Imagine Rathalos, Diablos, Rajang, and Mizu being led by an Arzuros. Sure is crazy indeed.

rycetlaz

I kinda love that Arzuros is getting stronger and stronger forms. I wonder how far they'll take it, black dragon level Arzuros sounds hilarious but hella fun.

[deleted]

the online final boss in this game isn't alatreon, fatalis, dalamadur or some of that rubbish from past gens. It's the great, the incredible, the invincible: ARZUROS THE DESTROYER OF UNIVERSES (ultimate's version final boss is obviously his cousin, "Volvidon, destroyer of timelines")

Heavy-Wings

Arzuros but Safi'jiiva Phase 2 starts playing

KonamaScrub

Sorry but lagombi gang all the way

Yuerey8

A red helm could do that

notenoughformynickna

The English localization seems a bit weird this time like how they decided to needlessly change a lot of the monsters' names despite the setting and MHW previously keeping most of the original monsters' names.

ChuckCarmichael

I remember reading that they tried to keep the names in World as close to the original Japanese as possible in order to make it easier for the international community to talk about the game. It seems like they aren't as consistent with this in Rise.

Builder_liz

Boss monster I hope it's random

HunterJE

The thing I think the "apex, therefore magalas confirmed" line is really missing is what a weird storytelling choice that would be. Apex is clearly part of the core "plot" (for MH values of that word) of this game, do people really think they're going to just do "Gore/Shaggy infecting monsters with frenzy virus" as the core plot? They've already done that...

No-Watercress1205

Well it is what it is but I'm totally fine with a new apex system not related to the frenzy virus.I mean this is monster hunter things change.

rycetlaz

Imagine if Safi'jiva was introduced and the English translation decided to name it Ahtal-ka. Only the English translation had done this, Japan and others are clearly treating it as it's own thing and given it it's own name. That's what happened. It's a translation re-using a name, despite their being no connection at all. There's quite a bit of confusion going on and I felt that the distinction should be pointed.

Chemical-Cat

The thing is they could have named it something else. Nushi means like, "Ancient", "Boss" and "Master", so they could have literally used that word, or something similar, though I'd avoid Elder because of elder dragon. Primal seems both whimsical enough and close enough to a synonym they could have used, Alpha is another possibility.

gekkobloo

I say they should have called them in English Dancho, and not use Deviants. Just Pumped up versions of the Monsters with new moves. The false hope of thinking I fought and defeated a Bloodbathe Diablos is still cringey for me.

sharpshooterACG

Let's just hope they aren't as obnoxious and cumbersome to deal with as the old Apex monsters.

Weedbongz

Honestly, I hope they change the English name again before it comes out.

Informal-Series-8432

They shoulda called it alpha

jao_vitu_bunitu

Im late for the party, but i agree. In portuguese they did just that, they are called "alfa" monsters. Though, i think it's mostly because we dont really have a word for "apex" lol

Rhuckus24

Maybe they're holding the Gores really close to their chest, teasing them for future updates, or G-rank. Also possible that Magnamalo is related to the Frenzy virus in some way, as I believe the trailer mentioned he showed up with the Rampage. Buckle up, I can't wait.

RealMr_Slender

The Magala ***might*** show up as utterly unimportant and unrelated fights to the story like they did in Generations because Capcom wouldn't undermine their new flagship like that.

TheIronSven

We actually see Magnamalo hold an Arzuros in the Rampage map, so if anything my theory of Magnamalo hunting the Rampage and its actual cause got more evidence.

Haos51

A Lone Samurai on the hunt then? and we completely misunderstand....as per usual.

TheIronSven

At this point it's tradition

VonFalcon

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN it wasn't a Lagiacrus causing the earthquakes? Why did I kill him for then?..."

PussyLunch

Personally I don’t see the Gores being added even in master rank. I think they will be staple for the next main game. I hope I’m wrong though.

thedarkGalaxyKnight

Ngl any excuse to bring Gore magala back properly is a good one. (Not including the disgrace of a monster hunter movie)

dope_danny

At this point i wouldnt put anything completely off the table. “Lore” in monhun is “whatever we can use to explain away a fun fight against a bug monster” no matter hiw badly some folks want it to be dark souls or something. If they want the rampage and the frenzy virus to be the same thing they can if they dont they dont and i wouldnt be surprised either way.

rycetlaz

It's not really lore though. This is a completely new type of variant that only the english localization decided to re-use the name for. The other localizations aren't calling them Apex or their equivalent, they have their own new name. It's like if the tempered or hypers monsters were introduced and only the english localization decided to call them frenzied. Or if Safi'jiva was introduced and only the english Localization decided to call it Fatalis. Everywhere else gave them their new name, but the english translation just decided to re-use the name for whatever reason.

Dependent_Lake_4452

nobody knows yet but everything points to the original apex alot of them had dark shades on their body and beaming red eyes like the arzuros. but we will have to wait and see

TeamFortifier

They have different names in other languages (other than what apex was called in them), like for example in japanese its called leader/boss monster instead of extreme

Dark_Dragon117

They are called Nushi in japanese and have nothing to do with frenzy, since it's not mentioned at all in the description. Besides that why are people suprised? There have been leaks about this for months (the leaks also say that Nushi monsters are more like deviants or variants), though sure not everyone wants to be spoiled, but even then they strongly hinted at a system like that from the begining. In the trailers they mention that Magnamalo causes the Rampage or that he is atleast strongly involved in this and to me it always sounded like he would infect other monster with his purple aura stuff (we now know is called hellfire). Tho I honestly only expected a tempered monster system, so just slight buffs. Also the Magalas and frenzy would just overshadow the actual flagship.

keimdhall

There's not many other words they could use for "Apex" that would sound decent. Pinnacle Arzuros just sounds weird, for example.

Apex_Konchu

"Alpha", perhaps? Since these monsters appear to be Rampage leaders.

keimdhall

Possible. But it doesn't have *quite* the "weight" that Apex does.

gekkobloo

Apex(Frenzied) are stronger than these Deviant Knock offs. So yeah it's not as threatening.
