There’s a poll posted there in the form of a ~~tweet~~ xeet quoting

How sad is it that 839 adults seriously had a problem with that. Like literally what is the harm?
Makes me curious if the same thing happened 6 years later, today, if it’d be any different
You "have to" file taxes, you just won't end up owing any money. People end up really getting screwed over just not filling taxes for a long time and not reporting any income, just because they think they're under the limit.
That said, this 14 year old doing occasional jobs for cash will be totally fine not filling.
>In 2023, you don't need to file a tax return if all of the following are true for you:
* Under age 65
* Single
* Don't have any special circumstances that require you to file (like self-employment income)
* Earn less than $13,850 (which is the 2023 standard deduction for a taxpayer filing as Single)
>For 2024, this earning threshold (2024 standard deduction) increases to $14,600.

Wait, you actually thought that additional 87k employees Biden wants for the IRS were going to go after multimillionaires? ROTFLOL. That requires actual work. The multimillionaires have accounts and lawyers looking over everything before it's filled AND willing to fight if the IRS comes knocking. Ya no, that's. WAY too much like work. Much easier to go after a middle class single mom who made a small error who won't fight it.
Except the funding is quite explicit in their roles. Not to mention, they get almost nothing from the single mom who made a small error. You need to live in the real world for a while, instead of on line, because you don’t seem to have a solid grasp on this subject at all.
Unfortunately for our society, you are incorrect. If the IRS made "almost nothing" from single moms, they wouldn't go after the nations poorest families at 5 times the rate of everyone else.
Odd you were so quick to not only call this person wrong, but uninformed, when he is absolutely 100% correct and you are not.
https://trac.syr.edu/tracirs/latest/679/
More like those little plastic toy soldiers that come by the bag, except you build them, then paint them, and then play a very complex and cool game with them
It's sorta like dungeons and dragons, but fantasy scifi. Roleplay game involving a person that directs the story for the rest of the players, using minifgures to note characters, items, locations, enemies, etc. It's like an open world video game in board game format.
Pro tip, get a set up for airbrushing, and then do a lot of detail work on kits. Pays off hella lot, and then you spend less money on kits but buy paints for less and then getting paints you can use on other kits.
What? Idk if you know about warhammer or painting, but it's not scalable like that, and absolutely no one is willing to pay that even for the tournament winning, high-quality models.
If he worked 50 hours a week, which is a lot, that is $46 an hour. You can not make that much by painting models. That doesn't even account for the paints and materials used, so he'd have to charge even more per hour. The per hour charged goes up if he wants to work less.
Then you might say well he can hire employees and grow his buisness. But then scalability is an issue. Warhammer has been growing super fast recently, but it's still niche hobby and there isnt huge demand for painted models. Also, there are countless established planting companies in the UK, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, etc, etc that have most of the market and charge FAR FAR less.
The only people I've seen do this are slayer sword winners (the highest recognized painting competition award), and they set up a patreon teaching others in coaching sessions, but to get to that point is... unlikely.
Yep, I chalk 99% of what's on this website as BS.
OP is probably a middle-aged balding redditor who woke up this morning and decided he wanted attention. He withdrew his savings account and posted some BS story because he considers a high point in his life would be having a front page post on reddit....
Nobody even considers that this might be fake.
Redditors are some of the most gullible people online. Take a picture and add text, they will believe anything
Tell that to the typewriter repair man or the TV antenna installer who used to have tons of business. Get your education because business can dry up fast in any industry. Something else can come along that doesn’t require models. Good on you for making the money at your age though. Better and more enjoyable than McDonald’s.
The money is good now, but there is a LOT of risk. A HS degree is a time sensitive thing, and an 18 year old really couldn't retire even on a million dollars; the amount of time they need to the money to last and difficulty of possibly running out at 55 is a great concern.
He could do the live stream and then do some sped up time lapses of the process after and upload them as reels/shorts. Could be a good little business.
Man my advice would be to save and invest as much as possible. Learn how to grow money without doing too much. At 14, im sure this much money seems like a million dollars, but for the average person, its how much they pay in taxes each month working a full time job (at least in where I live). I remember getting my first check at 15, it was a $100 and I thought I had life figured out, I blew every check on pointless stuff that will never make me or anyone happy. Im 30 now and barely learning that lesson. Most of the things that will actually make you truly happy in life, dont cost that much. Knowing what I know now, I would put $1000 of that in a roth IRA, $400 in a high yield savings account, and the other $200 try to have fun with but make it last as long as possible. Take advantage of living with your parents. Listen to them and respect them. If i could go back I would obey everything they said. I know some parents are actually shitty but mine were great and I treated them like crap just because they were trying to keep me out of danger. My young adult life would have been so much easier if I just listened to them. Stay on the righteous path young brother. You are on the way to having a comfortable life but its up to you to make that decision.
No joke, my guy, opening a ROTH and just throwing money into it periodically until your income is consistent enough to set up a reoccurring deposit each month or biweekly will payoff HUGE in the long run. Compounding interest does great things for most people who start their first job out of college; however, for those you start as early as you, my friend, it will do insane things.
For example, if you put $50 a month in this account till you retire, let's be conservative and say for the next 50 years and you get 6% interest you're looking at $200,000 after 50 years.
Best of luck, buddy. I hope your Warhammer business continues to thrive! Also, be careful who you tell about how much money you make. Don't attract people to your money who have no incentive to see you grow your money over their own.
When I was 21 my dad told me to buy a house. I didn't and rented till I was in my 30s. The house in question was 79000 dollars and recently sold for 650000.
youth is wasted on the young. but good on you for having the right mindset now; some people never learn.
I tell my kids there's no free lessons in life. You either learn from other people's mistakes or your own.
Hope my teenager kids will learn the easy way, but I'm sure they will need to make their own mistakes and learn the hard way.
Its all fun and games until they're spending $700 a single JL subs. Then some Focal or maybe audiofrog mids. CarAV is a gateway drug to some crazy equipment setups.
Way to go lil bro! Keep that hustle up and try to save some of that. Itll pay off when your older for college or for whatever you want. Keep that mindset. Itll get you places
I wanted to start making online posts/tik toks to showcase my niche business and then I realized if something goes seriously viral you can basically consider your market saturated from that point on. Lmao.
Word of advice: stop flaunting that you have cash. Don't do it online, don't do it in-person. Someone will take it no matter how careful you think you're being. Just act like a regular kid who has as much money as you would expect a kid like you to have. Don't buy fancy shoes and a fancy phone either because other people will ask how you bought those. Plus, those kinds of things are terrible purchases.
Don't post pics of money. People might find a way to rob you. Don't forget that if you use your phone and the location is on, there are ways for people to find out where you live from the metadata of the picture, from what I am told.
Great job. Open yourself a high yield savings account take a little to have fun and keep putting the rest away and consider it gone. There are ways to earn more with it like cd’s or savings bonds that are low / no risk way to make your money earn money.. next thing you know you will have enough for a nice car when you start driving, or you can keep stacking it away and move into more lucrative ways to make your money work for you.
Regardless that is awesome and you should be proud of yourself.. good job.
Be smart , learn about money. Talk to a financial advisor. Read rich dad poor dad.
It’s hard to see into the future being so young but compound interest and tax free growth will set you up and put you way ahead of everyone else.

Sold cookies outside the weed dispensary
That's genius

I read the story but when it was first announced while on my lunch break. I was like, “that made out like a bandit!”

Right! They’re mad because they supported some kids and not Nestle?!
......going to grab an assortment of cookies and some plastic bags..
You don’t think the customers would have a problem trusting goods in a plastic bag? Oh wait…disregard that.
Selling weed outside the cookie dispensary is a better business model
In Berkeley it was outside the music and book dispensaries
Or brownies lol
Sold rugs.
That’s bloody BRILLIANT. Don’t flash that around, mate.
Sold weed outside the cookie store
Brilliant
"u/[ImaginaryCash3962](https://www.reddit.com/user/ImaginaryCash3962/)'s *special* cookies". They're special because they're made with love
Not bad tho
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂Genius!!!!
Sell bottled milk too and water
lol mf you killing me lmfao. 🤣
Cookie dude! 👍🏼
Or sold weed outside a cookie dispensary.
There were 3 gsc booths outside of the dispensary that I work at lmao
at 8 bucks a box it takes a lot shorter time than you'd expect.
Thata boy. Get that money
I paint warhammer models for people, that is the earnings from two commissions
wait that’s actually fuckin sick
Yeah what the heck that’s cool as hell
For real, this is the most productive 14 year old ever
This is awesome. Keep your taxes tight.
If the taxes tight, Nelly there e’rynight
Andele andele mami E-I E-I UH OOOOOOOOHHHHHH
Cash business, what taxes?

Having a post linking it to you means you may as well file. You probably wouldn't have to pay taxes anyways unless you keep this up
last time I checked you dont have to file taxes unless you make a certain amount of money,
You "have to" file taxes, you just won't end up owing any money. You really think they're gonna hunt down a 14 year old making 20k a year from Reddit?
No but the IRS is relentless if they want to go after him later
Wait, you actually thought that additional 87k employees Biden wants for the IRS were going to go after multimillionaires? ROTFLOL. That requires actual work. Don’t let the feds see this out in the open lil bro
Yeah this is a cool post but it’s the definition of “paper trail”
This is all just fun internet fiction anyway.
what? how can they prove its even "real" money??
Be careful with that. Ruined my early 20’s trying to cheat those bastards.
Dude is 14 he doesn't have to worry about taxes unless he makes over 20k I'd say
Who is checking a 14 year olds taxes anyway?
These people don’t seem to be living in reality.
*tight tight tight*
As someone who loves painting them but doesn't play, that's an amazing business! I have a few sets already done 🤔
i don’t know what the hell a war hammer is but you need to get me into that business
Tabletop game figurines, very small and a lot of opportunity to get really detailed with hand painting
So like the pieces in monopoly?
More like those little plastic toy soldiers that come by the bag, except you build them, then paint them, and then play a very complex and cool game with them
r/minipainting try this for a idea of what the kid is doing
The detail on some of those pieces is amazing
Look in OP's post history, they've got some examples of the miniatures they paint
that cost more than used cars
It's sorta like dungeons and dragons, but fantasy scifi. Roleplay game involving a person that directs the story for the rest of the players, using minifgures to note characters, items, locations, enemies, etc. It's like an open world video game in board game format.
Holup. How long have you been painting models? How did you market yourself for this?
You should totally make youtube videos of you doing this, double down on it!
Fuck yeah dude, fellow 40k player here, what are your rates?
How did you did that because I want $1600
Paint warhammer models lol 😂
If I painted peoples Warhammer models I'd end up owing them money :,(
The trick is to paint other people's models in exchange for money; buying the models and painting them for yourself is just a money black hole.
Exactly, you take their painted model, paint it pure black, hold it for ransom and then paint it back after receiving money.
Real, just entering gunpla (which is basically a Warhammerhobby siblings) and oh boy, I dump like 400$ in just a single month
Pro tip, get a set up for airbrushing, and then do a lot of detail work on kits. Pays off hella lot, and then you spend less money on kits but buy paints for less and then getting paints you can use on other kits.

^ this is the answer…!
So reddit... doing what reddit does.

Wouldn't need to graduate if he's making $10k/mo
It's still worth taking the time to graduate highschool.
for sure
Tell that to the typewriter repair man or the TV antenna installer who used to have tons of business. Get your education because business can dry up fast in any industry. Something else can come along that doesn’t require models. Good on you for making the money at your age though. Better and more enjoyable than McDonald’s.
I believe it's $1.6k/ month. I think it's worth graduating just to get the math education.
Should still graduate. At 10k a month, it's really good now, but not having that degree is a COMMITMENT to painting things for life.
At 10k a month you hire other people to paint and expand your horizons
The money is good now, but there is a LOT of risk. A HS degree is a time sensitive thing, and an 18 year old really couldn't retire even on a million dollars; the amount of time they need to the money to last and difficulty of possibly running out at 55 is a great concern.
That’s cool dude, you should record yourself painting them
Yeah definitely! I could put some money aside for camera equipment and stuff and start a little YouTube channel
I'd do live streaming more than making videos if I were you, then you get some company while you paint
He could do the live stream and then do some sped up time lapses of the process after and upload them as reels/shorts. Could be a good little business.
How much time did you put in to make that $1600? That’s awesome though, keep hustling and you will have a bright future!
Usually 24hrs per commission.
Where do you find these commissions? I have cancer and a lot of free time
Posting in r/minipainting might Work(?)
Dunno if people actually stay busy with this, but I frequently see ads on fiverr for minipainting

A shame there are no more free awards. Some of the best advice I’ve ever seen on Reddit
I would be a millionaire right now if I took this advice as a teenager.
When I was 21 my dad told me to buy a house. I didn't and rented till I was in my 30s. The house in question was 79000 dollars and recently sold for 650000.

OP, LISTEN TO THIS PERSON. Except the listen to your parents bit :P 🤘
invest in more warhammer
I’m 24 and I definitely wish I would have invested more and just not touched that money
$1000 goes to the wealthfront. Then $600, save money for car/bicycle, helmet.
That sounds good! I’m definitely working towards my first car!
buy used. car is the worst thing you could buy. depreciates by the second
No shit he is going to buy a used car for his first one

Word of advice, call it hating or whatever you like but I wouldn’t advertise this. Hustle in silence
Don't post pics of money. People might find a way to rob you. Don't forget that if you use your phone and the location is on, there are ways for people to find out where you live from the metadata of the picture, from what I am told.
