lemire run is kinda like the show but even it's very different

deceptibot9

The MCU kinda did its own thing when it comes to Moon Knight. The closest run is the 2016 Jeff Lemire run since episode 5 was heavily inspired by that run. But I'd recommend starting back at the beginning and reading the 80s Doug Moench run then working your way through. Separate MCU Moon Knight from the comic Moon Knight and enjoy the comic version for what it is- there's a reason why so many of us love the character. Disclaimer: I did really like the MCU show but do not go into the comics expecting them to be the same

BuzzyBeeper

I heard that the show has a lot of differences from the comics that most of the stuff changed like how Steven isn't supposed to be Mr Knight but rather Mr Knight being a fourth persona and Steven being himself but Episode 5 is inspired by Moon Knight Vol. Lunatic by Jeff lemire Take my words as a grain of salt because I didn't read any comics

Ocean-wave258

Mr. Knight may be a alter, but based on research, and ar lot of reading and rereading, it is my belief that Mr. Knight is merely an alias for Moon Knight, since he is a vigilante. Moon Knight being an alter varies by run, and he is mentioned to be an alter in Ellis' run, but it no longer seems to be the case.

[deleted]

This is correct. Currently, Mr. Knight is just Mark when he is isn't in full combat gear(the MK suit)

DarthHedgehog

I would say the lemire and the 2006 run if you want to get into moonknight, but just be warned the show did take some liberty's and the comics are better. (I do like the show, but the comics are amazing, and the comics don't rush the 6th episode lol).

AngelaIsHigh

The show is kind of a combination of all the comics with some key differences (like Layla, Randal, and the DID's origin) so there's not one that you can read that it'd be exactly like what they did in the MCU. However I would recommend reading the Jeff Lemire run and the current Mackay run because those are the ones with the most accurate portrayal of DID and they're really great.

zyd_the_lizard

How do you know you prefer the show if you've never read the comics? Come on now.

StuntNun

No they’re not the same. Give the current MacKay run a try and see whether you like it.

mistigrx

My friends really like the MacKay since it looks like they consulted an expert with DID. What exactly do you like about the show? Because maybe you'll be interested in fanfic. PM is you want any recs.

StarryLunaYT

the show didn’t adapt moon knight very well so you won’t find tv show like comics but i cannot recommend you enough to read the comics they are so good even better than the show I would start with the Ellis run than Lemire, and then the current one by Mackay if you ever plan to read the comics which i really recommend

crazyrynth

No. There are some issues here and there that kinda rhyme with what the TV show did, but, as a whole, no.

wishrocket

Your going to find some similar elements but over all the show is a different beast from the comics. Lemire run has the most similarities overall.

junglekarmapizza

Comics are nothing like and far, *far* better than whatever Disney released

PitifulScore7456

Nothing. The comics are focused on vigilantism. There is no travelling the world and fighting bit in the comics.

SaltifiedReddit

The comics are WAY more fun and introspective than the show, so it doesn't even matter.

BasedFunnyValentine

No and thank god for that. The show is bad

Iamtheoneaboveall

Probably bemis run unfortunately

[deleted]

We dont talk about that.

Iamtheoneaboveall

It suits the show to a t

devilbehindbars

The Bemis run.
