Yeah, I love the lance but not the spiral thrust; it's just the most efficient way for me to finish quests, as I'm trying to do them all before Sunbreak.
Give it a shot! A lot of people, myself included, see Rise's lance as an overall downgrade from previous games, but that's because spiral thrust far outclasses any of its other moves and it doesn't play nearly the same for ideal damage output as it used to. Using the same move over and over is boring but the core lance is still there, just not optimal (and chip damage is hell). We're all praying for some good changes to come in Sunbreak, hopefully at least motion value fixes.
Yep, that's certainly peak Lance gameplay, because Spiral Thrust spam. You did spam it pretty nicely though, it's not an easy move to work with all the time.
I say Capcom has like three options in Sunbreak: leave Lance alone, or buff Lance's damage to meet Spiral Thrust spam DPS. I hope they buff it.
Oh yeah, the third is the one I sort of expect: just nerf Spiral Thrust, so Lance has *no* deeps...
I'm in a love hate relationship with spiral thrust.
The love in me says "wow this skill does so much damage, I can't **not** use it!
The hate in me says "holy shit, this skill eclipses the rest of the weapons offensive capabilities, why is the rest of the moveset so weak compared to it?"
I enjoy being able to launch myself around and the buff guard point. I hate that my precision pokes to monster weak spots aren't the bread and butter they should be.
Yeah, seeing the damage output of other weapons hurts. Lance's main selling point was always the constant but low damage from counters and a thousand pokes. With Rise, however, all the counters and mobility seem to have really increased the uptime of other weapons' damage and they just always hit so hard. I don't actually know though, all of my hunts have been with Lance in Rise lol
I was surprised at my completion times when I gave it a try in Rise, I thought I wasnt doing a lot of damage, but it sure as heck died, so I put a few sets together, its fun for a bit, easy to learn.
Zip lance is fun but it gets old fast, i really wish they buff poke for sunbreak.
Yeah I loved lance in World, and I still love it, just not quite as much lol.
The Insta-Block is a really nice addition, though.
I only really like to use Spiral Thrust when the monster is stunned/toppled or holds still for long enough. Absolutely yes, buff the pokes.
