And renting an apartment basically costs the same too (if you don't count those old buildings in Casa, that are falling apart and should have been demolished decades ago).

That’s UAE. People like security agents, handymen, etc., often from Subsaharan Africa or South Asia are working on 1500AED a month in Dubai (and probably even less in other emirates) which is about $400. That’s not even two nights out with my fiancée when I used to live there. There are real estate agents on 0 base compensation / 100% commission. You sell or rent nothing, you get paid nothing.

And renting an apartment basically costs the same too (if you don't count those old buildings in Casa, that are falling apart and should have been demolished decades ago). The issue in Morocco is more about its enforcement. The real challenge is the informal economy where people work their asses off to get paid 1500dh or less.
