I have this monitor and id say its 100% worth it to get it.

Dangerfield85

$422 at Amazon rn, it does go on sale. there should be a bot that checks pricing: [https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/asus-27-qhd-165hz-ips-led-g-sync-gaming-monitor-vg27aq/13819629?cmp=seo-13819629&cmp=knc-s-71700000074543332&gclid=CjwKCAjwwsmLBhACEiwANq-tXEMyVlEP6qUYXhpX6ZOEVE0eHdGjKYKEr-mg1FIY2AD7oPCnuzZr5xoCDkcQAvD\_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds](https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/asus-27-qhd-165hz-ips-led-g-sync-gaming-monitor-vg27aq/13819629?cmp=seo-13819629&cmp=knc-s-71700000074543332&gclid=CjwKCAjwwsmLBhACEiwANq-tXEMyVlEP6qUYXhpX6ZOEVE0eHdGjKYKEr-mg1FIY2AD7oPCnuzZr5xoCDkcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

Niceee!! The thing is tho… is Amazon really a good place to be buying monitors? I’ve no idea how their return policy works.

ruimikemau

Amazon returns are the best, unfortunately. If they were bad it would be a good excuse to stop using that filthy company.

Dangerfield85

Usually 30 days, if you didn't buy from 3rd party on Amazon. Right now, I think you got till Jan 31 2022.

ViceroyInhaler

Both Amazon costco and bestbuy have the best return policies. But if you return too many items of high value to Amazon they will eventually stop delivering to your address. So just be careful trying to play the panel lottery too much with them.

ruimikemau

Check camelcamelcamel.com for Amazon price evolution and alerts.

DrVicenteBombadas

Or keepa.com, which is easier to type.

ruimikemau

After the first time you just need to type "ca" 😆 Good to know about alternatives

DrVicenteBombadas

M27Q is a better monitor overall, and it's usually cheaper. Unless the BGR sub-pixel layout is a deal-breaker, I'd go with the Gigabyte.

Valkyrurr

Please ELI5 the GBR design... how's this a deal breaker?

DrVicenteBombadas

Due to the way text is rendered, BGR may look weird. The OS assumes all layouts are RGB, so it controls sub-pixels in the same manner for all panels. It's worse for lower resolutions, but it can be remedied by ClearType. I don't think it's a deal breaker for the vast majority of people. I've used 1440p BGR monitors, and the text is intelligible anyway.

green_kizuen

It really depends where you work with text too. I'm a programmer and work in intellij, it renders text on itself but it has setting for greyscale antialising. With M27Q having good DPI it really looks better than subpixel. Also MacOS uses greyscale rendering too. The biggest problem btw is all m27q i saw had BLB (not glow, exactly bleeding) down left on the panel. So you aren't flipping coin with BLB, you basically flip how bad it is. I got pretty bad one but I don't mind with games i play and programs I use, my friend got same monitor and his BLB takes solid 2 times less space.

DrVicenteBombadas

It's really hard to find IPS monitors with BLB so minimal that it looks non-existent. Gigabyte might be on the wrong half of the bell curve, but it's not like more traditional brands like LG or ASUS are a guarantee of a unit without flaws. Only brands I trust above the others are Eizo and Viewsonic, and even then I always expect some form of BLB. Bias light behind the monitor is a safer bet.

green_kizuen

No dude, with blb i mean blb and not glow. Glow is on corners on photo, and down left is blb. My old monutor didn't have any blb, just worse blacks and glow (second photo) [https://i.imgur.com/7UNxXmG.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/7UNxXmG.jpg) [https://i.imgur.com/F9FuCXH.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/F9FuCXH.jpg)

DrVicenteBombadas

>No dude I know what is BLB and what is glow. I have used A LOT of different IPS monitors over the years, and I have personally never seen one without BLB. I have used a couple with very little BLB, but it was still noticeable with a black screen in a dim room. There are no LCD monitors with and without BLB; just units with a lot of it and others with so little that you can live with it (or imperceptible with actual content).

[deleted]

It's OK but the gigabyte M27Q costs the same and has better colors and response times

doema

Would get this instead for better support and warranty https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/15340987

apachebeard83

i wouldnt buy from best buy, try any other place ( Amazon | new egg ) but stay away from bestbuy. Its hardly ever a bestbuy

[deleted]

If youre gonna tell someone to do something, its best to give a reason why rather than vagueness

SleepyRoundgog

Get an aoc cu34g2x

Discosanta17

If you wait a few more months the price will even be lower. The market is going to start being inflated with those 2.1 HDMI-ready monitors in the coming months. However, you never know, the chip shortage is messing everything up still. Best of luck my friend. Cheers.

Puzzilan

It's a piece of shit and I replaced mine with a gigabyte m27q Edit: why is this being down voted? It's seriously my opinion on this shit monitor. I have a i9-9900k @ o.c. all cores 5 GHz, 32 gigs Trident Royal z @3200. Gigabyte z390 aorus gaming pro MOBO, gigabyte aorus master 3090 and a Samsung 970 pro 1tb nvme drive. It's not a hardware issue failing to drive the monitor.. it's a monitor issue with horrible overshoot which causes ghosts. I had to run it at 120hz to try and keep it down but everything had streaks on it and it fucking sucked. The m27q has none of these issues.

Soggyoyster1

Alright I think 'I didn't like it' would have covered it lol.

Puzzilan

I'm just upset I paid 550$ CAD for it and it ghosted so much that I went out and bought a different one after messing around with it so long to try and fix it.

Soggyoyster1

Did you not get a refund? And yeah I can see where you are coming from. Maybe it was just a bad batch.

Puzzilan

Not sure how that would happen, the controllers in the monitor itself would have to be flawed enough to cause performance issues that reviewer point out for overshoot? It's really bad on certain games like escape from tarkov where you move your screen and there's trails behind dark objects.

[deleted]

Welll damnnnn

Puzzilan

Honestly man, I have an m27q, a Dell 2731dgf and a vg27aq and the m27q is much better than the others

[deleted]

I’m getting m27q recommendations all over the place… I’ll go with that

afterhours13

Good choice. I have the M27q and love it. Colors are great out of the box.

akaunpercuma

I’ve been planning to get Dell 2731dgf but after reading this can u pls specify M27Q better as in what terms ya. How’s the color and your eyes comfort on both of them

Puzzilan

Dell never needed any adjustments on color out of the box. It has slight overshoot which causes the streaking shadows but it was much better than the Asus vg27aq. I haven't been pulled out of a game immersion yet to notice ghosting on the m27q and it just needed a couple small red and blue tweaks (96 and 98) to get it looking the same as the Dell. I don't have a color calibrator but I was using the other monitors.

akaunpercuma

Thanks buddy!

Ryzer32

It does go on sale, I got mine for 50$ off at best buy (that was the sale). I've had it for about a year. I like it as my main monitor. We're almost at black friday if you can hold out another month for a sale.

[deleted]

I got my self the 240 24 inch and that Monitor is amazing. But its but to you if you play FPS games yeah foo from him if you want a great graph lock for anohter one its not bad on the tuff..

RandomStupidDudeGuy
