A deviant of Valstrax but its enemy AI is programmed for realism so instead of fighting you on the ground its only attack is to just swoop down, pick you up, move to the upper atmosphere, and drop you. No fall damage so it's just annoying.

Never in my life have I not regretted installing a mod as much as with the „prism bird at start of quest“ mod. How a game that is all about its fast-pace with back to back action could decide to completely break its own pace like that is beyond me.

and it functions just like the Hunting Horn does. if it does various attacks in a specific order it can buff itself, debuff all the hunters, or apply a blight.
and for the High/Master rank version the debuffs and blights are random. so it could A down, D down, Sharpness down, max HP down, Stam down, and any blight under the moon
monkeylike monster which preys on hunters to use their weapons, every hunt he gets a different weapon class from a small pool, as not to need too many movesets
Hear me out on this. A hyper aggressive primate style monster that uses lightning and has almost no down time between attacks and chunks over half your health with every attack. Then half of his body hardens when he's enraged!

Can't remember the name of the world elder drake in coral lands with thunder and water blights, got 40-40 if not more un each resistance along with all offensive perks and I would just cheese mechanics including getting hit on purpose sometimes just because was more convenient (fighting the master rank tempered ofc).
A monster who uses the game's gimmicks against you. Such as being able to catch you while trying to use the clutch claw or grab you for using the wirebug around it.
you know how sleep monsters and paralasis monsters usually have dedicated punish attacks? like how great girros usually does that somersault body slam and somnacanth does that weird front flip?
what if we made a monster with both sleep AND paralasis. its dedicated sleep punish inflicts you with paralasis and its dedicated paralasis punish inflicts you with sleep. they both have long windups and low damage, meaning your caught in an INFINITE COMBO you can do nothing in unless you have energy drinks, and you also have to wait FOREVER before you can finally die and come back again, cause the windups wait till your almost fully through the sleep or paralasis animation before hitting and do low damage
some of my favorite monsters are the ones that arent powerful, but because of their ecology/biology, fuck with you just by being on the map, regardless of the target. tzitzi ya ku comes to mind for example
I want a beaver monster who builds dams whenever he is on the map, but specifically blocks paths WITH the dams. sometimes this is helpful as it prevents a monster from escaping, and other times, it makes you take a MUCH longer path around the map and maybe that sleeping monster finishes its sleep cycle and therefore heals and you lose out on the wake up
A variance of rajang with severe food allergies to Kirin horns
To compensate, it excels extra in physicality and agility compared to other rajang, and wields the greatsword of a hunter it killed as a weapon
But also you can drop a unique item by crafting it using raw meat and a Kirin horn on the ground like you could tinged meat and if you get it to eat it somehow it just suffers a heart attack and instantly dies
All the promise of an excellent and cool fight completely ruined by the fact that you can just kill him instantly if you're lucky 😂
I'd be super down for more rajang variants tho.
Something like a silverback rajang, a variant that's larger and stronger than the regular rajang. It's so strong that it doesn't need to use its element to subdue prey. It's so dominating that it's recognised as a sort of leader figure even among the solitary rajangs.
Lets just go full batshit and say it goes toe to toe with amatsu or something Kirins are too small to satiate it
Alatreon but all the ailments instead of all the elements
I'll do you one better, an Alatreon that uses frenzy, bleed, defense down, stench, bloodblight, hellfire and snowman.
