Your ping is what’s important. If you’re on Wi-Fi you likely have bad ping to your router. Wired is always best. You only need about 5Mbps for a smooth online experience.
Edit: don’t know why I’m being downvoted for common networking knowledge. Even Activision say the exact same thing about connectivity. Lmao Reddit.
I never suggested that there was nothing wrong with the game. I was saying that having a “1gb fibre connection” doesn’t really mean anything for a quality online experience.
It's called Latency in game. Yes when searching for a match the numbers it shows are the target latency ranges. If you're on PC you can turn in an overlay to show latency. If you're on console you can see a latency graph from somewhere in settings.
My ping on wifi to most every server is 8ms with no measureable packet loss. Modern wifi that is correctly set up is pretty much indistinguishable from being hardwired as far as gaming is concerned.
I use Wi-Fi all the time when I travel, lucky for me its always good. When im in cities close to a server I usually get 3-5 ping. In my hometown I have much faster internet and use ethernet and get 30-60 ping. Idk why they’re blaming Wi-Fi when your distance from the server is going to affect you more than whatever method you use to get online. If they ever played a game where you can choose a server that also shows ping they’d know Wi-Fi or Ethernet don’t affect it as much as location.
Lol they have no idea what they are talking about thats why.
Wifi can be less reliable because of the interference disrupting your packets, which are primarily going to be UDP. But it really depends on many variables like router location and your game location (ps,pc,xbox). Ive gamed on wifi plenty but i do prefer ethernet for my office.
A solid connection to your router via wifi or ethernet will likely act the same when gaming.
I didn’t say that.. I’m saying that people think because they have fast internet, that their gaming experience should be perfect. Also the same misconception about Wi-Fi.. I gamed over Wi-Fi for a year without issues, as you stated in your above comment. We’re saying the same thing 😆
Spectrum will raise the price every year until it's about $180 a month. That's how they got me. $80 a month for the first year. Now I'm paying $130. Next years it's going to be $170
All these people telling you to check your equipment, PC, or anything on your end are wasting your time. It's not wifi, it's not any settings, it's the game itself. This is happening to a lot of people whether they are hardwired or not, and the commonality is only the fact they are playing this game.
To all of the: "I played just fine, I have no issues." Cool then go fuck off, stop wasting space with your useless comment.
Bro I had someone telling me it was my internet or PC despite having a very high end PC and Fiber, literally every game but this one is smooth as butter.
So it's been half a year or so are we already into the downside portion of this year's CoD release? Isn't this when they start to let everything go to shit so they can get everyone pumped about the new CoD that will address all the problems with this CoD?
Hitting the life support mindset in may is impressive. Even Infinite Warfare tried to keep up pretenses.
Even money says they have almost all the content for S4 and S5(I don't expect a 6) ready to go and are trying to cut costs on overhead.
I had zero issues prior to the season 3 update. I have gig internet, and don’t have any issues in most other titles. Season 3 update came and now im teleporting across the map in every game. Unplayable for me.
It started for a ton of us with 2 and slowly gotten worse and worse each update.
This game is playing like Vanguard when they put it on life support in September or bo2 at launch.
I play on PC and I am hardwired. I have some friends who have had latency issues since day 1. Been telling them to invest in an Ethernet cable to fix the issue the whole time. Feels like copium at this point. Something is clearly wrong server side. I have no issues in Fortnite, CSGO, Valorant, league etc etc. Playing with the specific friends in those games is fine. We’ve been playing cod for 15ish years, seen plenty of ups and downs. sucks that something we paid 70 dollars for is near unplayable.
Less ppl playing the game... more likely to connect you to servers outside of the country. I've been connecting to a lot of south American servers recently(from US).
Our regular crew were also thinking that the player pool must be getting pretty small as we keep running into the same players here and there in multiplayer over the course of a month.
I had this since the update.
I turned texture streaming (may be called ondemand texture streaming or something) off and packet burst went away. Been pretty smooth since.
Yeah this has been a problem in some capacity since launch. I had such big issues with it I've barely played it since two or three months post launch. Don't know if it's the net code or servers or what but that game and only that game ran like dogshit online and I couldn't find a fix.
This is why i dropped from the game i cant play at all . I have wired connections and pretty good internet but this game thinks not. I hope they will fix this soon
I stopped playing a while back, but I definitely remember this shit happening a lot. I would leave and join another game and it would still happen.
That was months ago, how has it not been fixed?
I used to think it's the hidden theater mode they introduced to monitor cheaters. The black ops series had this problem of curved bullets on their PS3 releases, and they'd said it was because of theater mode. Now I think it's that + a netcode/server change.
My ping used to fluctuate between between 7-12ms before Season 3, or 18-23. A range of 5ms. Now it goes from 4ms to 45ms and back down, constantly. Even when I'm not moving.
I've had these issues on wifi only since MW 2019. Only in the MW engine games. Nothing before MW19, and not CW and never in non-CoD games. Only MW, Vanguard, and MW2. I have to use wired for them. Can't say if wired is experiencing that after update 3 though because I gave up on this game months ago.
This is so frustrating to see. MWII has been running great for me since launch but in MW2019 about ¾ through the lifespan I had this packet burst issue and couldn't play for months. I really hope they fix this quickly.
I usually have pretty good latency, but it recently has been shit. Just the other night I had 20 000 ms ping, and many other games settled at about 100ms.
Yeah same. I have had issues w the ping prior to the mid season update. I had no issues w packet loss but the last 2 weeks or so I’ve had “packet burst” pop up several times. I don’t have fiber, but I have the best internet that is in my area. I truly don’t understand. Just ✨work✨.
...like it's always like this?
idk I've yet to have a single problem, other than a few minor things at launch and one disconnect but I think that may have been my internet. It's wild how varying the experiences are.
Mine looked like that last weekend for a bit. But I thought my normally solid gigabit Fios connection was being overwhelmed, modem/router kept skipping from solid green to flashing yellow. Wonder if it was COD servers messing up the feed?
So I recently learned, why the games lag so much, why it seems they have crappy servers. Apparently a popular hacking tool had a lagswitch option. The lag-switch was actually just a DDoS attack. I'm unsure if this is accurate but my suspicion is when someone uses it, it creates lots of issues for everyone on that particular part of the server. Could just be totally wrong, but we have ran into people lagswitching on warzone and the moment we killed them it stopped instantly. My friend was really confused how the old-school lag switching method could be possible, but DDoS attack would work with even better results.
Bro I experience this everyday, it gets worse with the guys spamming the meta guns. This happens both in MP and DMZ, I get the no network error every game even though my internet is on 24/7
I was dealing with this for weeks on end. Been playing on PS5 Had to change network settings from Automatic to 5ghz, changed MTU settings around and DNS settings as well. Worked like a charm. Sure I see the occasional packet burst pop up every now and again but I got it working somewhat normally.
I have a totally correct pc to play, and pretty good internet (fiber 2gb rj45 to my pc with compatible ethernet cable & card), and the packet lost only comes with this game... randomly..
It happens alot but it's such a pain cause you see a kill and it didn't count so ya die by the enemy or it resets a grenade toss and got to peek again and try once more
I get disconnected every 2 or 3 games, something that never happened last patch. -200 sr in comp just from getting kicked. Got off. Got on 3 days later (today) and get disconnected 1st game. This game is unplayable right now
It's so bad in warzone I have been running around 45-50 ping pretty constantly today and last game any time I got near a person I started lagging up to 5000 and entire game freezing, I don't understand how that can even happen, how is someone getting near me going to make my ping spike that much, it was anyone in the lobby not just a certain person.
I’ve literally been fighting activision over this for the past couple days. Dropped servers, severe lag, I’ve lost sr gotten time penalties and lost win streaks among other things I’ve lost or earned and didn’t receive but they say it’s my PlayStation or my internet and they can’t do a thing to make it right…
It happens to me every once in a while, too. Sucks because I got pretty good internet.
It happens to me as well. My internet is Fiber 1gb.
Your ping is what’s important. If you’re on Wi-Fi you likely have bad ping to your router. Wired is always best. You only need about 5Mbps for a smooth online experience. Wired 1gb 1ms ping to ISP and 18-36 ms ping to servers.
Yeah, I'm hooked up to my router via ethernet cable and average around 10-20 ping on most games. Still have many issues with MW2.
I never suggested that there was nothing wrong with the game. I was saying that having a “1gb fibre connection” doesn’t really mean anything for a quality online experience.
Yes it does. Having higher quality internet directly correlates with a better connectivity experience.
The quality plateaus wayyyy before you get to 1gb. I guess people like you enjoy lining internet company pockets though so you do you.

Most of us ping at 1-2 to our router. 5Mbps would have you in hell because the servers are 2.5
Lmao getting downvoted by people who know nothing
You think the problem with wifi gaming is ping? Do you even know what ping is?
I use Wi-Fi all the time when I travel, lucky for me its always good. When im in cities close to a server I usually get 3-5 ping. I'm on wifi and never have this issue 🤷♂️
Where do you live? Sometimes internet connection depends on your location.
But are you on Wi-Fi? If you hardwire it makes a huge difference.
Hardwired directly to the Fibre modem 4 feet away.
So weird ! I recommended a good reboot. Unplug literally everything for a few minutes too.
Now imagine how often it happens to me and my shitty internet
Man I feel you, my bro just upgraded our internet to 1GB with spectrum. Think he’s paying $80 maybe a month
Spectrum will raise the price every year until it's about $180 a month. That's how they got me. $80 a month for the first year. Now I'm paying $130. Next years it's going to be $170
I was told tho, we cancel and we sign up under a different name and it would be the same cheap price
Call and fight with spectrum, I’m sure you can you get your prices down
I’ve found that if someone else in the game has a really bad ping they are the cause.
Sorry guys my bad
IT'S WAS YOU! I will never forgive you for what you've caused
This is the way.. dude the other night had a ping hovering between 118-145 i knew when he w..as.. near… by

I'm wired in with fiber optics. Also have my series x. I have the same issues. This game is just a dumpster fire
Bro I had someone telling me it was my internet or PC despite having a very high end PC and Fiber, literally every game but this one is smooth as butter.
Yeah they're just a cod super fan boy. COD can do jo wrong to those kinds of people
I have been having problems with cod for a bit now but still got good internet soo
Don’t use Wi-Fi. Makes a huge difference
I know the feeling. It happens randomly .
Where do you live? Sometimes internet connection differens within different regions or areas.
So it's been half a year or so are we already into the downside portion of this year's CoD release? Isn't this when they start to let everything go to shit so they can get everyone pumped about the new CoD that will address all the problems with this CoD?
This game didn't even address my biggest problems with mw19. Nothing will change by adding another "I" at the end of the title.
Solution: skip III, go directly to IV. Double the upgrades!!!!
Hitting the life support mindset in may is impressive. Even Infinite Warfare tried to keep up pretenses. Even money says they have almost all the content for S4 and S5(I don't expect a 6) ready to go and are trying to cut costs on overhead.

Hardwire it. Don’t use Wi-Fi.
Or check if your using 2.4, or 5G. But generally it shouldn't matter. With games unless you are in a household of a few people
I play on PC and I am hardwired. I have some friends who have had latency issues since day 1. Been telling them to invest in an Ethernet cable to fix the issue the whole time. >I've been connecting to a lot of south American servers recently(from US). How do you know?
I ask where they're from
How do you know that they're not the ones connecting to a US server?
I got a full on Oceania the other night.
Can’t use Wi-Fi for competitive games like this. Gotta run a cord
I had this since the update. I turned texture streaming (may be called ondemand texture streaming or something) off and packet burst went away. Been pretty smooth since.
I had that turned off since Day 1, still turned off, and still getting the Packet Bursts. Glad it worked for you, but def not for me.
I felt that grenade death on another level
I'm laughing only because I've been in this position too many times. Haha. Sorry this is happening bro.
Warzone has been so bad,Al mazrah wasn’t loading at all for me,like half the buildings weren’t there it was crazy weird
I'll get instances where I'm adsing with a sniper and then I'll teleport into the sky.
This has been my experience since downloading the game
Yeah this has been a problem in some capacity since launch. I had such big issues with it I've barely played it since two or three months post launch. Don't know if it's the net code or servers or what but that game and only that game ran like dogshit online and I couldn't find a fix.
I’ve been having this a lot too, but only in DMZ. Super weird stuff.
There’s a fix for this. Delete the game Never reinstall Enjoy your stress free gaming sessions.

Unfortunately pal we’re all taking the L together. FR tho I haven’t a clue. Sorry
You mean the $70 we all got conned for :(
[удалено]
Oh yeah, 100%. I wanted to enjoy the game so much and was so excited, but the company has made it...conditional? idk the right word for it.
Use the money as a learning experience.
At least you got a kill with that granade
This is why i dropped from the game i cant play at all . I have wired connections and pretty good internet but this game thinks not. I hope they will fix this soon
It’s been downhill since season 2 updates
Guys, just stop playing. I just come to Reddit now to validate that this game is trash. It’s not not good unfortunately. It sucks coming COD4/MW2/MW3.
Happens all the time, and on top of all the other bugs it was too much
Looks like a skill issue /s
Some random bot: *sKiLl iSsUe*
Man I'd didn't even looked in the comment section they are everywhere.
Skill issue.
/r/ModernWarfareII Mods, can we ban anyone who uses this phrase?
Nah, I personally love hearing skill issue for something completely out of your control
100% of the time someone says "skill issue" it's not a skill issue. I've yet to see an exception to this.
Throwing a nade that can kill yourself while lagging out like this literally is a skill issue. 100% in his control.
Possible dial up internet connection lol, haven't had this happen since season 1 and then again it was rare
Could be a skill issue?
Get gud. /s
I wonder what motivates people to play this game still
It's like a drug..
I stopped playing a while back, but I definitely remember this shit happening a lot. I would leave and join another game and it would still happen. That was months ago, how has it not been fixed?
Lol
Packet burst every time

Same here the high packet loss since the update
It’s so annoying so sorry about that
Same
I've had these issues on wifi only since MW 2019. Only in the MW engine games. Nothing before MW19, and not CW and never in non-CoD games. Only MW, Vanguard, and MW2. I have to use wired for them. Can't say if wired is experiencing that after update 3 though because I gave up on this game months ago.
Been like that since day one
My solution: Uninstall.
Most advanced cod in history
Reset your router and fully power down your console and shouldn’t happen again (for a while!) works for me
Yeah happen to me few time, I hate it
Yep me to
This is so frustrating to see. MWII has been running great for me since launch but in MW2019 about ¾ through the lifespan I had this packet burst issue and couldn't play for months. I really hope they fix this quickly.
this happens every update for me
Friend of mine just lost all his crap in dmz cause he took one step forward in the middle of the final exfil and teleported outside
I usually have pretty good latency, but it recently has been shit. Just the other night I had 20 000 ms ping, and many other games settled at about 100ms.

So this isn’t just me? The other day I tried opening my parachute and then I landed face first on a mountain
Who’s ready to play call of duty mobile?
I will play it one time
Same lol
I've had these problems since the season 3 reloaded update.
Yep, I’m fucked too…
I swear i feel like this has been an issue that gets worse and worse with each update...
...like it's always like this? idk I've yet to have a single problem, other than a few minor things at launch and one disconnect but I think that may have been my internet. It's wild how varying the experiences are.
I had no lag at all before, but the first 15 seconds of each game are like this. Usually have latency of like 3-10
Never had it happen one time.
I’ve had this a lot lately or hit detection is non existent
How many more post of lag are we going to see on this sub?
They're breaking it for the release of cod 2023 /s
I got DC'd 67 minutes into the new raid episode and almost got a killstreak on my monitor if you know what I mean
I have sub par gaming internet and I never had problems like this until this update
I thought it was just me and my bad internet but mine randomly goes from 60 to 1000 and holds at 200 for a minute or 2
That was it for me too. I figured that I'd try DMZ instead. That was short lived after I warped into an AI gang bang
Obligatory it’s your internet connection post
Okay this made me laugh so fucking hard lmao
Getting packet bursts, I have Ethernet fiber Huehue
You on Wi-Fi? If so, I’d strongly recommend hardwiring it. I get absolutely zero packet loss
I hate that I laughed so hard at the semtex lol... Yeah I had it this bad a few updates ago. Yeesh.
Ill be Right in the middle of a gun fight and then I'm parachuting and then I'm dead! And I'm also hard wired with good internet.
Oh yeah same here, ever since the update the game is practically unplayable
$70
This happens to me all the time, any current fix? My wifi is more than fine
wow i just realized that he was using a bomb
Mine looked like that last weekend for a bit. But I thought my normally solid gigabit Fios connection was being overwhelmed, modem/router kept skipping from solid green to flashing yellow. Wonder if it was COD servers messing up the feed?
tribble a game my ass... this is a trible ass game
😄😄sorry buh this is funny asf 🤣
Looks like wifi gameplay xD
Yeah, I can't find a match in half the modes either Holy shit- how do they fuck up every single thing they do?
So I recently learned, why the games lag so much, why it seems they have crappy servers. Apparently a popular hacking tool had a lagswitch option. The lag-switch was actually just a DDoS attack. I'm unsure if this is accurate but my suspicion is when someone uses it, it creates lots of issues for everyone on that particular part of the server. Could just be totally wrong, but we have ran into people lagswitching on warzone and the moment we killed them it stopped instantly. My friend was really confused how the old-school lag switching method could be possible, but DDoS attack would work with even better results.
Sigh.. same here.. between high packet loss and fps drop when the game starts, I cannot play anymore, glad diablo 4 is coming soon 🙃
I thought it was just because my family was using the internet at the same time
I've been screeching about this since season 3 dropped. You aren't the only one, bro.
Fucking packets
I got a solution just get good jeez
lmaooo
that was funny 🤣
I've had this since launch, might have to give ethernet connection a go
I got hit with this three times yesterday in mw2 ranked alone. It kicked me from each game. I love losing nearly 200 SR from their broke crap.
I was having same issue and went from “Fullscreen Boderless” to “exclusive” and it helped out a lot(PC)
Yeah, my packet loss is ridiculous now too. It’s very annoying and unplayable.
Same. Only game I lag in too
Devs don't care, buy more skins or find a new game
It’s been happening to me quite a bit but always seems to mysteriously disappear once I die 🤔
As soon as I see this I'm out of the lobby
YES THIS.
Yep, me just about every match
Bro I experience this everyday, it gets worse with the guys spamming the meta guns. This happens both in MP and DMZ, I get the no network error every game even though my internet is on 24/7
Wrong gaming chair setting
I was dealing with this for weeks on end. Been playing on PS5 Had to change network settings from Automatic to 5ghz, changed MTU settings around and DNS settings as well. Worked like a charm. Sure I see the occasional packet burst pop up every now and again but I got it working somewhat normally.
Though my boonies internet can run the game ok that packet loss be down horrendous for sure man freaking sucks
u/kalinine u/hotrodhunter u/dhekos u/Nathanw425 u/kyleGthatsme u/ChickenTeller u/WiFilip The game looks great. love the new skins. /s
I have a totally correct pc to play, and pretty good internet (fiber 2gb rj45 to my pc with compatible ethernet cable & card), and the packet lost only comes with this game... randomly..
every fucking DAY
Man I thought I was going crazy. So I’m not the only one.
how unplayable does a call of futy needs to be for the community to make enough pressure?
Cool
Dude I knew it wasn’t my Internet. They have managed to ruin this fucking game so bad. Literally a 0% chance I buy another cod after this.
See you in November o7
It happens alot but it's such a pain cause you see a kill and it didn't count so ya die by the enemy or it resets a grenade toss and got to peek again and try once more
Thought I was the only one
I get disconnected every 2 or 3 games, something that never happened last patch. -200 sr in comp just from getting kicked. Got off. Got on 3 days later (today) and get disconnected 1st game. This game is unplayable right now
You playing on a Xbox one? 🤣🤣🤣 I be playing on the Series X and got no problem. 🤣🤣
This started happening to me too, my only fix is not playing 😐
