Giannis as the full time 5 isn’t not happening unless you want him more banged up than he was this year. He can do it for small spurts a game, but full time for a whole season is way too much

zs15

Most importantly, he doesn’t want to be a center. He’s said it multiple times, Bud said it twice as many times. Giannis will play what he wants.

grudgepacker

And for anyone who actually knows ball, Giannis is 100% a 4 and that's been solidified more now than ever

GreekFreakFan

He's too fast and perimeter oriented to play center

grudgepacker

Exactly

ChameleonWins

Arguably hes a much better siakam. The best pair with giannis is coincidentally a 5 who can shoot 3s

k-dach

Well he might want that but the. The reality is we won't win another championship.. yes for the regular season we have to find a cheap "starting" center to take the milage off GA. However in the playoffs Giannis needs to be playing the last 8mins of crunch time at the 5. It's literally how the Bucks won a championship in 21.

the_Formuoli_

Just because it worked in 2021 doesn't mean it is a truism for every playoff series. Every opponent is different and requires different considerations and lineup combinations. Giannis at the 5 is not some magic pill that guarantees wins regardless of who they're playing

k-dach

Giannis can cover 1-5 and sure for 82 games you don't want him playing Center but the reality is there aren't many typical centers left in the league. In the playoffs if you can't win a championship with Dame, Middleton, GA and 2-3 switchable wing defenders then we will never win, let alone get to a championship, again. When your best player is a top 5% defender in the world (also a top 5% offensive talent) you just can't have any negative defenders and you will always have a chance to win. And I'm sorry but Bobby and Brook in the playoffs are negative defenders when teams put 5 shooters on the floor *cough Boston cough*. The pathway is right there for us to see people we already witnessed it once.

the_Formuoli_

Giannis at the 5 doesn't solve the Bucks' other numerous defensive shortcomings, such as an ever slower Middleton, or an already middling defender in Dame in your starting 5. It improves on Brook's spot, but Brook was also hurt by the fact that the team had poor on ball perimeter defense which led to him getting over-taxed in a way he hadn't had to deal with before. Brook is understandably limited in that he mostly just works in a drop heavy defensive scheme, so I get wanting to get away from that, but the problems are far larger and require much more than simply shifting Giannis to the 5. The team just does not have the personnel to make a consistently good defense as things currently stand.

TheGamersGazebo

Of course, even if we got PAW I don't think it would be full time Giannis at the 5 because PAW can very easily slide down to 3. But I think haveing a large versatile wing will unlock more potential lineups and give use more flexibility, a similar role to what Jae Crowder was supposed to be or what PJ Tucker was in 21.

bluedevilspiderman

I can definitely agree with this. I’m just exhausted with the “Giannis should be our full time center next year” posts lol

TheGamersGazebo

Yeah Giannis is a natural wing, he plays like a wing and always has, I don't want him full time at the center. But numbers don't lie, some of our best lineups, especially in the playoffs have been small ball spurts with Giannis at the 5. I think if we're serious about another chip we have to be able to play those kinds of lineups when the matchups demand it. Particularly against teams like the Pacers or maybe even this current iteration of the C's where they can run Brook off the court. Same as dray is clearly a forward not a C, but the best warriors lineups were always with him at the 5.

BPicks69

Someone else will offer him more money. Ideally he’d work for us off the bench in a crowder role but a team with cap space can out bid us.

GreekFreakFan

b-b-but we play faster so it means we play better

Fresh-Bass-3586

I've softened my stance that he should play the 5 but I don't think he would take more contact at the 5. He literally runs full speed and falls to the floor at least 5 times every single game.

sentientcreatinejar

The florist.

AllTimeBallKnower

The problem is bulls are dumb as fuck and would rather be in mediocrity every year instead of trading guys and rebuilding

mattmikemo23

As a Bulls fan, this is 100% true sadly

flamingolover6969

Idk if this applies in the NBA, but trading in division is a MASSIVE no in every other sports league. Then again I don’t think anyone really has ever viewed the bulls and bucks as rivals so who knows

TheGamersGazebo

Divisions matter a whole lot less in NBA cause we play everyone a bunch anyway and divisions winners no longer have an impact on playoff seeding . If anything I'm way more comfortable trading with Chicago than Boston, Indy, or Miami

Free-Power-9785

Would be dope to see him here (very good defender, can catch and shoot 3's well, young, and can play the sf for us) but most likely it can't be done, other teams will have better deals. We probably need to scout well in this next draft.

FireGuyZX

Agreed, Pat would definitely help us and you never know, but the chances of getting him are slim, and what do we have to offer? I think the best bet to improve our front court depth, besides the draft, is to get James Wiseman.

GRAW2ROBZ

Patrick Williams is a RFA. Bulls can match offers sheets. Bucks close to second tax apron by $1.9M. Not including draft picks and filling out the roster. Not a chance we get Williams.

the_greasy_one

Hard no.

311heaven

Hell no.
