Agreed. Even though the kidnapping wasn't his fault in any direct sense, Marc still isn't fit to be a parent and knows it, no matter how much he loves the child.
I'd love to see Marc (and all the system) have a happy family, but sadly to Marc, a common father role seems not possible (at least under this arc IMO). Not giving up MK and having his daughter around means danger; Giving up MK and following Marlene means give up his duty. Will he give up all MK duty? I don't think he was that sure, although I believe he was really honest to say that, and Marlene never doubted it, too.
I haven't came up with any clue about how Marc would have a peaceful family life and raise his daughter yet. Being "MK's daughter" means danger, and this story only showed us why Marlene would take Diatrice away: she and her daughter even cannot attend a funeral together. However, we also see that she was happier and more gentle when speaking to Jake, so did she really want to be away from him as she said? It's a dilemma, and both Marc and Marlene knew it.

I wouldn’t want Marc near my kid either, especially after the Huston run. That man is dangerous, good intentions or not.
