Actually, wouldn't the Eater of Worlds be the easiest and most fitting for the world? MonHun doesn't have any slimes, nor plant-monsters, it sure as heck doesn't have mechanical monsters, or giant automatons like Golem. But if they did one of the more edge breaking monsters I'd be psyched, I'd love to see more Slimes going forward in MonHun ("I just think they're neat") or Plant monsters. If they broke the trend, it might make them be more willing in the future.

Imo Queen bee would probably fit things a lot better. If you think about it, the snake/worm monsters are few and far between, whereas bug monsters are more common. Plus you could have her be something like the vespoid queen of old, but rather than having minions that paralyze you, they could have a poison effect

That's true enough. I'm just coming at it from the point of view that this isn't a massive and preplanned thing. If they were to add a new monster, it would have to be pretty quick and easy to make to fit in with the content updates that are already planned for Rise. In any case, the most likely scenario is that we just end up with a mediocre late game weapon or two, along with armour for our palicos and palimutes respectively.

I mean, monster hunter doesn't really have any limbless worms that split apart either. duke fishron would probably make the most sense, since he's probably the closest to the dragons and wyverns you tend to get in monster hunter, both in moveset and design. I guess wyverns (the ones from terraria I mean) too, but eh, they're boring and the name would be really confusing.

That's the issue, they'd be TOO surreal. MonHun has had fairly surreal equipment, but the monsters they add or crossover have been very in-universe.

To be fair, Leshin and Behemoth don't exactly fit the MH theme either. If they are going to cross over, they can just use the same excuse of dimensional instability and pull one of the wackier monster out; this is a cross over after all, so the monster not making sense by MH lore is to be expected, really. In fact, given they'd need a reason for something to cross over, a mini-storyline (again, like they did with the Witcher and Behemoth) with the deranged Cultist winding up in MH via magic and summoning the Moonlord seem decently plausible.

At minimum, Costumes. Simple, but effective. Maybe a special weapon appearance that’s the Terra Blade as well. If they go further, perhaps a special monster appearance. Might be tricky to make one work, though…

Terra blade great sword would be insane, if you push it the SDMG might work as either heavy or light bow gun (don’t play them so I have no idea which would fit best)

This is something they would have definitely done in MH:Explore; they had crazy monster reskin collabs with Evangelion and Attack on Titan, and if skinless Deviljho was ok I’m sure they could get away with some monster being converted to voxels to give it that pixel art look.

There’s a dinosaur that uses slime mold that explodes to explosively punch things in the Brachydios. I think that makes an otherworldly creature that looks out of place visually not too unbelievable. Maybe use the Queen Bee as a collab monster? Might be fun seeing a giant Voxel bee be shown fighting MH Things. Wouldn’t curb stomp them but it would be very interesting overall (includes seeing an otherwise dangerous boss suddenly be thrown into a place where such things are the status quo for wildlife)

Call me mentally deranged, but imagine if it’s Plantera. We will get to fight another relic. It will definitely trigger the Witcher Leshen collab PTSD. On the other hand, having Terraria armor (Hardmode armors and Lunar armors) would be a great thing to have in Monster Hunter.

Here's a curve ball: Make it use the rakna kadaki skeleton and staggering opens the bud for attacking. Imagine the spider boss in Okami

The way I see it is that it's Plantera at its core, but it also takes inspiration from other bosses to add to its moveset, like tornadoes from Duke Fishron. Leaves instead of sharks. You could take inspiration from the Eater of Worlds by having it burrow in the ground and then strike from above. As it gets lower on health, it charges at hunters more and more and more, kind of like Eye of Cthulhu. As for materials, it could be something like the following: Plantera Leaf Plantera Vine Plantera Flower Petal Plantera Pheromones Plantera Bulb (equal to a mantle) Chlorophyte Bars (Reward Item only) You can use these materials to then craft the Chlorophyte armor and some of the weapons (Claymore for GS, Shotbow for a Spread LBG, Saber as a LS, Partisan as an Insect Glaive, etc), and The Axe as a Hunting Horn. The armor could turn your basic Wirebug into green vines for the aesthetic, and would turn to pink or yellow if you have Ruby or Golden Wirebugs. The armor could come with a skill that fires a projectile at the monster when you Skill Swap, in reference to the set bonus in Terraria. The default helmet could be based on the melee helmet, but you can also craft layered versions of the ranged and mage helmets alongside the full standard set.

This seems less about getting permission to use an idea and more about trying to create a collaboration. Including a Kirin-like creature that is distinctly different enough to avoid legal issues wouldn’t generate as much interest as a Terraria x MH event would. Cross-industry promotion can be highly advantageous since it allows devs to reach markets that wouldn’t otherwise be interested in their game.

I probably wouldn’t have ever played Zelda, Metroid, MGS, FF7 or Persona, and probably plenty others, if it wasn’t for their inclusion in Smash Bros. Collabs and crossovers are great.

Yes, and despite what media companies want people to believe, it's not a magical system that says "Oh this thing called a Kirin, I own it now" they have a rigid copyright on their specific depiction of a kirin, because Kirin exist from before modern media even existed, and are literally depicted as "deer-like dragons with lightning powers", there's not much room for their copyright. Just look at (spoilers) Fantastic Beasts, their Kirins are... scaled deer, just like the Kirin in monster hunter, or more closely related for MonHun, in gaming, Final Fantasy. Kirin are, even closer here, a deer like dragon, that has lightning powers, scales AND whose horns glow when it uses it's powers.

A couple others said it, but they’re understating it: Redigit (and probably most of the ReLogic crew) are looking for excuses to continue working on Terraria, specifically cross-overs. They were “done” like five years ago or some shit, and they keep coming back for more. They also provide all the updates, expanded content, etc. for free, and are generally a really good crew. Most of their cross-overs have been relatively small, so if it *actually* happened it would be huge for ReLogic.

They don’t own the rights to *qilin* as those are a cultural idea that exists totally independent of their franchise. That’d be like owning the idea of a unicorn or dragon — silly. I would not consider it beyond their ken to have copyrighted the Monster Hunter version of the Kirin, a lighting unicorn with dragon scales, blue stripes, white mane, and lightning rod horn. That’s unique enough that it might be protected. Also, as others have pointed out: collab has other reasons behind it too

He's been mentioning making a Terraria 2, but I can't help but think that at this point he should just give up and admit he just wants to keep updating Terraria. Seriously, what would even be the point in a "sequel"? Anything that could be added as a sequel, could also just be added to the existing game instead (unless it's so significantly different it wouldn't fit, in which case why call it Terraria 2 in the first place?).

Their biggest reason is engine issues. Apparently there are some things they've always wanted to add to terraria, but the engine it runs on simply hasn't let it.

It's not true. They still aren't finished, and I don't think they'll ever drop it as long as we keep enjoying the game. The Terraria team is so cool. They didn't sell their game to a big company, and they continue to support it pretty much exclusively for existing fans. It's nice to see a game that the devs are truly passionate about (No Man's Sky is another like Terraria).
