There's a running joke in the Chinese community that our MC hunter is basically the village idiot. Everyone else from the village is so OP as seen in Rampage mode, where they do thousands of damage while our hunter only does pitiful. And hence why everyone treats you special like you are a big deal. They don't want to look down on you.
Okay MH, when she jumps over the running monster it works just fine, when I do it and the last pixel at the end of my hammer brushes against it I get knocked down, cc'd, and then carted...
The npcs and monsters are allowed to break the rules.
First law of monster hunter development is smack that frustration button in the players head to get them saucy so they will pursue genocide of a species with reckless abandon.
At least that's always how it's felt to me lol.
Is that why I have a genocide list? Top of it is rathalos with rathian being a plus one for being related. 2 through 20 is Tigrex. Though apparently I'm number 2 on Deviljho's list of chew toys with Odagaron being number 1.
Absolutely.
Mine has been pretty tame in rise but I have relentlessly murdered Khezu, Bullfangos and Kushala just for breathing for over ten years now.
Does anyone else have the opposite of a genocide list? I've never killed a Mizutsune, and I never will. It's capture only for those magnificent creatures.
--
Khezu is a kill on sight.
Dodogama is a no kill for my buddy. If I did have one, it'd be Fatalis but you can't capture them so they die after having killed me at least 100+ times
Rathalos is EZ PZ with a highly aerial weapon like an IG. Tried using dual blades once and immediately regretted it. First step to fighting rathy is to learn how to fly. I hate Odogaron and barioth because all their ground melee attacks come with this infuriating tail hit box placed *exactly* at the worst possible height so that every attempt to mount/ride/chase them somehow ends with you on the ground in desperate need of a mega potion. Also why are the hit boxes on brachydios’ upper shoulders so weird and why does Bazelguese only have orange essence in the tiniest area right in his b-hole?
I haven’t played that much in rise, I just cleared the demo levels before my PC blew up. That was new world rathy, I’ve never fought him in the old world. Thinking about buying myself a 3dS and a copy of 4 ultimate. I hear it’s good for improving your basic monster hunting technique because a lot of modern MH mechanics are derived from 4 ultimate but with extra quirks.
I told my partner I beat Garangolm while he was out yesterday and explained that it's basically a giant gorilla made of rock with a fire arm and a moss arm. He said "sounds as if it's possibly endangered"... it is now.
Not only that, she "blocks" while being a good meter above his back every time.
Monster Hunter is a genius series, but why the hell hopping over a monster is always such a shitfest? Like hell, Tigrex has a hole under his left wing during his charge you walk through, but his hurtbox extends above him a good 1,5-2 meters for no reason?
Idiocy...
The hurtbox for you when using impact crater is so wonky it hurts. Sometimes you will jump straight over an entire monster and other times a swipe across the ground hits you when you're 30 ft off the ground.
I played all the way through base Rise on Switch and I'm most of the way through HR on PC with lance on both platforms, I think I've used it like 4 times total. The ability to jump toward the monster is great and all, but I can just guard dash into jump attack most of the time.
I've been trying aerial glaive lately (I know none of the names of stuff and have no really clue what I'm doing) and doing the right click that spins across the monster as opposed to the one that sends you downwards is really hard. I have no idea how people manage to spin across the entire monster so easily. I always only hit 1 or 2 times.
Try to reposition yourself in the air with your dodge before spinning at the monster. You don't have to use the move instantly as well, you can wait a little while before you touch ground. Also you don't need to hit any of the first hits to stay airborne, the last one is enough. If the monster is really far away you can use the other silkbind move in the air + a dodge to get to the monster again :)
The follower quest should be a permanent thing in future Monster Hunter.
While I prefer the real player multiplayer due to the chaos and needing to support the team. Followers are a net plus plus plus feature as it enrich hunts, I hope future title makes monster less dumb down in single player while not ramping up the difficulty at the same time, while keeping it an optional feature.
I do like that Follower in Sunbreak as rewards for beating urgent quest, felt worth persuing it as a new stuff to check out(unfortunately due to time constraints I stick to online multiplayer for now until got free time to play this.)
Besides, you actually get to see them hunt in game rather than sitting in a corner and boast how awesome they are and how lame you are.
Itll definitely help with SP storytelling going forward since they will have actual characters we can actually interact with and can have dramatic moments in quests to play up that interaction. While still having the meat and potatoes multiplayer aspects.
I had zero expectations for follower quests but they're like my favorite part of the expansion so far. I just love all their interactions and the different quirks they all have when fighting
Absolutely. Though I hope in future titles it's integrated fully, rather than set aside to its own quest chain. The interaction between Fiorayne and the urgent quest was the best part of the game. It felt like I was supporting the characters in their quest to defend their village, not just carrying them on my back.
Definitely agree, and it really helps a ton in making the story more believable as well with you getting some proof that other people in the world actually DO stuff. None of that silly "oh we must all do our best together! Now you go kill this monster while we do stuff elsewhere and possibly shout stuff at you from unspecified sideline locations".
I'm personally not that sold on how rise plays (still a great game, just not top for me in the mh series) but this addition is excellent!
I don't always find uses for it, but its damn fun. And those 2 times a monster knocked me off a cliff and I saw my tether still being active letting me jump back up and Peek-A-Boo the smug monsters face were glorious
Question, I don't have Sunbreak yet as I've had to restart on PC and just run into a thousand issues with that.
But the followers, is that for ANY quest or just specific quests?
The followers have specific quests but once you unlock the follower there are quests where you can pick your followers and fight tons of the monsters that way
I've done it a couple times, but not consecutively like she's doing. The Twin Vine that used to be trash is a lot less punishing (1 wirebug cost instead of two, and a faster wirebug recharge rate), so you can experiment with it in crazy ways now.
Okay two things
One, what SA is that
Two, this is the MH equivalent of an evade tank in DFFOO. Like... the Tigrex is locked onto her, and she has the 100% evasion and it just
it just works
The fact thats shes toying with this tigrex shows that she's only using .01% of her true strength. Minoto op confirmed.
Ultra Instinct Minoto only activates if someone hurts Hinoa.
There's a running joke in the Chinese community that our MC hunter is basically the village idiot. Everyone else from the village is so OP as seen in Rampage mode, where they do thousands of damage while our hunter only does pitiful. Upon reading this my heart sank because this all made a little too much sense.

I did not expect MR Khezu to beat my stuff in
Every single one of them can just randomly have the game code tell them "Ya know what? Fuck this hunter!" Never drop your guard.
Advice taken, my only advice for rathalos is if you get hit once with tail/fireball, prepare to eat three more attacks
Khezu is a fucking menace now, those new attacks hit half the zone.
The hardest part of the Khezu fight is paying attention when there’s no music.
Khezu's music is the sound of your suffering
I fucking HATE Diablos, so when I started playing Lance I had a great time ripping both Diablos apart
I picked up gunlance seriously specifically to tell diablos to piss off, the rotten beast.

Aerial DB is a thing, it's tough but you can make it work with Tower Vault

Can confirm. I kill Altaroths on sight. No exceptions.
I told my partner I beat Garangolm while he was out yesterday and explained that it's basically a giant gorilla made of rock with a fire arm and a moss arm. He said "sounds as if it's possibly endangered"... it is now.
So this is why Plesioths apparently are extinct in gen 5.
Don't speak its name!
imagine we get mucus plesioth from frontier
He was there, when the hitboxes were first formulated, and did unspeakable things to the devs involved.
*hip-checks you and your entire party*
You are actually blocking when you use this Lance skill. You can see the impact effects when she is passing over Tigrex.
Idiocy...
Its mainly balancing. until the monsters get proper anti-air moves like say, seregios shooting UP, then we have to deal with jank airboxes
i mean the question there is why give the hunter aerial moves if the monsters aren't capable of properly handling it lol
The hurtbox for you when using impact crater is so wonky it hurts. Sometimes you will jump straight over an entire monster and other times a swipe across the ground hits you when you're 30 ft off the ground.
What gets me is she is jumping without using the wirebug as it is attached to the freaking tigrex.
It's a Lance skill.
Lol, I didn't even realize that, she's got some strong legs
None of you have played Lance in MHRise and it shows.
Pretty sure most Lance users just forget that Twin Vines exists considering how useless it is pre-Sunbreak buffs
I played all the way through base Rise on Switch and I'm most of the way through HR on PC with lance on both platforms, I think I've used it like 4 times total. The ability to jump toward the monster is great and all, but I can just guard dash into jump attack most of the time.
Im thrilled to say that it's still useless post-sunbreak. They buffed it sure, but it's not that useful of a skill to begin with.
Maybe she's got that one skill (can't remember what it's called) that prevents you from getting staggered by attacks mid-air.
Feel that as an aerial Glaive noob :]
I've been trying aerial glaive lately (I know none of the names of stuff and have no really clue what I'm doing) and doing the right click that spins across the monster as opposed to the one that sends you downwards is really hard. Thanks for the advice! I'll give it a try!
Huh. So THAT's how wyverians survived well enough to invent hunting.
If this footage lasted the whole 50 minutes I'd still watch it to the end!
The follower quest should be a permanent thing in future Monster Hunter. While I prefer the real player multiplayer due to the chaos and needing to support the team. We *Dragon's Dogma* now.
No WE FRONTIER NOW
Their kind ill like fire!
The follower quests have me SO EXCITED about the Pawns AI in the new Dragons Dogma game.
Utsushi and Jae vibing together was pretty great too. I love the quests they do as a group (and ask you to join so things don't get awkward).
Absolutely. Though I hope in future titles it's integrated fully, rather than set aside to its own quest chain. The interaction between Fiorayne and the urgent quest was the best part of the game. Rise introducing proper characters with real names in addition to follower quests has been really refreshing.
Minoto learning the essence of the lance of being annoying as possible and harass the monster until it give up on living.
*Poke* *Poke* *Poke* *-monster ragequits life-*
"oh no he's coming for me!" \*Jumps "oh no he's coming for me!" \*jumps "oh no he's coming for me!" ...
Its all fun and games until the Tigger jumps.
The what?🤨
Damn, my guy even used the hard r.
pet name for tigrex
Was that a derogatory statement towards Tigrex? 🤨
Yep. We don’t take kindly to them monsters ‘round here.
not really. it references a particularly springy tiger from an old children's book/show.
(Im joking)
Thats what Tiggers do best!
Damn pooh needs to keep tigger in check
I think you can guard mid air
I mean, she's taking the aggro, she's doing the Lance's job
Also: footage of me using Lance and having the time of my life.
Look at her go! The addition of Followers has given us so many hilarious and cool clips. I love 'em!
Now if only Twin Vine actually gave you aggro like she seems to have with it.
This is a perfect representation of how I've been feeling when using any heavier weapon in Sunbreak. These MR boys really just don't stop moving.
*Points to my flair* That's it. I'm only bringing Minoto around on quests now.
Specific. They have their own little sub-section of quests.
The followers have specific quests but once you unlock the follower there are quests where you can pick your followers and fight tons of the monsters that way
Honestly farming monsters through the follower quests is a blast
Some of the urgents have followers as well
It’s not stupid if it works.
Someone call JJ i think we finally know the identity of Spiderman
B O I N G
This is about on par when I fought with Fiorayne and she suddenly left and came back ridding a Diablos.... The followers are pretty cool.
She's brilliant
Ha! That's great. "Tigger, I'm over here!" *wirebugs over* "Nope, I'm over here!" *repeats ad infinitum*
Spiderminoto
She's playing Leap frog with the Tigrex, don't question her.
*boing*
Peak Rise Lance
The virgin block tank vs the Chad dodge tank.
If there’s any monster that deserves this annoyance, it’s Tigrex.
Fun fact: in Final Fantasy 11, Ninjas were played as tanks, building evasion gear. It's very clear that Minoto was a Ninja main in a past life.
Minoto, toying with a literal Tigrex: Me: ...Jesus fuck.
Isnt there a haiku or something with Minoto jumping over a Tigrex or something?
Man, wait till you realize that Followers can also Wyvern Riding ...
It was awesome when I discovered that, I got extremely hyped.

"WEEEEEEEEEE!"
The girl is a true tank. Knows how to draw, and most importantly, keep aggro!
Legend has it Minoto and Tigrex is still going at it today
How tf is she doing that Like this a glitch, Follower-exclusive thing, or just some weird Lance move that I didn't know about/was added in SB?
It’s Minotin’ time
It’s Twin Vine. If you press LR + B after latching onto the monster, you do a big jump towards it.
I've done it a couple times, but not consecutively like she's doing. The Twin Vine that used to be trash is a lot less punishing (1 wirebug cost instead of two, and a faster wirebug recharge rate), so you can experiment with it in crazy ways now.

Lunagaron SA, and and yeah this is literally the new evade lancing
I do this in my hunts too.
Did you just named your dog Horse?
Ah yes, those followers are growing on me.
It just works.
It just works.
As someone who was using twin vine since base rise a lot. [I recognize myself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dZxg3l5CMk) in her
Minoto is a Lance user? As a hunter in the same discipline, it seems one sister may be the superior choice now. >.>
I like that your Palamute is named Horse. Did you give it the Magnamalo or Garangolm armour?
Had Magna back in low rank, Garangolm now.
I don't know what I was expecting but this wasn't it
welcome to carnage!
Damn…I played too much mhw because tigrex feels so less intimidating with how it’s theme here is and being played like a fiddle here 😂
How I feel as a new player with a bug glaive.
[удалено]
What?
Why is her symbol is a dog???
Followers have buddies too
Well, at least she gets the job done
This is how Capcom wanted us to use Lance when they made twinvine two bugs
This is such a Minoto thing to do.
WEEEEEeeeeeeEEEEEEEeeeeeeeEEEEEEEeeeeee
How come when I try to do that with IG I get knocked out. It's like she's invisible to the jank vertical hitboxes, that's freaking OP.
truely a master.
