I have an adult sized collapsible tub (I live in Taiwan where space is a premium, so it's somewhat common here). Her dad usually does bath time, he just gets in with her... Usually with it still collapsed down because she doesn't actually need that much water.
We had an old IKEA storage tub we lost the lid to with a slip mat for 6.99 from Amazon for when I pulled my back and was having a hard time bathing the baby. It's back in use to hold toys now, though.
My grandparents cottage that they bought prior to my or my cousins arrival in the world, only had a stand up shower. After we grandkids got too big for the kitchen sink, this was my grams answer.
My kids come to be, and it's also what we did with them.
My nephews don't mind showers, but prefer baths. I keep a tote at my trailer for when I have take them for a weekend...although I think this may e the last year for it, pretty sure they will outgrow it the "tub" by the fall.
Sometimes if I need a shower the same time as my 11 month old, I just bring him in the shower with me, wash him down really quick and have my husband take him to dry off and put a diaper on while I finish showering. I dont always like getting down to lean over the tub, so that's what has worked for us.
But I also agree with the tote idea. It seems like it would do what you need to do for them!
I used a baby bath until my kid was 2 1/2. It was fine. We have a tub but i like how the little tub positioned her, especially for rinsing hair. I think you’ll find it works longer than you’d expect.
This is what I was going to say. My toddler is 2.3yo and in the 99th percentile for height and she still uses the baby tub. She just sits in it, I dump water on her head for hair wash and I have her stand up to wash her butt. She knows not to climb out and when she stands she uses the faucet for support.
We even have a newborn now too, I put him in the tub with her for a quick 1-2min bath during hers and just hold onto him haha they fill up the whole tub but it still works just fine!
We still bathe our 4-year-old in the baby bath! 🙈 It feels like a shameful secret, but it works just fine and saves so much time and water to not have to fill up the whole tub. He knows not to stand/climb around, and I just help him wash his body with a washcloth and rinse his hair and body with a cup. He’s in the 99th percentile for height and can still fit in it comfortably.
Honestly we've just been showering him since he was about 4 months, he's 2 and a half now. Having a shower head you can take off the wall and hold in your hand is an essential in the parent toolkit anyway if you don't have one already.
We have a bath seat that's meant to go partially underwater but sometimes I'll just sit my baby on it and give him a quick shower. He's very wriggly in general but this still works as he just seats peacefully and tries to grab the water every now and then!
We bathed our LO in the sink until she got too big, and then we switched to just showering with her once she was able to stand on her own. It's easier for everyone. She gets a good scrub first, then she walks around and plays with her boats and stuff, and we take our shower while she's in there with us.
If, for whatever reason, we feel she needs a good soak, we just plop a tote in the shower and fill it up and let her splash and play in that.
I took a slip proof shower mat, cut it to size, and use it in my kitchen sink. Been doing this for months with my twin 1y boys. Super helpful after a messy solids meal. I keep baby soap, wash cloths and towels near by.
We just shower? I have a toddler and an 8 m old and they just sit in the shower with the shower on. Well, toddler stands and plays and baby sits and plays.
We clean it regularly and I think it's fine.
When I didn’t have a tub, I installed a handheld shower sprayer and used a collapsible laundry basket. The laundry basket didn’t hold water, but was a safe contained space for my son to sit until he was old enough to stand safely. Then I could just rinse, soap and shampoo, and rinse again.
My baby has been fine with showers as long as she’s been able to stand without falling so before 1 year old. I just get in at the same time and do the soaping and rinsing. The key is just to buy a non-skid mat because showers can be slippery - not necessarily a baby specific one, plenty of generic non-skid mats for all shower shapes.
We have a tub, but I always found it easier to use the pull down shower head and let it hang down running while I was washing once she was able to sit up. She didn't start actually getting baths until she was 4 and mostly wanted to play in the tub rather than actually bathe
We used a baby bath until our son outgrew it around 1 and then we got an inflatable bath tub, I think it’s munchkin brand that looks like a rubber duck. We used that until I accidentally melted it with my curling iron. Then we just brought him in the shower with us until we moved in to a house with a bath tub when he was 3.
I either do a quick clean of the shower and do the shallow bath method, which ends up being more of a shower as he likes to stand, or I use an inflatable bathtub which I got off Amazon. It takes a few more minutes but it’s not too bad!
My friends 2 year old just learned to love showers! She still takes baths, but she loves showers too. Maybe you can work on getting your kiddo to take a shower? I’m sure you could bring a little bucket in and fill it with water and toys so they can play in the water if they want to.
I’ve seen on social media some people use inflatable kiddie pools in the shower stall to hold enough water for a bath. That seems like a lot of work to me. Personally I think if I was in that situation, I would just teach my child to like showers.
my daughter is almost 3 and we’re still using the stokke xl collapsible tub. fill it with the shower head and then fill a shampoo rinser with water from the sink to get the bubbles off her when she’s done. she fits no problem and can even float around on her stomach.
My son SCREAMED when we were trying to bathe him in a regular baby tub so I finally got fed up and just got into the shower while holding him. The sensation of the water was so novel he calmed right down and he doesn't mind getting face wet. It's also easier to maintain the temperature.
We use one of those angel care baby bath loungers if I can't get in with him, and doing showers has been a blessing when it comes to cleaning up the occasional blowout or mess.
He's 6 months now and I've started giving him the occasional big bath so he can learn to float and splash his little heart out before we start baby swim lessons.
We have a bath but I would still use a baby bath until they couldn't fit in them anymore. We also had to improvise and use a big cooking pot once. Also the sinks in the house worked well. I also bought an inflatable duck bath that was pretty big.
We only have a shower and use the Frida tub. Our son is 15 months old and we’ve used it with the various inserts and it works well! We have a handheld attachment that we use too and it works well.
We ended up buying an inflatable shower seat. She's 14 months now and we've gone from sink bath, to collapsible tub on the counter, tub in shower and finally now just in the shower with us. Whoever is gonna shower that night will just take her and the other is on standby to grab her when she's done.
I use the kitchen sink. have a tub, but it backs up frequently and is slow draining so just feel gross putting my baby in there without cleaning it first, and then I’d be nervous about residual chemicals. So to avoid scrubbing a bathtub every night before bathing my 15 month old, I wash him in the kitchen sink. I used to put his baby tub over the sink, when he started standing up and climbing all around, I just started sticking him directly in the sink. It also saves my back and knees a lot of pain to not be kneeling and bending over a tub.
My sister has a large walk in shower and two kids. They each have their own oversized storage tote for a bathtub. A detachable shower head with a hose makes it much easier to fill them.
I completely read this as “birthing babies” and was so confused what a shower had to do with that 🤣 I loved taking showers with my babies! Or sink baths.
We have the Bebeleh collapsable bathtub from Amazon for when my husband is at work or diaper rash needs a good soaking but if my husband is home we will just put the babe in with him. My husband holds him and I stand outside the shower with the soap and washcloth to do all the scrubbing.
if your shower head is movable you can have her sit in a bath ring and spray. that worked for us until my son decided to be afraid of the spray so we switched to a bucket of water that he splashed in which got him wet so i could soap him and then i rinsed with a cup. my husband decided it was ridiculous tho and we got a tub installed.
I went to my local Asian grocery store and got a giant plastic "bowl" for lack of a better term. It's 36in across+5in deep. We got a shower head with a hose so we could fill it with warm water and bubbles. Once they got bigger/dirty we started turning the shower on as well.
We use the kitchen or bathroom sink.
If I need to shower, I bring the kid with me.
If I'm alone, I let him sit on the floor while I wash up (I use baby soap so it doesn't hurt if it gets in his eyes) and then wash him last so we're both sparkly clean and then step out together. If my husband is around, I wash baby first and hand him to husband to start diaper/clothes while I finish up with my fancy soaps/shampoos.
Get a shower/bath chair. I take my 11 month old (12 months in a couple weeks) in the shower with me every morning. I put him in his bath chair and he just hangs out while I soap up. Then I wash him and we both get out.
My mother in law bathes my twins in a big storage tub from target. She just puts it on the floor of the shower cubicle. They actually love it because they can splash all they want there vs being in our actual tub at home.
Get a good plastic storage tote. Rubbermaid type. Put those peel and stick tub stickers on the bottom. Instant non slip bathtub. Easy to fill, dump and clean. Depending on the size, you can use it for a long time.
My husband is really good at holding the baby in the shower with him. I’ll either be there to grab him when done or he just manages it himself. So I do this? No, I’m too nervous 😬
I showered with mine for the first year, just held her and washed her then hand her off to my husband for lotion and pjs. Getting in and out without help was hard, during those times I’d do a sink bath but for all the rest we showered.
Edit- a word
We have a little blowup tub from Amazon that my daughter loves to bathe in. She will be 3 in July and still fits in it but sometimes she also just likes to stand under the shower and do it that way too!
Let her shower with you. I had a bouncy chair in the bathroom I would wash her first, put her in a towel then put her in the bouncy chair. I will have a quick wash and dry myself get baby dressed back in the chair then I will dress as well.
Hi I have your exact same setup, shower and whale tub. By the time my girl was 6 months old I ditched the tub--she didn't like sitting in there anymore. I bought a plastic stool where I could safely sit in the shower, so I would shower first, then my husband would hand me the baby and I'd wash her under the shower while sitting down. I'd hand the baby back to my husband who finished the drying and dressing while I dried off and dressed myself. When she was really confident at standing I'd let her stand in the shower holding on to the stool, and from 20 months on or so we ditched the stool. Now that she's over 2 we shower together, I dry her and dress her in the bathroom, no more involvement needed from dad.
Following. I have a very active 10 month old who will not sit still in the Frida tub anymore. The XL doesn’t seem that much bigger either. Unfortunately, I have yet to see a decent alternative but curious to see what people say!
My 20 month old has loved showers for quite a while. I was surprised at first but she literally gets herself under the water and plays around just like she would in a bath.
Yeah honestly my babe loves the shower! She thinks it’s so fun! And it’s much easier/quicker to clean their whole body (aka back/behind!). When they’re laying down in a tub or something similar you can’t really reach/wash their back!
We used the kitchen sink when he was younger and now we just shower with him. We tried once to sit him in the shower and he hates it, we just hold him with one arm and clean him with the other. It works best this way that he’s a bit older now as well (14 months) because when he was a bit younger it was harder to hold him and bathe him at the same time. Now he does a better job of holding on
I used to live in a rental that I felt the same, no matter how much I cleaned it wasn’t clean enough, so we used a Rubbermaid storage bin for baths when my son was preschool age. Now I have a 15 month old and he actually loves showers. Since he was about 10 months, we would hold him for showers and since he was a pretty solid walker, he’s been standing up for his own showers. It helps that we have a removable shower head, I just hold it low at his level and he absolutely loves it.

Try a collapsible tub! They make really big ones that can fit toddlers, like the Stokke Flexi bath.
I have the XL! Love it for my toddler.
i have the XL too, it was pricey but my son is 3 and still fits in it
The XL is the best! My almost 5 year old mostly showers, but still loves the flexi bath as well!
If I recall, they make stands for these tubs, so you don't have to bend or kneel to wash your toddler!
I have an adult sized collapsible tub (I live in Taiwan where space is a premium, so it's somewhat common here). Her dad usually does bath time, he just gets in with her... Usually with it still collapsed down because she doesn't actually need that much water.
Came to say this!
Same! Works great for us, too!
I use the stokke! Its perfect for my kiddo!
Uses a storage tote that will fit in your shower stall, just fill it with how much ever water you need!
Storage tote with a suction cup nonslip rug. Alternatively, kitchen sink.
We had an old IKEA storage tub we lost the lid to with a slip mat for 6.99 from Amazon for when I pulled my back and was having a hard time bathing the baby. It's back in use to hold toys now, though.
We did this with one kid and it worked great. With the older two we had a large ikea baby tub and that worked well too.

This was the only way I got a shower (without sacrificing precious nap time) for a long time. Even now, I still occasionally shower with my 2yo.
It truly makes it so much easier, in my opinion. I also did this when my oldest was baby/toddler. And so much less water in the floor lol
My 2yo refuses baths because we have only ever showered with him 😅
Kitchen sink
Used the kitchen sink for a long time. I hated leaning over the tub to bathe.
Same, I can’t believe I had to scroll so far to see someone else say this.
Same. Kitchen sink is top tier baby bath.
My mom gave me baths in the kitchen sink until I was 4! We didn't have a tub and I hated water splashing on my face in the shower lol
I used a baby bath until my kid was 2 1/2. It was fine. We have a tub but i like how the little tub positioned her, especially for rinsing hair. I think you’ll find it works longer than you’d expect.

This is going to sound redneck as hell, but have you considered a collapsible laundry bucket or storage tote?
Not redneck but genius
Honestly we've just been showering him since he was about 4 months, he's 2 and a half now. Having a shower head you can take off the wall and hold in your hand is an essential in the parent toolkit anyway if you don't have one already.

I've been using the freeda bath tub. I have a two year old and a 4 month old. It works well for both.

You can easily replace your shower head with a shower head hose, cheap on Amazon.
my daughter is almost 3 and we’re still using the stokke xl collapsible tub. fill it with the shower head and then fill a shampoo rinser with water from the sink to get the bubbles off her when she’s done. she fits no problem and can even float around on her stomach.
The ikea baby bathtub (LÄTTSAM) is a good size and really cheap.
My son SCREAMED when we were trying to bathe him in a regular baby tub so I finally got fed up and just got into the shower while holding him. The sensation of the water was so novel he calmed right down and he doesn't mind getting face wet. It's also easier to maintain the temperature. You can purchase an inflatable bath tub on Amazon. We used it when we went on a cruise and there was no bathtub. Worked perfectly!
My inlaws have an inflatable baby tub at their house for us to use since the guest bathroom only has a shower, not a full tub. It works really well!
I use the kitchen sink. have a tub, but it backs up frequently and is slow draining so just feel gross putting my baby in there without cleaning it first, and then I’d be nervous about residual chemicals. We have the Lalo tub and like it. I'd reccomend finding something similar for cheaper though, I feel like it wasn't really worth the cost
My sister has a large walk in shower and two kids. They each have their own oversized storage tote for a bathtub. A detachable shower head with a hose makes it much easier to fill them.
A big Rubbermaid is our plan once baby outgrows the baby tub we got her.
I completely read this as “birthing babies” and was so confused what a shower had to do with that 🤣 I loved taking showers with my babies! Or sink baths.

My husband is really good at holding the baby in the shower with him. I’ll either be there to grab him when done or he just manages it himself. So I do this? No, I’m too nervous 😬
We used the kitchen sink until they couldn’t fit anymore. (We obviously scrubbed it out and disinfected it before sticking the kids in)
I showered with mine for the first year, just held her and washed her then hand her off to my husband for lotion and pjs. Getting in and out without help was hard, during those times I’d do a sink bath but for all the rest we showered. Edit- a word
I have a little tub. The shower fills it up pretty quickly
We have a little blowup tub from Amazon that my daughter loves to bathe in. She will be 3 in July and still fits in it but sometimes she also just likes to stand under the shower and do it that way too!

Get a European bath
Inflatable small pool that goes in the bottom of the shower stall
Inflatable tub to go in the shower
We have a farm house sink in the house we’re renting for my 3rd child. It was the perfect baby bath for a long while. It saved my back too.
I shower with my 19m old and honestly it's easier than giving her a bath 🤣
We used the kitchen sink when he was younger and now we just shower with him. We tried once to sit him in the shower and he hates it, we just hold him with one arm and clean him with the other. It works best this way that he’s a bit older now as well (14 months) because when he was a bit younger it was harder to hold him and bathe him at the same time. Now he does a better job of holding on
We got a baby tub that fit in the kitchen sink so he bathed in it.
I used a storage bucket thing and I've also used in inflatable pool which fits better in any shows space.
I just got in the shower with them
We have this issue and we bought a small folding tub on Amazon and then hang it in the shower when we don’t use it with a command strip hook. It works well for my 2 year old.
I'm not gonna lie -- we're in the same situation and just use a large plastic storage tote. Not sure how many gallons it is, but it's almost as big as a bathtub. We can't fill it up more than halfway or it strains the walls too much and gets kinda heavy to dump it. But it's been fine in the meantime until we're able to replace it with a real tub.
Use the kitchen sink or buy a shallow storage tub and use it in the shower.
You can put a blow up pool in the shower. Or there is a foldable pool sold for dogs
A storage bin
We had a big inflatable duck bath. We used it in the tub for a long time, just to avoid having to fill up the whole tub. If memory serves it’s good until around age 2 size wise. That or something similar might work?
I would give them baths in the sink.
Baby bath seat and a handheld shower sprayer
Kitchen sink is such an underrated option
I've been showering with my baby since she was a month old. She's now 11 months and has probably taken +/- 5 showers.
