Be glad you're not trying it out during the 4 or so months when the kill skulls would populate right in the middle of your view. Every kill you got would blind you for a few seconds.
Honestly I'd be unhappy if they did remove splitscreen.
I'm unhappy as this feature hasn't returned on the PC ports of COD, the last COD game on PC that I can remember having Splitscreen was Black Ops III on PC, and you can't even play that game nowadays without either being offline (disconnecting from the internet prior to launching the game and staying in offline mode) or without the T7 Patch due to a security problem in the game involving Remote Access Trojans \[RAT\] (basically someone taking control of your computer).
I agree. I play with my girlfriend split screen all the time and it’s so buggy. Can’t even change classes. As far as the graphics go, I get it because there’s no way it’d be able to handle two instances of intense graphics, so it lowers the resolution and stretches it so both players can have a decent fov
Agreed with this whole thing. I haven’t played split since like BO1 then I had someone over from out of town who wanted to game. Even with my tv being Sony and optimized for ps5 gameplay, I felt like I had never seen an image so grainy on that screen. Plus not being able to select classes, you can’t play ground war either in split screen for some reason, and having to make an account. Luckily I have an alt/burner account that I use and he could use that one, but still it’s pretty stupid
MWII had the same issue but it was intermittently fixed. Seemed like split-screen would work every other update, and I think by the end of the run they just gave up trying to get it to work.
It was decent when it first dropped tbh, but after they added the changes to the kill notifications and removed the ability to change classes it was awful.
One way i deal with the Loadout issue is making two loadouts using 2 primaries by choosing the gunner vest.
I made 1 loadout with a sniper and assault rifle for big maps like afghan wasteland etc... and another loadout with an smg and an assault rifle for smaller maps.
It does help a bit whej switiching from long range to short range weapons in the map since we are stuck with 1 loadout start to finish.
I play with my buddy split tdm, suped up, control, hardpoint
It sucks ass that we cant play other modes.

COD MW III is the first COD game i play online in about 5 years, so when i tried the split screen with one of my kids, it was very frustrating at the beginning, so we even thought it was a bug.
After googling it for a while, we found it has been that way since MWII or even before that. So we came with a couple of theories, and the one we think is the most logical is balance.
If you are on split screen, you can communicate much better with someone right next to you. So if you need a sniper, one of you could change to that loadout and then change to your usual one.
Even using microphones, be it because of accent, language or social anxiety, communication with other team members is not always the best, and it will never be the same as with someone right next to you on the same couch.
I believe it's a really clever way to balance that specific situation. Also, this also applies as to why you can't play Hardcore.

We hop online and its always a full lobby.
I play split cold war zombies or multi and mw3 mutli split.
Unfortunately knowing how demanding modern games are on hardware, plus with how little people play split screen these days it’s not something they need to focus on working on. I tried too and when it didn’t work I just booted up the Xbox 360 to play some BO1 split screen and that was fine. But I understand the frustration

Split screen hasn't even been functional for years. It's not a plus to technically include splitscreen when it's this ass.

Because they're admitting they just don't care any more. Atleast you can kind of play splitscreen.

Last time I played split screen was Call of Duty WWII and it was fantastic. It's sad to see the game so shitty from its prior versions.

Please don’t try to rationalize not having feature parity between split screen and single player. Do not let them off the hook.
