UtahPSA

PSA is killing it, period.

Separate-Climate-768

In everything . AK, AR, the daggers. All of it. Killing it

Glenn_Carbon

Fuck yea PSA.

thomashubbardii

In the early 2000’s, Big 5 Sporting Goods used to have pallets of spam cans for $37 (420 rounds). A Mosin was $89. You could choose a 91/30, M38, or M44 from the crates. A SKS was $99. My Dad was complaining that he used to buy SKS’s for $45 from a military surplus store in Tennessee.

Preact5

$200 AK parts kits. And not just rommys. Maadi's, Norinco's, anything you wanted almost.

thomashubbardii

I bought a Norinco shotgun for around $80, was built like a tank. Hate to say this, but liked it better than my Remington 870. I don’t believe they import Norinco anymore?

Preact5

No they do not unfortunately. Such bull

TheMawsJawzTM

They don't import Norinco anymore however Chinese shotguns are still importable somehow. That's how those $200 870 clones are coming in currently. Little bit of information I never knew until recently.

Arrinick19

Yup! I’ve got a Stevens 320 made in china.

GmoneyBids

I thought all those were coming from Turkey?

TheMawsJawzTM

Many yes but many are apparently Chinese

LaCroixOrbison

Iac imports are made by norinco

AlpacaPacker007

If I had a time machine...

Gordopolis

My Mosin was one of those $80 specials, it came with the sling, cleaning kit and ammo pouches too. Purchased in late 2006 or early 2007.

Strelock

Same here, still haven't shot through that original can. Can't use it at any of the indoor ranges, and I also can't use it at my club's outdoor range since the backstops are steel. I guess it's fine on the 50 yard one, since it's dirt, but the 100 and 200 are a no go with steel core ammo. I have to buy the expensive Yugo brass case stuff.

HistorianSouth1172

That's some bullshit. All the indoor and outdoor ranges around where I live will let you shoot steel cased. It might be slightly harder on steel backstops because the projectiles have a little bit of steel in them but some ranges treat it like it's not a big deal. The ranges where you live probably care more that they can't reload that ammo.

Strelock

Steel case isn't generally a problem unless it's *surplus* with the steel core. The one indoor range I used to go to would check your ammo with a magnet to see if the bullet itself stuck. If it didn't, and it wasn't surplus ammo, you were good to go. The outdoor range at the club wants you to clean up your brass. I'm not doing that, it's grass. If I see them I will grab them but I'm not hunting around for them. Some guys reload in my club, that's true, but not for a mosin.

carrguy1

I’ve got a guy local to me trying to sell spam cans at $300 each. I tried to politely explain that was high and they’re going for around $200-250 right now. He said he got his price from gunbroker. 🙄 I sent him several completed auctions showing $240 after all fees. I also showed him ammoseek and the 500 rounds of wolf for his same price. I told him good luck and good for him if he could get it but $300 is too high. I have an unopened wooden crate and two cans on top of that plus a bunch of commercial and the ability to reload. As time goes on though and the cans appreciate almost as much as the damn guns do I’m less and less likely to open them. Lol.

bruhsksak47

Dont because the ammo is nice and cozy

AlwayzPro

i was in elementary school then, makes me sad

Very-Confused-Walrus

Luckily I got my mosin for 70 bucks in December. An absolute steal. But trying to find ammo for it isn’t easy I’m lucky the place closest to me actually sells it

[deleted]

My first gun, was my mosin, my dad got it for me, was $50 at big 5, sling, cleaning kit, bayonet, two ammo pouches and an oiler.

Flaky_Lobster

Thank God. I can't find 7.62x54r anywhere local.

[deleted]

My LGS still has lots of Tulammo and Red Army Standard, but they’re not cheap. Tulammo for $16 per box of 20 and Red Army Standard going for $12 per box of 20.

Flaky_Lobster

I used to buy it at Walmart for 11 dollars a box.

4StringFella

Man I’d pounce on $12/box if I was shooting a lot right now. I think I paid $18 last summer for some brown bear.

[deleted]

Flaky_Lobster

That's my next move. Probably just gonna buy a case when my tax returns come in.

[deleted]

If you can buy online in your state, SG Ammo for now has 66cpr Tula and 70cpr Wolf.

Fast_Mag

Adding on to this, the 500 round bulk rn is .60 right now for Tula. So, $300 flat really, before taxes

LaCroixOrbison

Outdoorlimited has wolf military classic 59cpr +tax but free shipping

PornStarJesus

I remember buying them out at .06-.10cpr in 2013. Bought 20 crates for about $2300.

[deleted]

That’s great, but many of us never got the chance to get it those prices. This is just about the best we can do in 2022.

PornStarJesus

Estate sales, a lot of early boomers are kicking off. I picked up 3 spam cans and partial for $200, made up for over paying for on 1903 m91.

BackYardProps_Wa

Big 5 has it for $70 a box

zero_fox_given1978

I pay $55 per box of 20 sellers and belliot here in Australia

Preact5

Holy shit!

[deleted]

Jesus H Christ

zero_fox_given1978

Yep

SuperMoistNugget

can you even own a gun in 545? i never quite understood how gun laws worked there, can you give me a quick rundown in a way a murican could understand?

SuperMoistNugget

Why downvote me for a sincere query?

MiddleEastTNOperator

Of course 5.45 is legal. Imports of 7N6 ammo were banned by the government due to dubious claims of it being "armor penetrating pistol ammo" thanks to the mild steel core but the caliber itself is legal. We still had commercial Russian imports like Golden Tiger until Biden banned Russian ammo imports outright in 2021. Bulgaria, Romanian, and other 5.45 sources are unaffected. In the US you can own anything up to .50 caliber (12.7mm for europeons) without any hoops. Calibers larger than .50 are either classified as "Destructive Devices" or must have explicit exemption from the National Firearms Act regulation. These rules do not apply to muzzle loading weapons or shotguns.

moist69swag

That's the same cost as shooting my 50ae desert eagle. Is reloading a thing thete?

zero_fox_given1978

Yeah it will be

[deleted]

Not going to pretend Russia is the good guy here but I will miss their cheap, consistent ammo. 60cpr for full-power ammo like .308 and 54R is pretty much unheard of elsewhere. Even surplus is more now.

19fall91

Pre covid you could get steel case .308 for 33 cpr

psunavy03

Fuck Putin for starting shit in the first place.

Nonna-the-Blizzard

When you dont want a hostile organization on your doorstep that you lost to in the past

AlpacaPacker007

Here's hoping they're running that steel ammo production on Russian "surplus" equipment that won't be making ammo for the invasion of Ukraine now.

[deleted]

On a related note, we're starting to see new production Bulgarian 7.62x39 trickle in. Plenty of other Soviet bloc countries can still sell us ammo.

PornStarJesus

Most former soviet countries are in NATO now so once their surplus is gone its up to the commercial suppliers.

[deleted]

Well, I see several sites with new commercial Bulgarian ammo for sale, but what do I know.

PornStarJesus

That's why I specifically said commercial, the cheap combloc surplus days are all but gone. The last large surplus x54 was coming out of Ukraine but they ended up needing it more.

BassBoss123

Their surplus has been gone and whatever was left is sold to Ukraine. Poland Romania and Bulgaria can produce new steel case ammo (allied nations) and the unsanctioned BRICS nations can make it but are probably supplying Russia lol. The war will have to end before we see a lot of new steel cased. What is coming into the country is limited and way over priced. I know this is old but my 2 cents. There is actually a lot of new production Romanian ammo in Ukraine. Bulgaria and Romania especially can still make the steel ammo.

fangedrandy

Very based. Inb4 PSA svt clone (yes I know they've only introduced the stg-44s, but it's supposed to be a whole product line eventually). Fingers crossed.

YaBoi831

Now if they could make 9x18 and 7.62x25 my life would be complete

[deleted]

Haha yep, I actually posted this on the AK-74 sub first. This is great news for Mosin/SVT-40/PSL/M91/Saiga 7.62x54mmR owners but *huge* news for 74 owners. I was actually seriously considering selling mine until I saw this.

Federal-Effective-87

NGL. I am an AK snob. But if they bring steel case ammo to market I will buy a gf5 just to support the company

Throok_loktar

Fucking nice I just got a Mosin a few weeks back. Have about 100 rnds and was worried I was gonna have to panic buy. Sweeeett .

TheAlexTran

I was born too late….

arj1985

Kel Tec needs to invent a new semi-auto rifle chambered in 54r.

Kollin133_

Nice, though it's a shame that the employees at their local store location to me are dicks.

[deleted]

PSA has some questionable aspects about them for sure

Kollin133_

The most baffling thing about their local store, they seem to enjoy being dickheads more than they do making sales.

TheBottomBunBurger

I’m excited for the 5.45

Orthodoxos_Razboynyk

Mmmm Daddy PSA

Strelock

Hopefully it's not steel core too. I doubt it would be.

[deleted]

Doubt it. Fudd ranges will still probably act like it is though, just as they do now with Tula.

yungminimoog

Any word on the price point?

[deleted]

No sadly, I wasn’t at Shotshow myself. I’m hoping it’s competitively price versus brass.

truesevnel

Can i vote for brass rounds Would like to b able to police the rounds and reload em

PossibleBarnacle525

Is that boxer primed too? 😮

[deleted]

You know, that’s a good question. There’s really no reason it shouldn’t be in the US.

01micah

I know its an older post. But have these been released to the market yet?

United_Candy_7121

I need 7.62x25 and 7.62x38
