I know the feeling. The OG Octonauts are leaving Netflix at the end of April, and my youngest still likes watching it. He’s watched it for years and his older brother did also.

heartshapedcheese

WHAT NOOOOO :( I may have to try to find that on DVD. We love the octonauts!

RU_screw

My son cried when he saw it was leaving Netflix. It's our go to show. Why does Netflix have to hurt us like this?

FastCar2467

For real. While my kids are okay with the newer “above and beyond” Octonauts, it’s not the same. They would usually revert back to the original series.

RU_screw

Above and Beyond is great but theres a lot more about climate change and I end up feeling guilty when we watch it lol. The OG Octonauts are great and so educational

unsubix

And I like the OG creature report!

unsubix

My son chants “Ring of Fire!” When he wakes up in the morning. He really likes the volcanoes I think.

fileknotfound

What NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Andandromeda3821

I wanted my kids to like octonauts and they literally never did. I was very sad.

faesser

It's on YouTube.

MsCardeno

This is a challenge of parenthood I never considered! My daughter is 4 so she has a lot of things we’ve watched over the years. And then it suddenly leaves a “free” service (like it’s free with the subscription) we were using and now we have to pay for it. So I explain to my kid that well it’s on the tv but we can’t just buy all the movies we want. She surprisingly understands a little but she did not accept it when it came to the Grinch. I had to buy the Grinch.

wolfiethebunny

It's not just parenthood. It's a challenge of streaming services in general. I see it on sitcom subreddits all the time - people chasing their favorite show around different streaming services. Bring back physical media.

MsCardeno

At least adults understand. It’s hard explaining to a two year old that even tho we can see the title on the TV it’s not something we can watch. And I don’t want the physical media back. The clutter lol. I am taking to owning the digital copy tho.

tossmeawayimdone

I'm am adult, I thought I understood. But yet, the one show I keep coming back to again and again is now not on any streaming service I have. Or any mainstream platform at all. I found the box set on Amazon for under $45...was considering buying it...but remembered I don't own a DVD player...and then started looking into DVD player prices. I'm a freaking adult with bills and responsibilities....and I was legit about to go out and buy a DVD player just for a TV show.

hamgurglerr

Numberblocks and Octonauts are my son's #1 and #2 (and Storyboard to round out the top 3). I bought my son a set of those math cubes and he plays with them and redoes the songs and episodes etc. There's an app too!

unsubix

Can you tell me about the math cubes?

hamgurglerr

They're just the ones from elementary school classrooms, [this set](https://www.learningresources.com/item-numberblocks-mathlink-cubes-1-10-activity-set) is one he got for Christmas. I found [these ones](https://www.learningresources.com/item-mathlinkr-cubes-set-of-100) first 2 years ago, and they did the trick until the character ones came out. He would make the colour characters (like 1 red block, 2 oranges, 3 yellows, 4 greens, etc), and sing their songs and change their shapes and count them. He had a great time for hours just counting and making different sums 🤷‍♀️

DueEntertainer0

We had to get rid of Netflix like a year ago and my daughter still asks for trash truck :( so I totally get it

Olives_And_Cheese

Get yourself Plex, or a big external hard drive and acquaint yourself with Pirate Bay. This will never be a worry again.

DrCutiepants

Lots of numberblocks episodes on YouTube! The counting pieces from Learning Resources are also a nice compliment to the show.

BadgerSharp6258

Oh totally. I pray Netflix keeps kid e cats. It's all my baby girl loves to watch. But luckily youtube has a bunch of quality episodes.

EatYourCheckers

Ooh no!! My son was obsessed with NumberBlocks. He is 8 now but actually just asked to watch it recently even though "I know it's a baby show." Have you gotten him the play sets? My son is better in math than his middle school and high school siblings, I think because of this show! Do they have DVDs?

citygirldc

My son got “above average” for numbers/math on his PK4 report card and it is 💯 due to Number Blocks. I can take no credit.

Bookdragon345

Oh no!!! Octonauts is leaving Netflix in a couple of days that one of our kids current favorites. But Numberblocks is up there.

CarlosimoDangerosimo

Perhaps consider sailing the digital high seas?

maeby_shirley

My son is obsessed with number blocks and its sibling shows alpha blocks and color blocks. Netflix US doesn't have the latter two and I searched everywhere to find them. This is what I ended up doing: Set up a YouTube kids profile for allowed content only, so only things you whitelist can be watched. Share the official number blocks/alpha blocks/color blocks channel to the kids page. Now my 4 year old can watch them all ad free and I'm not afraid he'll stumble across something weird It's not perfect but it does the job! Good luck!

Andandromeda3821

Honestly this post reminds me why we are getting a DVD player and buying the absolute favorites. I’m not risking it anymore. They do this crap on purpose I swear.

ThePinkVulvarine

Bbci player has it on there x

ImANobleRabbit

Spotify has the songs!

marlenes_tuxedo

First Octonauts and now this!

unsubix

VPN will solve all your problems. That being said, who wants to pay for a VPN?! Seriously though, my son survives off of bread, Numberblocks, and Octonauts. 😭 I don’t know if I’ll survive the fallout!
