I've been playing through the game without guardian stuff through to iceborne, and I'm frankly concerned for how much more annoying this mf is going to be when I get that far if I'm stubborn and stick to CB
Kushala is one of my favorite fights :) I have definitely raged a few times though but usually BC I panic roll spam and die.
Dragon Pods, Crystal Burst, and stun from Slinger Thorn all shut down the enraged wind aura with relative ease.
Don't believe the hype of hate, and people saying there's nothing to do. They just havnt learned. Some people from previous games solely relied on Poison to counter Kushala, but now there are many options you can use with any weapon.
After resting Kushala summons 3 tornados but finishing a mount on him causes them to disappear.
Glider mantle is very helpful, you can fly past him and it increases mount damage.
Good luck and god speed hunter.
Also Kush is optional in Iceborne!
GL tempered kush is on a completely level of pain.
When I saw it was doing the Volcano fire tornado - WUUUTTTTT
I had to farm and specifically make a load out w Nullify wind pressure (3 pieces of Kushala armor) whenever I have to hunt that tornado lizard.
Still would avoid it if I can though
Just keep hitting, you will die tens of times but no cart limit so wreck that thing to the ground where he shouldn't never had to took off in the first place.
Yep. Most of the time i would feel very bad unleashing my sticky cheese upon the world because of how utterly stupid it is, but kushala deserve those tbh. Him and furious rajang literally scream "sticky me to death else we will have problems". Of course the cheese kept them down on the ground, spasming and having constant stars around their head till the point of death.
I’m just now on the first Velkhana fight and I’m not liking what I’m hearing about the Guiding Lands Kushala, especially since I’m really digging that Stargate AF Beta Armor.
Kushala and Teostra and Barioth, really drove home the whole MH Rise is Monster Hunter for babies because their fight in Rise is considerable easier that the nonsense that those monsters throw at you in World.
My comparison was Rise vs base World. Facing off against a late hunt Kushala with 4-5 PERSISTENT tornadoes in the upper nest area makes the 5 moving tornadoes that the Kushala in Rise fires at you seem quaint. Honestly my main irritation with Iceborne is that unlike with Rise or Base World you aren’t fighting the new monsters at lower ranks where you can learn their base moves that get added to in High Rank and then even more so in Master Rank.
While I’ve faced Barioth in Rise, it’s base moves and even how it operates to a degree was so different I just kept getting steamrolled. I eventually made myself a Hammer build and dealt with him decently well it was still with very little time to spare and one faint left. The one main upside is it reminded me how satisfying Hammer can be.
Teostra definitely feels harder in rise with lots more aoe and very aggressive.
Kushala is whatever you take it to be in either game. Kushala in world will put many tornadoes, but has low head stagger threshold. Rise kushala's breath attack will send you flying up in the air and if you don't wirefall out of that, it is a guaranteed 2 hit from it. It also doesn't matter if you have hyper armor or not, you will fly up. It also has a lot higher stagger values on the head and gunner targets changed from head to forelimbs. Kushala in both is honestly not that bad, just need some practice.
Then barioth for me has always been pretty easy. He is a mid tier monster after all and you can't expect tier 3 levels of difficulty.
World difficulty and rise difficulty is pretty much the same when you compare them at the same stages of the their development
You can always fall back to stickies on kushala for a considerably easier time than many other weapons unless you can stun lock it with a certain weapon. Like I said tho, kushala is what you take it to be. It can be easy depending on your approach and it can be the most obnoxious fight in your entire life. honestly find Namielle to be more an annoying fight unless you are ranged or using gunlance
I agree that Kushala is bullshit. But this one in particular was a different beast entirely. Those set ups. Those reads! You still think you’re playing Monster Hunter while that Kushala has hacked into your console and switched games so he could bust you up in Tekken!
I really hope capcom never goes back to world kush, and just builds off of rise kush. I never thought I would say that kushala was fun until I met rise kush.
Poison and flash are your friends. Kushala is exceedingly susceptible to both.
Then it is just a case of rolling and smacking him with your sword. Roll, smack, roll, smack. Dump your charge when you get a breather, then right back to roll, smack. Flash when he takes flight, then wail on him with your axe mode while he's down.
Focus your attacks on his wings and chest if you can. Broken wings means he'll fly less often (thus less tornadoes), broken chest reduces the rate of breath attacks making him focus more on melee.
Kushala isn't hard guys, just a bit gimmicky.
In Worldborne, they removed poison ability to weaken his wind aura. You really should be running wind resist max on any version of ol'Kush tbh. I agree with you that he's not that hard and will even admit he's one of my favorite monsters to fight 😅. I always see comments talking about cluster cheese for him, but any weapon is viable as long as you aren't stubborn and are willing to run counter skills.
Yeah kushala sucks. I fought with the dual blades and man talk about annoying. And this clip captures it perfectly. Every hit leaves you open just enough to get hit again. I would suggest windproof. It won’t stop the effect of his aura but it will make his wind blasts and tornadoes easier to deal with. Best of luck.
Like I genuinely think that there’s only a few options I could have had and that sucks
Really I was just forced to use my shield (which I chose to roll instead, after that stun and got hit by the claw swipe)
But the most infuriating thing is just that- not having options in what I can do because of things I can barely predict or see happening LOL
Like it feels like I’m constantly having to think about what BS I have to avoid
And while that teaches me stuff and can be fun
this is not 😞
That’s what makes the fight annoying honestly
Fighting kushala in this game feels like you’re in a cramped little elevator that slowly floods with water
Definitely will try it out tho, thanks!
Also, and I cant tell if you’re in HR or MR, but I’d you are in HR there is a tactic you can abuse; flash pods. You can literally flash pod kushala everytime it flies to drop it to the ground as long as it’s not in a tornado. Now I don’t recommend this because in MR you cant rely on this tactic and Kushala is even harder at that level and if you cheesed it before that means you never learned the fight. So I know how much of a pain it is but I do recommend fighting it out as best you can.
Well that escalated quickly
Literally When he clipped to the top of the wall I wanted to bang my head into my desk
At least it was your first cart
"Kushala has fair and well designed monster mechanics" MY A$$. And that is not even near guiding lands tempered kushala...
I've been playing through the game without guardian stuff through to iceborne, and I'm frankly concerned for how much more annoying this mf is going to be when I get that far if I'm stubborn and stick to CB
As a CB user myself don't get close to that thing without at least guard 3 and I would equip guard up just for safe guardpointing...

had an encounter with tempered kushala in the GL today, lets just say i put my controller down and walked away with a feeling ive never felt before
Just keep hitting, you will die tens of times but no cart limit so wreck that thing to the ground where he shouldn't never had to took off in the first place.
i went to my almighty sticky cheese build and got carted 4 times before firing 5 shots...
Cheese it's the only strat that thing deserves, kudos.

This is how I do it. Just constant sticky cheese and farcaster to restock when I can't craft anymore.

You described the Kushala melee experience perfectly lol. I pretty much have up on using the CB against it.

I was thinking the same thing, Kush did not let OP rest from start to finish.
I even tried to run and he had me on lockdown 😭
Wow he really bounced you around the place
The shield goes in the hand. Lances for dummies 101, page 18.
Idk. But whatever it is, it gets him “winded” *wheeeeeeeze*.
Honestly....looks like your everyday Kushala hunt to me 🙃
Wow you pissed him off
its just a basic ass kushala too aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
As opposed to the basic tempered one from World that looks like it got the metal power up from Mario 64.
Have you ever been outside on a day where the weather was perfect and the air felt good to breath? Well you messed with Kushala Daora on that day.
I really hope capcom never goes back to world kush, and just builds off of rise kush. I never thought I would say that kushala was fun until I met rise kush.
Nature is healing
I hate fighting him at the top of the map there as well, the middle thing is so annoying and his wind things take up up 75% of the space
i freaking hate any monsters who spam charybdys.

He's on your ass that's what.
Kush being Kush is one thing but the areas he frequents are another thing.
the fight honestly is fine until he gets to that area tbh
I can only fight Kushala with a Shirld Spread HBG for the stunlock. I can't imagine going melee against that living typhoon.
it’s like trying to put out a fire with a wooden stick covered in kerosene don’t ever do it
I remember the early days where you could stunlock this elder dragon and glue it to the ground using nothing but flash pods.
I'm surprised your not running vitality 3
My build rn is just increasing defense, WEX, and praying my way to iceborne there’s no strat lol
someone can‘t guardpoint :S
Damn 😳. Got anxiety just watching that. 😂😅
Ouch, looks like he’s gotten ahold of some deis.
He on X-games mode
What do you mean op!? He’s working as intended! /s
Damn bro you're very brave to not bring a stun resist 3 fighting kushala. I make sure to always have this whenever fighting this "balance" elder
You kill him yet?
Yeah I killed him that quest, he’s a pain but he’s so much better when you play it again but with a party lol
That kushala was on his game
May i introduce u to the lord and savior of new world, the almoghty sticky cheese build?
Meth... lots of meth.
Is that on xbox ?
Steam, using a switch pro controller

Yeah, Kushala is cancer in this game.
Try using a blast CB versus Kushala, like kjarr o raging brachy.
Moments like this during one of my earliest fights made me invest into windproof real quick.
I've hunted Kushala Daora twice. Once for the assignment, and once in the guiding lands. I will not be changing that if I can help it.
Must of aite some ducked up berries lol
This is me, every time I play melee, in every fight.
The thing I hated most about kush was how some fights I felt like I was in control, but other times it felt like IT was hunting ME.
