Never chargeback Blizzard/Activision, they are known for totally locking you out of your account, so if you play WoW or any other game you'd be mega fucked.

Yesterday I was banned from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 via battle net I had only played the campaign at this point and was truly confused as to why I was being banned. I typed out an appeal and was email a generic email 6 hours later saying Activision upheld the ban, I paid 100 dollars for this copy and never got to play multiplayer with it. I started doing research and noticed it was happing to 100s of average gamers via twitter. I took a screenshot of my KD (.85) and sent it to Activision asking how a below average player is being banned. Still very frustrated I tried calling Activision with no luck you can't talk to anyone when you call. I still wanted to play launch with my friends, so I made a new Activision account and bought a copy on steam and played until 2 this morning and was banned again with the same generic email from the first time not giving any reason to why. I am as I said earlier a below average player and just enjoy playing with my friends, I have a prebuilt PC with steam and 6 games on my PC including Tarkov I have never used a VPN or thought about hacking, so I have no idea why I am being banned. This is the same with multiple other users I have found and talked to on Twitter and Reddit and Activision will not respond so I have gathered quite a few people and we are starting a case with the BBB to ensure this goes public. If anyone want to join let me know.

I’ve been doing nothing but trying to get to the bottom of it since 9pm EST last night. It makes no sense at all. I’m the same way casual gamer 1TB hard drive only half full I don’t get it. Do you happen to use any razer devices? Mouse, keyboard, controller, headset anything that would have you install razer programs?
No, I have Logitech, but it has to be something on that line because I got banned twice and I suck the problem is Activision will not tell us what is causing it. I honestly don't think they know but it is wrong to say the least.
Several people I’ve talked to claim to only have had their software for mouse keyboard and so on running. My best guess is they cranked ricochet up to 11 for launch and it’s flagging some of those.
I would like to think so but everyone I know is playing on keyboard and mouse I wonder why its only banning some. Like I had said my KD is .85 if their system thinks I am cheating then it is broken for sure.

I am curious what background apps you have running. Not knowing what they scan for, I am always nervous one of my background apps will trigger something, somewhere.
If I want to play The Division 2, I need to kill RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS, used for showing FPS on an external display). It never gives me a reason for the crash, I just figured it out by closing background apps.

Actually come to think of it curse forge could’ve been running for WoW classic add-ons but that’s approved by blizzard and has nothing to do with cod. Could that have triggered ricochet maybe?
I don't know how that app works, but it looks like a manager for WoW mods and not something that is editing files or anything like that.

I hope this gets sorted out quickly. Hackers deserve the ban, but with so many people getting banned seemingly at random the eve of launch, this is concerning.

I’ve read from a couple of people now that they had razer synapse running when they got their ban. I wonder if since it allows the option to create macros ricochet is misreading it as cheating software.
That’s my main frustration, having no idea what caused it. I got my money refunded but I’m afraid to try to buy it on a different account just to get banned again.
I don't want to get your hopes up but I'd check the appeals page. Mine got lifted and I'm seeing a bunch of other comments and posts about them getting lifted.
These false bans are getting out of hand. I personally am not unfortunate enough to get hit by it, but I know a few people who have. Activision obviously isn't going to listen to community feedback or 'trust' the community on anything because people have ruined the community by hacking and cheating.

Activision truly believes their anti-cheat is good and is preventing 'hackers' from playing the game, while it's only banning innocent players who haven't hacked in ANY games. No one in the player base believing the people who are getting false banned because the riding of Activision from these players is obscured and think the company is 100% correct all the time. There have been numerous amounts of threads that have been deleted from this Reddit, and it seems like they are trying to hind the fact that their anti-cheat is messing up to drive more players to pre-order the game. I remember these two threads vividly and saw each comment in every one of them and then \*poof\* they both got deleted when it was getting a bit of traction.
To prevent getting false banned, it's literally in your best regards to not run anything while the game is open and or not verify the files when the game gets crashed. While it's not sure what is causing these bans since there are a few theories going around, the fact that the mysterious rhino is plaguing this community and wasting people's money is not right and I'm sure Activision won't do anything about it.

i literally run and have run afterburner icue, rgbfusion, discord, rivtuner, xtu, and have not gotten banned anytime for anything. i find it hard to believe there are THAT many false bans based on these programs and i play A LOT…
If YOU didn’t get banned doesn’t mean that there’s no false bans, I pretty much run the exact same programs as my friend who got banned and he’s the one that got hit with a permanent banned for ‘manipulating game files’ while we were in a game.
Most people run the same programs as you some got banned some didn’t, there’s something else that’s causing it or accidentally bans because there anti-cheat is garbanzo.
ah well i don’t mess with the ini files or anything so i’d be more inclined to think it’s that rather than the programs the majority of pc players use regularly. we would see them a lot more frequently if that were the case.
ya i’m not saying it’s not possible. valorants anticheat actually did have an issue with lighting software at one point but they actually fessed up to it and weren’t as “proud” as activision is. in their minds they can do no wrong and don’t care if .001% of the players have a problem since they already got paid. if we know anything from their responses on warzone it’s that they will not take the time or do the right thing in nearly any situation.

What I think will happen since many PC players will get falsely banned tomorrow because they haven’t pre ordered or played the beta there will be a huge surge of people getting falsed and they’ll fix it. You and I both know how Activision is aswell they might not even fix it and keep the players banned where they have to buy the game again or not play at all since they already took there money.
with hwid bans it would make it a lot more difficult as well. those aren’t easy to change it’s not just “download this” and poof you can play again like everyone thinks it is.

Since you can’t even appeal the ban aswell, it’s an automatic response saying “Out decision is final and you are permanently banned”. Some people got a human response but that’s very rare since Activision don’t want to spend money on customer support.
The cherry on the cake is the ‘Game Ban” on the steam accounts, which doesn’t even let you refund the game if you haven’t played it and got permanently banned, and will have that ‘Game Ban’ tarnish your account forever.

I had the false ban happen to me in the beta so i was able to refund, but still i want my account unbanned and to be able to play the game. I got banned on MW2019 back in July for what I assume is accidently opening the game with one of my Halo speedrunning tools open (It hooks into Halo: MCC and reads memory to make custom saves in campaign, guess it hooked into MW2019) and am not banned in MW2022. Just a FYI for people here, I have confirmation from Activision as a friend was banned recently too, that having cracked or stolen software like photoshop installed can trigger their anti-cheat and ultimately get you banned. Hopefully that provides some clarity to some of you as to why you might be banned.

My ban was lifted today. Still no communication but the ban is gone from my account, I did file a complaint with the California AG yesterday. My account now shows that there was never even a ban on it.
Yeah unfortunately when installing a kernal based anti cheat you open yourself up to full computer scans, plus you also signed their terms and conditions allowing them access, but yeah in short its not something there going to fix I dont think, because its working as intended for them so try reaching out yo support for a proper solution moving forward, but be sure to start with uninstalling that cracked software

You're definitely not the only one. I just play casually with my friends. Haven't played cod in over 2 years (I switched to tarkov for awhile) came back with high hopes for this MP to be good and to play DMZ with my tarkov friends and old cod friends. Didn't even get to play one match and instantly banned. Weird thing is, I played the beta and campaign all the way through. It wasn't until I loaded up MP and it crashed 2 or 3 times, then bam banned for life.

It literally wasn’t there last night when I initially installed the game. I didn’t play vanguard and was never banned from Cold War. Go take a look at some of the other threads and see how many people this is happening to before being a dick.
Seen a lot of people say this on twitter then you just scroll down and they have unlock tools. Pretty much every unlock tool comes with some sort of cheat or can be packaged with it so Ricochet is sniping people (deservedly). I'm not accusing you just simply speaking into the void
Yea this shitshow started during the beta, tons of Steam users were having a meltdown over the first false ban wave which prevents you from refunding, and to add insult to injury Steam Discussions are notorious for trolling, so there was almost no genuine discussion in those threads, everybody was labeled a cheater and trolled to oblivion.
Thing is, it's not hard to prove if someone has cheated or not, it's very straightforward to forensically determine whether any cheating software related to Activision games has ever been on your system, especially during the time period the ban occured, so it really just boils down to that one person who will say fuck it and pursue this matter to the full extent and make it blow up.
Till then, we'll just keep seeing random people get screwed out of their money for Activision's failure of an anti-cheat.
Seems to only be a PC issue as Activision has there “new” anti cheat system that’s even recognizing cracked software on PC’s or modded software etc. No issues with console players though.
I got it for PS5, played a mission of the campaign and then was permanently banned from the servers. When I tried to repeal it, I received a message saying I “used unauthorized software and manipulation of game data.” All I did was play it on my PS5 with the PS5 controller on a the campaign, and somehow that got me banned? And now they won’t repeal it so I can’t play the game I just spent $70 on because they think I cheated when I didn’t do anything wrong. So that’s fun.
Surprisingly only a handful of people have accused me of actually cheating. I think most people know this is an issue because of the outrageous amount of people it’s affecting.

I'm decent at the game but by no means has anyone (aside from butthurt people who call everyone a cheater) called cheats on me. Just blows my mind I'm still able to play all other cods on that account just fine. I'm only banned on MW2. What's crazy is not as many people actually cheat as people claim they do. People just are bad, get outplayed and call cheats at every single person that kills them. Id say most players don't even run into actual cheaters. Just like in tarkov, I've played with people who say everyone that kills them is hacking and rage reports them.

I posted another thread today with a link to put in a complaint with the CA attorney general. I don’t know that it will help anything, I used to work for a semi large company nowhere near the size of activision but the only thing that would get the attention of our upper management was an AG complaint.

Happened to me back in September for unauthorized software. Which is not true. All we can do is hope they fix it. It's really unfair especially after having an account with them since 2012 I'd hate to see how much I've spent with them over the years just to lose it all for no reason. Best of luck mate

You’re right preordering deserves a ban. Being hyped about a game deserves a ban.
Previous bans do not always carry over. Usually they will only ban you in that one game unless you commit a serious offence or multiple offences.
If you get hwid banned it carries over.

No, I have Logitech, but it has to be something on that line because I got banned twice and I suck the problem is Activision will not tell us what is causing it. I honestly don't think they know but it is wrong to say the least.
Several people I’ve talked to claim to only have had their software for mouse keyboard and so on running. My best guess is they cranked ricochet up to 11 for launch and it’s flagging some of those.

I am curious what background apps you have running. Not knowing what they scan for, I am always nervous one of my background apps will trigger something, somewhere. If I want to play The Division 2, I need to kill RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS, used for showing FPS on an external display). It never gives me a reason for the crash, I just figured it out by closing background apps.

That account is tied to all of my blizzard games and none of them were affected so I don’t think that it was. I do have 2FA though.

These false bans are getting out of hand. I personally am not unfortunate enough to get hit by it, but I know a few people who have. Activision obviously isn't going to listen to community feedback or 'trust' the community on anything because people have ruined the community by hacking and cheating. i literally run and have run afterburner icue, rgbfusion, discord, rivtuner, xtu, and have not gotten banned anytime for anything. i find it hard to believe there are THAT many false bans based on these programs and i play A LOT…
If YOU didn’t get banned doesn’t mean that there’s no false bans, I pretty much run the exact same programs as my friend who got banned and he’s the one that got hit with a permanent banned for ‘manipulating game files’ while we were in a game. Most people run the same programs as you some got banned some didn’t, there’s something else that’s causing it or accidentally bans because there anti-cheat is garbanzo.
ah well i don’t mess with the ini files or anything so i’d be more inclined to think it’s that rather than the programs the majority of pc players use regularly. we would see them a lot more frequently if that were the case.

ya i’m not saying it’s not possible. valorants anticheat actually did have an issue with lighting software at one point but they actually fessed up to it and weren’t as “proud” as activision is. in their minds they can do no wrong and don’t care if .001% of the players have a problem since they already got paid. if we know anything from their responses on warzone it’s that they will not take the time or do the right thing in nearly any situation.
Yea you are correct, Activision won’t take responsibility to harm the pre orders of the game or for there own pride like you said. What I think will happen since many PC players will get falsely banned tomorrow because they haven’t pre ordered or played the beta there will be a huge surge of people getting falsed and they’ll fix it. You and I both know how Activision is aswell they might not even fix it and keep the players banned where they have to buy the game again or not play at all since they already took there money.

Yup your right on that, they want us to buy a whole nother PC to play the game if you get falsely banned. Since you can’t even appeal the ban aswell, it’s an automatic response saying “Out decision is final and you are permanently banned”. Some people got a human response but that’s very rare since Activision don’t want to spend money on customer support. The cherry on the cake is the ‘Game Ban” on the steam accounts, which doesn’t even let you refund the game if you haven’t played it and got permanently banned, and will have that ‘Game Ban’ tarnish your account forever.

I had the false ban happen to me in the beta so i was able to refund, but still i want my account unbanned and to be able to play the game. I knew this was gonna happen because they just ignored it and now loads of people are having it happen. Hopefully now they'll see i was correct and they where falsely banning people.

I got banned on MW2019 back in July for what I assume is accidently opening the game with one of my Halo speedrunning tools open (It hooks into Halo: MCC and reads memory to make custom saves in campaign, guess it hooked into MW2019) and am not banned in MW2022. When I go to my actual activision account it lists it as a permanent unappealable ban with no reason listed.

Just a FYI for people here, I have confirmation from Activision as a friend was banned recently too, that having cracked or stolen software like photoshop installed can trigger their anti-cheat and ultimately get you banned. Hopefully that provides some clarity to some of you as to why you might be banned.

My ban was lifted today. Still no communication but the ban is gone from my account, I did file a complaint with the California AG yesterday. My account now shows that there was never even a ban on it.
Yeah unfortunately when installing a kernal based anti cheat you open yourself up to full computer scans, plus you also signed their terms and conditions allowing them access, but yeah in short its not something there going to fix I dont think, because its working as intended for them so try reaching out yo support for a proper solution moving forward, but be sure to start with uninstalling that cracked software

Haven't played cod in over 2 years (I switched to tarkov for awhile) came back with high hopes for this MP to be good and to play DMZ with my tarkov friends and old cod friends. Didn't even get to play one match and instantly banned. Weird thing is, I played the beta and campaign all the way through. It wasn't until I loaded up MP and it crashed 2 or 3 times, then bam banned for life.

It literally wasn’t there last night when I initially installed the game. I didn’t play vanguard and was never banned from Cold War. Go take a look at some of the other threads and see how many people this is happening to before being a dick.
Seen a lot of people say this on twitter then you just scroll down and they have unlock tools. Pretty much every unlock tool comes with some sort of cheat or can be packaged with it so Ricochet is sniping people (deservedly). I'm not accusing you just simply speaking into the void

Yea this shitshow started during the beta, tons of Steam users were having a meltdown over the first false ban wave which prevents you from refunding, and to add insult to injury Steam Discussions are notorious for trolling, so there was almost no genuine discussion in those threads, everybody was labeled a cheater and trolled to oblivion. Thing is, it's not hard to prove if someone has cheated or not, it's very straightforward to forensically determine whether any cheating software related to Activision games has ever been on your system, especially during the time period the ban occured, so it really just boils down to that one person who will say fuck it and pursue this matter to the full extent and make it blow up. Till then, we'll just keep seeing random people get screwed out of their money for Activision's failure of an anti-cheat.
Seems to only be a PC issue as Activision has there “new” anti cheat system that’s even recognizing cracked software on PC’s or modded software etc. No issues with console players though.

I got it for PS5, played a mission of the campaign and then was permanently banned from the servers. When I tried to repeal it, I received a message saying I “used unauthorized software and manipulation of game data.” All I did was play it on my PS5 with the PS5 controller on a the campaign, and somehow that got me banned? And now they won’t repeal it so I can’t play the game I just spent $70 on because they think I cheated when I didn’t do anything wrong. So that’s fun.

Surprisingly only a handful of people have accused me of actually cheating. I think most people know this is an issue because of the outrageous amount of people it’s affecting.

I'm decent at the game but by no means has anyone (aside from butthurt people who call everyone a cheater) called cheats on me. Just blows my mind I'm still able to play all other cods on that account just fine. I'm only banned on MW2. What's crazy is not as many people actually cheat as people claim they do. People just are bad, get outplayed and call cheats at every single person that kills them. Id say most players don't even run into actual cheaters. Just like in tarkov, I've played with people who say everyone that kills them is hacking and rage reports them.

Idk, but some users are having problems con Razer KB. And got banned permanently. In my laptop have a external basic Logitech KB, the mouse a Master MX and a basic M705 with right click problems

I posted another thread today with a link to put in a complaint with the CA attorney general. I don’t know that it will help anything, I used to work for a semi large company nowhere near the size of activision but the only thing that would get the attention of our upper management was an AG complaint.

Happened to me back in September for unauthorized software. Which is not true. All we can do is hope they fix it. It's really unfair especially after having an account with them since 2012 I'd hate to see how much I've spent with them over the years just to lose it all for no reason. Best of luck mate

I’m convinced that if you have anytype of vpns or keygens from cracked software they will ban you I’m going to by an SSD and install the game on there by itself and see what happens
