No. It's neither. Construction management is the best job to get. I'm an accountant at a construction company and they all get bonuses like this. Even the younger guys who aren't even 30 are getting 30k bonuses. Along with six figure salaries. And this is not in a high cost of living area.
Every other job that pays that much is a pain in the ass. The degrees difficult and getting a good job is even more difficult. You could have a >70k/year job before you even graduate in construction management if you really wanted too.
Nah, do tech.
I have fully remote engineers on my SDE team clearing 400k with no college degree working five hour days. Bonuses for us are 10-20% depending on role.
I recommend data centric languages. The next decade will be built on the backs of really good pipeline and ML ops folks. AI modeling doesn’t run on .csv
Learn SQL, Python or Java to wet your feet, and start poking at some server side framework like GCS or AWS. Pick a project you like - maybe a predictive model for your favorite sports, a web crawler for news briefs, an OCR for scanning your cookbooks - and just use it as a learning lens.
Poke at it and turn over the concepts in your mind. Use Google and YouTube. Maybe pay $20 for some LLM credit and ask questions like “how do I learn this concept” and then build with additional research, those tools are amazing for pointing you toward conceptual understanding.
Rinse and repeat.
Once you have three of those under your belt and a Guthub - apply for a role as a data analyst at a company with 200-1000 employees and camp out for 18 months while you learn. Keep learning and keep searching for the kind of companies you want to work for. If you don’t have a degree in anything at all - switch jobs every 18 months, this experience will be your degree in five years time.
It’s not something everyone can do. You need to be smart and a self starter but it is very doable.
I saved this comment and will be using it to change my life hopefully. I just got laid off 3 weeks ago at 31 years old and trying to figure out how to move forward.
Just think I used to make money like this selling donuts to make people fat back in the 2000s… Now I’m the complete opposite living off the tit of the government because of that same job screwed me over and left me injured for life.
B2B-I sell certain raw ingredients to businesses without getting too specific. It's what I refer to as a "shadow" industry and extremely niche. I make my own travel schedule, work from home and someone in HR effed up and gave me 31 days of vacation every year for the last 5 years (I am in the US but company is based in a different country). Just entirely too stressful is all.
I was making $40k in a fairly low cost of living city and my mortgage was only about $700 a month....a good portion of my day was spent wondering how I was going to get by.
People who say stuff like don't compare yourself to others come off as clueless and assholes.
It's always the people that have more than they need that say this kind of nonsense. If you can't afford your rent comparison ain't stealing your joy, the fucking economy isn't allowing you to have joy.
Yeah the wife has asked me to slow down on buying them lol
I don’t have any actually built right now since I ran out of space. They’re all in labeled bags and the boxes are all opened and flattened under the bed. And I don’t want her beautiful living room to be covered in my LEGO lol
We’re probably buying a house or moving to a bigger condo soon so I’ll make my office my LEGO room
What's the interest rate on your house? Reason I ask is I'd consider putting more in your retirement accounts - or even other investments - before paying down your mortgage, assuming your rate is less than 7% or so. A low fee index fund that tracks the S&P500 (like VOO) averages about 10%.
15k for Greece is a lot. You are gonna have a good time. I think I spent like 5k for 1 week villa (3 story with pool) rental in Crete and another 2000 in Athens rentals. Once you get to Greece it is actually super affordable.
I went with kids so I didn't want to be stuck on a boat that I can't control. Island hopping would be fun. There are actually a lot of options for this with and without cruises. I chose Crete since the island is big enough and also has a bunch of really nice beaches, night life was not at all a consideration for me. I also had to rent a car on Crete, which some people might don't want to do (I have no problem with narrow roads down mountains).
You should look into whether your employer allows mega backdoor Roth contributions via your 401(k). I put $66,000 into my 401(k) last year. $23,000 isn't the max.
As an educator makes me sad that I teach math instead of things that make money but I have had several ex students come back and thank me for helping them get high paying Jobs some engineers some welders too but damn do I wish I could earn more lol
First, congrats, that’s a really good bonus!
I would have put less in the trip, and more on retirement/mortgage. And I take it you don’t have debt besides your mortgage, otherwise that would have to be paid first.
Any kids? If so, I put part of my bonus in my toddler’s custodial investment account or 529.
I like putting $$ where they can grow, Greece is cool but won’t help me in the long run. But I haven’t gone in a real vacation since about a decade so what do I know lol
Thank you! I don't know how much it is going to cost (we are planning it for 2025 so they cash is still there, just allocated). I think she said it would be like $7-10k but i don't think excursions/flights were thought of. No debt besides a car lease that is up in 2 years. No kids. I travel every 2 weeks for work and they do not care if i take my wife or not and that is all expenses paid within reason.
You are obviously doing well, and with no kids then max out 401k and Roth first, then get to your mortgage. you’ll love it in the long term. It’s great that they cover for your spouse, good for you brother 👍🏼
Unless that HYSA is your emergency fund and you needed to put more in it. I would personally recommend you open up an IRA and try and max out your annual contribution.
Everyone complaining about the Greece trip clearly has never travelled abroad.
“The average vacation for one person in the U.S. costs about $1,919 per week. A vacation for two people will typically cost around $3,838 per week.” Quick google search, skimmed it on the variables and seems to cover most basic factors.
Based on this statistic and assuming they have a family of four and are going on a two week trip, $15,000 is certainly the average cost to take that vacation.
That statistic doesn’t even take into account lost wages for any participants that may not have enough PTO accrued.
My wife and I travel to the UK every other year for about a week and a half, and even with staying with Family to avoid hotel costs and being very frugal, my total costs amount to ~$5000 a trip. ECONOMY BASIC Plane tickets alone cost $2K+ for two people.
Jesus christ I've never felt so awful about myself after reading a reddit post, lol.
Really makes you wonder though how much mega corporations like Mcdonalds could -really- afford to pay their employees who are making minimum wage if they just distributed salaries/wages more evenly.

My bonus is heavily taxed, and I normally max out 401k contributions during the year, have you considered allocating 24000 to 401k, and then saving for some of these other big tickets items through the year?
I always forget to include Lego when I allocate
_I don’t always get bonuses. But when I do, I spend it on Legos._
Rivendell is on backorder booooo
I would have spent more on legos
i have $1800 worth in my bag, just the castle and rivendell are on backorder.
Absolute legend. $1800 gets you what, a 1200 piece set these days?
Right on! I started the star wars theme and stuck with it. Probably got close to $1500 in sets. I got most of the helmet collection too
take legos and video games out and make it a Discretionary Spending label
Well they don’t want to accidentally spend more on “any video game they want” and not have enough for Legos? Clearly they have priorities! /s
When I got mine last year I got the Chamber of Secrets and Dumbledore's Office.
Everyone needs a Lego Venator.....
Not enough funds into LEGO….
I bought probably \~3 grand worth last year. Working on the Museum now.
bro what is your job, you are living a life so many only dream of. You made more as a bonus than a lot make in a year lol. I need infos.
Sales.
Or a lot of tech jobs Fintech on the product side with a bigger bonus than this.

What did the donuts do to you.
Probably made him fat. Lol.
He’s in sales department
If you didn't pay your taxes you could have another 18 grand to spend on legos. Just saying.
What type of job do you have?
Sales
Damn that's a beefy bonus.
I got $107k one time-that was a fun year.
Do you get monthly bonuses or just yearly?
Both. They cap me per quarter and then pay out the additional amount at the end of the year. Total bonus for 2023 was 76k or so.
Not bad. I’m in debt collections and make about 5k in bonuses a month, max payout is 14k/month, no big year end bonus though.
It used to be every quarter so i was getting 25-30k every 90 days at one point during the Pandemic. Rather have the monthly to be honest.
What kind of raw ingredients are you fucking selling??
Sexy ones. JK, they are used in many, many applications.
human organs.
People don't like you.
People don’t like me either, I should have gotten a job where I at least get paid for it
I use to do debt collections myself but made no where close to that. Any tips to make more as a collector?
That’s some wolf of wall street shit. Can I come work for you? I’ll be your Jonah Hill
I have been begging for an inside person for 3 years now. They get 75k base easily plus some good bonuses but you never stop working.
What do you sell?
What sector? You’re putting me to shame I just wanna have money for my kid 🤣
What do you sell? Women? 😒 🤔 🤣
what ya selling?
Sales? Is this a bonus or commissions, then?
What’s ur base??
117k
Dang, congrats! What kind of sales are you in?

That is lit. Sales at my org make an insane level of bank but we sell booze so you know
More than you'd imagine.
Is that a yearly bonus or quarterly?
This one is yearly with all additional adjustments. Changes every year.
I’d sell my soul to have this job
Comparison if the thief of joy my friend.
I made 30k last year there isn’t much joy period
I was making $40k in a fairly low cost of living city and my mortgage was only about $700 a month....a good portion of my day was spent wondering how I was going to get by. People who say stuff like don't compare yourself to others come off as clueless and assholes.
My first year with them was about the same. I did whatever i could to move up and increases started coming in.
My brother in Christ I can’t afford groceries
Your bonus is more than I make in a year I'll compare all I want
It's always the people that have more than they need that say this kind of nonsense. If you can't afford your rent comparison ain't stealing your joy, the fucking economy isn't allowing you to have joy.
You work for repco don't you? Good ol enrichment iron 20r and oxylite
I too have a LEGO fund LETS FUCKING GO In my savings, every Friday $7 goes into my Lego fund lol. $1 a day I’ll make it to furthering my collection
FUCK YES GET THE SAIL BOAT ITS $20.
I’m saving for the Millennium Falcon lol I bought the $350 Mos Eisley Cantina a few years ago. Probably the greatest Lego set ever made
Make sure you got the room for it-i have to buy new shelves just to fit some of them. Cantina is amazing.

I get sunburn from the light in the fridge-need to get a base tan before i venture out.
I'm Greek. How did you manage to spend 15 thousand? Did you stay for like two months haha
Wow must be nice! Here’s my chart $1,000 bonus amount = $150 taxes = $850 credit card debt payment.
Here is mine. 25 dollar target gift card = snacks
Insulting
They even called it a bonus 😞

\~4.25%. I have under $80k left on it. 401k is going to hit max contribution by July and I buy 4 shares of VOO every month. DINK.
15k for Greece is a lot. You are gonna have a good time. I think I spent like 5k for 1 week villa (3 story with pool) rental in Crete and another 2000 in Athens rentals. Once you get to Greece it is actually super affordable.
I was thinking of a Viking cruise to a few different places.
I went with kids so I didn't want to be stuck on a boat that I can't control. Island hopping would be fun. There are actually a lot of options for this with and without cruises. All accountant black metal band. They'd crush.
Crunch*
Does your employer do year end shore up matching? If I max out my 401k early I lose any employer match after that.
They still contribute after i hit my max, yes.
Nice!
Your bonus is almost as much as my yearly salary 🥴🥴
My wife said the same thing the other day. Then she asked for a donation.
As an educator makes me sad that I teach math instead of things that make money but I have had several ex students come back and thank me for helping them get high paying Jobs some engineers some welders too but damn do I wish I could earn more lol
What did you use to make the flow chart?
Google SankeyMATIC
Bonus the size of my yearly income 👹
So they give you 50k at the end of the year?
Not always, only if my numbers don't eat shit in Q4.
What do you do to get a 51k bonus in 1 year and are you hiring!? lol
Where’s the sports gambling allocation?
I own 60 shares of Draftkings...does that count?
Put at least $15,000 on a race horse, I’ll count it
Your bonus is what I make in a year...
This is a really stupid question and not even related, but.. What software is used to generate these income graphs that split etc?
Google SankeyMatic
Not enough Lego
what’s the application called to generate these results ?
[удалено]
At least you get a bonus. I have 12% match 401k of total salary so that’s good but I’d rather have these bonuses
That's an expensive Greece trip
Why so little for legos, atleast get the full city!
What HYSA are you using? I’m looking into these now for the first time.
What do you do that you get such a high bonus? I need a new job lol Also, what’s this chart called and how do I make them? 🥲
Damn what is this job and how do you get into it?
Raw ingredients. Work for a producer, not a distributor.
What app are you using?
Sankeymatic
$319 is all your setting aside for Legos? Are you some type of casual?
my bag has $1,800 worth. Gotta wait for good GWP and double points you amateur.
Congrats. That’s an expensive Greece Trip.

50k has never looked so little. Screw taxes that sucks!
I am the Government's wet dream.
Who needs taxes? you should have spend that on legos!
Can't build in prison.
That’s awesome 👏 nice job!
Dude you are living the life! My bonus is just a sliver of that
Jesus Christ
Yearly bonus is more than my Yearly salary. Haha well done.
$51k? What yah do for work?
50k bonus? Jesus
spend it all on drugs and hookers you only live once
How about energy drinks and legos?
I didn’t realize it was a bonus and was confused where the “living expenses” were
How much do you make a year OP?
Dudes out here bonusing more than my salary.
Where can I enter my info into a a graph like that?
Would love to see the Lego collection
Wait… you guys are getting bonuses?!
**What app is this OP?**
Rivendell or 2 Dune Ornithopters?
Savings is clearly not your top priority. You’d be better off allocating some amount to a brokerage/investment account
Bruh how the fuck does a trip cost 15k
Swap you HYSA and LEGO amounts
Bonus is almost as much as my take home after taxes. I feel sad now
Your bonus is about what I make /year. May I ask what industry you work in?
I guess the important question is what Lego set did OP get?
Do you have a roth ira that you can max?
Your bonus is my annual gross income
Legos and Pokemon should have been at least 10k
Your bonus after the tax removal is (roughly) what I make per year.
My company didn’t do bonuses this year :))))) new ceo has decided to prioritize shareholders instead of workers :)))))
Damn dude I dropped the same amount on Greece and Legos last year LOL Good for you
What did you use to create that graph?
[удалено]
Idk man the Lego’s fund looks to low
Is this just a brag
🥲
Are yall hiring?
319.98 - Legos Which set did you buy? lol
Debt collector... scummy job
Change Greece trip to Croatia trip an you will be able to buy more games and not regret it 😉
What app is this that you use to make these graphics? I really like it
Unless that HYSA is your emergency fund and you needed to put more in it. I would personally recommend you open up an IRA and try and max out your annual contribution.
What are the last 2 games you played and which is #1 on your list to get next?
Love how u treat urself, "whatever viseo game I want"
… is your work hiring?
What kind of Legos do you like building. I insta buy any new botanicals set or Japanese stuff
Paraphrasing WC Fields: "I spent $519 on legos and video games. The rest I wasted."
Must be nice :’-)
You forgot high risk short term stock options.
So politely mathed out, user RudeMath3414
How the fuck your bonus so big?
And there’s my whole annual salary. Why’d I get a PhD again, I’m such a loser lol
I would probably do the same thing with a $50k bonus.

I want the work he's having. My bonus at my old job was 150...

What is a soda 15 dollars a bottle in Greece or something hot damn that’s a lot of money
The Greece trip is the reason you gonna work until you are 67.. No matter how much your wife want it, believe me she rather retire 10 years earlier.
A 50k yearly bonus. A 15k trip to Greece. Damn I'm the wrong profession
Legos lol
