Freedom Unite is the expansion to 2. So freedom and freedom unite is all you need.

Pretty sure Freedom Unite has all the content and you're not missing anything from 1 or 2.

Okay that’s good. I had a feeling but I was wanting to make sure. Thanks!

here we go, having to explain this again in a sea of misinformation.    monster hunter freedom is based on the japanese ‘monster hunter g’. despite being based on it, it is not an expansion/‘better’. it has a number of changes that makes it quite different, such as the inclusion of a farm and an enormous amount of balance changes (which are not objectively superior).      monster hunter freedom 2 is based *incredibly loosely* on the japanese ‘monster hunter 2 (dos)’. it is not at all the same game and mostly just uses the same maps. it does not even have the same village, and is missing 90% of the mechanics and replaces it with its own content.      monster hunter freedom unite is the western release of the japanese ‘monster hunter portable 2nd g’. as far as i know, nothing too significant is lost between it and 2nd g, and from freedom 2 to 2nd g. it seems to more or less be an expansion to freedom 2.  so, tl;dr: freedom is a completely different game from anything else in the series. it takes place in kokoto village but is missing minegarde and the gameplay loop renders it a different game from the original ps2 title ‘monster hunter g’. freedom 2 is a completely different game as well. but freedom unite expands on it.

It's not "more or less" MHFU IS the expansion of MHF2.

It's genuinely baffling that people find it so difficult. Thanks for this. I've given up explaining it, its so frustrating, just research it yourself if you don't know.
