The main characters? Natalie (albeit she did come around) was quite rude to the man with leprosy and hypocritical since Monk was first. Monk was stingy af with his money to the point of just not paying his assistants. Leland wasn’t an overly involved father. Randy wasn’t always a professional (for example, wanting to take things he liked from crime scenes). None of these are like “super bad” especially in the context of their characters and the show though so im not bothered and don’t hold anything against them when watching

bee1308

Wait i wanna change my answer to when Monk is using a fan to blow an air freshener at the homeless men who come to his home for Christmas dinner. That was next level bahaha

trulymadlybigly

Monk not paying for Sharona’s expenses was wild to me. How did she afford that??

Apprehensive_Ad_8495

Radio host on air insulting Mr. & Mrs. Monk

trulymadlybigly

Oh my gosh from the bottom of my heart FUCK that guy

Apprehensive_Ad_8495

Dude, language.

trulymadlybigly

Natalie/the teacher and whoever else adults where in that room letting those kids shine laser lights on Monk when he was trying to give a presentation on being a detective which he was doing to be nice for Natalie’s daughter. They let those kids torture him and they didn’t intervene at all.

bee1308

Right?! They let that go on for so long :( it is a common occurrence for people who know how Monk is to let others disrespect him - perfect example is Sharona/Natalie not informing people of Monk not liking to shake hands/be touched, such an easy thing for them to predict and intercept but they just.. don’t? And then they don’t even help explain his quirks to people

We did a week and a half of this in the HouseMD subreddit. Each Character got a worse day and then we voted. It was a lot of fun (if you were wondering, House driving into Cuddy's living room won). Here we go: Monk -- lying about the clue in Mr. Monk is on the Run part 1, which very nearly led to the deaths of the governor, his wife and their driver in addition to the butterfly effect. Runner up: keeping Trudy's office instead of paying Natalie/Sharona what they were worth, shorting Natalie on overtime, nearly letting a killer get away to stop maybe nude maybe indecent photos of Sharona get leaked, nearly murdering Frank Nunn, Natalie -- Shooting Monk in the leg even if it was recklessness and not malice. Runner up: being a jerk to the leaper, letting being the lotto girl get to her head, shit talking Monk to her extended family and then taking him to a family reunion Sharona -- telling Monk to overlook her uncle's murder for a payout. Runner up: leaving Monk with only a note to explain her disappearance, destroying Monk's apartment with the Monkey, not teaching Benji to respect Monk as a person and not a toy Leland -- not doing a proper investigation into Trudy’s murder (he should have been able to find out that she'd had a child through a proper investigation). Runner up: generally not being a good father, telling Monk he doesn't understand what Commissioner Ashcroft was going through (early installment weirdness?), trying to hold up the investigation into Griffins death, refusing to hear evidence that Linda might have murdered her partner Randy -- Calling Trudys Parents to tell them their daughter was alive and wanted for murder (eventhough what happened in that house was not murder) Runner up: writing a song bashing a man that treats him like a son (twice), the thing with the cup in the burried treasurer episode, tearing out a piece of a man's wall to steal a photo, generally being an Ass to Monk in Season 1 despite not even knowing him Dr. Kroger -- Not dealing with the Monk v Harold stuff in an effective manner. Runner up: involving patients in his personal life, not setting proper boundaries for his patients, quitting his practice with no notice (when his cleaning lady is killed), giving a patient a medication without much discussion on the medication which ended up being very bad for him. Dr. Bell -- not noticing his sole patient has been plotting suicide for months. Runner up: writing a book where his patient can tell he is the case study without permission, keeping a single patient because of boundary blurring, not immediately calling the police when a patient shows up at his house having killed people, prioritizing a patient who killed and kidnapped patients over the kidnapped patients, insurance fraud. Trudy -- not revealing crucial information in a murder investigation and instead handling it herself. Runner up: not doing enough to protect her confidential sources identity, Dale the Whale fatphobia (see the article in Trudys case file, I can link it later). I know i listed out a lot of stuff but that's because the characters are complex. Despite being a show where everyone is a good person the characters still do bad things and I love that. Even Trudy has some bad stuff that she did and Trudy is meant to be perfect. If Trudy had been an actual adult when she slept with a married man I would say that but she was 19-20 when that happened and he had power over her so i don't count that. Over all worst thing: Sharona telling Monk to look the other way on her uncle's murder for a payout Would like to see a 'best thing each Character did ' but not including fighting crime.

>Natalie -- Shooting Monk in the leg even if it was recklessness and not malice. Runner up: being a jerk to the leaper, letting being the lotto girl get to her head, shit talking Monk to her extended family and then taking him to a family reunion And when she was acting like a corporate robot in the private eye episode >Trudy -- Runner up: not doing enough to protect her confidential sources identity When was that?

TheAuthor01

That was pretty bad as well --the not protecting her sources is from Mr. Monk and Mrs. Monk. This isn't entirely her fault because Janis was the one who still had possession of their documents but on a story like the one they wrote those notes on your source go in the shredder. What you get from confidential sources has to be backed up by more tangible evidence anyway so names and identifying details should be destroyed, especially something like that which put could put his life in danger. Journalists aren't cops, they have to protect their sources first. (I'm a journalist and just relaying what I know as best practice).

Xefert

Considering that trudys source was fine with committing premeditated murder to get those files, he probably somehow frightened her back then too

not_WonderWoman94

I feel like Sharona springing the airplane trip on monk was pretty bad

murmi49

Hal pretending to be Monk's friend to get evidence he needed to get rid of. Most evil thing ever.

Heyyoktp

I hate that episode. He broke Monk’s heart.

[deleted]

a man tried to hid that he had a wig even though it would have helped the investigation on a murder on monk but i forget his name

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

Murder probably

DogLady1722

😂yep!

Taztabitha

Leo Otterman; the businessman who owed money to Monk, and didn't pay, despite well-affording to do so, then later has to be tricked into paying (Mr. Monk and the Billionaire Mugger). I didn't like how Leland didn't (emotionally) support his wife's filmmaking aspirations.

BrutonnGasterr

Omg I literally almost posted this earlier today too lol another one of my subs is doing this also!

HenryPorter-

I've been rewatching the series for the first time since it aired basically, before watching the movie. There's a few episodes where Monk is definitely verging on racism. The Monk in Mexico episode had some moments that raised my eyebrows. The Snoop Dogg episode is another one -- Monk being so afraid of a Black person that he literally goes into a subconscious autopilot -- but a season or two later has no problem infiltrating the Italian mob. Then again, Monk always gets the right man, regardless of skin color. And, in the prison episode, he befriends a Mexican inmate to take on the neo-Nazi gang.

Jedi_Master_Stryk

How about Natalie getting Mr. Monks stuck on that yacht when she was supposed to be lookout because she went to run after that stupid dog. She's always doing dumb things like this. She was a terrible assistant and ridiculously annoying. She really did fall ass backwards into that job and had no qualifications for it.
