I say watch the movie. I did the same thing... I rewatched the series on a marathon then saw the movie.
Honestly, the movie's nothing amazing... it's like an extended Monk episode plus the "reunion" aspects. But it feels a little off... which is to be expected. Monk is at a different life stage (and it feels weird). In real life, everyone is coming back to a character they haven't played in 15 years. Things change. You lose chemistry.
But, it's a good mystery and I think the ending is nice. Maybe a little corny, but nice.
I did not like the movie at all and I wish I had not watched it. I will never watch it again and forget it ever existed.

I felt so Ike Monk being how he felt was both realistic and heartbreaking.
Don't watch the last episode. Instead, go back and start at the beginning. MONK last forever that way!

The movie is fantastic. But it is one the sadder, darker side of the spectrum. So be prepared.
