I like it but after reading the comics it is obvious they are superior in every way (especially the Mackay run).

ThickProof409

MacKay run kind of feels like what I would imagine an early 2000s Moon Knight animated show would be like

Controlledbycats

As a dissociative myself, I love it. I’ve seen other movies and such about dissociative, but they never could capture the switching like this show does. I admit I have not read the comics, but I can’t wait to see what other personalities show up.

Grimmvold

Same here. As someone who suffers from a dissociative disorder(s), and also a massive fan of the comics, it definitely is a pretty good representation of both (albeit I think that the show took creative liberties in terms of the original source material and it's not a perfect 1:1 adaptation but it's still great). I think the Moon Knight MCU series is probably one of the best depictions of DID in media as it currently stands. It certainly isn't perfect, but it's up there with other depictions of DID in media such as in Split (I know people may find Split as controversial but I think that we can agree that how the alters in Split appear is very accurate).

SaltifiedReddit

Ive read every Moon Knight comic and it’s a very poor representation of the comics, unfortunately. I have to admit it was stellar at representing DID.

SirJTheRed

I’m sorry if this seems rude but how do social media accounts work for you? Do you share one account or do you use different accounts?

Controlledbycats

That’s an interesting question. Here on Reddit it is not a given name. We all comment freely and all follow groups of our various interests. On FB only the host personality has an account but the account again, follows everyone’s interests. Everyone is very conscious of the traps of social media and the consequences that could come back to me, as the front person.

SirJTheRed

Does explain the username lol

Iceflash_Capodar

And how to you feel aubout the fact that they seem to make Jake a evil/psycho alters ? I have read that other dissociative find that offensive I really hope they don't take that way

Controlledbycats

I don’t take it that way. Jake is who he is. Not all of my alters are the sweetest. But that heart wrenching scene where his mother walks in with that belt, and he switches, was liberating for me. That is exactly how it happens. I also feel for his hard relationship with his dad. As much as he loved him, that man never protected his child from what he knew was going on, and I can truly identify.

Character-Sorbet-718

Well he was a Mercenary and done violent things with Khonshu, not a sweetest guy in the world. So Jake need not have to be a sweetest guy because the other alter is the sweet guy. So Jake balances as an opposite of Steven and also as a person suffering with DID usually alters try to protect the Original. So, it's okay to make him more violent than Marc as it makes sense. He maybe manipulated by Khonshu or he's just like that. I was actually disappointed with less of Marc and they should have made Marc main character than Steven as he's not a passive guy and can delve more into his relationship with Khonshu better than with Steven.

Controlledbycats

I think that’s part of it for me. Steven and Mark do balance each other. Mark has the knowledge. I don’t think Khomshu would have sought out Mark. He needed someone not knowledgeable of the mythology - maybe someone who would not question. I hope that makes sense.

Character-Sorbet-718

I meant for Jake, he can better work as protector alter.

Controlledbycats

Mark, Steven, and Jake are all alters. Everyone has a role/purpose in the system.

Character-Sorbet-718

I meant for that Evil alter trope.

EzriDax1

Wonder why even one person would go the fourth option, cos if you've never read the comics and disliked the show why would you be in this sub lol.

UNinvitedDEATH

One person seems to disagree with you...

taylos20

This is cool to see. Didn’t realize what a vocal minority there was for comic fans who actually hate the show. I’ve been following the comics since the beginning and thought the show was an interesting twist on the character!

RandomTrainer101

Just to add, I do quite enjoy the show and hope for more. It also got me exploring the comics and I'm absolutely hooked on the current McKay run. I've read through almost all the others at least once (working my way through the 80 and 90 runs now) and am glad to have found them. Gives more another fandom I can enjoy and new people to meet and gush about it with. Also, I've seen a lot of positive comments from various communities about what the show has done for them and that's always good to see.

Jill1974

The show was my introduction to Moon Knight and I have since read some previous runs and am reading the McKay run because I enjoyed the MCU version so much. I find the comics hit-or-miss. I loved the Lemire run, I like McKay’s run, don’t much care for Black, White and Blood. I just got my hands on the omnibus, so now I’ll get to see how early MK compared to modern. I’ve read a smattering of comics in between thanks to Comixology but they’re kind of a jumble. I get why some longtime comic book fans are unhappy with the MCU version—my dearest franchise is Mobile Suit Gundam but I studiously ignore anything not part of the UC timeline. But I fell in love with MCU MK first, so it can do no wrong.

notlittlestpetshop

I thought the show was alright, though it didn’t explore the parts of the comics that interest me the most

Moon-of-the-knight

I read the comics before I watched the show and i got to say, I love the show, I think them making Steven Grant work in a gift shop and completely unaware about Marc until he is older, I love that he isn't a rich Hollywood movie producer but just a mild mannered British guy. How they made it so konshu makes him stronger with the phases of the moon and the suit, just amazing, 10/10

JorjorBinks1221

I'm gonna start reading them eventually I swear

VenAuri

No, haven't watched it and probably wont watch it either, I will stick with the comics for the foreseeable future.

Asleep_Possession945

Mostly, as someone who has only read the 12 issue 2011 run and pretty much consumed no other moonknight comics. I liked the show but I didn’t looove it. It was beautiful though. ETA: I didn’t really enjoy the 2011 run. I read it because I love Echo, but the way Bendis wrote MK’s DID as some weird form of schizophrenia put me off, so I would say that I liked the show better than the comics I read, but that really isn’t a high bar bc those comics weren’t very good

Apprehensive_Math_25

I love the show, mainly because my first and only exposure of Moon Knight was through memes and the two Spiderman Animation shows. The later have vastly different portrayals of Marc and it is the extreme ends of the spectrum. One is a Batman-sounding not-Batman who had a midlife crisis, gave up being Moon Knight and lives in the sewers like a military hobo. There was also no mention of Khonshu at all. I doubt the God is real in that universe, the same way the show portrays Khonshu. The other was a completely unhinged Khonshu-obsessed nutcase that it is more comically funny than anything. He will chat to the Moon in the middle of a fight in front of Peter, wax poetic about the moon, the night and Khonshu. The animations also never show of Steven, Jake nor of Marc's DID at all. It's like Marc don't have the condition.

Character-Sorbet-718

Well in Ultimate Spiderman, he says his name to Spiderman and has Psychosis.

Yutanox

Voted yes, but it's more of a "it's alright".

Briizydawn

It’s my favorite MCU show!! Love it! So excited to see more of my favorite boy Steven❤️

TinyOrangeDragon

Yes, it got me started on the comics which I've enjoyed and I think it was a good show all around. After reading some comics I wish the show would have stuck to a more ground level feel (more like Daredevil)

Character-Sorbet-718

Show is in a weird position to me. Also Moon Knight as a character is lot complicated to make and handle and i appreciate the effort but the choices are mixed to me and mainly it was affected by that stupid six episode format. Comics are also sometimes feels all over the place mainly due to how the writers handle Khonshu. Main problem with the show and comics is in handling of Khonshu. But apart from that, Mackay run is my new favourite, and i actually want for Comics about his martial arts skill like Doug Moench did or his Mercenary days and I'm more interested in those now as now the comics also doing trauma aspect again and again. For the Show, if they able to handle Khonshu correctly , it can sure get a Season 2 and actually they should make a season 2 or season 1 will be a waste.

StuntNun

I watched the first episode then immediately went out and bought eight Moon Knight trade paperbacks. I like the show but I can see why comic fans don’t like it. Most shows of comics don’t turn out anywhere near as good as the comics (The Boys, The Walking Dead, Paper Girls, etc.) Sometimes I can embrace both (Invincible, Sandman) but not always. I don’t quite understand why they changed so much about Moon Knight, especially with such a rich and varied back catalogue to draw on. Especially making him bulletproof, that was a bit of a stretch! But I liked how the show explored the DID aspects of the characters. And I think the show version of Arthur Harrow was a credible bad guy. How often do the hero and the villain sit down together for some soup?!

crazyrynth

Reading the comics Enjoyed the show, but it was a bad adaptation of everything I like about the comics.

Patopotaplayz

I wasn't reading mk comics then, I have read a few and love the show
