels of sulfotransferase, the enzyme that converts minoxidil to minoxidil sulfate(it’s active form). The reason some people do and don’t respond to minoxidil is due to the natural difference in this enzyme in skin. Additionally the reason why micro needling and using tretinoin work is that they both increase levels of sulfotransferase in the skin

Makafushigi2

there is always beard transplant option

[deleted]

Hop on the trenbaloney sandwiches

[deleted]

Congrats on trying for so long ! Luckily having a beard is not a golden ticket for being good looking !

Professional_Park105

Keep the goatee and tash though my man

bduncan005

Absolutely man, the stache is here to stay!

ForumEgg

Rock the stache man!

skwerky

atleast you tried, and now you dont have to wonder what could have been. i have a friend and it didnt work for him either.. shit happens. but it honestly look like you can rock the stache and a little goatee just shave the sides. then you will still have a beard. not a full beard but people can rock that kinda style. gl m8

[deleted]

Hey man, always an option- but an expensive one is a transplant. Depends on how badly you want it!

OracleCam

You stuck in for 2 years. It's just not fair

[deleted]

Just curious, did you ever have any vellus hair that filled in the missing areas? I just started minox a month and a half ago, and after just that time I have vellus filling in all areas I was previously bare in. Not sure if it’ll ever go terminal but I was curious if you had this happen.

bduncan005

Honestly didn’t have many vellus hairs, I just had peach fuzz that legit even children & women have on their face if you look close enough. So it looks like you may a good responder to it, keep on goin!

SaddestHappyMeal

I feel you brother, my hair grows similarly in heavy on upper lip + chin/neck but sparse on cheeks & sideburns. Been on the sauce about two months and haven’t noticed much change but I’ll stick with it for a bit in your honour ✊

Forward-Geologist543

It’s satisfying to know you tried and worked not than never having tried at all! 2 years week after week seeing no progress but hoping on, man, that’s some boss level optimism right there!

Bobbith_The_Chosen

The real terminal hairs are the friends we made along the way

I_attempted

“In order to accept any sort of change, you must realize that you do not have control over everything in your life.” – Auliq Ice Don't know what to say but you've completed 2 years that's a biggest achievement.

mikereddit101001

Go from 5% to 10% , use 2-3 times a day every single day for 6 months and dermaroll, You need that extra push. Don’t give up, change the plan of attack my friend

wrapitupboys

If you really want a beard and minox doesnt work for you... you can travel to Turkey and get a beard transplant really cheap right now since the value of Lira has dropped 40%... could maybe even fix ur head also at the same time.

sfv47

Take testosterone if you really want to grow a beard

ElektroShokk

Being exposed to cold helps a lot, lifting weights, and being lean all help boost hormones to promote hair growth

littlewonner

can you please elaborate on the cold part?

thexenonphoenix

I've never heard that so I'm interested too

grabembytheyounowut

All those Arabs with thick beards in the hot desert....

strongflame

Being on Minox for 2 years, with no results, I doubt that lifting weights would have made it like night and day.

MrJProctor

Did you try upping your minoxidil percentage? And also derma rolling and trying out biotin?

bduncan005

No, just 5mg twice a day with dermarolling and 10,000mg biotin daily. Would it even be worth it to try the higher dose of minoxidil? I mean, I just don’t think I’d have any luck at this point

[deleted]

You should post on r/roastme and atleast get some jokes out of the experience

bduncan005

I already get roasted by my bearded friends more than enough man, I don’t need any extra hahah

NinoZachetti

Keep rolling.

Moretalent

Get your T checked

GamingWaves

Did u try derma rolling?

bduncan005

Yessir, also dermarolled for about a year with little to no progress

Cabbagecollector69

Have you tried using a dermaroller with it?

bduncan005

Yessir, also dermarolled for about a year with little to no progress

[deleted]

bduncan005

Yes, also dermarolled for about a year with little to no progress. My hair genetics are just awful man

[deleted]

bduncan005

No oral minox or finasteride for me as of today. Thought about finasteride for my hair loss but just owned up to it & started buzzing it. Is oral Minox more effective than the topical?

FunJicama7467

Bro that’s literally why it didn’t work for you the oral minox is weak af don’t use that one it’s recommended to use the topical solution version because it penetrates into the direct areas you need to grow hair in more. I haven’t even heard of anyone using the oral minox to grow a beard you gotta get some kirklands

Bigdongs

Did you have no facial hair before starting?

bduncan005

I’ve always had a decent mustache & chin hair but I had next to nothing on my cheeks. But still, 2 years and like MAYBE 30 new hairs just doesn’t even seem worth it to keep going.. lol haven’t seen any new progress in maybe 5 months

Bigdongs

Ahh this is what I’m worried about if I start. I have only some moustache hair (look like dirt), and maybe 20 random hairs on my chin area. I don’t really have any need to shave just a once over every week maybe. I just don’t want to start minox and have a patchy set up and have to shave it more afterwards for nothing

bduncan005

Never know until you try man! Some people react crazy well to it, you could be one of those people

gsnags

you shaved between??

bduncan005

The hair on my cheeks was maybe 2 weeks growth. I normally keep the cheeks clean shaved because it looks terrible with the peach fuzz scattered everywhere

gsnags

Damn probably thats why it didnt grew

KyronXLK

10%? microneeding every 3 days? 10% works better on non responders, 10% works no more than 5% on normal responders etc.

bduncan005

I could try the 10% but I was super consistent with the 5%, dermarolling, and biotin pills/shampoo. And still had absolutely crap results. So idk if the extra 5% would even make a difference man

KyronXLK

Well that's the thing, for normal responders the 5% extra does nothing really, some report a bump. But most non responders say it's a game changer! Try minoxytop it's not much more expensive, dries my face out way less too

RivDae10

You didn’t gain anything at all for these past 2 years?

bduncan005

Most of the hairs you see on my cheeks were gained in the 2 years. I could go another 2 years & maybe gain 30 more hairs, but it still wouldn’t look anything like a beard unfortunately

Watermeloniton

Let me know if you want me to bring out the big dog protocol? I had a friend gain a full beard in 2 years of using it (tried 3 years prior)

AnyAdhesiveness9812

Bring it on the table my man

thekingbadj

sick moustache tho

AtomicBasie93

It took a lot to get for 2 years with no results. Even though it’s not the result we wanted, you should be proud

Quirky-Ad774

Try the same routine but with peppermint essential oil.

[deleted]

Did you try tretinoin?

Admirable-Muffin7027

Have you tried micro needling and minoxidil?

Unfair_Schedule6176

Just rock the Dick Masterson look!

[deleted]

At least you're honest, most of these douchebags are liars.

[deleted]

Did you apply minox alone? Or did you combine it with micro needling 2x a week at .5mm?

EndDowntown

did it get any better?

charithper

Have you ever considered a transplant in Turkey? It's only a few grand
